I'm sorry for the incredibly naïve question, I am new to this and am absolutely freaking out.
So I successfully unlocked the bootloader on my Pixel 3a, and then tried to follow this post and flashed the .img file corresponding to my build number, but my device got caught in a boot loop. I then downloaded the stock ROM from here, and tried to use flash-all.bat in order to reflash my phone, but I got error messages and my phone now says that it is corrupted when I turn it on. What should I do? Again, sorry for such a naïve question.

Stay calm. It will be alright.
Download factory image, download fastboot and adb, move factory image to same directory as fastboot and adb, unzip factory image, go to stock recovery, factory reset device from stock recovery, reboot to fastboot, fastboot flashall.bat.

Keep in mind that steps above will erase your phone.
You can try to remove the "-w" if you edit the flash-all.bat if you want to try that without wiping. It should work.
Oh thank goodness, I fixed it. Thank you so much, my mind tends to go to worst case scenario, and knowing that not all was lost was very reassuring. Now do you mind explaining to me what I did wrong, and what I need to do to gain root access?

Probably nothing. Sometimes it's like voodoo mixed with black magic. Pixels are sometimes finicky beasts. What works on one sometimes doesn't on others. Just remember, as long as you can get to fastboot, you are golden. Very hard to brick once your unlocked.

Okay, so I'm trying to set it up now, but the touchscreen is totally jacked. I can't even get passed the first screen. Is this a problem with how I flashed it?
EDIT: I think I downloaded the ROM for the 3a XL, trying again now.
EDIT 2: Yeah, I definitely flashed the wrong one, lmao.
is this fastboot?

Now that we have permanent root, here are some splash screens I made for the Sensation. I will continue to add more as I make them. They will need to be converted from .png to .img. XDA member gariak has made this pretty simple. Click here for the files you need along with his instructions. Once you have the .png file converted to a .img file you will need to flash it to the phone through the bootloader. As always, I am not responsible if you mess up your phone. If you want this splash screen in a different color let me know.
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash splash1 new_splash.img
fastboot reboot

Hmm, yep, I found that method before asking for help here, but I felt uneasy about using dd directly on /dev/block. That's so low level I felt it can easily go wrong as the layout might have changed with different firmwares and newer ROMs or something like that. It surely is quick and elegant but you know... it seems quite hardcore for a Sensation noob like me. Thanks anyway I might try it next time

Pre-bootanimation image
Hey guys. I just updated my splashscreen to the standard HTC one, but with black background rather than white. However before the bootanimation comes on, I still have the white with HTC (no quietly brilliant), I think maybe its a BIOS animation. Anyone know how I can get rid of this or make it black also? Thanks in advance
Hi, This is a tread to help you guys gain eng-off just.
Please make sure you are already S-off.
So just take the attached file load it into the root of your sd card and boot into hboot (power button +volume down), hboot should show up and give you an update message for the bootloader. Press the volume up, and voila done now you can do everything in adb without getting the remote:not allowed comment.

You can flash radio without this, just need to pack the radio img into a PD98IMG.zip.
It can be useful if you wanna use fastboot commands or adb,as was mentioned before.
@OP:
Is it the same hboot which was in jkoljo's Easy S-Off tool?
basically yes it is. JUst made it as simple as possible.
Maybe a good idea to credit where you got the source from.
Good to see simple methods though.

Everyone can do this, but I would strongly suggest not to.
ENGhboot is only good for when you are downgrading to 1.32 which is old news anyway and I think there are better ways to downgrade, like AAHK.
Flashing ENG hboot can damage the bootloader it self and severely downgrade your phones performance.
I've done that to one of my DHDs and an Inspire (for test purposes only since I have a bazillion of em, don't do it your self unless you really want to). Both phones have had the following issues ever since:
Stuck on splash screen
Stuck on boot anim (IF passed splash)
Very slow response from system and apps (IF you boot it up)
Changing radio and kernel (read playing with it until you hit the right combination) might yield some result but the damage is permanent.
This information has also been verified here:

To return to stock you just have to flash a stock RUU. In the downgrade threads you can flash the stock rom thats posted there through the bootloader that will return everything back to stock 1.32. I used this when i sent my phone of for repair and everythin was good. This does wipe the phone back to exactly how it was when you first got it.
I upgraded to the 1.82 ruu, then updated to the asia superpatch. Then I didnt like the asia superpatch, was having issues.
So I have tried to ruu back to the 1.82 version and it failed. Now I am at the HTC logo screen with the 4 triangles with !.
I have tried connecting phone and adb does not see the phone.
I have tried volume down and power and it just goes back to HTC triangle screen.
Nothing works, sometimes the ruu looks like its going to work and I get a progress meter but it fails around 51% when its flashing radio.
Please help.

oh man, this does sound like a brick. if you can't do volume down + power to get to fastoot, then i don't believe there's a way to flash the RUU. i've read it wasn't supposed to be possible to upgrade then potentially downgrade after upgrading. and adb no picking it up is no good as well mate.
I did get to a screen that says

RUU
And thats it
run the ruu with windows administrator permission
Oh trust me I have tried. The only thing the phone responds to is fastboot commands. If anyone has any fastboot ideas I would like to try them.
Thanks.

Try this
First, make sure you're in fastboot mode, then type 'fastboot oem rebootRUU'
Next, make sure you have the .zip RUU file in the same folder and type 'fastboot flash zip XXX.zip' (replace XXX with whatever it's called, of course)
Now, you can see what is actually happening when you are flashing the RUU. In my case, there was 2 points where it told me to "re-flush image immediately" or something like that. When I ran the last command again (fastboot flash zip XXX.zip) it went a bit further each try, but it took until the 3rd try before it was successful.
thanks to kilo89 for method

You stated that your phone IS S-Off. The whole point is that you should not flash an RUU on an S-Off phone as it will cause you to lose S-Off unless (like me and a few of us old-timers) you obtained S-Off with an XTC-Clip.
You have hBoot 2.00.0002 (or at least you HAD that version). You will need to see if you can still get into recovery, or get into fastboot, and get the current information for your phone.
You really, really need to do some searching and reading - you will only be helping yourself if you actually understand what you are doing and why.

I've been searching for 2 days now and can't come up with an answer. This last time trying to go back to stock using Odin the phone goes through the process but it takes 2 minutes instead of the usual 10 minutes or so. When the phone reboots still stuck with the unauthorized software message. I thought as long as I could access download mode the phone was recoverable. Under binary counter in download mode it says yes counter 5 instead of the preferred no. From what I've read the only way to reset the counter is with the triangle away app which I obviously can't get the phone to that point. My question am I screwed? Is there any other way to get my phone back to stock using a different file or are there alternate methods to reset the counter? I thought the counter was only for store purposes and wouldn't affect flashing abilities. Please help I'm using an iPhone 5 because of this issue and I hate it.

Try downloading another Odin image. You can go with a no wipe image or whatever. But try a different image. If its only taking 2 minutes there might be something screwy with the file. After you do that it should relock your boot loader and flash a stock recovery.
You're not screwed. And question... Were you running a version of AOSP 4.3 or 4.4?
