List View Recents? - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

I just came from the note 9 to the OP7 Pro, my deviec is rooted and i have downloaded quick switch from magisk. I was wondering if anyone knew a way to get a list view styled recents like the note 9 has? here is a picture for reference https://imgur.com/a/rlSsEFW
I prefer this list style recent screen. If anyone knows how could they let me know?

You will need a custom ROM for that

Interested in that also. Just got Nova yesterday, does it have an option to change it to that?

Nova doesn't. Custom ROMs such as havoc OS have it. It's called slim recents

well i just froze the OP launcher and didn't change anything in nova settings. The apps are on top of each-other kind of view, which I prefer better. The only issue I have now is that the lock button is gone. I run some apps in background for a while, any way I can fix that?

Yes you can do that but that's not what the OP was after in the picture

That might be an option baked into the OnePlus launcher

Swipe left for Google Now

I tried searching for this and didn't find it, and I'm really curious about it.
Is it possible for the swipe left to google now (which looks incredibly smooth in the KitKat videos) to be implemented into launchers such as nova and apex? Or is that going to be a stock launcher only thing?
Just to clarify, I'm asking if a future version of Nova/apex will be able to copycat this design, not just implement another gesture that opens the google now app. The beauty of these launchers now is that they appear very similar to aosp, but they have many more features. Will that no longer be possible after this change?
Nova (paid) already has gestures that you can set to launch any app. There are 9 gestures although swipe left isn't one of them - not that it matters

Right, I guess that is one option, but it is more jarring to switch to a totally different app than the swipe gesture that it looks like KItKat has. That seem so fluid, almost like it's just another home screen.

From what I was reading, I believe that in 4.4 it actually IS another screen. I mean it's not just that the app is hidden in the background and uncovered by a gesture, it is an option to have google now to take up a page in the layout.

Nova right now cant do anything like the google launcher for kk. When you swipe right there is an actual google now home page.

i really hope that nova will implement this and all the other cool stuff from the new kk launcher... something like a more customizable stock launcher
The google launcher is basically an extension of the Google search app. Kind of like Facebook home. I doubt nova will be able to integrate this unless the build it themselves into nova. http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2013...e-kitkats-primary-interface-is-google-search/

I suppose an app like GMD gestures could help you achieve the same effect

I think it would be cool if you can swipe left to any app of your choice, even if the app has to go on pause.

Remove what? The launcher? You can just install Apex launcher and use that instead if you wanted. If you really wanted to remove it you will need to uninstall it through titanium backup, but I wouldn't recommend that.

Changing Icons

Hey,
I recall seeing a review in which the reviewer mentioned you could long press any icon and change the icon for another, it also had the option to add your own.
Has anyone tried this / can confirm?
Thinking of themeing the phone without root on an icon by icon basis - are there any icons it won't allow you to change?
Thanks!
I was hoping someone could answer this, I probably saw the same review... He didn't pass the add your own option, would be nice to be able to use icon packs

Yeah that's definitely an option but I'm sure I saw this functionality on LGs launcher but it looked like you could only change them on an icon by icon basis opposed to applying an icon pack?
You can but only on the home screen, just keep holding down on the icon until you hear the phone vibrate let go and then hit the paint brush next to it.
Also it does not work if the apps are in folders already.

Damn. Is it possible to add icon packs after root without changing your launcher? I'd like to keep everything the same but just change the icons.

AFAIK it's not possible without changing your launcher which also means you lose knock code support.
What about Unicon? Don't need a custom launcher it seems...

Unicon work fine using it now you need to have xposed installed
There's an app called "icon changer" which can change the app icons on the homesceen to something you choose.

Seconded: Unicon is doing the business. I've used the icons from "Ultimate G3 Theme", but there are several G3-style icon packs on the store already, anyone tried any others?

Erm, you do not lose knock code by simply changing the launcher. Launchers have no influence on it. I'm using Action Launcher and it works perfectly

Double tap to wake/sleep does also work with other launchers. It's integrated in the system and therefore not being changed by other launcher which is just an app with a different UI. Actually everything works no matter if you use LG UI or different launcher. The only possibility to change system settings is via root + Xposed installer with G3 tweakbox and/or gravity box. So no worries

Hm, that's strange. I haven't been using Nova for quite some time so I'm not sure but it might be some Nova setting in that case. With Action Launcher it works normally.
for me the double tap to wake/sleep only works on dalvik runtime, the moment i convert to art it refuses to work

I now own this phone and I can confirm you can change the icons to some crap options off LG or you can Google some nice PNG files on Google and set them yourself. It only changes them on the home screen though and not the app drawer [emoji106]
Well double tap to wake up to Lock screen or use knock code to Home Screen and double tap to sleep work perfectly for me using Nova.
To double tap to sleep I have an app titled 'Turn Off' in which to get it to work where you simply double tap anywhere on the Nova Home screen I went to Nova Settings/Gestures and for Double Tap gesture I assigned a shortcut to the Turn Off app.
Now I never need to press the power button for both wake or sleep.
UNICON works great for me and i get to keep stock launcher for now till i get bored :good:

OP6 + Android P + Nova = no new recent app manmagement

Just installed the new P release and after switching to Nova launcher notice that the new recent management feature is not there. Odd. Is there a way to add the new style to Nova or do we have to wait for developer to do so?

Do not disable the OOS launcher
I tried that but then it shows both recents app managers....
So, freezing the OP launcher brings back the previous Oreo style recent apps view... trying... it does [emoji2]
Not sure what the fascination with Nova is. Lawnchair, Action Launcher & the OnePlus launcher are all as good or better if you're looking for an AOSP feel.
Personally I just use the OnePlus launcher, and sometimes Lawnchair.
Well, that's why there are many launchers... one uses the one with the features one wants and needs.. Nova does a great job for me.

The customisation in Nova Launcher, gestures, swipe etc is not fully present in the other launchers you mention, and as for ASOP "feel" you can make Nove look however you like.

Lawnchair restarting when going to homepage

Just downloaded lawnchair launcher for the first time. I really like it for the most part but unfortunately every time I go to the homepage from an app, the launcher is sort of restarting and have to reload everything on the homepage. Is it a setting somewhere I have to change?
You should probably post in the Lawn chair thread. Ive never had that issue using Lawnchair. I always use the updated from telegram and not the official from the playstore. I would advise you to backup your desktop in Lawnchair settings and upgrade via the telegram group.

Have you disabled battery optimization for Lawnchair? Another option would be to wipe data and see if the issue persist. I would also try another 3rd party launcher to test if it's a Lawnchair problem or something else going on.
---------- Post added at 09:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:28 PM ----------
Now that I think about you may be talking about the slow blink effect that happens on Android 10 with all 3rd party launchers because OnePlus hasn't added support for transition animations for 3rd party launchers. Drop your animations speed to .25 or off completely to make it tolerable. That's what I did but I'm currently back on Stock launcher because those animations are such eye candy.

That's exactly what I was referring to. Try the animation adjustments I mentioned. Took me awhile to understand what you meant by "restarting". I too love Lawnchair and have used it my last 3 devices but what OnePlus did with the gesture animations in Android 10 update is very disheartening. I think the animation works as it should on custom ROMs but that's not enough reason for me to leave stock rooted. I'm actually starting to enjoy the stock launcher with Google feed module.
This is actually an Android 10 issue, nothing to do with OP. It happens on the Pixels with 3rd party launchers too. I think however Google allowed 3rd party launchers to access the gestures with the December security update. Action Launcher for example now implements it with the December update.

A security thing that makes you able to watch Netflix and Amazon Prime amongst other things in highest possible quality. If you root you'll loose L1 and gets downgraded to L3 which means you can only watch the before mentioned services in 480P

Are there any similar apps / widgets to this?

I have used this widget from Beautiful Widgets for the past few years. Currently the time isn't auto updating on the N20, despite changing the settings.
Are there any similar or better apps or widgets to this? Specifically I need something that I can customise it and add shortcuts to several apps.
Cheers
Also looking for a Beautiful Widgets-comparable replacement app.

Try whitelisting the app in the battery settings. If you have power mode on, it might be hindering the update. I had a similar issue with different app and this helped.

Yeah, second this right here. Completely customizable, love it. Lot like that older app, UCCW. You can make something super simple, or extremely complex. Up to you. I'd share my homescreen widget if Tapatalk would let me upload a dang image.

Yea I tried whitelisting it under the battery and memory settings. Widget still only updates when I first unlock my phone, if I resize the widget, or if I open the BW app. The developer explicitly says that the app is not meant to work with newer versions of Android but they're not providing support any longer
