So I have set a default SIM per contact (depending on whether personal or work), and this is working fine from the Phone app.
However id I am hands free and OK Google, Call <blah> -- it pops up asking me for which SIM.
I don't want to select a default SIM for all calls, per contact is a great feature. Any idea how to get the assistant to use the dialler settings? Or is the assistant just prompting the dialler, but the dialler isn't working right?

I am assigned to work on this imported MTK6516 PCBA. It is Android 2.2 with built-in dual SIM. To make outgoing telephone cellular telephone calls, the OS start dialog for user to select SIM1 or SIM2. These are unlock GSM mobiles.
My assignment is to make Google Voice to work.
I am able to install and receive incoming telephone calls.
However, I am unable to make outgoing Google Voice telephone calls.
The OS do not allow user the dialog of selecting Google Voice all or Cellular calls?
How do I make the fix to the OS to allow user to select Google Voice or Cellular calls?
Actually, in one of our old Samsung Galaxy Android 2.1 test units, there are additional selection dialog, such as asking user to select outgoing call by Skype, Google Voice, etc.
Thank you.
Is googlevoice installed? Search on the market. Then you can just click the app and dial when signed in

Yes, Google Voice is installed.
Yes, able to log onto Google account.
Able to sync google gmail contact into Android phone contact.
Unable to dial out to make Google Voice calls.
No dialog panel allow user to select :
"Complete Action using:
Dialer"
Call with Google Voice
Call without Google Voice"
When I click the "Phone" - all this phone is allow user to select dial using
SIM1
SIM2
No selection of Dialer between SIM or Google Voice.
Go into settings applications and click on dialer or phone (however the app is displayed on your device) and then clear defaults?

I am unable to make Google Voice out going telephone calls.
This Android OS was modified to make dual SIM operate & SIM standby mode.
Is there any where I can seek advice & help in the "dialer" inside the Android OS?
Thank you.
So I've been using Google voice as my main number. This allows me to switch SIM cards and keep my number, which is useful since I travel back and forth a lot. I can always just dial a number and it calls (Intl or not) and when I'm outside the US I can be contacted at my regular number. All I have to do is install the Google Voice app to route calls and use Hangouts for SMS (or calls if using Chrome on a desktop).
That said, I think I found a problem with Google Now integration. Calls are not a problem: "OK Google call John" works fine, it dials John's number via Google Voice. Texting however defaults to sending via the SIMs number, even if I select "always reply via Google Voice" in the Hangouts app. Since I don't ever really use the SIMs number, this has resulted in quite a few people texting me back "who is this?" after I text them using Google Now.
I know a solution is to just not use Google Now to text, but it's quite useful with a handsfree while driving and such.
T-Mobile is Unlimited and Verizon is 5 gb a month pre paid
So when I make a call using google voice it will only dial out of the sim that I set as primary.
I set T-Mobile as primary because its unlimited data.
If anyone has a option on choosing the sim you want as you are making the call let me know. Maybe a different phone dialer that lets me choose if anyone know of any.
Previous oneplus 8T I was able to set a specific sim just for Mobile data and choose what ever sim as the call is made.
For the moment I just linked both sim phone numbers to my google voice so incoming call are coming in through Verizon but outgoing calls are through T-Mobile.
Any questions or ideas you have let me know.
Long press on the call button? Its what I do
I can put in a number then long press on the green button and lets me choose.

Thank you for letting me know, it work as you say for the regular phone dialer but not with the google voice dialer.
Google voice app still chooses what ever sim is set as primary sim.
I'm still looking for a solution to get google voice to use the sim that is not the primary.
Solution:
Switched to google dialer and in settings > Calling accounts = you can change the "Make calls with" to either "sim1" or "eSIM" or "Always Ask"
So now I can choose what sim to use with the google voice app.
Sweeeeeet. Now under each contact I can set a specific sim to call if I don't want to choose on the spot every time I call a contact.
time
I have two SIMs and in settings phone is set to always ask. When selecting a SIM during calling, is it possible to mark the selected sim ad default for future calls to that number (like Google dialer does)?
I think it just does it. I never had to set any defaults
It does not.
It asks for which sim, I chose sim 1 but then second time I call it'll ask again
it asks but defaults to whatever sim you've chosen earlier. so i can just dial

As you can see im always asked
I am using Google dialer due to dual sim. You can select the "calling account" and pick the sim you want to use as default. Texting is tricker. Messages won't do MMS unless you have that sim picked as primary (using it for data). Had to get a third party app to overcome that. Currently using pulse sms.
My question is how can I get a feature-rich phone/voicemail app for my new Samsung? My new flip was bought through Google Fi and the phone dialer and voicemail apps are vastly inferior to the app on my previous two phones also from Fi where these functions were integrated into one app. The old app or one very similar is in the play store as "Phone by Google" but when installed on the Flip the voicemail features are disabled and the option to turn them on in settings is greyed out. I interpret this to mean that Samsung has placed some kind of lock on this feature. Right now I can get transcription but it requires an awkward workaround that sends the voicemail to the text messaging app.
I would be happy if I could either get the Google app to work or another app with similar capabilities. When I speak of capabilities I would include transcription of voicemails and the ability to take actions on a phone number from the voicemail without having to memorize the number, navigate to the separate phone app, manually find the number, and finally take whatever actions such as blocking the number. As it stands I can't get the Google app to work and I do not see any viable alternatives in the play store and even if there were alternatives I would probably have the same problem with the voicemail blocked.

I agree that the Samsung dialer is inferior to the google dialer. I switched to the google dialer but the back screen doesn't work properly with calls. I switched back to the Samsung dialer which seems 10 years old.
I use Google phone dialer, haven't noticed any issues. When I was with Verizon, messages showed up fine as VM, but no transcription as wasn't supported on the plan I had. Switched to Tmobile, VM stopped working, they made me download their VM app, so I'm guessing service you are on dictates which app and how VM works. Because of this I've gone back to forwarding all VM to Google Voice and now get my transcripts and ability to archive VM, as well as forward and many other svs. Only negative I've had is if I call back the caller from GV, it uses their number, not the carrier number. Most of the time the caller leaves a different number to call back anyway, so I have to copy past from the transcription. So, if I can one click to call back, I just go back to the dialer, look for missed call, and call them back from there if the call back number js the same. I keep GV set on do not disturb so I'm never bothered with calls to that number, and still use GV to make all calls to people I don't want to have my cell, and when they call me it goes to VM automatically. Google Phone Dialer has also done an excellent job keeping spam from reaching me, I can't use the Google call intercept to verify caller, Pixel feature only, but the spam blocker seems to still work great.
