Does anyone know how to get the stock HTC camera onto CM7?
I really like the stock camera. I really dislike the CM7 camera. I'm not especially thrilled with the 3rd party camera apps in the app store.
I've googled, searched etc but haven't been able to come up with anything...
You can find the .apk in the thread I made yesterday
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1022479
However, I attempted install on MIUI and it wouldn't let me. Perhaps it'll work with CM7, but... I doubt it, lol.
Sense based apps will only work on sense based roms.

Would it be possible to modify the htc camera apk to work under a different framework (in other words, not HTC's framework found on sense roms)?

With a total re-write, it is possible, but at that point, nobody wants to code a new framework to support a Sense application.
I wouldn't hold my breath.
such a bummer.
That being said, does anyone have any recommendations for a camera app?

Nice! Where is the original thread where Miui Camera originates?
I can't get the Miui camera to install. I put it in system/app but it didn't show up on my Apps list
Edit: I changed the apk's permissions to the permissions of other apks in that folder, robooted, and it worked. Solid camera app, better than the cm7 one for sure.

You can mount the system as rw in adb and push it to system/app.
You change the apk permissions by long pressing in root explorer and selecting permissions.

Hi Everyone!
Have you seen how the new Sony's Cameras capture Panorama Photos by moving the Camera all the way the scene you want to capture?
Well today a beta app developed by Sony can do that in our Mobile Phones...
I've found the app in the original thread for a X10 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116055 and i've corrected the script so we can also enjoy this beauty app...
DISCLAIMER!!!
Always do a back first in case it breaks anything and i'm not responsible if anything happens to your house, your town, your country or your dog... Use it at your own risk though it doesn't mean a major threat since the propetary files go to framework without breaking recovery or something else...
Instructions:
1.- Download and flash through CWM 3+ this script:
1.1 - Download Script
The script contains two SE Propietary files needed for the app to work.
2.- Download and install the attached app named:com.sonyericsson.panorama.apk
Install the app normally through any explorer like a side load.
3.- Enjoy!
Attached you may also find a few pictures taken it really works good on daylight!
UPDATE June 23rd!!!

Allow me a dumb question - what is cwm3+ and how to do this "flash through CWM 3+ this script". Or point me to a xda thread where it is already explained. Thanks.
Edit: Figured that out already, works fine with DHD, stock rom 2.2.
Edit 2: I was happy too early, I can launch the app, select a direction and begin panning, sometimes the app just quits with no save, or it lets me hit the stop button and it saves a file, but the file saved is with green stripes.

You should just need the app and widget, since it will have sense launcher, im not running a sense rom otherwise I would help. You could download a rom and extract the apk.

Download any Sense ROM that has those apps you want. Open with your favorite Zip program (7zip, winrar, or even root file explorer on your phone), navigate through the folders to the apk you want, copy/paste or just move it onto your storage card. Install app like any other sideloaded app.
The only possibly issue you might have would be with the libs, but the more experienced guys can help you resolve that, if it even becomes an issue.

Any real advantages to using this over the CM 4.2.2 camera? Considering some of the extra options with the CM camera versus a newer app.

IIRC this will have photosphere. Other than that not sure.
Could someone give me a quick process for getting this on my one x. I haven't done this in a while so I'm a little rusty.
Would the process be...
1. Move the current gallery.apk to a back-up location
2. Install the apk that's contained within the zip file
3. reboot
or
1. Back-up/delete the current gallery.apk
2. Reboot into TWRP/Recovery
3. Install the new gallery.apk from the zip file
4. Reboot into ROM
Any assistance would be extremely helpful. I have been running the latest PACMan ROM and I haven't had the need to do much flashing for a while so I am rusty on the process.

I was able to get the new camera to work on my one x.
One thing that I was curious about was the Photosphere functionality. I can confirm that if it didn't work for you with the 4.2.2 camera on the One X, it still doesn't work with this camera on certain One X models. I believe there are two different gyroscope manufacturers for our phone and Photosphere only works with one of them. Regardless of camera version, so far at least.
Other than that the camera seems to work fine so far. I haven't compared the quality, etc.
Edit screen FC's for me, but everything else seems to work. Thanx.

Must be flashed in recovery and you will still have your moto camera app.

Well, for anything other than Photosphere, I'm still more leaned to use Moto's camera app, you know? I like the slow motion vid, the layout... and I'm not even sure if I'm getting 10.5mpx with the stock Android camera app... which doesn't matter for Photospheres, but for everything else, I'd rather keep .
