Great day ahead my friends.
I am a new Samsung Galaxy S10+ user. I didn't like to press power key everytime to lock the screen. I prefer Screen Lock either widget or app.
I found some apps in the Google play store ,some of them are not compatible with Android Pie. Those working are little bit uncomfortable for me. Once I locked the screen with those app, I can't use either Face ID or fingerprint to unlock the screen. Only PIN works after that. I was unhappy with that.
I loved this inbuilt widget from Honor 8x.
I hope you guys can help me out.
Thank you very much friends
If you use the Samsung Launcher you can double-tap on the screen to turn off the screen. Can one adjust in the settings. Under Home I believe.

Well I don't know if you have problems with power button being so high but for me it was so I mapped Bixby button to execute "screen off" command to Bixby! only problem (not for me since I'm always with 4g or wifi) is that you need net to work.

You can do that to turn it on, but not off.

Yeah, thanks for sharing that possible way to.
But, as you mentioned, it's not a perfect way
Try One hand operation + from Samsung. You can setup swipe from edges with different directions to turn screen off
you can go with softkey edge from samsung store and you have a lock screen button or go for nicelock https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-9/themes/nicelock-module-download-links-module-t3923844/

Amazing
It was a great help
Using the Samsung GoodLock app I just added it and a notification drop-down button as well. In GoodLock, it's called NavStar.

I just installed ota of Android M and used to have a Tasker job run when dragging up the home button. This would allow me to lock the screen as if I hit the power button. Was a good way to eliminate a button press. Is there anyway to get similar functionality?

Yeah it's gone for me too. Found a bunch of subreddits, and everyone says theirs is gone too.
But Nova Launcher has a gestures feature, you can assign swipe up to anything you want, but it only works on the home screen.
The lock screen is so annoyingly inconsistent for me and I don't know if it's settings or a design flaw. I have fingerprint unlock set up. Sometimes when I press the unlock button or home button, I can put my finger on the home button and have it unlock the phone. Other times, I put my finger on the home button and it highlights the lock icon and I have to swipe it before anything happens. Other times, it just unlocks when I swipe the screen. I also don't understand how to go directly to a notifications app from the lock screen. Sometimes I click on it, have to swipe, and then fingerprint and it it's random as to weather or not it will actually open the app.
How do I need to set it so that when I wake the phone, I can consistently unlock it with my fingerprint?
Tnanks.
I have the same exact issue.

On my phone I found that fingerprint recognition was improved by adding additional "fingerprints" of my thumb and forefinger. I very seldom get a rejected reading now. Good luck and YMMV!
That's a good idea about adding extra fingers! Sadly, you can only have 5 total and I already have 4 (both thumbs and both pointer fingers).
Guess I can "double up" on one I use the most.

That's weird. I'm only allowed to have 4.

I doubled up on my right thumb. I think it helped.

Do you have smart lock on?
Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
I am using Smart Lock with a pin and I am having similar issues with the lock screen. My home is the only trusted site and works well, I only have to swipe to unlock. However at work I have to use a pin sometimes and just swipe other times. I can figure that one out.

When training fingerprint keep pressing with different parts of that finger for accuracy, works flawlessly 100% for me

Hi Guys,
anyone knows if one can take a screenshot from Gear S3, and in case of a positive answer, how to do it?!
Thanks in advance!
There's a hidden features clip on YouTube, it's in there.

Before the screenshots show up on your phone you have to view the screenshot on your watch using the Gallery app.
Once the desired screenshot is full screen, click on the three dots to the right and choose "Send to phone"
Once it copies to your phone you can view the screenshots on your phone where they should be in a folder called "Gear"
On my Galaxy S7 it appeared in internal storage>pictures>gear
Can i get help with this also please? My Gear S3 Frontier (UK) swipe left to right (with home button selected) does not perform a screen shot. A single press brings up my applications menu, double tap brings up the function i selected in options (find my phone in my case) i hold the bottom right (home) button long enough to swipe left to right for a screenshot and it brings up 'Gear Options' every time giving me only 2 options, power off and touch sensitivity (9 times out of 10 meaning the power off is selected). Is it possible another setting has been changed for this function not to work?
how eliminate three white dots
Anyone know how to perform a screenshot that does NOT include the three vertical white dots on the right hand side of the pictures in Gallery?
Found test mode on the S3, didn't see it posted.
Go to the icons, go to phone
select keypad
Enter *#0*#
Wait a few seconds and it goes into test mode.
Just hold the home button a few seconds for it to reboot.
DON'T ask how I found it.
You mean you can now use Codes like this?
Code:
*#6472#
Best Regards
I just stumbled across it in this
Capture by Rusty Harris, on Flickr
share, please
Double click on the upper button means "back" and also leaves test mode without reboot

is there any chance of getting a gesture system sort of like Samsung where you can swipe up at an angle and swipe down at an angle and swipe across and you can apply what an action, either navigation or launching apps?
And then also can you implement the hold function as well where you swipe out and hold it to launch another shortcut? That would apply to the right edge, left edge and bottom edge of the phone.
This would help with bulky cases interference with swipe gesture navigation.
You can swipe from so many directions on one edge of phone.
Possible?
Isn't there an app that does this without root?
Advanced Swipe Gesture or something like that...
Try "Edge gestures" from play store
