I'm really at a loss for what to do here... I'll give as much backstory as I can.
I had installed WETA v4.1 while also running Renovate ICE, which was not causing any issues until I toggled the "Google Photos workaround" option which set my phone as a Pixel 3 XL. This caused a conflict and made Renovate ICE think I was an unsupported device, thus causing my RiCE tweaks to cease working.
Being a good boy I decided to do a nandroid backup before I installed WETA v4.1 so I was going to just restore from that and re-install WETA without toggling the Google Photos workaround. After restoring in TWRP and hitting reboot system I ran into a bootloop in Fastboot. I cannot boot into recovery even. It is detected in fastboot but using .\fastboot reboot didn't work and I tried to use the all-in-one tool and none of those reboot options worked either.
How can I get out of this fastboot situation? Please help!!
I tried flashing recovery from fastboot:
FAILED (remote: (recovery_a) No such partition')
Well... google helped out finally after reading 100 posts... it was as simple as flashing my recovery using the following command:
fastboot flash boot recoveryname.img
I thoroughly enjoyed this roller coaster of a one way conversation.
Thank you.

You're welcome. I was freaking out for a little bit thinking I lost everything. I rooted my Galaxy S3 years ago but haven't done much in terms of rooting etc since 2012 or so... needless to say I am making some rookie mistakes. I'm still stumped as to what happened with the TWRP restore that caused this to happen in the first place. Any ideas?

I've never had great luck with twrp restores. I have made a few on this phone but never got them to go through properly. My phone stays set up in a way where i don't ever need backups to get up and running. I know i restore too much to have to worry about backing up everything on a regular basis.

what command did you use.
download and choose your model and OS
try
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot_patched.img
if it still does not boot then try TWRP
Code:
fastboot flash boot twrpname.img
when recovering from TWRP just recover data only. Not Boot and System/Vendor.

Ah sorry I didn't mention the command - it was:
.\fastboot flash TWRP.img
I didn't use the correct command, after doing fastboot flash boot twrpname.img it worked.
Thanks for the note on restoring only data, that must be where things went south.

Hi all,
so after system update of OOS which ended up in a boot loop and losing the TWRP recovery (back to stock)
I was trying to get TWRP (back again) via fastboot I was able once to get TWRP loaded once and was even lucky to able to load the Nandroid backup "successfully".
but unfortunately, after restarting...nothing... always getting back to fastboot main screen with no success of booting normally or into recovery mode.
also, not able to re-flash the twrp.img to reach again for the backup.
is there another way to get back TWRP and load my backup file? by using fastboot commands?
I just had the same issue.
I managed to fix it using a fastboot image https://drive.google.com/open?id=1fqvjJ-lC7w2wtcxYwlbmZ4pRW60psODV
After the flash completed I booted into the OS then rebooted back to fastboot and from there I was able to use fastboot command to boot into TWRP
Had a similar issue after installing a rom a while back. Posted about it here https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/help/stuck-fastboot-trying-to-install-omnirom-t3849882
Google the mega unbrick guide on the OnePlus forums. Let me know if this helps at all. Or give the other link posted there a try as well.

Nice, we're from the same city.
anyhow, have you flashed this by doing "fastboot flash XYZ.zip" ? & afterwards flashed the TWRP again?

Np. I cant remember exactly but i think it wiped the phone. You won't be able to restore that backup unless you happen to have copied it externally from your phone before the brick.
Let us know if you manage to get it all fixed and going again. Know its frustrating having your phone bricked. Pretty much brought it back to its factory shipped state from what I remember.

Use this to flash a fastboot image:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...ol-tool-one-driversunlocktwrpfactory-t3398993
I was downloading a OTA update the other day & in preparation I thought I would go ahead & uninstall Magisk. Magisk asked me if I wanted to restore images or uninstall I just uninstalled, not ever having made a image before I didn't know what it was talking about.
The phone rebooted once then booted again into TWRP, I can't get back into my phones OS.
Later I couldn't get back into TWRP so I had to boot using the fastboot commands in Windows. I was able to see & "Backup" the contents of my phone to an external drive.
Now how do I get back into my phone like normal?
Do I need to flash an image or I've seen other threads they wipe the data & there phone boots?
Please advise.
Thank you

First of all, no need to uninstall Magisk - unnecessary and waste of time.
Once in TWRP (fastboot boot twrp.img, or via your phone if you still can) - flash OOS OTA update (as that was what you were trying to do).
Then flash TWRP, reboot TWRP. Now you can flash Magisk again (so you get root, since you removed it for some reason).
Everything should be fine.

Sorry to hear. You are going to have to provide logs of what commands you are typing into terminal, and what is the output.
So are you in TWRP or not. I literally have no idea what is going on with your device or what you are doing.
Next time, maybe check guides in this forum of how to do what you are doing.
Randomly uninstalling/installing/flashing/issuing commands via terminal/random backup and restores/etc.... does not sit well with android devices.
I'll try another pc tonight.
If you can get back to twrp you need to flash magik to boot normally
Still can't back into twrp. Failedremote: failed to load/authenicate boot image: Load error.)
Tried a different computer. Tried deleting my fastboot files on PC then copying them from a backup thinking I modified the twrp image wrong thinking this unmotified version would work, still nothing.
Can I get some advice links to guides. Thank you.

ARE YOU SURE you are typing 'fastboot boot twrp.img' - BOOT, not FLASH!!!???
I'm now able to boot into twrp. Had to use fastboot --set-active=a. Worked great. Left it like that at home. I'm at work now.

I would start by reading forum page 1 information about what you are trying to do.
I already explained to you the order to flash to make things work.
If that is not enough, once again, go learn what you are trying to do (via the forum thread).
You will probably save yourself these types of situations in the future if you understand what you are doing.
Good luck.
Everything is FULLY Operational Thank You. What a experience but Ive learned.

OnePlus 6, Ubuntu 18.04. I think I've basically wiped everything.
I am trying to follow https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/rom-stock-fastboot-roms-oneplus-6-t3796665 but I can't get either of these to boot:
Code:
fastboot boot TWRP.img
or
Code:
fastboot boot twrp-3.3.1-2-enchelada.img
Doing this gives me the OnePlus logo with "Fastboot Mode" underneath and it hangs.
I've tried
Code:
fastboot --set-active=b
fastboot flash slot_b TWRP.img
and
Code:
fastboot flash slot_b twrp-3.3.1-2-enchilada.img
Rebooting into slot_b recovery gives me the warning about "The boot loader is unlocked and software integrity cannot be guaranteed. ... PRESS POWER KEY TO PAUSE BOOT" and then it hangs.
I am trying to get back to stock OOS so I can try Havoc but I'll settle for the former just to get the phone working.
I have a nandroid backup, I rsynced my /sdcard, and I have a Titanium backup.
I really need some guidance here...
What should I make of
Code:
$fastboot erase recovery
erasing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: Check device console.)

Havoc OS (Havoc-OS-v3.1-20200120-enchilada-Official.zip). The problem was that somehow my pin got corrupted/changed after my first couple of boots into Havoc. That precipitated a big mess.
That said, I switched to my desktop (also running Ubuntu 18.04) and got a new version of the SDK directly from android.com, and replaced the files that came from the repo. That was able to do the formatting and install the stock image so now I just need to go through the procedure again...
I wish I'd had a better sense of what was going on with the partition table/fstab/blkid because I was able to get in with adb shell and I theoretically could have manually formatted...

I haven't checked to see what, if any, recovery is on there now. I'm assuming that the stock one was flashed on when I was able to get 10.3.0-OnePlus6Oxygen_22_OTA_042_all_1912142031_0fb330-FASTBOOT.zip. Now that I've got it working again, how do I put Havoc on it? Isn't that based on Android 10 ... ?
I found this in one of the many tabs I had open from figuring all this out: https://del.dog/pelihovape.txt. I wish it had some version numbers!

I was looking around but I could not find what is going on with Havoc OS. I would probably recommended choosing a better maintained ROM with up to date instructions and support. Maybe Pixen or something. I was only able to find this old thread. Maybe you have better luck.
But if you really want Havoc, figure out first if it is androdi 9 or 10. If it is 10, use malfuriono unofficial twrp. If it is 9, you have to downgrade to OOS 9.0.9 first. Also, dirty flashes tend to cause problems, I would not recommended doing that. Make sure you wipe appropriate partitions
I have a new Pixel 4a, Android 12. I want to use lineage 19.1. I try already several days to flash TWRP, sunfish_twrp3.6.1-11 or sunfish_twrp11-test3. No success. Finally I write fastboot flash boot_a_twrp.img instead of fastboot boot twrp.img. It ended up with the screen of teamwin, hanging there. Now the pixel is not booting to android any more but each time to the incomplete teamwin screen. So I tried to flash the newest factory image. No success : "writing 'boot' failed (remote: Failed to write to partition Not Found)
I need help urgently. Thanks!

I don't think you're providing enough info. "I tried to flash the newest factory image" doesn't tell useful people what you did. I'm not useful, anyway.
I wouldn't use TWRP on the 4a. I'm using LOS recovery. You can follow the instructions (read the whole thing first) here: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/sunfish/install
That should allow you to do a clean install of LOS19.
Thank you for giving advice. I followed exactly your recommended web-site (Install LineageOS on sunfish, Temporarily booting a custom recovery using fastboot). From what I understand the first step is to install a recovery which in my case was sunfish_twrp3.6.1-11.img . I did not work. I also tried an older twrp.img. "fastboot flash boot twrp.img" did not work. I read and read, learned about 2 slots, without a deep understanding. Then I tried " fastboot flash boot_a_twrp.img". It seemed to work. But when I reboot into recovery it is stuck at the screen of teamwin (see attachment).
I thought to give up and do a factory reset. But there I got this: Failed to write to partition Not Found. What can I do now? Is there a way to do a factory reset to slot_b ?
If you try to help me please remember that I don't have enough knowledge to understand abbreviations.

Its not complicated at all,, just put you phone in fastboot, which I know you have done before , go here (https://flash.android.com) and follow the on screen prompts, select any factory image and start.

Good to know it worked for you
I tried backup my data (partition) on the Oneplus Nord by temporarily loading a custom recovery: TWRP.
In FastBoot Mode I executed "fastboot boot twrp.img" with the newest files that I found here: https://twrp.me/oneplus/oneplusnord.html
twrp-3.7.0_12-0-avicii.img
This did not work, the screen just got stuck saying: "1+ Fastboot Mode"
It does not progress from there, I tried different versions, Euro, American, etc.
Now the device is not booting anymore. I only get to the recovery screen where I can choose the language. Here a cryptic msg. says: "kindly reminder system error after select language ..."
What can I do to boot the device back up again?
Maybe flash the boot image: "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
Which boot image should I use?
First off, if you had it on android 12, then it didn’t work because custom recoveries don’t work on the OOS 12/ Color OS 12.
To fix the issue, try booting to recovery (fastboot reboot recovery) and on the phone wipe the data, if that doesn’t work, try doing fastboot reboot fastboot, it will (atleast supposed to) bring you to fastbootd, you gotta do the same thing, wipe data and if THAT doesn’t work too… congrats! You bricked your phone
You just need to flash the OS manually using a fastboot rom thingy; https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...stock-fastboot-roms-for-oneplus-nord.4142153/
If none of those work, reply to this message I’ll show you the one for hard bricked phones.. technically the last one I showed was for hard bricked but not 100%
Hope this helps!

Oh boy I got it back up!!!
I flashed slot b, apparently there is a slot a that works as sort of a backup.
Check current slot:
fastboot getvar current-slot
> current-slot: b
fastboot --set-active=a
fastboot reboot
Voila.
I still would like to backup the partition though.
