Facebook and messenger can't connect after root - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Not sure what happened but I can't see anything but the news feed on the Facebook app and messenger isn't connecting. Did anyone experience this and have a fix?

mine is rooted and they both work fine. i see no reason why that should matter.

I don't either. I'm not sure why it doesn't work it just stopped after I rooted the device.

You did a fresh install and not just a reinstall from Titanium Backup?

force close and clear data on both

Yes sir I did. Multiple times. I'm not sure what the issue is. Its very strange because everything else works just Facebook and messenger. Instagram links don't open as well. Facebook says "can't connect, tap to retry"

I installed adaway and that might have been the turning point. Not sure.

Add it to MagiskHide.

I did but I'm getting the same issue. Is there something I should do after that? I restarted, cleared cache, data, and force stopped the app.

I would completely uninstall the app, reinstall, add to MagiskHide before you even open the app for the first time after you reinstall it. If that doesn't work, I have no idea. That's super weird that you're having this issue. I've never had this problem before.

How to fix Missing Apps on Market?...Read on...

Hi,
I have encountered many cases where people cannot see some apps in the market. Luckily I found a way to tackle this problem. Here try this, it should work, however I only tested this on my x8...
Settings —> Applications —> Manage Applications
Choose All
Choose Market
Force Stop
Back out, choose Google Service Framework
Force Stop
Clear Data
Back out to the homescreen, run the Market (it should fail – that’s what I want!)
Reboot
Wait at least one minute after the system boots up, then retry the Market.
So did it work for you?
Just clear data for market and force stop. Then re-open works for me.

Erm, I accidentally cleared market data too, and now my market can't work.

Even after a reboot? I will clear cache & data on Market & reboot to solve this issue, though I have never messed with the Google Services Framework.

There's 20 kb of data but the wipe option is greyed out. Cache is empty.

Mate try this 2 or 3 times and then it might work, because It didn't work for me the first time either, but after the third try it works. And remember to switch off your phone straight after it tells you to and remember to wait for a couple of minutes after reboot.
All I ever needed was to clear market data... (And use TB to re-enable autoupdate for everything after that.)

GMail not "push" syncing

Hi all
For some reason, despite being clearly ticked to auto sync, it only refreshes manually.
Any ideas? Some other apps like Words With Friends have also stopped syncing.
I haven't done anything and am running stock 30O update unrooted.
Cheers.

Sync works fine here!
Did you accidentally tik the Sync Icon on the QuickSettings screen and disabled syncing?
No. That was one of the first things I checked.
Have you tried removing the Google account from your phone and then readding it?
If not then clear cache to Google Play Services, remove your Google Account, reboot.
Add your Google Account and it should work.

see if this is checked Gmail app>Label settings> Notify for every message.
if it is unchecked, check it.
I haven't, but that wouldn't explain other apps not syncing either. It seems it is a general push notification issue.
They will arrive if I reboot my phone but after that, no joy

Good point.. as well as to add,
- Any hosts block (Adblock?)
- Blocking permissions to apps
- Greenify (Don't greenify every single app)
- Xposed modules?

Nope, none of that. Running stock with nothing like that enabled.
Oh okay well just give the clear cache, remove acct, reboot, add it again. See if it works.
OK. I removed all accounts including Google, and wiped cache and phones cache from recovery. Still seems like it's not working and have to so it manual.
Still no joy. Just checked GMail and had plenty of emails from last night. Reset phone then I guess.

I believe they wanted you to clear cached from Google Services in the app section and not in recovery. I have had similar issues like yours before and clearing Google services data and cache have helped
I did that too prior
My problem has been resolved by removing Gmail update, and now it's pushing again!

Videos and sound stops working

I have a rooted S6 international version with magisk and with OdexLite ROM and sometimes I can't play videos, anywhere, youtube, facebook, instagram, stories from snapchat, etc.Oh,and another problem is the sound just cuts off, like I can't hear a notification or anything and I can't play songs,it's says "Failed to play track" .If I restart my phone it solves the problem, but just for some hours and i don't want to do this 4 times a day.It is the ROM problem or it's a root problem?

Oh wow, finally with the same problem as mine, but really didn't notice about the video problem, but I surely have it sometimes. See my thread here:

Try uninstalling Facebook Messenger for some time and check if the problems persist, that's my case and most probably yours too.

I'll try, never thought about that.I'll come back with the results
How'd it go?
I'm trying to check if there's a setting forcing this bug, but I think it's something inside the app that's causing it, unfortunately.

I'm surprised that solved the problem,I installed messenger lite and it's all good, but I don't want to keep it forever.I'll install the original messenger again and see what I can do.
You tried blocking all the notifications from messenger?

I too am using Messenger Lite. I have not turned off notifications because that will disable a very important feature of the app , but other than that, I have tried everything and there isn't a single setting that is causing the problem and only the Messenger team can fix it since it's inside the app.
If we send more emails to them, they'll maybe consider fixing it.

I tried reinstalling two different apps that weren't working and that worked great. However, I still have a problem with messaging. The system is saying that certain text messages have not been sent. But I know they were because people responded to them.
The default messaging app cannot be uninstalled so I am not sure what to do.

Tried another messaging app?
Both messaging apps have same problem.
I tried uninstalling Evolve, but it didn't help anything. This is more of a system problem where it thinks messages haven't been sent so they show up in red. I know they were sent. It's very odd. The problem went away for now in that it's been showing messages as sent, so I suppose I can ignore it.

Deleted emails keep reappearing

Hey guys I need your help.
Over the past few weeks, my Gmails keep reappearing as unread messages after I delete them, across all of my email accounts on my phone. I had this before the oreo update too. It's driving me nuts.
It's something to do with the Gmail app I guess. Have you guys experienced anything like this?
Thank you
Anybody? Please?
Try to delete them from your PC.
Yes I've noticed Gmail acting a fool..I cleared cash and rested and it's been ok since

I just realized. It sounds like a sync problem. You delete the email from the app but it isnt letting the server know so then it just hangs until the server tell the app that the email hasnt been deleted so it reappears in the app.
Its just a theory, but it is possible and likely in my opinion. Clearing app cache and data, uninstall, clear the phone cache from recovery. Then reinstall may fix it.

Hey thanks for the advice. I've cleared the app cache and data, the problem is still there. I can't completely uninstall the gmail app from the phone since it's a preloaded app. It will only uninstall the updates.

Last thing I can think of on the phone side. Clear the cache, uninstall the updates, turn off sync, and dont open it.
Put another google account on your phone and remove the one the emails keep messing up on and turn sync on. Then restart the phone, turn sync back off, add the old email, remove the new one, restart the phone, and turn sync back on.
If that doesnt work. Login to the account on a pc and check any of your settings and delete ALL unwanted emails.
Thats about all Iv got. After that id suggest contacting google.
