I'm on OOS 9.5.8 with Magisk and TWRP, I used Oxygen Updater to update to 9.5.8 and reflashed TWRP and Magisk right after. I had no modules installed.
I tried installing a module recently (YouTube Vanced) and my phone told me it could not find a SIM after reboot. This persisted through reboots until I finally uninstalled the module and rebooted, in which normal data function resumed. This happens with every module I install. Anyone have a solution or similar problem on their OnePlus?
flash the full rom in system update and try again.
Hmm. That's odd. I had the same problem with flashing a few kernels, but when I rebooted it went away.
It seems like cache wipe fixes this. Apparently, this cache wipe is required after each module installation in order to avoid this issue. Also, if you have this problem with Magisk installed in general (IE no modules installed and lose SIM after vanilla Magisk installation) make sure you have latest TWRP installed to both A/B slots prior to Magisk installation.

I had rooted my phone on OOS 9.5.8, installed TWRP and magisk, i updated to 9.5.10 without issues, tried installing TWRP again as well as magisk, and my phone went on a bootloop, after several hours of trying to fix it, i decided to use my twrp backup thinking that would fix the issue, i restore everything and my phone is still bootlooping, any ideas how to fix it?
did u remove your magisk modules?
Maybe the backup was from slot A and OTA in slot B and something got messed up. In another note there's no need to clean install OTAs from Oneplus, and then having to restore old data is where complications come

I had this problem, minus the TWRP. I had to reset to factory default to fix it. Goto bootloader and reset system settings. You'll end up back on 9.5.10 stock but you should be able to boot. Pain in the ass but it stopped my loops. I didn't have a x.x.10 backup so I had to start fresh.
Try to remove Magisk using Magisk unninstaller and reinstall 9.5.10 on TWRP without rebooting.
After, install TWRP installer again and THEN reboot.
After you check all is working, install Magisk again in TWRP and then install your Magisk modules again.
I flashed OxygenOS 10.0.1 by the fastboot method. Then flashed modded TWRP and then Magisk. This all happened successfully. I wanted to install Youtube Vanced but stock Youtube was causing it to not show up. So I tried uninstalling Youtube through Titanium Backup but it said 'apk not found'. So I downloaded some other app (I think it was named 'System App Remover'). Since then I have been getting bootloops. Phone gets stuck on 'Bootloader unlocked warning' screen then goes into Fastboot mode. I had to uninstall Magisk through TWRP to boot the phone. I don't understand what's wrong in this entire process. Please help.
I think the issue is with the System App Remover. I tried using possibly the same exact app previously but I also got boot loops. I would try a factory reset, reflash twrp and magisk and try the Magisk module "Debloater".
You have to clean temporary magisk files.
Probaby you had enabled some magisk modules on previous system and you forget disable them.
Thanks for the replies. I fixed the problem by restoring System from an earlier TWRP backup.
Usually bootloops from Magisk modules can be fixed by deleting problematic module from twrp file explore /data/adb/modules
Don't have to fart around with uninstalling entire Magisk or installing Magisk debloater anymore
I've just updated my Oxygen OS to 10.0.2 by flashing the OTA via TWRP.
I was following the guide found here https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/...10-0-1-update-keep-twrp-magisk-guide.1118577/
However, after flashing Magisk I get stuck in endless loading on the Oneplus boot screen. It seems like I can get out of it by switch boot slots, either A or B depending on which slot I was on when I flashed the OTA.
The end result when I get back into the system is always no root, I've either had no Magisk manager installed, or if I do have a Magisk Manager, Magisk is not installed and I cant seem to flash it via the manager.
I am at a total loss, this whole Slot A nd B thing confuses me and I've got no idea what I'm doing wrong... Should the OTA be on slot A and Magisk on B, or is it both?
Hoping someone can guide me in the right direction, wish I never updated at this point.
I do the updates through regular OTA and magisk so no clue if it relates but the only time it bootlooped for me was when i had my magisk modules still enabled before updating. There are a few that cause issues there.
There are plenty of guides here as well that should cover these kinds of issues
Pretty sure that updates go to the slot that is inactive at the time if installing the update
I screwed something up updating to 10.0.2 as well. I've messed it up a couple times so I can't remember if I fixed it or just started from scratch with the msm tool.
I would go to twrp and make sure you are on the same slot that boots.
Flash magisk and reboot. Now hopefully it boots with root.
Download the full update and install it via local update, don't reboot. Go to magisk and install on other slot (after ota).
Or backup everything you can and start from scratch.
Thanks all, I got it to work by simply flashing the Factory image and restarting from Scratch.
In doing so I think I was able to re-create my issue, after re-rooting and installing my apps... It seems like my Magisk module Pix3lify was not playing nicely, and once removed the endless rotating circles went away and the system booted normally and with root.
As I had this module installed while trying to upgrade, I suspect that this was always the root cause.
The lesson here is to disable or remove your Magisk modules while you're updating!
Hello everyone,
I recently installed Magisk and TWRP and at first everything was working completely fine, than I installed the f-droid privileged extension module the device started bootlooping.
I managed to fix the issue through TWRP (Fix bootloop option) and completely uninstalled Magisk through the official uninstaller. Thing is every time I'm trying to reinstall Magisk the problem returns.
Please help.
Happened to me to....you need to uninstall that exact module from your system....
You can uninstall any modules even from TWRP...
go to file explorer on TWRP
Open data then adb an then modules and delete unnecessary folder otf module...

This is strange normally when you flash magisk uninstaller every module will be uninstalled, it's used to do a clean flash of magisk, infact when you reinstall magisk no module will be there and you need to reinstall everything

Indeed. How should I proceed then? Could the "Fix bootloop option" in TWRP caused the issue?

Let me think
Try this:
1) flash latest magisk uninstaller
2) reboot to system and make sure it's starting and working (no bootloop and/or no other problems)
3) Reboot to TWRP and flash magisk, don't let TWRP doing anything else
4) reboot to system, it must be works
Alternative is:
1) flash latest magisk uninstaller
2) reboot to system and make sure it's starting and working (no bootloop and/or no other problems)
3) reboot to TWRP, dirty flash latest oos (10.3.1), then TWRP, reboot to TWRP
4) same as point 3
5) once you've reboot to TWRP at least one time after flashing oos, flash latest magisk
6) reboot to system
Only question is: which magisk version are you using?
EDIT: If "Fix bootloop option" is a flashable TWRP file, then follow directly the alternative way
I have just tried the first method and unfortunately it did not work. The device keeps booting into fastboot instead of system. I will try the second method tomorrow and report here. Just to make sure I have it right, dirty flash is flashing the ROM without wiping the data first?
Magisk version is latest stable v20.3

Thanks! The second solution did the trick. I'm pretty sure TWRP "Fix bootloop option" somehow caused the issue.

Great! :good:
Because once you flash "Fix bootloop option" it will stay in system partition and the only way to remove is to reflash system through oos zip
hahaha i think magisk rooting method fail from safetynet check and module install. After a bootloader from specific module (disablerliboemencrypto) i restore my stuff to try another module (Bluetooth ..) a bootloop again happen
sorry but,GOOGLE beats YOU @topjohnwu.
Hi all,
Yesterday I was messing around with V4A and following the final installation steps my phone got stuck in fastboot. To fix it I did the following:
1. I extracted the stock boot.img from my current OS version (10.3.12) and flashed it to boot_a and boot_b using fastboot. This restored the phone's ability to boot.
2. I booted the phone and went into the Magisk app to disable/unhide as much as possible and uninstalled the V4A app.
3. Rebooted into fastboot and booted into TWRP to remove Magisk, V4A and Vanced stuff from data/adb with the file manager.
4. Booted and flashed various combinations of TWRP versions (Mauronofrio, Bluspark) and Magisk (from 19.4 to 23.0). TWRP flashes fine and allows system to boot, but as soon as Magisk is flashed and a reboot is tried into system, it gets stuck on bootloader again and I have to repeat step 1.
(5. Tried patching stock boot.img file with the Magisk app. Same results as step 4.)
Does anyone here know what might be wrong? Is there another method I can try to regain Magisk without losing data?
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: really at a loss here. Idk why but as soon as magisk is flashed, the system refuses to boot. Without flashing magisk, system boots fine – am typing from it now. I figured at first that it had to do with remnants of AML, V4A and other Magisk modules not being properly removed, but I've removed those through TWRP file manager.
Really hoping one of you can point out something I've missed or think of something else I can try.
EDIT: solved! See update below.
UPDATE: solved it by forcing a local upgrade of the full OTA through phone settings (same version as mentioned above), causing it to switch slots. On the other slot, the system managed to boot after flashing TWRP and Magisk (latest versions).
