How to change height of status bar? - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Hello,
One of the reason I hate holes/notches it that you loose real state of your gorgeous screen taken by ultra high status bar. Back in a day (before notches) status bar was as high as clock text with couple of pixels above and under it... Now it's a big massive space under and above.
I minimalized the space above by using adb (screenshot attached) :
adb shell wm overscan 0,-30,0,0
(BTW sometimes it resets back to normal view, does anybody know hot to make it permanent?)
But space below still irritates me...
Does anybody knows any mod (I'm rooted and with Magisk) to modify it?

You can check "system UI tuner" but doubt it can do that.

I did try but no luck...

Magisk, EdXposed & Gravitybox or Renovate Ice rom

Unfortunately no, I settled to just use this ADB command I mentioned and top empty space is gone at least, I would like to get rid of the bottom one (below notification bar text/icons) but no luck so far...

Renovate doesn't allow status bar height adjustments, just the nav bar height adjustments.

I'll give it a try but from the screen shot you provided the status bar height seem pretty standard. Navbar maybe is smaller, but I don't use Navbar, I'm trying to get status bar smaller.

Question about the latest update?

Hello!
So I just have a quick question about the latest update for the S8, where they removed black as an option for the Navbar color and enabled us to hide it (immersive mode).
Whenever you hide the navbar, how does the "swipe up" gesture work in reality? As in how "good" does it work? I remember (before the update) trying the immersive mode with Custom Navigation bar (app), and the swipe up gesture was bad, whenever I tried to get the navbar up, I was scrolling up in the app I was using as well..?

It works great. Much easier than previously. And here's a link on Reddit to get Black NavBar back, it works and is safe.

Nice! But how much different is that from this: https://www.xda-developers.com/change-galaxy-s8-navigation-bar-color/amp/ ?
I'd rather use ADB than download an apk from an unknown source

It's just easier than ADB, if you don't have the sdk downloaded or not around a PC. I used ADB to get rid of the battery icon in the status bar. The apk is just an overlay like all of these.

[MODS] Small Collection of Tweaks!

Hello! This is a bunch of tweaks I created to make Samsung devices better by modding the interface to really polish it. Enjoy!
Installation
Installing is simple. Navigate to the play store and download the required packages.
Substratum
Substratum Required Addon For Samsung
Samsung System Mods via Playstore (RECOMMENDED)
Samsung System Mods Direct APK (BACKUP)
Tips
- A reboot is usually required to apply the tweak.
- Some tweaks are incompatible on some devices.
- Oreo is in beta (until I get it)
- The nav bar heights are broken on the note and oreo. I can't fix it. Sorry.
- I can do requests. All I ask is you consider donating.
- You can hide status bar icons. You must use another APK: SystemUI Tuner (from the play store)
More mods are coming! Please leave suggestions for more mods you want so I can try and make them. I've been getting lots of positive feedback. Also, Tigerhoods, Pimpmaneaton, Venom, and Crayonyes have been helping me a bit, so big thanks to them .

Would love to see if possible:

- hold power button (when screens off and on) to turn on torch

Once installed, it modifies your window animation scales in Developer Settings. It only supports English and a few others. Still working on it. If you get a dev menu FC, just delete the apk, set your animation scales to off, and reinstall it. It won't have all the options but it'll still work (IE: 0x, 0.1x, 0.2x, etc..) even though the corresponding text is wrong.

Nice work!
I hope someday you will find a mod to disable the gradient in the area of the status bar and a bit under it when we set a wallpaper as home screen or lock screen. Somewhere in the lines of the code of the system ui, Samsung gives the command to put this gradient. On the other hand if the user sets a live wallpaper , Samsung doesn't give this command. More about this matter here :

Hey mate any chance of a mod to have Center Clock?
Great mods especially no root, love them. What I miss the most is the gradient notification screen and also the long press volume to skip track
Hi,
is it possible to see the next event on the first "Always On" page? today we have to double tap on the clock and swipe to the next page.
Thanks...waiting for this
Will you make something to remove clock from statusbar?

For the long press, I have to check if I can add this, since I can only mod the res and not the actual java. In the meantime there's this app here that works for this:

Thank you. There must be a line in the code that sets the gradient automatically on when an image is set as wallpaper in home screen or lock screen. I hope you will find the solution to disable this gradient command.
Hello. Maybe you can also remove the Alarm Clock Icon in the Status bar.
By the way i have all of the tweaks in my phone except for AOD tweaks.
Thanks!

Hide your Navigation Bar

You can hide your navigation bar using the "Custom Navigation Bar" app. It works great, no root needed just Grant permission using adb. It'll definitely give your screen more real estate and prevent screen burn ins. Just swipe up and the navigation bar reappears with a transparent background.

Hiding the status bar doesn't work well with device, it throw off the touch sensor, for example if you were to try and click on a link you couldn't youd have to touch just below the link to click the link
Im going to buy the pro as im very satisfied on it. The youtube is displaying correctly vs the layout was offering to the other thread.

i dont like this. try youtube, remove the navbar and full screen on landscape, the aspect ratio is very odd
FYI this isn't an OLED screen, so burn-in isn't a reason to do this. LCD doesn't have that issue.
Great info was looking for something like this.
With custom nav bar the keyboard pops up like it is suppose to.
with the other app the keyboard had problems displaying, bought the pro version.

How i achieved the pixel nav bar with animations (no root)

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.damianpiwowarski.navbarapps
Use that app and set the static colour to black
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.axndx.prithvee.pixelnavbar
Then use this app and get the buttons placed correctly.
This isn't perfect and sometimes the nav bar has a mind if it's own but works in most apps
It also has the pixel animations
Also the nav bar has the be locked in the "up" position
Also I'm using cornify free in this pic
When I make this and I see duplicate navigation icons (one from the app and the original from the OOS launcher), I try every setting and no luck...

Yeah so u can adjust the buttons in the pixel nav bar app. Make them sighly smaller than the oos ones. For me the oxygen os ones are the "outline" and the pixel ones fill in the space.
See this pic. The light gray is oos
My settings
Thanks with moving one over the other it works. But I thinking of rooting my phone not waiting for OOS Oreo update. And make customization a lot easier!

Well I had the animation without root. Still using this guide.
Try to use telegram with Navbar, and see what happens when you use the keyboard and try to attach something to the message
Guys, sorry for the request, I'm not very skilled in the programming but I guess it's easy to create a flashable .zip that substitutes only the icons of the OP5t navbar with those of the Pixel, without animations. Would someone do it? It would be a more elegant solution and without the horrible gray edges that you see using the play store app.

Its actually really easy t get the pixel navbar.
If you use substratum. Just download awesome navbar and press pixel and install. That's it. For nougat it requires root, if ur on oreo beta it does not. (Only adb)

I do not use substratum, I had tried a xposed module that did not work very well, so I had come to the point of wanting a flashable .zip like the old times on Nexus 6p. I will try substratum, thank you very much for the advice!

Autohide status bar in every application

Is it possible to ensure that the StatusBar can hide automatically and then be recalled with a swype from top to bottom? For example, I installed the launcher Agama (very nice) and on the launcher this function is active... I find the status bar rather useless, and especially on some apps, like Google Maps, is very annoying.
@Malaysk, can you enable this function in your next rom?
How did you get on finding a solution.

sorry, I did not understand, you have applied this change via xposed and not via terminal? because I still have a small problem, the status bar does not disappear when I have the screen divided in two ... and it is rather annoying
