Sd card slot - Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE

Hi everyone, can somebody help me?
I bought photon in very poor condition, last owner wanted sim mod, but he broke SD-slot.
He pulled the tracks off the board and i cant fix it normal way
So, have this smartphone some test point, or tracks for slot on other side of board or have someone scheme of board or service manual?
P.s: I'm not sure that this question fits this section, so tell me if you need to write somewhere else

Don't detect micro-sd card

Helloworld.
My symptoms: the device spontanely stopped to detect memory card (the card itself is functioning - checked already, as well as plugging another card into my pola), however the device reacts (wakes up) to the memory card insertion switch status changes (present/absent).
At a glance - all components on the M/B seem to be intact, however I didn't made it yet to unsoldering the card holder and watching inside for bent/absent pins.
Can someone provide me with a clue - what components on the polaris M/B are responsible for communicating with the SD card, and which ones of them I need to check to make sure they function properly?
No clue about that in "classified" service manual from wiki
Am I missing something?
I'm seeing the same thing - curiously problem also occurred on the 6th...
I'd be interested if you find a solution (I'l come back and post if I do)

So, finally got my hands on that one polaris I noticed lying around.
The problem itself was in card-reader slot. I never found the replacement for the slot itself, so I de-soldered it and soldered a micro-sd card right into place using small pieces of old ATA-166 cable lying around. Turned out not as good-looking, as it could be, done by a professional, but still does the job very well. Now device is functioning properly
However, the connector, that was originally on the M/B got 10 pins on the sides, 8 of which supposed to be connected to the micro-sd card. Maybe some1 here know why the hell there is 10 of them and what are 2 extras supposed to be connected to? Also, is the 8 pin supposed to be connected to the switch that represent card absence/presence?
Just before soldering you should try SD Formatter 2.0 for SD/SDHC (sdcard.org/consumers/formatter/) It almost saved my patience !

I dont believe it is possible... but if you REALLY DID IT... then youre really an incredible INSAN3 Genius!!!
PLease give me further details. Since I opened the Polaris to replace a broken LCD screen the SD card reader broke apart... now I'm using my polaris with the (small) internal memory only (sigh!)
...maybe it's right time for a new phone, but while It is still not broken at all... I would like to try to fix the SD in the way you tell us you did it!

[Q] MicroSd Jump Out

Hello Everybody
I'm newbie here , I have a probleme with my Asus eee pad TF101 , when i plug the Microsd in the micro sd slot it always jumps out but after a lot of tryng i succeed , then i have to set it in by an adhesive tape to prevent it from jumpin out.
After days it jumps out again then i have to repeat that again ......
First excuse my English
Second the country (morocco) i live in is not supported by asus warranty , i have just bought it from a third party seller safe and new and never been unboxed .
Third , i want to share my problem just in case .
Finally i have another request : is there any other option to buy android apps apar from android market ? Because my country is not supported by android market .
Please I need some help , i will be gratefull and thankfull
Thanks a lot
Soufiane
Are you sure you are pushing the microSD card in the slot deep enough? If I don't push using my nail, my card also jump.
The card slot have two positions, locked and unlock, maybe by some previous unsuccessful try you left it locked and the card jumped, I have faced this problem before, all you need to do is to push the card in the slot again, since it's locked, the card won't go in, but It will unlock and you need to push again and the slot will hold the microSD.
Yeah, I hate that too. By the way, does it mess up the usd card if I mess up and don't push it deep enough?
Shouldn't mess up the card if not pushed in all the way, it just won't work. Wonder what the record is for these cards flying out, I've had mine go 4-5 feet
First Thanks a lot for your help i really appreciated it, I tried so hard to push it in, but it looks like the resilience spring doesn't work well, i changed the microsd card but it didn't work either.

SIM Card tray/holder/connector

My A2 sim card connector has broken..
i'm gonna open the cellphone and try to fix it.. but i'll probably need a new one..
I googled for a long time but only found it at cellphone-repair-shop..
does anybody know another website with atrix2/motorola parts?
Thanks!
I know this is a very old post, but did u manage to get ur hands on the sim tray??
My reader is also destroyed. From that I see you can solder it very easy. One day I'll try it, because Atrix 2 is not my main device. So if I'll destroy board by soldering new socket - there wont be problem.
I posting my destroyed socket picture.
Some news.
I desoldered SIM reader with success. Phone still powers on.
Now I only need to buy new reader and solder it and see if phone accepts new sims. So stay tuned.

[Q] Sim card not recognized and missing pcb component

Ok. Since apparently I can't post links of any sort, this is going to get complicated. Sorry in advance. I have links and pictures I could send via Message, if someone would be kind enough to post them. I don't think spamming 10 random posts just to get permission to post links is a good idea...
So I was following Chales Wilkinson's guide to installing a sim card slot. I successfully connected the slot to the PCB, double-checked all the connections, made sure I had not created any accidental short circuits and tried several different sim cards, none of which were recognized. I even soldered the sim card directly to the PCB (without bothering with the slot, thinking it might have been broken), still nothing. I have CM 10.2.1 installed. It had no trouble with the built-in sim card and is otherwise running completely fine.
Searching for things I might have done wrong, I've found that there appears to be a component missing on my PCB. It's the thing that resides above the sd card slot, right next to the screw that fixes the PCB. Now my question is: can anyone tell me, what that was and whether it might be the reason behind the problems I'm having? And whether it can be replaced somehow without getting a new phone? I know that's not likely, but I want to be completely sure before starting all over again...
Sorry again for not being able to show this properly.
@CornholioGSM is a very helpful gent and can guide you through what may have gone wrong.
He could also fix your phone for you, and do the mod 'professionally' if you will (for a fair price, of course).

PM him or he seems to prefer email (see post I linked above).
However, it sounds like you blew one of the teeny tiny resistors around the SIM slot. Seems to happen a lot when people attempt this mod which is NOT easy by any means.

Replace sim card slot reader

Hi, I just purchased a Galaxy S7 SM-G930FD and wanted to do the 2 sim and 1 SD card mod so that I could have both my lines plus SD card however the mod got stuck in my tray, I damaged the micro SD card and Sim card and I had to push the eject tool so hard that it damaged the ejection mechanism! Now the tray won´t go all the way in! What´s the replacement part that I need to order and where can I buy it?
Thanks!

Hi
Check in Ebay they have them OEM or generic
Thanks, What should I look for?
Hi! Thanks! The thing is I don´t what to look for. I´ve searched for the motherboard but that doesn´t have the card slot, neither does the front or back chasis. I would prefer to buy a piece that includes the card slot so I won´t have to solder anything.

Hi Max 404, Thanks! but the tray is in perfect condition, what I ruined and need to replace is the slot where the tray goes, would you happen to know which part of the phone comes with the card reader slot? I´ve found the reader itself but I have very little experience soldering.
Thanks a bunch

Mate
That is going to be very expensive , is the mainboard and lots of disassembly...not easy at all
Check here (step 11)
Here part number , plus no IMEI you have to get someone to transfer your original Imei to the new mainboard.......
Did you ever successfully fix it?
Same problem on S8+
after bending 2 eject tools to get the tray out (had installed 2 SIM + Micro SD mod) I managed to get the tray to stick out from the phone for like 2 microns!. the tray wouldnt move out any further so what I ended up doing was to pull the tray out with the help of dental floss! as genius as I thought I was, soon after I found out that the tray no longer sits flush inside the phone. even without any SIM or SD card. the tray it self looks alright. I think I have damaged the eject mechanism as well. Has any one solved this issue? am I looking at a costly repair? could it be the tray being deformed?
I cant post pictures sadly yet here. would appreciate if any one can help.
