Do you have any issues with Nova freezing at a black screen when going home?

not really, the home gesture doesnt work if you use the two-side return method.
i changed it to sliding from bottom (left is multi task, home then back on the right)

so the home launcher can be set to an alternate one without issues/phone reverting to the inbuilt launcher? double tap to wake works? thanks

Changing Icons

Hey,
I recall seeing a review in which the reviewer mentioned you could long press any icon and change the icon for another, it also had the option to add your own.
Has anyone tried this / can confirm?
Thinking of themeing the phone without root on an icon by icon basis - are there any icons it won't allow you to change?
Thanks!
I was hoping someone could answer this, I probably saw the same review... He didn't pass the add your own option, would be nice to be able to use icon packs

I know that if you install a launcher like Nova launcher you can indeed do that.

Yeah that's definitely an option but I'm sure I saw this functionality on LGs launcher but it looked like you could only change them on an icon by icon basis opposed to applying an icon pack?
You can but only on the home screen, just keep holding down on the icon until you hear the phone vibrate let go and then hit the paint brush next to it.
Also it does not work if the apps are in folders already.

Damn. Is it possible to add icon packs after root without changing your launcher? I'd like to keep everything the same but just change the icons.

AFAIK it's not possible without changing your launcher which also means you lose knock code support.
What about Unicon? Don't need a custom launcher it seems...

Unicon work fine using it now you need to have xposed installed
There's an app called "icon changer" which can change the app icons on the homesceen to something you choose.

Seconded: Unicon is doing the business. I've used the icons from "Ultimate G3 Theme", but there are several G3-style icon packs on the store already, anyone tried any others?

Erm, you do not lose knock code by simply changing the launcher. Launchers have no influence on it. I'm using Action Launcher and it works perfectly

Double tap to wake/sleep does also work with other launchers. It's integrated in the system and therefore not being changed by other launcher which is just an app with a different UI. Actually everything works no matter if you use LG UI or different launcher. The only possibility to change system settings is via root + Xposed installer with G3 tweakbox and/or gravity box. So no worries

Couldn't get it to work on mine for some reason with nova launcher 3.2 beta so went back to the stock launcher.

Hm, that's strange. I haven't been using Nova for quite some time so I'm not sure but it might be some Nova setting in that case. With Action Launcher it works normally.
for me the double tap to wake/sleep only works on dalvik runtime, the moment i convert to art it refuses to work

I now own this phone and I can confirm you can change the icons to some crap options off LG or you can Google some nice PNG files on Google and set them yourself. It only changes them on the home screen though and not the app drawer [emoji106]
Well double tap to wake up to Lock screen or use knock code to Home Screen and double tap to sleep work perfectly for me using Nova.
To double tap to sleep I have an app titled 'Turn Off' in which to get it to work where you simply double tap anywhere on the Nova Home screen I went to Nova Settings/Gestures and for Double Tap gesture I assigned a shortcut to the Turn Off app.
Now I never need to press the power button for both wake or sleep.
UNICON works great for me and i get to keep stock launcher for now till i get bored :good:

Double Tap to turn off screen!?

Hi guys, I know we can turn the screen on by double tapping it from locked, but can someone remind of the of the launcher that let's you double Tap to turn the screen off. I had the launcher on my z2, but have forgotten the name.
Cheers guys
You can do that with both nova ( you have to buy the prime version ) and apex. I use the first one associated with this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock and it works perfectly

Labels on Dock icons

Hi all,
Is it possible to display labels on dock icons?
I don't find the way to enable it on stock lancheur.
Cheers
Not possible ?
I don't think so.
If you don't find the icons easy to understand, you can change them with a new Theme

I saw it on the Porsche Design Mate 9, maybe they enabled it there because it doesn't use on screen keys, and they had to keep the aspect ratio of the main home screen similar.

fingerprint gesture

Anyone onow a way to use the fingerprint gesture to pull down the notification shade like in the pixel and the s8???? I tried some apps but they usually dnt wrk.... Is it a hardware limitation on the n5 that it might not b possible??? I tried fingerprint quick action when it was in the beta stage and it wrked great, but once it hit the playstore it stopped responding like b4....
Any one know a way?
Hardware limitation I think..
you can use a launcher called: Nova Launcher
but u need to buy the premium version.
to be more specific, it will not act the same way you are asking, in the premium features you have on screen swipe gesture where you can assign the swipe down gesture to show the notifications.
I'm using this method and it is really nice.

Nova launcher

I'm using Nova Launcher on my S8+ but when I swipe up to open the app drawer, I can see the home screen dock icons while swiping and it goes away when the app drawer is fully open? Is there an option to disable it?

So nothing can be done or an option to turn it off unless Nova Launcher fix it with an update? As it is fine with the stock S8 launcher with swipe to open drawer.

I use 0.5 animation speed. You can join Google+ community of Nova Launcher. Maybe someone there can help, it's very active community.

And you can reassign gestures, with pretty good granularity.
