Just got a FRD-AL00, whoever there is no OEM Unlock option in the developer menu. What does this means?
I'm still waiting for my Huawei codes since I don't have the phone registered to the Huawei ID in more than 14 days. So I don't know if the bootloader unlock will work without that option.
I also just got this phone and there is no 'oem unlock ' option in developer settings.. Anyone know what the deal is here?
I dont have the OEM Unlock option either. Same case.. I have the honor 8 frd-al00, but my chinese version is already updated to android 7 y emui 5.
All the honor 8 tutorials require that this option should be enable.
So.. what we can do? how we can solve this? I already receive my code for the unlock.
I want to root and debrand the frd-al00 to the international version al09, mentioned here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/help/debrand-frd-al00-to-frd-l09-update-to-t3552445
But without this option I cant do it.

Not very good idea...
Phone get unstable in short time with this rebrand made... After watch video or photos in short time applications stop to run...
It will not work good, i had this experience and after all had to go back to AL00...
And it was not only me, on 4pda.ru forum a lot of such cases, so better think twice...

I already have the code as I mention.. but not sure what are you saying.. this mean that even without enabling that option i can make the unlock? but not sure if something bad may happen if the OEM unlock option in disable, and like I said.. that option it does not appear in the development menu, I can find the debugging usb option, but not the other. Some al00 has this OEM unlock option, but not all, maybe depends on the update I get.. my phone auto update to emui 5.0 and android 7.

you did the same steps that the link guide I quote?
If rebrand is not an option.. then my other options are not good either, because I read that all mods had reboot issues and some other problems.. they dont have the camera apps either, just a basic picture app who does not take a good advantage of double lens system.
So.. what we can do if we have the al00? I just want to use voice search commands (not chinese commands).

Is any way to debrand without the emui 4.1, I have emui 5.0, my honor 8 is frd-al00, I cant find the rollback file for emui 4.. I find one for frd-al09 from 5 to 4.1, but that is the european version..
I have the bootloader code, but I can not activate the oem unlock option because it does not appear in my development tools, you told me that I have to go back to 4.1, but I have no idea how to do that.. or when I can find the file to do it..
Any advice.. ? What happen if I use the rollback file for the frd-al09?

u can use Hisuit to go back to EMUI 4.1.
Or may try go to fastboot, unlock bootloader in fastboot? Maybe it work. Shutdown Honor, hold volume down + connect ur device to PC via USB cable. Then u try to unlock, if not, the only way is EMUI 4.1.

I was able to rollback to 4.1 with hisuite, and I manage to unlock bootloader and install twrp.
I made a backup of all my files, then download the frd-al09432b131, (my phone is frd-al00 which also has 4gb - 32gb), I unzip the firmware and I place it in the ssd card under the folder dload. (not sure if only the update.app file should be in it, or also the other folders like meta-inf and oeminfo, I try with both).
Then from the twrp I did a format data and I wipe data once. Then I shutdown the phone.
press volume up +down+ power until the update starts to run..
But..
At 5%, a alert come up saying:
------------------
Software install failed!
Incompatibility with current version.
Please download the correct update package.
(reboot system now)
------------------
But well, I dint reach so far to resign now.. I am downloading a new firmware from the honor site:
Honor 8 Firmware(FRD-L09, Android 6.0, EMUI 4.1, C432B131, United Kingdom)
I hope this work... or I may be doing something wrong?
Edit: still happen with the new firmware that I download, not sure what to do.. I need supersu for this?

because I want to rebrand my phone.
a friend mine bought it for me in China, I didnt know it would be so different in software without google voice search.
So reading guides from this forum, I saw 3 rebrand guides, from chinese version to the similar version of europe (which seems to be the global), I am from Argentina.
I cant post the link of the guides because I am still newbie in this forum.

Hello,
1st i want to say, that I am not a phone expert. I got (I could not choose) this Mate 9 but how you already know it's chinese version. I was researching but after reading so many threads and websites I got tired and confused that I had to sing up for help. I would like to ask if there is a option how to unlock bootloader, because the officially way through Huawei website seems to be shut down. The link for registration for the unlock code does not work and I could not find any information about it on the huawei website. So is there any free way how to unlock it ? I want to change the region and get fully English rom. Another question is, I read on couple websites that AL00 should get the new EMUI 8, I have in the phone 5 and I am wondering how to upgrade to version 8. Again I found some info and files for download but boodloader has to be unlocked but on other side I saw something that it should be officially upgrade, so I will still need unlock bootloader ? If no, how can I make upgrade to emui 8 ? Current I have B186 and next new upgrade I have B233, I didn't download that one yet. Do I need some special build and after it will be installed will show up the upgrade to emui 8 ?
Thanks a lot for help.
Guys i want to root my device - Honor 6X BLN-L21. how can i do this?
after rooting my device ill be able to update my software ? i have the latest android 7 official update from huawei installed. i havent unlock the bootloader or anything like that.
thank you and soory for my english.
Follow this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6x/how-to/root-huawei-honor-6x-install-twrp-t3671822
And for obtain your bootloader unlock code, note that the listed procedure is impossible to follow at the moment, because the necessary pages to ask for the code are unavailable on Huawei sites. But you should be able to have a work around thanks to the module available here https://forum.xda-developers.com/ho...cial-request-bootloader-unlock-codes-t3785100
I am resurrecting this thread as I have the **same** issue a year after.
I have recently aquired a BLN-L21 Honor 6x europe, with EMUI 5.0.3
This is the exact ROM version: BLN-L21C432B382
It has been rooted using dc-unlocker, but now I have some problems with rooting (that was my entire objective since start)
Compatible TWRP are scarce, I can only make it work with OpenKirin TWRP 3.1.1.0, linked in the guide above, or EliteTWRP-3.2.1.0, but this one cannot read any internal partitions, so I guess it's not very useful.
As soon as I flash Magisk-19.3.zip the device boots and asks me for a decryption password, that I clearly don't have.
So Flashing Magisk this way makes the terminal useless.
Can anyone suggest me a couple of TWRP + ROM that supports root quite well on this device?
EDIT: ouch, I defeated myself. I just tried to use SuperSU-v.2.82-201705271822 and it works like a charm on stock rom.
I wonder why Magisk makes a mess of the partition
I just discovered that Huawei has removed the bootloader unlock function on their site. Yet I still got a Huawei GR5 2017 (BLL-L22).
As a poor person who just wanted to customize his phone, could I ask for help as to get an unlock code for this model?
My IMEI is 862494034508483.
Can someone help me by giving me an unlock code for this? Thanks!

You'll have to try a paid service.
There are DC-Unlocker and HCU.
You could also try with ministry of solutions – they unlocked my 6x for 4$.
If ever I do this, which I dont think I could do (since having $4 / P 250 is something I have to save penny by penny), I could switch my branding to 6x? or have a root? or direct upgrade to either nougat or oreo?
Still stuck on BLL-L22C636B130, with no updates being given by the updater.
Well… I did not see you got a BLL. Don't know about that phone exactly, but there are manny models on the "we can unlock"-list by ministry of solutions – so unlocking bootloader should be possible.
Also I guess root and twrp wouldn't be problematic, since the phones seem somewhat the same.
But if 4$ is too much for you, you maybe should ask yourself, if you really need unlocked bootloader.
Manny customizations can be achieved by installing a different home screen launcher app (Microsoft Launcher i.e. is free and brings lots of features).
I mean – what do you whant to customize, what do you expect from another android?

Playstore greenify site sais "even without root!".
Disabling Apps you can do with just hiding them - wich should be possible w/o root. Why would you bother, when they're hidden…
Why you need root else?
Disabling system app via root will not make them autostart, thus save me more battery and it wont update. Greenfiy has the option for root, whch allows me to make system apps (preinstalled apps) sleep as well.

Most backgroud apps don't draw that much power – most power usualy is comsumed by display backlight. So dimm that, also choose a full-black background…
If you need root, there's probably no cost free way to achive it – full power over ones own device seems to be luxury nowadays.
Not advocating huaweis no-unlockkeys policy – but it is how it is.

Uh. Just a minor correction. Using a black wallpaper won't help save battery. If your device has an OLED display then a black wallpaper saves battery. Since we have LCD, it doesn't make a difference.
Also, to unlock your bootloader, as the previous person said paid is the way to go. However if you can't then try two things. Either write a really nice mail to Huawei or visit one of their official service centers and demand they unlock it.

If you want stock EMUI 8 is available. If you are up to custom flashing you can flash Pie ROMs. Both of these require EMUI 8 so let's start with that. There is a possible workaround which I did last week.
First, I had upgraded version of Android 8.0 (MHA-L29 8.0.0.375(C567)(Stock Official) and possible to obtain the bootloader code when I start this process.
Here is what I did.
1. Downgrade to Android 7.0(EMUI 5.0) by using Huawei's HiSuite software
Click "Update" and select earlier version.
Current : MHA-L29 8.0.0.375(C567)(Official)
Earlier : MHA-L29C567B190(Official) | 2.45GB | Android 7.0(EMUI 5.0)
2. Using 3rd Party tool/service(about $5), I was able to get the bootloader code
In my case, I used DC-Unlocker tool(FREE) and purchasing 4 credits($4.71).
With the bootloader code, you can move to the next steps(root, custom ROMs, etc...)
Hope it helps!

Yes, I saw this before I try - Well I took the risk.
I can only assume that my phone was fine since it was stock & locked boot loader when I downgrade.
Now, my phone is unlocked boot loader & rooted with latest OTA Update applied - when OTA applied,
it locked the boot loader again which I had to unlock it again.

Thanks & Really Sorry for misunderstanding & misreading.
Starting 8.0.0.377 and newer version can't downgrade it => it will brick the phone!
Up to MHA-L29 8.0.0.375(C567) and lower versions can downgrade by using Huawei's HiSuite software.
Hope this clears and provide right(safe) information. I do not want to provide dangerous (which will brick) information to all.

Hi, I have MHA-L29 8.0.0.370 (C432) security patch 1 july 2018, can i unlock the bootloader with DC-Unlocker ?
I tried to downgrade with Huawei's HiSuite (version 9.0.3.300_OVE) but the "Update, swith to other version" doesn't appear.
Up to which version 8.0.0.??? ( or security patch ? ) can Mate 9 be downgraded with Huawei's HiSuite
Up to which version 8.0.0.??? ( or security patch ? ) can DC-Unlocker unlock the bootloader ?
It seeems like you need to first upgrade from Nougat 7.x to Oreo 8.x WITH Huawei's HiSuite,
only then the "swith to other version" is available in Huawei's HiSuite to roll back from 8.x to 7.x ... correct ?

HI. I have a Mate 9 MHA-L00 with unlocked bootloader and installed KANGVIP ROM (Android 7...). I would like to try OpenKirin based PIE ROM, but in order to do that I would have to go back to stock EMUI and thus my bootloader would be re-locked. Is there a way to read the bootloader code again on an unlocked bootloader MHA-AL00? I am googling but can't find anything. I know there is DC-Unlocker but I would like to use that as a last resort. Thanks.
