OP7Pro w/Gcam Issues - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

I had just installed @Arnova8G2 's Gcam_6.2.030_Advanced_V2.1.190614.0200.apk earlier today.
As of this post, it is the most up to date of Arnova8G2's Google Camera apks. The detail looks amazing as expected of the Google Camera, but when I check the pictures, they have a noticeable grey filter effect going on. A second issue I ran into is when I switch to Portrait mode, the mode freezes. The final issue I've found so far is the app also sometimes freezes when switching to selfie mode.
I'm wondering if anyone's also run into some of these issues and if I should use an earlier build instead?
NOTE: This is my first time using a third party apk, so I apologize if I sound ignorant. Do apps like these automatically update or do I need to install a newer apk manually for each iteration?

Apologies
I apologize, I'm new to this forum so I'm not sure how to delete this post. I realized that I forgot to install a config file, and once I did it fixed my issues.

I reverted to the stable Arnova's Advanced 1.6 apk along with the OP7_Arnova_Beta_Fizwiz_2.0.xml config file and it works (minus some of the more advanced functionality in the settings).

@tdnguyen0 , https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/changelog566/

Ok so for front cam freezing in portrait change to nexus 6p in "advanced" then " base" and after that go to "fixs" and go to viewfinder change to YUV_420_888
For color none of the auto exposure fixes worked or white balance... The only thing that seemed to work okay for me was going to "libs" and changing to "Eszdman" its sets color gamut

Hello , i am using the application for oneplus 7 pro but i have a very big problem that i can't solve , when i take any picture with HDR+ it replays me always (processing HDR+) and still very much time to process and maybe not ! ? I don't know what i can do ??
Please replay me as soon as possible .

Google Camera pink tint fix for Omnivision sensors(MIDO)

A few days ago I was browsing reddit r/Xiaomi section and commented on this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/77p2va/i_have_a_note_4x_with_an_omnivision_sensor/dot4b9e/ about the pink tint issue that we are experiencing on Omnivision sensors. To make it short, a redditor (GeorgeKiarie) asked to post samples of the pink tint issue.
I was providing him samples of photos with pink tint and basically running some tests for him. Right off the bat when he saw the photo with pink tint, he came to a conclusion that the black levels in the camera libraries are incorrect. According to GeorgeKiarie, the default black levels was 16 16 on the Omnivision camera libs which is incorrect as it should have been 64 16.
The fix: GeorgeKiarie has modified libmmcamera_ov13855_qtech.so and change the black levels from 16 16 to 64 16.
Requirements:
- TWRP Recovery
- Root(to enable camera2 api obviously)
- Camera2 API
- GCAM version 4.0(attached)
Disclaimer: I have not done extensive testing on this fix. I have only tested this on my device (16/3gb RAM variant) so I cannot guarantee that this will also work for you. I am not responsible for any kind of damage (if any) that it may cause once you've flashed the fix but I will provide a flashable zip to revert back to default just in case. As usual, flash at your on risk.
I've also NOT tested the fix on other GCAM versions besides the one I've attached and the latest GCAM 5.1 but in theory, it should work on all GCAM ports for mido. Take note that most of my tests were done with gcam 4.0. I've also tested it on gcam 5.1 and it seems to work fine but I've only took a few shots with it.
Steps:
1. Download the attachment "Pink Tint Fix.zip"
2. Reboot to recovery and flash zip.
3. Download and install Gcam 4.0 from here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6OCKwxBBePEQmowWm5mRUR3Tk0
4. Enable HDR+ and enjoy good quality low light photos
Bugs:
- Camera crashes after taking photos in good lighting conditions but only when HDR+ is enabled.
- Random camera crashes even in low light conditions
- Camera stuck in "processing" when taking a photo under good lighting conditions
- Shutter button is greyed out and/or not responding when taking a photo under good lighting conditions
- All other bugs present in Google Cam 4.0 port.
All the above mentioned bugs only happens when HDR+ is enabled. It seems that HDR+ does not work when enabled under good lighting conditions. Please do not ask me to fix it as I am no developer. I only helped in testing. Hopefully someone smarter than me can fix these bugs. Please feel free to post fixes If you've found one and I'd include it in the OP.
All credits go to redditor GeorgeKiarie. I only helped in testing the fix and creating a flashable zip. If you wanna thank him, just visit the reddit link above and message him or something.
PS: As mentioned above, I am not a developer so all these has been written the way I've understood the issue and how it was fixed, I'm just relaying the information provided to me. Please feel free to correct me if you see something wrong and I'd gladly edit my post.

I don't have that problem, else I would test it.
On a technical note, what the guy has done is to to change the values at offset 12798 (0x31fe) from "78 41" to "80 43".
Just tested and it works but on latest version it has a slightly white tint that blurs the image

I did not experience this when I've tried the latest version. Probably the settings? Then again I haven't tested thoroughly on the latest version.

Let me explain: the latest test version from the guy that ported the camera to other phones has removed the pink tint that was previously present, and replaced it with a slightly less obnoxious white tint.
It's not great still, but also with the fix you posted my camera crashes a lot, sometimes it snaps on hdr+ sometimes nothing happens and it freezes. So the basic idea may be right, but someone can hopefully improve it

it worked. but the photos will get some coloros in the low light/at night,it's normal?(you can see the photo below, plz ignore my poor camera technology).maybe it will work better in the daytime(so i will still test it tomorrow)
anyway, it's better than the pink photos, and better than no HDR+ .
and thank you very much for doing this.:good:

Ok @chickentuna the google hdr+ is working.
Using the magic manager to install google camera patch fix the slow motion error.
BUT.
What about the dark video recording?

I have a modified apk(gcam 4.2) which came from GeorgeKiarie that has the fix hardcoded in it. I'm currently testing it and it seems that it produces much sharper HDR+ images. However there are no extra settings and you use is as it is. No HDR+ configurations just HDR+ OFF, AUTO and ON. It still crashes randomly but I think it's much stable than modifying the camera libs. Colors are rich and look better too. Perhaps I should add it in the OP for you guys to test?

Google Camera ported app on OP5T

As some of you know the Google Camera app with HDR On is great to shot low light pictures. However OP5 users as myself aren’t as lucky when using the modded Google Camera app as as users from other devices.
With OP5 we have bugs that seem to be applicable only to our case: touch to focus not working along HDR & dots pattern issue visible when you zoom in certain pictures shot with the modded camera.
Therefore I would like to ask for a favor to the first OP5T owners:
Download and install this modded camera app (I pick this version because it’s simple without tons of settings)
Test if touch to focus work when HDR is enabled and if the picture is saved (do not confuse touch to focus with touch to change main point of exposure)
Shot some pictures with low light
Feedback in this thread
If someone want to try one of the last versions of the app, then you can download it from here (shout out to Kisakuku).
The last modded version as per today 21st November is "MGC_5.1.016_7.0+C2API_v.1.3a_AllinOne.apk", but as I said the new new versions contain lot of settings that make it really time consuming to find the appropriate ones for each device.
That’s why in the OP I posted just the last version of Google Camera app with the minimum edits needed to get the HDR feature working on any Android 7.1.1 / Snapdragon 835 phones.
Yeah I dl "MGC_5.1.016_7.0+C2API_v.1.3a_AllinOne.apk"
No working focus touch
The picture is saved
They both seem pretty bad but I'm not an expert.

Are those 2 pictures that you uploaded shot with HDR On? Which settings are you using?
In OP5 depending on the combination of settings used in the app touch to focus can work or not work, but usually it’s hit and miss so it can stop working randomly.
Do you notice small dots when you zoom in on the pictures shot with GoogleCam and HDR On?
I just would like to know if OP5T has the same bugs with the ported GoogleCam has the same bugs that we have on OP5.
To make it more clear on which version and settings to use:
Please test this most recent version: https://drive.google.com/open?id=149yvCKyk2F75z_snuSjbivKF5PiWtkT9
with these settings from the screenshots: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74417844&postcount=1215
In "Advanced" settings, enable HDR+ control right at the top!
Afterwards restart the camera app (completely swipe it away from recent apps), restart it and set the HDR+ toggle to "HDR+ Enhanced".
It is also important to get some shots in daylight, as the OP5 had issues with a constantly visible dot pattern in light areas.
Also please do not upload the shots directly through the forum, as they get downsampled and compressed. Use an imagehoster like abload.de for example, or even Google Photos.
Of course it is even better to additionally post a similar shot you took with the stock camera app, so we get a better picture of how this mod works on the OP5T.
Thanks for testing!

Seems gcam's got a tendency towards a cooler white balance..same thing happens on the Essential phone. Which would you say best matches reality, color-wise?
I don't know about color but the OP is suffering from pretty major loss in detail. There's a couple of spots of light creeping through that's clearly visible in the GCam but not so much in the OP. The OP is also suffering from a lot of graininess... the top left corner next to the suitcase is a good example.

Yes, all settings are as mentioned in #5. I don't believe Touch to Focus is working, all it's doing is changing point of exposure (although I've never used TTF before so I could very well be wrong). Also the post-processing is incredibly quick with HDR+ Enhanced enabled. Coming from a Nexus 6p where it used to take ages, I can't tell if the OPT5T is just that fast or the HDR+ is just not working on the GCam app.

You could set the processing to medium or super high to see if it makes a difference in speed.
Should take much longer on the highest setting.

Dear owners of an OnePlus 5T and maybe 5 too,
please grant me an answer to a really important question: Is the Camera2-API bug fixed for the OP5T or is it still valid and OnePlus didn't do anything against it?
Please do following:
Download Open Camera > Go to settings > Scroll down > Switch on Camera2-API > Cover the rear camera with your hand > Read the values at the very top of your screen:
• If ISO 799 and 1/16,7 is still here: Nothing was fixed. Please leave a reply.
• If values differ from those values (ISO 799 1/16,7) OnePlus finally fixed the Camera2 API. Please also leave a reply.
Thanks in advance.

[GUIDE] Get the most out of X4 Camera [24/06/2019]

WARNING: I'VE TESTED THIS GUIDE ON STOCK FIRMWARE (OREO AND PIE) ONLY
Hey, just a moment before reading: did I help you? Then consider paying me a coffee or anything for my effort of course this isn't mandatory!
UPDATE: the reddit thread is dead! It will now only link to this guide since updating the same guide two times is pretty useless!
This is an expanded guide for all those people which want to reach the maximum camera quality on their X4.
Please note that this post is not intended to give advices on how to get the best shots on GCAM (but you can do it in comment or ask me, no prob!), but on how to get the best working GCAM possible setup! In other words I won't suggest parameters for HDR+ or Saturation, or custom libs etc...
FOA why you should choose Google Camera instead of the Motorola one? Well I think the following shots speak for themselves:
Cropped detail of an HDR shot:
Moto Camera HDR (taken with wide lens)
Google Camera HDR+ (taken with wide lens)
If you'd like to see more examples just look at this HQ album, you'll be amazed by the details.
Another field in which you can really apprecciate the potential of this camera is the selfie and portrait one. I will spare you from looking at my selfies (you can find one in the previous gallery), so just trust me, or do some googling!
What you need to do in order to use the GCAM on your X4 really depends on what you want to achieve:
1) GCAM 6.2.0.30 for normal lens
- Root needed: NO
- Unlocked Bootloader needed: NO
GCAM 6.2.0.30 adds Time-Lapse feature, and you can simply install it and it will run. There's a lot of ports avaiable, my suggestion goes to this one. Please remember that all the rights belong to Arnova, the original developer.
A couple of things must be tuned in order to get the best experience, so head up to the app settings and:
- on "About" check "advanced options"
- on HDR+ Options:
1) Disabled AWBGains Mod -> ON
2) RAW Format -> RAW10
3) Image Format -> YUV_420_888
4) GCAM wb Mode -> ON
Also, I suggest you to check the "Saturation adjustements" section, because this version really oversaturates photos. Try what levels are the best for you, in my case they were 1.0 - 1.0 for back camera and 1.1 - 1.3 for front camera.
2) GCAM 6.2.0.30 for wide lens
- Root needed: NOT NECESSARILY
- Unlocked Bootloader needed: YES
This is the 6.2.0.30 GCamera with Wide Lens support.
The apk is the same one
After the installation you must enter the package name (org.codeaurora.snapcam)inside the followind /system/build.prop lines:
1) vendor.camera.aux.packagelist
2) vendor.camera.aux.packagelist2
3) ro.camera.cfa.packagelist
You can do this either with a privileged file manager (i.e.: Solid) or with adb pull.
Then activate "Enable aux button" in Settings, and a little tree icon will pop up, allowing you to switch lens.
----------------------
FAQ:
Q: What works in these ports?
A: The following features are fully working:
- HDR +
- Portrait
- PhotoSphere
- Night Sight- Panoramic
- Video
- Slow Motion
- Pixel 2/3 AWB
- TimeLapse
- Motion
Q: What about AR?
A: I'm not interested in it and haven't checked, so I can't assure you that it will work
Q: 60fps videos aren't in 60fps?
A: You can shoot in 60fps by disabling video stabilization in Settings, otherwise 60fps videos will drops to nearly 28-30fps.
Q: Why does my selfie looks purple/green/any other ****ty color?
A: In that case just head over Input model in your port settings and change the front camera model (in my case to Nexus 6P with 6.1 and Pixel 3 for 6.2, but just try). This port also have specific fixes for certain titn problems
Q: I can't even start the camera!
A: this can happen on some devices. To fix try the following: long press on the app icon and use the "take a selfie" shortcut. Wait a moment and the camera should work, allowing you to use it in future just by opening it normally. If it is black even via the selfie shortcut long press the switch camera button, it should work. This procedure must he done only one time!
Q: The 6.2 ports gives me some weird greenish/yellowish balance in photos.
A: This is a problem with Pixel AWB. It reduces chromatic shifts to give you more natural photos, but it can ruin other ones. It usually happens when you are pointing an object which has an intense illumination behind it. If your port allows it just disable it, otherwise select from the viewfinder another White Balancement mode (Cloudy works best for my tastes). Pixel 2 AWB should be the best anyway, and I almost never encounter problems.
Q: Can't install the apk
A: Delete the old version before re-installing.

Need root for it, just download any version compatible with wide lens and put the package name on this line inside build.prop:
vendor.camera.aux.packagelist2
Hi there!
Anybody has any idea why gcam (MGC_6.1.021_MI8_V1a_xcam_0.apk) does not want to take any shots without HDR?? I remember gcam 5.1 working fine without HDR and the shutter speed was obvs way faster. So sometimes I want to take a fast shot and gcam 6.1 won't let me. I already tried changing the input model.
Thanks!
UPDATE: for those who want GCAM 6.1 with Night Sight I updated the suggested apk, with one that looks more stable (the old one used to crash rarely on my phone).

In case anyone had any trouble editing the build.prop remove the following space:
vendor.camera.aux.packagelist2=com.motorola.ccc,co(THIS SPACE)m.dual.GCam,com.motorola.camera2
I realized it while typing, but if you only copy and paste you might not.
With all these camera mods, is there anyway to verify the security of them? I don't think I have ever had problems with an XDA app but these are all hosted offsite.

In case anyone had any trouble editing the build.prop remove the following space:

I realized it while typing, but if you only copy and paste you might not.

Had to remove the space as well, Night Sight works wonders!
I installed option 2 and the rear cam has a yellowish tint. Is there a fix?
Hi, just tried this out on my new moto x4 (The second one with night sight) and it works pretty smoothly. I was just wondering if there was a way to enable the actual front facing flash for selfies and not just brighten the screen up like it does on default (in the recommended app at least)
ALL i want to do is have the stock camera default to manual mode... Or at least REMAIN in manual mode after I set it to that so I don't have to switch to manual every single time I start the camera app. The Auto settings on the stock camera are GARBAGE compared to my Moto X2 (2nd Gen).
Thanks a ton

[PORTED] [26 NOV update] OB1 Camera to A10 OB/10.0.2 Stock ROM [Root required]

OB1 was the only build OnePlus released with 4K video recording on all three lenses. On OB2 and now stable, only the main camera can do 4K and you have to switch to 1080p to record with wide and telephoto lens. It's very easy to port the stock OP OB1 camera to other builds via root and only requires one reboot.
Here are the Files you'll need
EDIT: Follow new instructions below

11'/26 EDIT: New features unlocked:
It's apparent that the Magisk module is not going to happen. I'd like to thank Luffitys and Amer Alrakik on Telegram for first looking into modifying the apk to make the camera edits. When this failed, I'd like to thank @elmarian756 to the Preference Manager app. He showed me it's as simple as editing .xmls in. By editing the .xmls in here, you can modify nearly every core feature of the cameras. I'd also like to thank Lord Vicky on Telegram for his hard work trying to make the Magisk module. Thanks to @Arnova8G2, we know which camera is which:
Camera ID 0: Back >>> Physical
Camera ID 1: Front >>> Physical
Camera ID 2: Telephoto >>> Physical
Camera ID 3: Wide >>> Physical
Camera ID 4: Telephoto >>> Logical better
Camera ID 5: Front >> Logical better
By editing these xmls, you'll be able to edit many core features of the OOS camera. So here goes the manual installation. It will still require root:
1) If you want 4K vid recording on all 3 sensors, delete any apk in system\priv-app\OnePlusCamera and put in a blank text document in the folder and name it whatever you want. This will remove the OP camera as a system app and reboot. You can then install v52 as a data (user) app: https://www.apkmirror.com/?post_type=app_release&searchtype=apk&s=oneplus+camera
2) Launch the camera app so it will create the shared_prefs folder with the default .xmls in it
3) Download the attached .xmls and replace the default ones in \data\data\com.oneplus.camera\shared_prefs
4) Force stop the camera app and delete its cache (not storage) for new settings to come into effect.
5) Enjoy!
v13 of the camera app is the only version that 4K60 FPS video recording can be enabled on all three sensors. The version of the app crashes a lot in this mode and why I recommend v52 without 60 FPS. I'm not sure what version it starts, but you entirely lose the ability to record video with the telephoto sensor. This is built into the apk and can not be unlocked with an xml edit, as far as I know. Macro mode works all the way up to newest (v77) apk. I believe v13 is the only version where Super Steady mode can be enabled for the telephoto lens as well as the wide angle.
I'm sure there's many combinations that I've missed, but here's what in these edits:
1) Macro mode for all three sensors (this is not even possible for 7T series.)
2) 50x zoom. It gets wavy to hold around 30x, but I just wanted to match the current GCam level.
3) Super Steady mode for telephoto sensor (v13 only (I think))
I'm sure many of you will find new features and I encourage you to use the Preferences Manager app to edit things on the fly. Please share in the threads new things you discover!!!
Happy Thanksgiving,
Doc
Interesting! Has anyone tested this on pie? I am not moving yet to 10 until some things fully work there. But this seems good!

What Android version?
Ok just tried this on pie. First, there is no such opcameraresources folder on system/priv app. (At least on pie OOS) I pasted the folder and replaced opcamera folder with the one provided on the OP. Gave the right permissions and Rebooted. And opcamera resources was gone and no video on other lenses tan main one. I dont know if system is erasing any changes i do somehow or this just doesnt work on pie. My two cents here

Thanks for trying! Is there an OnePlusCameraServices folder? Try this one with, again, 0755 permissions in the folder and 0644 on the apk

Sure! It would be nice if it works on pie. There IS onepluscameraservicefolder. Replaced the folders, gave right permissions and rebooted. Unfortunately, still have no video on other than main lenses.
I have two theories and this could be because of my current setup.
One is that any changes i do on system gets reverted back after reboot. Dont know why but it happened to me before when i edited build.prop (maybe xxx roms fault or some other magisk module). Only changes that sticks are the ones that i use with magisk module (and build a magisk module for this mod wouldnt be much difficult).
Or two, maybe the apps does gets installed, but options will not show on pie.
I do know that if i download the camera apk and install it normally it will replace old stock app and stick after reboot. So i tried manually and normally installing the apks from your mod this way but i didnt notice any different results either.

Again, thanks for trying and feedback I'll try myself soon enough, but not tonight. I want to come back to Pie for RiCE mod anyway. I miss separation of ringtone and notification volumes

Yes and horizon lights tweaks, screen burn in protection! I am currently running rice and xXx. Elemental x. Xposed with xprivacylua for some games and gravitybox. Not leaving soon although it looks like everything is on the works of being ported to 10 (even gravitybox).
Please let us know if you make this work on pie. Really lookimg forward to test this.
I tried to port this to Pie earlier today and couldn't get it to go. One thing weird that I noticed (and possibly a reason why?) is that even though OB1's camera version is 3.8.62, Pie automatically installed v3.8.52. I don't even see how that possible. Furthermore, once I sideloaded v62 as a system app, I can't load it as a data app (could on 10.) At least I have RiCE and substratum's Swift Black back!!! I can't wait for these to get updated to 10!!!

3) Reboot and Profit!!!

Man, you've made my day (night to be precise) I was waiting for it to come!! This is how it should be done from the beginning.
I decided to make a Magisk Module with the files provided and it works great for me on OOS 10. Anyone else wanna try it out?

EDIT: I tried the module on Pie just to see if it would suddenly Magiskly work and, unfortunately, it did not

Thanks. Sorry I didn't say. I'm on stable android 10. I've tried everything. I tried your files first. Didn't show up. Tried the magisk module. Didn't show up either. Rebooted and cleared camera storage. Still nothing. Very strange.

That's very strange. You're the first person that's ever said it doesn't work. Does dropping down to 1080p show all 3 lenses as it does normally? My suggestion to troubleshoot: Cut all 3 directories out of priv-app and back them up to the Downloads folder. Uninstall the Magisk module. Reboot. Install the Magisk module and reboot. See if that does it.

All three lenses show in 1080p. Once I switch to 4k, I have one lense. I have reflashed rom, did what you suggested and still nothing. I've even uninstalled gcam. Nothing. I give up.

Difference - do you mean picture quality or colours?
Hello,
I am assuming that everyone knows the workaround for:
1. Gcam not opening (crashing) on some versions 7 .0 or 6.2.
2. Screen freeze while in Picture mode
3. Neutral colours.
These can be fixed through settings or developer settings . Still if someone needs help, I would be glad to help (provided camera version is compatiable or even partially compatible with RM5P).

Freeze happens once you open settings (in some versions).
Please do this (and this procedure will work on many other versions too)
Settings/Other Settings/ViewFinder Format
Select "JPEG"
Even if it is JPEG-reselect it again and go back.
Worked?

Just click on Night sight tab again and click picture.. or else move tabs left or right and go back to night sight. No need to force close.

I messed up with the settings and It works fine now after deleting cache and data of the app, another thing is can't switched off the values on display there's no setting to turn it off and luckily I managed to disabled the use of google photos in viewing the photos which is too slow
:good:
Finally I disabled the autofocus values on the viewfinder
