which case did you buy? - ASUS ZenFone 6 (2019) Questions & Answers

Hi all
I've always had a case for my phones (and thin screen protector). Thanks to these I've never destroyed a phone when I've dropped it. Usually going with a spigen.
With the zenfone having the flip out camera, what cases did you all choose? Any recommendations?
Thanks

Wrong sub forum! There's a dedicated corner for accessories.

Oops my mistake. Sorry

There is a pretty neat case coming with the box that just fits fine...

Melkco (Carrymobile), SGP, Zenus cases.

Hi,
I'm looking for a leather case for my SGS. I would like to have something like the Zenus case, but I would prefer one protecting the upper corners too. I've seen SGP ones, but the right corner is not protected because this case is made for Asia, where SGS can have a TV antenna, and as far as I know there are not SGP cases with both corners protected (sgpstore.com). Finally, I've found Melkco ones (sold in carrymobile.com) especially Jacka ones and they are goodlooking. Any of you have tested some of them (Melkco, SGP)?
Sorry, but I am a new user and I can not post the links yet.
Thanks in advance and regards
I am using the sgp gariz atm and would have to say that the top right corner is still fairly protected due to the way the case hugs the phone, with only a couple millimetres at any angle being exposed. Any damage done would either be very unlucky or phone breaking regardless of a case.

I have the Zenus and the top corners are 'exposed', but the leather top cover sits further out than the corner and protects it.
Melkco case
I have a Melkco case and have made a video on youtube, unfortunately i am unable to post links as i am a new user
If you search "Galaxy S GT-I9000 Melkco Jacka type case hands on" in youtube its the first vid.
Anyway I have to say its a pretty good case and is a bit cheaper then the zenus one.
Thanks and three questions
Thanks mrwindmil,
I've seen your review and I like the case...
Only three questions:
1. Is there any chance of scratching due to the clasp to the phone? (I think not because it is soft leather, is'nt it?)
2. How about the smell? Because I previously bought a case from pdair and it smells like petroleum or paint, nothing like true leather, and it's not very nice...
3. How long did it take to receive the case since you paid?
Thanks again and regards
1:Ive had no problems with scratching. The clip that holds the flap is soft leather on the inside. The whole outside of the case is soft leather, the inside being some sort of felt micro fibre.
2: In my opinion it smells like true leather and it also feels like true leather.
3: It took about a week to receive the item after I paid, which was too Australia.
I have one and I am totally satisfied. I work in an environment that I refuse to be without this case. With this case you do not need a screen protector as it is always protected, except when you are using it.
BTW, isn't there a thread that one can post a group shot of their phones and accessories?

[Q] Case input

I've been searching the net for a hard case for my i9000m (currently in for repairs..)
I have looked at a few and these peak my interest, but I would like your input on what to buy and it doesn't have to be from something I post.
Here they are:
Case-Mate Tough
and
Anycall Punch Mesh Case
Thanks for your opinions!
About the Anycall Mesh case: it's nice and cool, doesn't add too much thickness to your phone but... it does not protect well. I am using mine about 2 months and it already cracked (not completly, some small piece in the upper left side had broken). It's still usable, but imo it's not very durable (i'm very careful about my phone). I'm looking for something with more protection, but I fear there will be nothing that stylish
How about any kickstand cases that have a lip on the front to prevent screen damage?
Problems with some hard cases is it might damage the color on the edges and most of them doesn't protect the upper top and bottom of the phone, so its not 100% protection.
But you have a good choice with a combination of hard and soft material in single case. The inside of the case that which comes in contact of the phone's body is rubber (silicon) and outside has a good hard fibre. Might be bit expensive but great value for money and protection of phone.
Otterbox cases
this is another case from Casemate,

I am using it from last 6 months.

Last time I ordered I just ordered it online from the US - delivery was pretty quick...

This one is 2 bucks, and kicks ass, I ordered it for building a custom car mount but it would make a great hardcase as well, adds very little to the size of the phone.

I tried to order one but I get an error message when i try to submit my order. The customer support has not answered to my complains yet.
I found a dealer in germany but they start to deliver the boxes at the end of january. I mean the END OF JANUARY... I'm not sure I can wait that long...
I use the Case-mate Tough case.
Works great, I feel my phone is pretty safe from being in my pocket and possible drops.
It comes with a soft rubber layer case and a hard case for protection.
My only issue is that to me I can be pressing the power button on the side, without realising it sometimes.
Overall I highly reccomend it.
Buy This awesome kickstand case dude!

The Hinge is made of metal and i have been using it for half a year now and it hasn't shown any sign of weakness.

I ordered mine two days ago and go it two minutes ago. It fits perfect and gives a secure feeling right from the start. And it looks cool. Would you like to know more?
It's a compromise.
The thicker the case, the more cumbersome it becomes, but the better protection it offers.
The thinner the case, the slimmer and lighter the phone is, but the less protection it offers.
I keep my phone in my jeans pocket, so a thick case like otterbox is completely unacceptable to me. Currently I am using a SGS leather flip open case. http://www.exportprive.com/advanced...escription=0&keywords=galaxy S&sort=2a&page=4

Yeah, amazing protection on mine as well. only drawback is that the screen protector does not protect the entire screen and misses a lot of the buttons on the bottom.
I use a screen protector by 3M. The Vikuiti DQC-160.

Video Review: TPU S-Case for Nexus 4

Hey fellas,
I used to post my reviews over on the Galaxy S3 forums (and the Galaxy Nexus, S2 and Nexus S forums before that), but since I've recently gotten my Nexus 4, I decided to start my coverage as soon as possible. As most of you know, brand name cases are still hard to find but should be released in the next few weeks. I decided to pick up a temporary case in the TPU S-Case and wanted to share my thoughts. This is a simple TPU case that offers contrasting matte and glossy portions to create a cool design.
The case offers a moderate amount of protection without adding too much bulk and is extremely affordable at only 5$! I'm happy to take a look at any cases you'd like me to, so feel free to recommend anything! I will be posting a ton more content on the channel. Check out the full review of the S-Case below and let me know what you think:
I remember your vids from the Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus forums. Nice to see you covering accessories for the N4 as well
as for the case, I'm tempted to order one because of the cheap price tag to hold me over until the Rearth slim gets here but then again it might arrive the same time as my N4

Thanks man! Rearth cases ship on the 30th, so you'd only have this one for a few days. I'm really excited to get the Slim case though, looks terrific and Rearth has yet to disappoint me!
I had one of these for my nexus S and threw it away in the same day.
This is just a piece of rubber bulky trash..
My case came in yesterday from kaycase. I got it for .99 cents!!!
There were several brands selling these on Amazon for various prices. It's hard to pick when there are almost no reviews, because no one has their phone. o.o I ended up buying one from "YESOO" (best name ever) that, for ~$6, came with a stylus too. Sure, why not? I like that they are providing clear options, to keep the N4 sparkle effect, but it's sad that basically no one is making a fully clear case yet. It's all the S design. (Normally that'd be great, but the N4 doesn't need window dressing. ) The Rearth ones look really nice too (very Feather-like) but no clear ones.

Yeah, I'm on the lookout for a case that shows off the back too! Rearth is sending me their cases out late this week/early next so I should have videos up on those soon. They always make good quality products in my opinion!
I don't think we will be able to get a clear gel case because it would look like it had water under the case like the clear part ot the clear and frosted S case.

How did you get it for only .99? It's 9.99 listed now? Curious. thanks.
I actually have this case for my HTC Glacier (MyTouch 4G). It's been a very durable case that has protected my phone very well (from 8-10 foot drops from a ladder). I'm a construction worker, and this case has outlasted more expensive models from Trident Case. There is one thing I would like to point out to anyone that is thinking of picking this case up. As a construction worker, I'm not always in the cleanest of environments. This case will allow dirt, dust, and sand to collect between the case and the back of the phone. The metal back of the Glacier is very ugly to look at now because of this. As anyone who has looked into Gorilla Glass 2 knows, sand is it's enemy. This is true of all materials though, dirt and sand will wreck havoc on anything. Just a heads up to anyone that's "hard" on their device. Otherwise, I have no complaints, especially the fall protection this case has proven.
I drop my phone a lot.
I ordered one of these from ebay, the clear and frost one for $5 as well. On amazon a lot of the cases were around $10.

I wonder if one of those front-and-back screen protectors would help with that? I've noticed that with other TPU cases I've had too. (For whatever reason, my Feather on my Nexus S hasn't gathered dirt. It's nice.)
Something else that's kind of concerned me with the N4's dual glass, and a TPU case, is accidental side-crushing. Like if you put it in a pocket and then accidentally run into the corner of something. The hard cases are nice for that... aaahh! Choices! :silly: The TPU was cheap so it'll give me some peace of mind until there's more selection, at least.
So many questions!

How much bulk? What are the external dimensions of this case?
Do you use a screen protector? If yes, is the case covering it? touching it? pushing against it?
Thank you for your review!

Hey, I'm the guy that owns this case on his MyTouch 4G. Since your inquiry doesn't have a response, I'll tell you about the version I have. It's the thinnest, sleekest case I have seen for a phone that isn't a skin layer. It actually wraps around the phone, creating a lip for the front of the phone. This is great if the phone ever winds up face down, as it keeps the screen from coming in contact with the surface the phone is lying on.
I would say the case is about 1/32nd of an inch thick, adding a total of maybe a 16th of an inch to the width of the phone (sorry if this isn't helpful, I live in the US and my job consists of a lot of measurements in inches). The sides of the case have a raised diamond plate pattern to it that helps immensely with keeping your grip on the device.
With the case wrapping around the bevels of the screen, I have found that it will push on any full screen protectors I have installed. You can easily wrap the case around the screen protectors to prevent this, but I store my phone in my pocket, so when I reach in there to pull it out, I tend to grip the case which causes it to bend just enough to slip back and push the screen protector again. This of course causes the protector to bow and collect dust. If you can keep the case's edge on the screen protector, I wouldn't see this being an issue, but it is something I have experienced.
As stated, this is my opinion on the version for the MyTouch 4G, though the design seems nearly identical, with the buttons in different places. I hope it's helpful, and perhaps you'll get some information from someone with the Nexus 4 version. I'm hoping to find a durable case for my Nexus 4. With that full glass body, I don't want to hide it, but as stated previously, I'm a construction worker and need to protect it.
$2.30 on dealextreme
I found the standard S-case for $2.30 on dealextreme. I can't post the links because I'm a new member but you can find it if you look it up on their website. Probably cheaper than anywhere else, if you don't mind the shipping times.
I bought one of the ones from Amazon, mainly cause I had a $20 gift card from buying Halo 4 during Black Friday, and so I could use Prime Shipping. Here's the video overview I put together:
Note: I bought this one http://amzn.to/11PmX90 and the photos show the logo on the bottom of the back - this logo is not there on the actual product.
It's really nice. I'd rather have an Otterbox, but this works in the meantime.

I believe Ebay is where they're finding them for $5. You also end up with longer shipping times, etc. Pretty sure it's the same case at the end of the day.

OnePlus One -Plastic "Chrome" bezel around it / G3

Hello,
I'm deciding on buying the OnePlus One. I'm debating between LG G3 as it has CM12 now, and OnePlus One. I can get new G3 at around 360€ and New One is as we all know 300€. I love the form factor of the G3 (slim bezels, huge screen). But I love the look of the one more sandstone back, big screen (BIG PHONE).
I would carry my G3 in Spigen Tough Armor + glass screen protector (great look in my opinion.)
But as you can see I'm leaning more to OPO. I would rock OPO with glass screen protector (If you can recommend any good ones please do). And with official OPO flip cover (or any good cover from aliexpress or something like that, again please feel free to suggest).
As I'm buying a phone for around a year this time, I have some question for owners;
1. How does it hold up against scratches?
2. I'm the most concerned about that fake chrome band around the phone, as I had some Galaxy phones over past few years, and that chrome started to peal off after some time.. That + being easy scratched worries me the most.
3. I'm kinda perfectionist when it comes to phones (read I get frustrated real easy if there are ANY even tiny scratches)
4. As stated before I will be using my phone with glass screen protector and flip case, does anybody else rocks this? I'm not afraid of dropping it, as I'm super careful with my phones. But I'm afraid of scratching the bezels and the bottom of the phone.
G3 + Glass screen protector + Tough armor is almost mission impossible to scratch.
If I can find something like that for OPO I'm sold.
Lastly If someone has come from G3 or moved there, I would love to hear there opinion on the phones too!
That's it for the time being. Thanks for all the responses.
Hmm.. I'm on the same debate.. G3 32GB Vs OPO. I can't decide yet.
I m also looking for a tough armor type of car for one, current using Rinkge fusion n a screen protector which came with the case

That review is a six month review and he mentions how the chrome held up, or how it didn't.
I was thinking about blacking out the chrome by removing it, sanding it, then using a black dye (Rit fabric dye) to make it black. I did something similar to my old old HTC Touch phone back in 2009 lol and it came out great. But I changed my mind after seeing the disassembly process for the One.

1- No scratches here.
2- No trouble with the chrome bezel on mine, I've had it for nearly six months and it's still mint.
3- Every phone can get tiny scratches, there's not a phone available on the market today (or in future) that's scratch proof. So don't waste energy worrying about that.
4- I use a Nillkin 9H tempered glass screen protector on mine, it's very good, and cheap top ($9). You can get a variety of cases for this phone, I personally have the Diztronic TPU case, it's an excellent case (though it isn't a flip cover) and cheap ($10).
The battery life of the OPO is much better than the G3's battery life in any condition.
And I personally prefer OPO's software and screen calibration to the G3's.
Additionally, the slim bezel effect of the G3 will be gone after you'll put it in a case

Isnt it redundant to have a flip cover and a screen protector? its like have 2 screen protectors on.. lol
Anyways.. Im rocking a tempered glass protector and the Diztronic case.. its awesome.. it completely covers the chrome bezels so its well protected.. case fits very snug.. it does feel slippery.. haha...

Supcase Unicorn Beetle

Hi Guys,
Just want to post a review regarding a Full Protective Casing for our beloved Note 4. I got this casing through some seller. Not phone shops. Since I'm from Singapore, these kind of rugged and full protective cases are not available unless by ordering them through official website or Amazon.
Was surprised that there was a seller who's selling this here. Since it's a case that I've been aiming for, I decided to grab it rightaway.
The case itself is divided into 2 parts. The rubber and the hard plastic holding the screen protector. Putting it all together was quite snappy. I can say it's not too bulky or too small. Just nice.
Opening it up, it's nicely pack into a compact box. Also there'a a plastic covering the front and inside of the screen protector. No defects. I don't use the holster since it will be troublesome for me. Moving on.
Here is the link to the official site:
http://www.supcase.com/samsung-galaxy-note-4-unicorn-beetle-pro-protective-case.html
Here comes the review!!
The Pro's:
All ports covered. Including the S-Pen.
Only protector for screen. None on LED, Sensor, Front Speaker, Front Camera and Back Camera.
It's quite light if without holster.
Smooth and easy if kept in pocket. Not gonna be stuck like some cases if u try to keep and remove in n out from your pocket.
Volume, Power Button casing design is align well.
The Con's:
Fingerprint Scanning will be abit difficult as the case actually interfere with the button.
The port covers will be out of shape if continuously opened up.
Due to the smoothness of the case, it might just slip from your hands.
That are the ones that I noticed for now.
I attached 2 pics, front and back. Sorry for the lack of details and pics as I'm currently at work. LOL! Hope my review help for those who are looking to buy this case.
Here it is

I have a skinomi carbon fiber skin along the sides of my N4 and this case tore apart the skin on the side that I used to snap into the top piece of this case; as such, I believe it would be safe to assume that this case could scratch your phones metal edges. This case (for myself at least) was an extremely tight fit. As I have said in my supcase thread, this case is a really tight fit - if not too small.
I cannot say if the case will work with wireless charging, but I can assure you that your otterbox is much, much better than this supcase.
Super-thanks @JippleStar
I had installed Skinomi's Techskin last night on my Note 4 and the Otterbox Defender Series case did not accept my phone; was too resistant, and so I thought that I should stick with the Commuter for now without the Wireless Back Cover. I'll keep the Defender for back up and / or when I'm outdoors.

Its too bad the Skinomi Techskin does not include protection to the Chamfered edges. Neither do the other skins on the market. Bummer.

NP :good: I was very disappointed with this case and would never want anyone to go through that whole buy and return process, ya know? :silly:
I've never had so much trouble finding a case - or any other accessory though. I guess that's one of the downsides of having an extra large phone  & yeah, I would definitely keep the defender for days when you need that water-proof protection :good:
Microscratches on the Note 4's metal chamfered edges are unavoidable, even when applying the Otterbox cases, sad, but true. However, the way these phones were packaged, every Note 4 sold as new in its sealed box, has one or two scratches somewhere; I know this especially after unboxing close to a dozen Note 4's. First gapgate, then this. Lol.
Have to find a case once and for all, other-wise, we are only making our devices more susceptible.
Any solution for metal chamfered edges? I e-mailed Skinomi regarding this, and this was their response
"Hello,
Thank you for your email, and for your feedback. Unfortunately the item has been designed off the actual device here at the facility for the best results. However I will be more than glad to send your feedback to our design team.
Have a great day!
Best regards,
Skinomi Support"

I second that. Lol! I'm just too tired to think about the metal edges of this beast. It's bound to be scratch sooner or later. Do not care about it that much. Care about the other surroundings instead.
I'm already thinking about the Note 5. Will be the first in line when that comes out.

Well it happens to every rugged case. Especially if u have keys or coins in ur bag or pocket that u put your phone with. Same goes if u do not have a casing or cover for your phone. There will be scratches too.

Hi Guys,
Just want to post a review regarding a Full Protective Casing for our beloved Note 4.

I too have the same Unicorn Beetle case- cheap alternative for Overpriced Defender ( otterbox )..but fingerprint scanning is difficult due to front of case jutting out, so your finger doesnt get a flat
area to run across. Holster is decent- but somewhat stiff. but for 20.00... 1/3 the price, I'm happy. Phone is protected.. until a better option comes around...with a holster.

I learnt a trick. U redo ur fingerprint scanning with the case on. U can do in any position and ways as long u do slow and steady. U'll find that it works better with the casing on rather than naked. For my N4, i just have to scan the top of my thumb and otz unlocked. Give a try. Just scan follow the flow of the casing design. From top till the casing.
