Hi all,
My stock ROM Oneplus 6 (3 weeks out of warranty :crying: ) became unresponsive today and crashed.
It failed to boot back in to the OS so I cleared cache - no better, then system settings - no better, then data - no better - but this time I got the Qualcomm crash dump mode.
I've used MSMDownloadtool to flash first - enchilada_22_O.09_180517, then after that did not boot i tried - enchilada_22_O.30_190403.
MSMDownloadtool 'worked' as far as I can tell, as all messages were positives (no errors) and the phone restarted
But unfortunately both have the same result, the phone is stuck on the android spinning dots - no Qualcomm crash dump anymore - small blessings.
I can get into both recovery and fastboot, but I'm at a loss as to what to try next.
I thought the MSMDownload tool was the nuclear option and would work - but no.
Would anyone have any suggestions ?
Thank you!
Dan
Try to flash a stock rom with fastboot, you can find a stock one in the forum and will find a batch file that will flash all the partitions for you, good luck

Thank you Chinaroad,
I'm sorry for the stupid question, but I thought the MSMDownloader tool was a stock ROM installed through fastboot - this is all new to me - do I need to follow a different method ?
Thanks again
Dan
The msm is a tool that flashes the stock rom at another level than fastboot, and yes as you said it's the ultimate solution and it's strange that it doesnt work for you, so since you can access to fastboot, try to flash it that way without using msm

I'm trying the flash-all.bat method, but the guide I'm using (and the program output) tells me the bootloader must be unlocked - of course it isn't.
I've tried Tool All in one to unlock the bootloader - but I get the error message Failed (remote: 'Flashing unlock is not allowed')
What step am I missing...
Sorry, and thanks again
Dan
it says flashing unlock is not allowed cuz i think it needs to be activated in dev menu of the phone, but since you can't power it up ..... . So lets comeback to MSM, are you sure all the files are there and you get no output error?

I've weakened and gone for an RMA - in some vain hope that they'll offer a warranty repair :fingers-crossed:
I've followed the guides for MSM to the letter, and it gave only positive feedbacks - but then just wouldn't complete the boot.
From reading these forums - anyone at the stage / with the symptoms I found myself with seems to have been resolved with an RMA
I guess if I'm an idiot and it was software, then the charge won't be huge, I'll suck it up - if I'm not and the issue was hardware then I'll make a descision when I know.
Thanks for your time, and I'll be sure to feedback !

One plus honoured my (technically expired) warranty and replaced the main board.
Great news, if a little late, I did already buy a OnePlus 7 Pro...

Hello,
I did a factory reset of OnePlus 8, and I also wiped the system partition. Now the only thing left on my phone is TWRP. I'd like to flash OxygenOS, so I downloaded a signed flashable zip on this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-8/how-to/oneplus-8-repo-oxygen-os-builds-t4084233
But when I flash it with TWRP, it says (in blue)
"flashing A/B zip to inactive slot : A"
Step 1/2
and it's been like this for quite some time now. I wonder if I've done something wrong ? Or should I wait ?
Thanks !

It should take since time but I would say no more than ten to fifteen minutes to complete. Unfortunately I don't want you to stop the process now that it's started that could definitely render it inoperable.
If it does come out of it with an error then just try again but be careful and make sure your can MSM your phone to previous version. I did my TMO to Global flash through zip file with the run all bat. That was pretty damn easy. Happy modding!

Thanks for your reply.
I left it for more than an hour and it was still on step 1/2. So I stopped the process by rebooting with ADB. When I did that it wiped my /sdcard. I tried to flash OOS again but same result ... I've never heard of MSM before. I just googled it and I see that's it's an unbrick tool only available for Windows but I'm using a Mac. I can still use my brother's laptop which runs Windows 10 but I'd like to know if there's any alternative before doing that.
I really just want to get OOS back Not crossflashing or downgrading
Thanks !

I had problems with EDL-mode too. Try the EDL-mode by just pressing the volume up button and use the phones own cable.

Hi all,
My Oneplus 7 version is GM1900 and is 1 year old. And after a month of using it, I was tempted to root my device and make an experiment (for which I lost track on the tools, process, ROMs where I rooted my phone). It was a success and had fun using it. Until recently, I decided to unroot back my device. So I tried to do my research and did DIYs but ended up making my phone bricked.
I am a novice at this field and below are the things (maybe important to bring back my dead phone) I did before I bricked my phone.
- As far as I remember, my phone is on build 10.0.9xxxxx
- Downloaded and used 10.0.8-GLOBALOnePlus7Oxygen_14.P.29_OTA_029_all_2009152124...... from sourceforge coming from this thread here
- Flashed the device (after flashing the phone was keep on rebooting so I thought the stupidest thing after)
- Run fastboot and oem lock the device (knowing that every steps I did was right but very stupid all along, and YES, I confirmed to lock the device when notified on the phone)
- And the nightmare begins on my device Status: Keeps on rebooting on Android logo (turn on - > android logo - > turn off - > turn on - > android logo ...)
- Tried rebooting to fastboot but to no avail (it says Device State - Locked)

Hi good people at XDA. This is my first post on this website and I am absolutely hoping to receive help from you all to find a way out of the depressing and extremely anxious situation I'm in.
I was using my OP6 normally today and while I was typing something on Telegram the phone suddenly froze and after I re-booted it, it took me to the Qualcomm Crashdump screen.
My OP6 isn't tampered in any way (no bootloader unlocked, no TWRP recovery installed, nothing rooted).
At the moment, I can enter the fastboot mode while pressing volume up and power button.
The crucial thing is the data which I MUST RETRIEVE, can't afford to lose it.
Could y'all please suggest a way where the data can be retrieved or the phone can be revived without data loss?
I did read the forums on MSMDownload Tool but I believe it wipes off the phone, right?
PLEASE HELP!
If ADB ( read: USB Debugging ) got enabled on phone - what is the door to Android OS - then try this to pull out user-data stored on phone
Code:
adb devices
mkdir "C:\RECOVERED_DATA"
adb pull /sdcard C:\RECOVERED_DATA

Thanks @jwoegerbauer for the prompt response. I can surely try that. Considering that I'm fairly a noob, could you please share in a bit detail, the steps I need to take before executing those commands?
Also, since there's a tiny chance that USB Debugging may not have been enabled, what's the alternative that I consider?
Thanks!
Since I must retrieve the data in internal SD, can this help me enter the OS?:
1. Extracting the boot.img of the latest version that's currency installed on my OP6, from payload.bin
2. Testing if this boot.img can revive me into the OS by fastboot boot boot.img.
Also, one pressing doubt: does a fastboot flash boot boot.img command erase internal SD contents??
Please help!

No man. Still looking for some solutions. Read umpteen threads only to see that MSMDownload Tool erases data because it first unlocks bootloader (which mandatorily wipes data), flashes system files and then relocks it.
But I'm pretty sure, there exists some way out to flash a OP 6 with locked bootloader but retaining userdata partition intact.
Hoping to receive some solution here from this community of Android geeks.

Bro can i have your number please i m stuck with the same problem since last year but not got the solution to boot up my phone normally its always showing crash dump mode. I tried everything but nothing worked for me.
like many even i too ugraged my op6 to oo11.1.1.1, rooted was running well for a week till i encountred face crash dump mode error
Stupid thing i did was instead of flashing fastboot oos 10.3.8 i tried to flash msm 10.3.8 which didnt solve crash dum and also locked my BL.
now nonof the msm could solve crash dump nor we can unlock BL bz we cant toggle OEM in Dev option,
i discussed with @L0ND0NB0Y regarding this, his suggestion would be to take a backup of oos10.3.8 config partation of a working rom, then use edl to flash it on affected op6, by that way we can unlock bootloader and flash fastboot rom.
we need to fide a working op6 and back config which @L0ND0NB0Y can guide us. if it works he ll creat a post to solve crashbump and BL locked issue.
if this wont work, we may need to wait for msm oos11 file.
update : managed to solve crash dump by flashing msm international 5.1.5 but ended up getting black screen with white notification light, if my op6 had BL unlocked all i had to do is to boot stock/twrp recovery and factory wipe.
Hello all,

I know I made a big mistake, but can I do to revert this? I try to restart the phone but nothing, not via power button for 10 or 20 or 30 sec.

Mine bricked about a month ago and Google suggested uBreakiFix. They tried to do a force flash on it but it didn't work. They ended up replacing the motherboard which fixed it, but now my proximity sensor is always on. I don't know if they can fix that or if it will require another motherboard.

I have the same issue like p_a_r_s_a7 with my Pixel 5.
Only fastboot mode: can't find valid operating system
After flashing the 'right' OTA image for Android 12 DP3 the device cannot be restored anymore.
The image was successfully flashed by 'adb sideload' as recommended.
Seems that a locked bootloader is not 100% save from 'flashed to death'

I had this same issue on my 4a 5g and after many hours I managed to fix it. I don't recall exactly but I went through every option of flashing stock via fastboot and android flash tool it eventually worked this was 2 months ago

Android flash tool immediately detect the locked bootloader and stopped without flashing.
I've tried to check/uncheck every option but no luck. I've used Windows 10.
Did you used the common USB driver requested by Android flash tool ?
Anything else that could be special, eg Linux environment ( what distro, version .. )
Any detail could help..

Good morning all, I tried relocking my bootloader using the command "fastboot oem asus-csc lk" and at first, it seemed to be a success. However I restarted my device and was met with this error message. "Your device is corrupt. It can't be trusted and will not boot." I've tried searching high and low and it seems that I'm royally screwed, just wanted to confirm that I was though. Thanks for reading my post and any input is appreciated.

Thanks for your help so far but I'm having issues putting the phone into edl mode. I'm trying to follow what was suggested in the tutorial but it isn't working. I also tried the fastboot command that was done in the video and to no avail. Google isn't giving much either. Am I missing something?

Thanks for your help so far but I'm having issues putting the phone into edl mode. I'm trying to follow what was suggested in the tutorial but it isn't working. I also tried the fastboot command that was done in the video and to no avail. Google isn't giving much either. Am I missing something?

That's likely because the bootloader is locked. It was possible that EDL mode could still allow a full restore, but also quite possible it wasn't going to work because of that.

You may still want to contact Asus and tell them you don't know what happened. They may be able to restore it. I wouldn't tell them you unlocked the bootloader, since it's locked if they ask.
As long as bootloader mode works, You can flash a RAW file to boot the phone back.
Ensure the phone has enough battery power left for a 20 min+ flash,
USB Cable to be connected on the side port, (not bottom charging port - fastboot doesn't work there)
and to use the exact raw firmware file which matches the device model and variant.

Hopefully this time is different, but every report so far has been that it fails. I believe we still need the firehose to use any programs that override the bootloader security on fastboot.

Can confirm it one hundred percent works. Mine was the American variant purchased directly from Asus' website. I don't think that had anything to do with it but my phone is up and running with a locked bootloader now. I really appreciate the help fellas

Glad to hear it. Apparently, the issue was people not following instructions...
