Double tap to wake in-call not working - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Double tap to wake is not working for me while in a call. Is that the way the OnePlus 7 Pro is supposed to work or is it my default dialer that is causing the issue? Drupe.

i just tried to duplicate your issue, while in call, screen never goes to sleep, up to ear screen off, away from ear screen on. If I hit the power button while in call, and double tap to wake up, nothing happens. I would say probably design default.

It's done by design to not allow DTTW in call

More than likely that way a double tap from your face does not unlock the phone and you face starts pressing things or even hang up on somebody.

phone not wake up just after removing phone from ear

You can double tap to wake now as long as you're not on a call.

[Request] [Xposed] Module to Swap Power Button With Vol+

The new m8 just got root, and I'd like to see if anyone could fix the issue i have with the hardware key placement. Specifically, the position of the power button annoys me quite a bit. On the old One it was at least accessible through your index finger, but the m8 must have been designed by lefties!
I'm looking for a module that would swap the function of the power key with the vol+ key to see if that will fix my little hangup with this phone. No pun intended.
Thanks!

I'm surprised this isn't a bigger complaint amongst m8 users. Well, if anyone finds anything, please let me know! Thanks!

I'm also not a fan of the power button being switched. At least we can double tap the screen to unlock. Cuts down the usage a bit.

Agreed, but it doesn't help when wanting to lock it quickly with one hand after the phone has already been unlocked. I'm more interested in that function than waking it. But glad to see I'm not alone in this.

I use this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock in tandem with Nova Launcher and just assign a gesture to it which in turn will turn the screen off and lock. Works great.
I just use gmd gesture control to do a three finger downward swipe to shut the device off.

For my purposes, I'm trying to find a one-handed solution. So 3 fingers is no help when the phone is in-hand. But thanks for sharing your idea!

What I did was use gravitybox > navigation key actions and then set back key long press to go to sleep. Works perfect but I am left handed so you might want a different key.

This is how I do it. Just a single finger swipe upwards shuts my screen off, then a double tap turns it back on. Works great for me!
Now if only someone could figure out how to get double tap (to wake) working in landscape mode.
Hey guys -- I just posted a fresh thread for this, but since I assume you all have weaksauce+xposed working...
After my soft-reboot to install xposed, wifi would not turn on. Did anyone else have anything similar happen?
I did weaksauce, phone off/on, install xposed, full reboot (accidentally), enable xposed, soft reboot, then no wifi when the phone came back up.
Any ideas?

Tap2Wake

Hi, do ya also have problem with tap 2 wake when phone is locked ?? After last update my galaxy s8plus wont unlock if i typing twice on display.
How about you ??
Do you have the Always On Display turned on? The double tap only works with AOD. You can also turn on to wake with a long press where the home button is, this works without AOD.
Tap2wake
Yes i got turned on AOD.

raise to wake

raise to wake feature ? like oppo does
What?
is this feature possible in oneplus 6 ??
I am asking myself the same question. On Xiaomi mi 8 and others, you have the option to lift the phone and wake it, and without presing any buttons face unlock kicks in, and unlocks the phone instantly. On OP6 you must press the power button so the face unlock kisks in. Is the xiaomi way to unlock possible on OP6.? Anyone...
yep ... just install Port of miui10 ROM
its much buggy
There is a option to double tap to open.
Yes, the OP6 has a lift to wake feature out of the box.

Double tap to wake does this, though !

keeps turning screen on in pocket

Is there any way to get a pocket option on this phone?
It keeps turning the screen on in my pocket and whenever I pull it out it says fingerprint tried too many times and I even turned off tap to wake and double tap to wake and it still does it in my pocket
Any advice?

You can use tap to wake or double tap to wake. Try turning off pick up your phone to show in ambient display settings.
I have that off and tap to wake on and don't get screen wakes in my pocket.

Tap to wake, double tap to wake, sweep to wake, all useless (here). Phone will wake up no matter what, will send random texts, change my ringtones, call people, all while in pocket.
It's amazing something like this can happen on a flagship phone in 2019. But... I guess "they're working on it". :good:

Sounds like you have body detection on. So try going in to security & lockscreen / smart Lock then turn off on body detection. Hope it helps.

Question Tap to wake randomly doesn't work

I generally like my 6A, but I am so frustrated by the fact that sometimes I can tap the screen to wake it, and sometimes I have to push the power button.
Does anyone else experience this, and do you have a solution ?
For background, yes I have tap to wake turned on.
Is global power management active? That can cause erratic behaviors.
It doesn't work for me outside at night.
There was a time when it was broken, afte a few seconds of screen off it will stop working, but that was a beta build.

I've searched settings and I don't find global power management. Can you point me in the right direction?

Interestingly, mine doesn't wake up after being in my pocket for a while. That's when it happens 99% of the time

What ROM are you on?
100% stock with the March security update recently applied.
A long time ago I read something about connecting to a Bluetooth device interfering with the tap to Wake feature.
When I got the March security update everything was working fine and I figured that Google had corrected whatever was wrong.
I don't know if it's coincidence, but yesterday I connected my Bluetooth speaker and son of a gun. Now it's doing the same thing again.

It's an Android core feature. Usually found in battery management with a cute name like adaptive battery.
Developer options>stand by apps, if all buckets show as active global power management is disabled. However it can't be disabled here. Altering individual app battery management doesn't effect this.
I'm rooted (stock March) and use AOSP mods option to have 'double tap to wake' replace single tap and also 'double tap to screen off' enabled and I still have times when I have to press power to wake but dub. tap to scr off is pretty reliable. FWIW I have Adap. Pwr turned off. I may see if the ASOP dev can shine some light cuz it IS annoying as hell.
I have the same problem, in addition there are identical problems with the gesture to turn on the flashlight (double tap on the back of the phone)

What are these "AOSP mods options" you speak of?
The tap to wake/double tap to sleep has been a real step down on the P6a compared to my LG-V30.
As to the OP - yes, I have seen seemingly random issues with tap to wake. Sometimes I can tap the screen several times with no response and end up resorting to the power button. Other times it just works.

Try in safe mode.
Check Accessibility options, tap duration.
Also fails for me randomly, however I'm running a custom ROM where I can toggle "pocket mode".
What I've found is that when tap to wake doesn't work, and I press the power button to wake the device, the pocket protection mode shows up on the screen for a split second (my device sitting my desk, screen up).
My guess is that the proximity sensor dies down for some odd reason, and the phone thinks the screen is covered, thus tap to wake shouldn't work.

This makes a lot of sense to me. I wish there was a fix for it.
Its almost certainly proximity sensor related.

No such option in Accessibility, or in any of the sub-options (system, Timing, etc).
Will try Safe mode later, but I'm doubtful...
