Replace system odexed apps with deodexed - MTK6589 Android 4.2.1 Device

Hi all, I have a Chinese clone of Galaxy S4 called No.1 S6 with MTK6589 Cpu and Android 4.2.1, well, I tried to replace some system app like contacts, phone dialer and messages with the same apps taken from the Slim bean 4.2.2 Rom for the Google Nexus 4 that has the same screen resolution. I odexed the slim bean apks with dexopt-wrapper as explained here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1462648, I signed them with auto-sign software, so I put them into system/app folder with right permissions, deleting old apks first, rebooted the phone, wiped cache in recovery and when the phone booted the apk I replaced was gone, so I wanna ask u if it's really possible to make this kind of replacement or I made a huge mistake, of course this is a noob that talks...

It's maybe an stupid question but, did you tried to install it normally? With the apkinstaller or filemanager.
Well, If it's to replace other apps. Uninstall it first and then try to install your port. Without any wipe or so.

Unfortunately these apks can't be installed as normal apks, the installation fails if u try, and I can't uninstall them neither because system apps have to be replaced manually in system/app folder. So the question was if the problem is with the odex file or the signature or if there is an absolute incompatibility between OS and the ported apks that I want to replace. I'm afraid that's not possibile at all because system apps have deep connections with the OS...

you can't replace apps from 4.2.1 with 4.2.2 thats your fault.

[Q] Issue in hangouts & facebok

Hi,
I have Honor (H60 L12) and I have some issue with it.
Phone is rooted and I flashed gapps but when I try to change new notification sound for Hangouts I have FC.
It's first issue
Second is in facebook, I can't open settings for this app when I tap this option app is closing.
Is anyone have any solution for this issues

I have the same problem, with both applications. My phone is dual sim, 32 GB, stock rom B313.
No solutions. Did you find any?

For FB I resotred backup from other phone and it's working but for hangouts I didn't find any solution.

I have no backup so I have to live with these bugs. I hope that a future update will solve them.

I did backup facebook using titanium backup on phone which I used before.

Dialer, SMS and CONTACTS apps crash

Your help will be greatly appreciated:
Last night some apps were updated automatically, and since then my dialer, sms and contacts apps crash whenever i try to use them. If I boot the phone in 'safe mode', those apps work OK, but I can't use the other apps I have (except for the play store).
Any idea how to fix that without resetting?
How can I check which apps were updated?

Crash means fc so need log (if you have root)
About how to understand wich app updated depend on wich android version you have but in application (where you can clear data of app) updated app should write remove the update..

So you can just understand remove update of apps.

I did as you suggested and it worked.

Disable YouTube updates

I've installed YouTube vanced via magisk manager but before I've removed the YouTube system app via titanium backup.
YouTube vanced works great but I've always a YouTube update notification in the PlayStore also if I disabled automatic updates for the app.
Is there a way to hide the notification for the app?
I just want to hit "update all' button to update all my apps except for YouTube.

Detach from Magisk Repo or Titanium Backup

I had the exact same thing the other day. Titanium doesn't work as after a few hours the notification will reappear

read the vanced description in magisk it tells you that you can add an enable_detach file in the cache folder to detach.
for me, this has created problems sometimes so i've stopped doing it.

Once you do that, you can click update all, a window will pop-up, tap Skip.
Now all apps will be updated, EXCEPT YouTube ;]

The detach facility is buggy as hell.
I just use the non-root version with MicroG and disable the pre-installed app.

Poco F2 Pro, MIUI 12.0.2.0, System apps updater crashes after debloating

I debloated my Poco F2 Pro with MIUI 12.0.2.0 and after that I had to re-install "Mi Wallpaper" for Settings -> Wallpaper not to crash.
Anyhow, I can't figure out which causes Settings -> System apps updater to crash at start up.
I have uninstalled with Xiaomi ADB/Fastboot Tools everything else except these:
Calculator
Clock
Downloads
Facebook
Gboard
Google Chrome
Google Maps
Google Photos
Google Play Games
Mi Wallpaper
POCO Launcher
Wallpaper Carousel
(nothing has been disabled)
What do I need to reinstall for the systems app updater?

It crashes because you uninstalled Downloads app which is very essential to system app updater.

Thanks! I feel so stupid now, I re-installed the Systems App Updater and now it works :laugh: Somehow I had totally missed that I uninstalled it too. By the way, I didn't install the Package Installer and still the Systems App Updater worked and updated the few apps it could.

Just a tip if English is not your first language (it's not mine either), "I have uninstalled with Xiaomi ADB/Fastboot Tools everything else except these" except in that sentence means that those apps I listed are the ones I have in my phone, everything else has been uninstalled. So I have/had Downloads app.

The way you said it, May be confusing, i tought that the one listed at first you uninstall it.
