[APP] Netflix HD for Widevine L1 device - Android Apps and Games

Hi everyone,
I tried to install the apk from @aiemassfiria in his original thread (https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/netflix-hd-ultrahd-ultrahd-dolby-5-1-l1-t3535349) but it doesn't work on my Mi projector. So I modded the apk myself (this only apply for Widevine L1 device
Changes log:
- v0.3: Enable HDR
https://github.com/longseespace/netflix_patch/releases/tag/v0.3
- v0.2: Patch new version (netflix v4.16.3 - HD)
https://github.com/longseespace/netflix_patch/releases/tag/v0.2
If you want to patch yourself, here is the guide:
https://github.com/longseespace/netflix_patch
Make sure you have `patch` installed (built-in in macOS, Linux. Not sure about Windows)
Basically, find and replace all isDeviceHd(), isWidevineL1Enabled() etc. to true.
Hope it would work for you

Works great! HD with 5.1 surround working great on my Note 8 N950F

Yes

So I have Oneplus 7 Pro btw. I just tried it real fast but couldn't play any videos though.
The UI was like all white with white text in some screens too.
I'm gonna try it again later.

Try the originals from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=70480977

unfortunately neither of them work on my Huawei Mediapad M5 Pro, rooted & unlocked bootloader.
There was a ROM once that kept Widevine L1 and Netflix HD (Omnirom or Resurrection Remix from OpenKirin.net), netflix came preinstalled
any hints on how to get it back?
would patch myself, but the instructions are a little bit obscure when it comes to the scripts (+ I do not understand exactly, what the script does)
(My phone also is the OP7Pro, but that's not rooted yet, as I want to keep netflix HD )

Just set everything up:
I cannot run the patch -pß -i ./netflix.patch
as windows says the command cannot be found?
edit: forgot: I am on Win10 ...

I've updated the repo for modding newer version (Netflix 4.16.3 - still unable to mod Netflix 5+)

thanks man, your latest apk worked in 720p maybe.
It only showed HD logo on the altered carbon series.
download file was around 203 mb, my friends untouched s9 got 283mb download.
but at last your version worked.
this build is 4.12 and shows 5.1 audio and ultra HD, but again downloads are 480p, i tested it - https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/how-to/guide-to-netflix-hd-hd-dolby-5-1-t3951698
lookng forward you can fix and get 1080p streaming and downloading.
device - S9+ with devbase rom, august patch. (Magisk Rooted)

Hello,
Thx for the app but can we log into the acount or not ?
Thx for the reply
Hi,
We cannot log into google account if the Google Play Services are not installed on the device.
I just wanted to say that it doesn't work with play services. I'm not sure if that is intentional or a bug
Sent from my LG-D415 using XDA Forums
No download section? which you can download the videos damn
thank you, it is very good.
I installed this on my car head unit, which has no google services, the normal youtube app wont work,
this one works , but the quality option only allow me to choose up to 360p, is there anyway to set it higher? the car unit capable play up to 1080p videos thru mx player
I've checked settings, the HD is enabled for both wifi and 3G, but still no HD options
a HD force enable version would be great, is it possible to make?
the car head unit android version is 4.1.1 by the way, I read somewhere that youtube app only allow higher quality option on version 4.4.2 or later, I wouldn't want to root and mod build.prop, it will be troublesome to fix the unit if something went wrong and bricked
Great app! Are you planning on doing updates?
I can't install it pls help

YouTube Kids app icon missing in launcher

as im not in one of those YT Kids app supported regions, i installed the app with APK (from apkmirror.com) and enjoyed it for over a year already.. however, today suddenly i realised that the app icon disappeared in my launcher drawer.. it was there a few hours ago and in between the period i didnt reboot the phone, didnt install or update any app, didnt touch any files in my phone..
i checked "/data/app" directory, and there was the "com.google.android.apps.youtube.kids-1" directory with all files intact.. i tried to re-install the apk and it went without any problem.. and there was a new "/data/app/com.google.android.apps.youtube.kids-2" directory created with all files same as the previous installation.. but the app icon just did not appear in the drawer..
i tried to switch to the stock launcher, and the app icon was still missing..
now im out of ideas for what could go wrong.. any suggestion for me?
tia..
Same thing happend to me (Samsung Galaxy Tab A, Stock 7.0), nu luck with previous versions of Youtube Kids either..
Same here. Galaxy S8. What has happened? Maybe recent Google instant app has something to do with it ?
Hi, same issue here on a Lenovo tablet and Galaxy S7, both running android 7.x. App appears to be gone from the app list and only by installing an app uninstaller i am able to remove it. Same problem when trying to install older versions of the YT Kids. I can install but i can't run it or see it in the app list.
On an older device runing kitkat the icon is still there with no problems, so i would guess this may be a new feature on the google services or so. They may now be enforcing regional limitations. Any info on that?
Unfortunately same thing here. Samsung tab A 2016 !
Same hete, but went here https://kids.youtube.com
Clicked to get it then app store opened he app and was able to enable it

it still redirects to play store, and thus app availability is still subject to regions..
I can only confirm the problem ( Galaxy A5 2017 running Nougat)
Seems like a server side or Nougat upgrade issue.
I have exactly same symptoms. app icon is missing, side-loaded app installs but does not register properly so it does not appear in app list, and can be uninstalled only with third party app (e.g. ES File explorer)
Hope there will be a solution to run YT Kids once again in regions where it's not officially supported.
Hopefully someone can make a modded apk version without a region check.

i dont think the check is done in the app itself, probably its done in the framework..
cos i have not updated the app, and suddenly it went from working to disappearance, so i guess something in the underlying google framework changed..
Okay, so maybe someone knows a simular app. I didn't found one yet, after ours of searching and installing
---------- Post added at 08:45 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:30 AM ----------
I installed a lot of different versions of yt kids and sometimes he wil open after installation and after a few second he stopps working. But the icon never apears from two weeks ago. The disapearing happend on the same day by my phone, from my wifes phone and my mother in laws phone?
Yeah, sad Google starts to execute regional restrictions more strictly. :crying:
The latest version 2.28.14 have new logo but won't run although it installs almost fine except no icon.
Therefore you should use 3rd party app to uninstall defunct app (e.g. ES File Explorer).
It seems it's gone for good. Check thread below:

Netflix L1 support by Pixel 4XL props

Everyone knows our Poco doesn't support L1 by default with Netflix. Few shared tweaks or modified Netflix HD version etc which all never worked for me. Somehow I got this Pixel 4 XL props which actually changes our device props to Pixel and voila. Netflix is working in full hd and HDR support. You need to flash this via Magisk.
Credit to Pixelprops for sharing it on Telegram.
Only drawback, the colors are saturated on Google chrome browser which doesn't bother me as I use Firefox.
This has been tested on Havoc 3.2 latest rom with stock kernel. I've attached screenshot from the Netflix app showing it's full HD support and HDR. You need to be on L1 for this to work. You can check what widevine support your phone shows by installing drminfo app from Playstore. If it's showing L1, you can proceed with the installation. If it shows L3, you need to flash MIUI first, boot into that rom and than flash any custom rom.
Please be aware this might not work on all roms and in some roms this can cause bootloops, I'm not responsible for your phone. Do backup before flashing this via Magisk.
Edit: uploaded August Pixel 4 XL props. Test and report back if it works. Thanks.

Edit : IT doesn't work because pixel 4 rom doesn't have orignal poco f1 widevine L1 props

yeah I just wish we didn't have to deal with this Netflix fiasco with poco, but it's already too late. I talked to Netflix support for hours to no end. their customer support goes silent Over the mere mention of Widevine certification and would rather have you troubleshoot network and other meaningless stuff.

Did you need to fix the fingerprint by changing the props for the brand Xiaomi and then choosing for Pocophone F1, or do you need to change and impose the props of the Google brand and after that choose for the Pixel 4 model?
You see I am still confused on how to get HD in Netflix....
By flashing the zip in TWRP over the newwest ROM,, I was able to turn Poco f1 in Pixel 4, but for me it was not enough to get HD in Netflix. So what else do I need to do to get HD?

First check by drminfo app if it's L3 or L1. If L1 than proceed to uninstall Netflix, flash the zip via Magisk ( Not twrp) and reboot. Reinstall Netflix, hide it via Magisk manager and than login. It should be full HD now.
If DRM info shows L3 you need to flash MIUI boot into MIUI and than flash back the custom rom you use.

Please see the printscreen, which shows that my pocophone is not certified by the Google Playstore
Open the playstore app.
under Settings, you scroll all the way down. At the section About you see in the last item called Play Protect Certification.
It says:
Device is not certified.
Is this the case for my pocophone F1 only, or for all poco F1 users?
Is it important for the HD Netflix certification, and if so, how can I fix this?

Please see the printscreen, which shows that my pocophone is not certified by the Google Playstore
Open the playstore app.
under Settings, you scroll all the way down. At the section About you see in the last item called Play Protect Certification.
It says:
Device is not certified.
Is this the case for my pocophone F1 only, or for all poco F1 users?

this started showing ever since Ctsprofile began to fail on almost all custom roms. it also failed on miui global latest 11.6.0 update and playstore was showing unsupported device. however, it doesn't effect hdr status inside Netflix as far as I know. if you can get your rom setting to show that it's some device other than poco (like pixel 4) then you should have hdr support regardless of playstore status.
just flash the module, reboot, clear your app data and cache and you should be good to go. in fact, that's exactly how I was able to run Netflix hd on miui latest global though as already mentioned it breaks miui camera app and you have to disable and reboot device to be able to use camera again or just use any custom gcam.
good luck!

I tried installing that module and followed instructions on how to get emulation working by copying paste active/disable file but never got it to work. could you please write clear instructions on how you got it working for you? also what ROM are you running? thanks for your time.

Cts failing on all roms cause Google changed something from their end. Magisk needs to be updated for that which will happen shortly once the dev able to figure out what changes Google did. It doesn't effect Netflix as of now. It's still working in hd for me. My rom was certified and automatically it's changed to not certified few days ago. Found out about this when many users reported that even it's not certified in MIUI too.

Uninstall isn't necessary. you can get the same results simply by deleting app data and cache

So I can finally watch Netflix in HD.
At first your instructions did not work for me.
At some point I just decided to start from scratch. So I formatted and completly reinstalled the last ROM. Then I followed your instructions and... boom!
Thanks so much for your instructions:

The setback is it breaks miui camera app and you have to disable and reboot device to be able to use camera again or just use any custom gcam.
Send from my Pocophone F1, with an altered fingerprint (of Pixel 4 XL), so I can finally watch Netflix in HD
