I think the title is self explanatory.
DP5, Pixel 3.
Whole works fine otherwise.
It reaches 100% but then it drops to 99 or 98% and stays there, could reach 100% again.
Attached you can find a battery stat as you can see WHILE charging and plugged in, it drops to 99%.
Tried cleaning the charging port, charging it while off (this way it stays at 100%, this makes me thinks it is a software problem) and it still happens.

Hi everyone,
Its not a new issue actually but it start annoying me lately.. My phone never charges full for a long time, it always stops at 96%-97%. I am not talking about when i unplugged it drops to 96% issue, mine not drop or says charged it just stucks at 96% and stay at charging state.. Is there any way to make it work normally??
And i would like to add that i am using MIUI for a while now but i also had this issue with some other roms..
Thanks.
This is normal for the NxS, meant to increase total battery life.
You can "force" it to go to 99/100% by enabling the "keep display active while charging" option in development menu. 96-99/100 will approx take 3-4h using the normal ac cable.
However I'd not recommend that unless you are recalibrating your battery (deleting battery.bin).
thanks for your reply rentaric. i know its normal but i was not asking that. it used to charged 100% and said the phone is charged like then when unplugged it drops to 97% again just like you said.. but now my phone stays at 96% it always stays in charging mode i want to know is there any way to make it work normal again?
So I plugged my GN in last night and stayed up late enough to see it reach 100%, but I left it charging all night. When I woke up this morning, the lock screen said Charged but my battery widget said 97%. This has happened a few times and every time I can fix it by just unplugging it and plugging it back in. Anyone know why it does this? Could it be because I get lots of emails at night and the LED running all night decreases the battery a little? Thanks!
I think it stops charging when it reaches 100%, therefore the 3% may be lost during that time. This is a good thing, because a laptop, or anything else, eventually the battery will go bad. When you unplug it, then plug it back in, it can cause that battery to go bad faster. Again, I think this is it. My phone seems to do that. I would not worry about it though.
Whenever I plug my phone into its charger, it charges extremely slow. It would take a full 8-10 hours for it to charge from 0 to 30 percent. After that, it caps off at around 40 percent. The charging symbol is always present. At first, I thought it was a faulty charging port. Then, I turned it off and THEN plugged it in. ??? It charges normally! In a few hours it's charged to 100 percent. I'm pretty sure it's an application or a service or something preventing the phone from charging normally. I am considering a wipe (it'll probably solve the problem), but it would really suck to lose everything on there. If there's anyway to detect the problem and remove it without wiping my phone, I would be very grateful.
Some important stuff:
*cable works fine
*battery works fine
*stock rom, stock kernel
*rooted

If have custom recovery try reflashing it especially if using CWM. Then wipe dalvik/cache. Kernel and recovery both affect charging. Should charge in about 1-1.5 hours at most. Still could be cable. Battery charge is on separate pins.
I just got a new VZW GS3 through insurance and am having similar problems right out of the box unrooted bone stock. I charge it and notice that it charges slower than my last one and will never charge past 89%. The charging indicator stays on but the battery starts draining from there as if it's unplugged. I also noticed that it dies before it reaches 10%.. I have tried 3 known good charging cables to rule that out. I tried unplugging and reconnecting the cable once it reaches its max and have found that I can get maybe an extra 2% before it just does the same thing.. I have not yet tried charging it with the phone off I will do so and see what happens.
As the title states, that happens sometimes. My phone reaches 5% because i couldn't charge it for whatever reason and i rush to connect it like tonight and as soon as I plugged it in it shut down and showed 1%. Is the battery slowly dying or at least low few %? Sometimes that doesn't happen, sometimes it shuts off even without connecting to charger while really low.
It's not a habit of mine to let it go down that low but sometimes it happens and it worried me.

You need to replace the battery. No other solution for this kind of problem

In time then, now it happens rarely enough but when it starts shutting off at higher % I'll do it.
Just weird that it shuts off when I connect it to charger and the remaining % disappear
It is weird but don't replace your battery yet. Wait for it to die completely because if you'll replace your battery now you will lose water resistance.
Aw man, didn't know about that. Today when I got home it was at 9% and as I connected it it dropped to 4% so it seems I've lost 5% somewhere
Hi everyone, im having a problem with this phone:
1- Charging the phone never reach 100% in one charge, it always stops charing at a random number, for example 70%, no matter how much time i let the phone charging it never goes past that. The solution is unplug and plug again, then it reaches 100%.
2- The number 1 is not a big deal but this is. The phone automatically turn off at a random number again, let say 66%, and i cant turn it on. If i connect the phone to the charger it says 0% battery. Is not like the % freezes at 66% and i use it all day and then turn off. For example, i have the phone at 100%, i start using it and i see the % going down like normal and after an hour or two of using it suddenly turn off and im not able to turn it on again because the battery is at 0%.
I tried:
Hard reset, wiping cache, data.
Hard reset, wiping cache, data and installing the latest stock rom.
New battery.
Different charger.
I have no idea what else to try, anyone have a clue?
Thanks!
I think the battery is broken, also had the problem. Then I bought me one on Ebay for 9,99€ and now everything is good again.
Try using a -known- good cable and charger.
Make sure the port contacts are clean and debris free. Always charge with screen off.
You can also try powering the phone off and see if this alters its charging pattern.
My best guess...
When it auto shuts down again pull the battery and measure its actual voltage to determine if it's at about 6%.
If actual voltage indicates it's at 6%* may be a bad battery (limited capacity) or a hardware failure (shutting the charge cycle down prematurely).
If battery actually has 20% or higher when the phone shuts down) it indicates a hardware failure in the phone.
If battery temp exceeds about 102°F during charging the phone will abort the charge; make sure this isn't the cause. A hot charging battery in a cool room could indicate a battery or hardware failure. If battery temp exceeds 107°F or so in operation the phone may also auto shutdown.
Excessive cold (>32°F) will effect battery capacity severely.
Don't charge a cold Li battery (under 70°F).
Never charge if at or below freezing**.
Li's like a charge temp range of 80-95°F
They prefer frequent, short mid range charge cycles (40-65%) vs topping them off beyond 80%
*hunt down the voltage/% charge for this battery
**can cause Li plating which will permanently degrade the cell
