I just recently installed the T-Mobile/Verizon Hybrid ROM on my S7 and there are only two things I don't like about Nougat.
The white notification shade
And the fact that the toggles are six-wide when you first pull down the notification shade. Since the bigger layout only allows for 3, 4, or 5 wide...it means it's impossible for the far right toggle to be in the same place when you view your toggles in their two display modes. Very annoying if you want your flashlight to be the far right toggle!
Is there a way to force that initial group of toggles to be 5 wide instead of 6?
Newb here, it's always white and ugly. How to do it no root?
You need to root then install Xposed then in Xposed search BlackNavigationBar
Download the app called Navbar apps

I strongly recommend removing the navigation bar all together and enable gestures, at least try it. I liked it so much I cant go back to nav bars again

Gestures are trash. Tried for a week
Meizu did it best years ago.
Navbar apps is CLOSE to working (not great) and I do NOT want to root. All that does is lead to problems. We need OP to add system level control over navbar color, that would be awesome (if possible)
I use navbar while trying also to get used to gestures.
It does not need root, BTW. And it has some nice customisations. But sometimes, it gets forgotten, and the customisations don't apply (Which often resolves after a few moments but it just means it's not perfect).
There is also a module that can detect when keyboard is open, so you can choose a keyboard appropriate colour, rather than in apps like Facebook having bright white navbar against my material dark themed keyboard.
Gestures could be quite nice, but I need more control of them. For example, I find the home gesture and back gestures get mixed up sometimes. I would rather have one side of the phone dedicated to home (right side, until about 25% from the edge) and the rest to act as back.
Also, I still have some apps that use menu button, which, with buttons, can be mapped to long press recent tasks, but has no equivalent gesture. It could have a similar gesture to how you get to recent apps, but from the back button side. It would keep the gesture logic and adds a function that works in certain contexts.
Until gestures have the controls I need, I will continue using navbar. Coming from an Honor phone, it's really great that it works, even if it sometimes forgets to activate. (Huawei's os has this magical way to overwrite any customisations that the user might like).
Sent from my OnePlus 6 using XDA Labs
Also the hide the nav bar option gives you transparent nav bar.

correct. I don't understand why OnePlus didn't do it like that instead.
f you have Xposed Systemless and Magisk installed (requires root and an unlocked bootloader obviously, also assuming this is for the Oneplus 5, 5T, or 6) install the Xposed Module "BlackNavigation Bar for Oneplus 5T, Oneplus 6" by yuanwofei. Works great and makes it black instead.
I would like to make the back gestures area shorter, I have to reach to nearly the top of my phone to open side menus on many apps and it gets annoying.

Easiest way is to pick 3 button navigation and download and install vivid gestures. Full customization of gestures.

Those aren't nearly as fluid as the stock gestures
I am using Nova Launcher and I can't get rid of that black bar lol....

Sorry just realized the picture wasn't showing properly, I've update my post with picture
Have you tried switching to 2 or 3 button navigation and back to gesture navigation?

Okay so it looks like it's an issue with gestures, because when I use 2 or 3 button navigation, the problem goes away (although there is still a small black bar remaining). When I switch back to gestures the black bar comes back...
Hmmm...
Use XDA Navigation Gestures

Consider installing the excellent XDA Navigation Gestures package from the Play store. I continue to use the three-button navigation "pill" mode. The so-called "pill" replaces the triangle/circle/square navigation icons and the replacement can be made extremely thin, hugging the bottom edge of the screen, and they can fade to be nearly invisible. I recognize that new Android users might like gestures. But many long-time Android users appreciate having the choice to use the old techniques. I find the package reliable on my Pixel 3a and Samsung S9, with Nova Launcher.
Hi.. I was wondering if we have the same notch killer as one on android 10, working with Oneplus 8T.
I have already tested a few and none of them are working. I have tested:
Notch Killer
G Visual Mod
None Display cutout
The main reason to have this is most of the apps expand only till notch and statusbar space is wasted.
Surprisingly there are no apps shown in 'Apps to display in Fullscreen'.
Still looking for myself too. G-visual worked for my Oneplus 8 but soft bricked my 8T. Really eager to find how to force fullscreen as I'm now starting to see status bar icons burning in. Also when in landscape most apps leave a black bar to the left with that area starting to burn in too.
Oneplus and Google really need to sort their act out.
