Is this white strip the water damage indicator? If so it's still white and that means no water damage so I can exchange this phone by Thursday.....thanks

I suppose Im right that there are more water indicators inside the phone.. the one under my battery is white but it seems right underneath the backsides lower hole above the usb port,(inside the little horshoe lloking hole in the middle) it looks like a pc. of wdi, and its pink.. will this void a warranty if so even though the one under the battery is white. Is this even a water damage indicator im seeing.
thanks.
serious, anybody? bump
It's on the battery I believe. It's the pink cross hatch pattern. That's all I've seen searching the web so far.
Where are the water damage indicators on the Infuse?

This is just me taking a guess, but they're usually in the headphone jack. I could be way off though on the Infuse, haha.

Take the back cover off and you will see a small circular hole to the right of your SIM card. This should be white if it hasn't had any water damage. It will turn red if it does have water damage.
They have some internally too... the most obvious one is the white circle in the back of the phone above the battery. Talking about battery the batterys usually have the sticker too.

Hi,
recently I got my Nexus S washed during a big storm and it started malfunctioning.
There is a water damage indicator under the battery contacts that was white with red/pink crosses on it before the storm and now it got white.
My question is, is this the right behavior? I searched the forums and other sites and many users are reporting exactly opposite, that it was white before the water damage and after it it turned red. This would be also supported by iFixit's teardown of the Nexus S, which features an image of a disassembled Nexus S with a white water damage indicator:

So, does anybody know, how should the water damage indicators look like?
Thanks in advance,

That is odd... my indicator is white and my phone isn't even 3 months old
if it was water damaged ... those red crosses should have appeared after
my i9023 (Vodafone Australia) is white with crosses (no water damage)
odd...
neither of mine have an indicator
stuck there [NS4G]
there is a little white panel
beside the contacts ON THE BATTERY....
nothing visible on the phone in the battery compartment
the first one i got is my contract phone
new from sprint

I have disassembled it and found out that the inner indicator is white with crosses. I'm fairly confident the water didn't get to this inner indicator, which means non-damaged is white with crosses and damaged is white without crosses.
Anyway, as each indicator has a different image / pattern, it is obvious some water damage happened with the phone and the warranty is void.
By the way, the difference can be in our models, the i9023 could have different indicators than the i9020 or the NS4G.
If you could post the info about your indicators and the model you have, it would be certainly helpful.
My model is i9023 and the indicators are supposedly white with crosses before water damage and white without crosses after water damage.

my ns4g also has no sticker on the phone, but a plain white on right by the contacts on the stick battery.

So does the NS4G have a water damage indicator on the inside? Like would someone have to take the phone apart and remove the screws to see?
I recently dropped my Sola in water for less than 2 seconds. After being dropped in water it didn't turn off. How can I be sure that my phone isn't water damaged and where can I see the water damage indicator? Thanks.
There is usually a white sticker which turns purple on contact with water. This is mostly put in place for warranty reasons. It's usually in the battery compartment, or underneath the battery. Sometimes, it's inside the phone, and sometimes there is no such sticker.
The only way to really be sure your phone has no water damage is to take it apart. If there was substantial exposure to water, that's what you'd have to do anyway to get rid of the water, as it could take weeks to evaporate from inside the device.
EDIT: The sticker may turn red, or another color. Also, the sticker may have a pattern on it, which would smudge upon exposure to water. And sometimes, the sticker may be on the battery.
Where are they?
Over screw heads as a rule. This way they act as security stickers too. They are normally white, turning red on contract with water.
Mine has one on the bottom right screw. Any plain white sticker, or red and white check is likely to be a water check
