I have a Bluetooth headset that I want only the phone calls to go to and I have the media audio disabled the Bluetooth settings for it. however every time I disconnect and reconnect the headset the media audio still shows disabled yet all the audio gets routed to the headset. I have reset the Bluetooth settings and cleared the cache, and also reset up the headset multiple times and the problem still comes back. the only way I can get it to stop routing media audio to the headset is to each time I connect I have to manually go into the settings re-enable and then disable media audio. Any suggestions? This headset works fine on my pixel to set up that way.

This sounds like a similar issue I am having. This is not necessarily a problem with the device but a setting within the headset.
I usually have my BT Headset going more than 12-hours per day. I want the phone app to speak the callers' name over BT (Earphone mode> speak caller ID). The settings in my BT headset override the settings on the phone. Thus, when there is a phone call I hear, "Call from ###-###-####." No matter what I do on the phone, the headset will override it.
In your case, the headset might have a similar override forcing the media audio to reconnect.
Try contacting the manufacturer and see if you can change the settings in the headset.

I have a T-Mobile G2.. When I use a Stereo Bluetooth (Backbeat 903) I have an issue when switching back to media audio after sending/receiving a call. If I send or receive a call I must turn bluetooth off then back on to allow my media audio to return to the headset. The device continues to show that it is connected "Phone and Media audio" but no audio comes through. I have tried a few generic bluetooth fixes and they didn't help.. Please help....
I want to use Spype on my G Tablet - bought myself a bluetooth headset. I can connect no problem (can even toggle it on and off with the home screen button application) it beeps indicating the connection.
But when I do calls I doesn't use the mic and speaker of the headset. Matter of fact it seems like it messed up with my audio setting because my built-in speakers don't seem to work anymore.
Any thoughts?
Sometimes I have the same issue. If you want speakers back, try disconnecting from the Bluetooth device. If that doesn't fix it, just reboot. I just posted another comment about the impossibility to use a bluetooth headset, not just for output, but for audio input also. I guess this is because there's no HSP or HFP bluetooth profiles implemented on the g tablet, just a2dp, which is why it just can stream audio to an output device, like a bluetooth stereo headset or car audio. BTW, I discovered this when trying to achieve exactly what you tried to do, making calls using Skype.
Whenever I connect the phone to my car's BT phone calls are routed correctly. However, other audio (e.g Sat Nav directions) are also routed through BT too. Unfortunately, the car cannot play these so no sounds are heard. I want to force the phone to route non-call related audio through the phone's external speaker as normal even when connected to BT. Apps I've found in the market are all designed to do the reverse!
So, I take it that nobody else has this problem?
Give this a try....Go to Settings->Wireless & Networks->Bluetooth Settings and long press on your paired connection and select "Options". In Options uncheck "Media", but leave "Phone" and "Connect" checked.
Try it and see if that works.
Cheers but I've already tried that. All that happens is the connection disconnects completely and when I tried to connect (with the media option deselected) it automatically reconnects the media option too!
So here's the situation. When my phone connects to my car's bluetooth, it routes all sounds to the car. That's the desired result when talking about Navigation or Music...but here's my problem.
If I change the source of my stereo or I turn it off, the phone is still trying to push audio to the car so I don't hear any notifications.
Is there an app (I am rooted on stock 4.4.2) that would allow me to force normal notifications to always come from the phone..or maybe a per-app setup where nothing went to BT audio unless I set it to do so?
I've been setting up voice commands recently for use in my car. I have an HTC One M8, but I don't think my issue is device specific (this isn't really an issue per say, but a tweak that I think should be possible).
What currently happens is my phone connects to the stereo using A2DP bluetooth. It plays music and takes phone calls as it should. When I initiate a voice command, the music is paused, the stereo displays "voice ctrl", and the command is heard through the stereo microphone. The issue with this, is the stereo does not return to playing music after the command. I have to press the call button on the stereo to return to the music.
What I would like to have happen is when a voice command is initiated, the media volume is reduced (using Tasker), and the phone microphone is used without triggering the stereo.
I've searched a fair amount, but haven't found any solution for defaulting to the phone mic when bluetooth is connected. I'm convinced there has to be a way to do it, what am I missing?
Solved it once
I have a Htc Desire 600, and my way of solving it is at the call menu there are small icons while on call, there's a bluetooh option, phone option and a handsfree option, i kept the phone option on default, hope that helps
Cheers!
