Snapchat performance under new OxygenOS 9.5.7 Int'l -vs- 9.5.6 T-Mobile - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

So I noticed something strange after converting my phone from T-Mobile firmware to International firmware. Using Snapchat with the rear facing camera was working great (as far as Android devices go) on the T-Mobile firmware, and now that I have switched to the newest International firmware, the rear facing camera *only* seems to be doing the weird viewfinder hack it used prior to using Camera 1/Camera 2 API (no proper exposure leveling/auto-focus). The front facing camera performance is better. What gives, and has anyone else noticed this since the latest update? I find it odd especially since the camera application itself is vastly improved.

Maybe I'm not understanding you but I'm running basically the same phone and same software as you, T-Mobile with international 9.6.7.
I opened Snapchat and with the rear camera I focused on something 6 feet away and then I moved my hand back and forth in front of the camera and it's switched the focus fine.

Too slow when switching camera!

Hello, this problem is related to the camera apps on my GT-N7100. In fact, I found that the switching between the rear facing and front facing camera is a bit too slow compared to my other phone. As a matter of fact, when I am on the rear facing camera and I want to switch to the front facing camera to film myself, it takes about 8 seconds. This is a bit too long for a phone like Note 2 and even my Atrix has a way better switching speed. But the speed is acceptable when switching back from front to rear camera (about 1 second or 2). This is not just for one camera app, but for many, so I do not think is the problem for a specific app only. I've tried to lower the resolution to the lowest for the front camera, but it doesn't change anything and the speed remains the same. Thanks. I've been searching for a while in this forum and I've seen many of you guys have the same issue, but no one has found a solution. Thanks again.

Snapchat and grainy photos

Hello everyone,
The photos from Snapchat specially with the front camera turn out to be quite grainy. Updated to the latest version and still the same issue. Anyone experiencing the same? And is there a probable fix? Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.
I have the same issue. They fixed it for a while but it appeared again on last update
i have same issue too. front cam is normally bad also in default app, but on snapchat it is awful

Front camera is not normally bad in default app, you must have software or hardware issue. This is a Snapchat issue, you should probably email developer.

I mean against the main camera. front is not so good. i tested it with 4-5 devices at same quality level they are all slightly better in terms of front camera. i dont know my device has problem or not but, i couldn't take clear photo in close-up. it seems little bit blurry

Of course the rear camera is going to be better than the front camera. You can not take close up pictures with the front(selfie cam). Phone needs to be at least a foot away(arms length is better).
Threes definitely an issue with Snapchat and the front camera on this phone. The photos are ridiculously grainy and much worse than front photos taken with the stock camera app.
Yes it is. Snapchat team needs to fix that on their software. But I don't think that it will be soon

any usable gcam port available?

while the build in cam is nice... still like the gcam. any version that works?
tried s10 port and it crashes
I've been using S10 Port no issues. Note 10 (-) snapdragon unlocked
I'm using the S10 port as well and everything seems to work except using HDR with the wide angle lens causes the app to crash on both 6.1 and 6.2.

Im also seeing the same crashing issue, its also not saving wide angle lens photos at all. Regular angle lens works fine.

I'm using the S10 Port and I doesn't give an option for a wide angle lens and any setting with the front facing option will keep crashing upon taking a picture. Everything else seems to work fine, including the night option. . I hope an apk comes out soon, as there is a significant difference in quality vs the default camera on the Note 10 +. After seeing the results, I don't even want to open the default camera. The amount of noise and non-focus is a turn off for me.

Yep same here. I installed the latest 6.2 GCam and while the camera doesn't crash on that version it also doesn't take any pics with the wide angle camera.

I've been using 1+ 7 Pro ports for the past month. Everything works afaik (aside from switching to telephoto manually). Many ports are available in Tele groups where Arnova, and other porters reside. Links to these groups can't be shared on the forum ofc, against the rules.
How can we get access? I have tried so many different version. I'm on Note10+ US Snapdragon.
I can't find anything that supports Wide Angle, Portrait, or RAW. All files come out in 600 resolution when using raw/dng.

Question Photo quality without the stock rom camera app

Hi all,
my new OP 9 Pro Phone is a direct import from China (LE 2021) and I instantly flashed LineageOS 18.1 on it. Everything worked fine - but I'm disappointed by the Photo quality taken by the free camera apps like OpenCamera or ProCamX. The resolution ends up with 12 MP and the sharpness is rather bad an I can only use teh main lens. Only if I switch on the face detection function the sjarpness is quite ok, but not what I expected from a flag ship phone. The best Camera App I detected so far is the Google Camera apk (I installed MGC_8.1.101_A9_GV1i_MGC.apk). But the sharpness of the fotos are still lousy to my mind. Any tipps how I can improve it ?
Thanks a lot !

And Google cam is awful on the op9 series as well. Stock oos is where it's at. You got device and flashed lineage immediately you stated. Never took any pics on stock prior?. I love my op9 cam. Just need to be on stock.

Nope. I love my custom rom, but I miss the photo quality. Is there any other way to receive high quality photos without switching to stock ? I heard that crDroid is working on a it. Is any progress known ? Thanks in advance ...
Commenting on the same topic - hate stock ROMs - love stock OP9 camera... I would even pay someone to Port it...
Gcam with recommended profile not working well?
Nope, the focus doesn't work well, the camera flutters a lot after I pointed the area on the screen I want to set sharply. I guess that GCam is the reason for that since the focus works well with e.g. pixtica or ProCamX foto App. But for pixtica the resolution of the foto is worse due to max 12 MP. See also ...

Question Fixes for back camera lag / quality

Hello there,
I'm currently running ArrowOS 12, but I've noticed the back camera quality has dropped significantly. It records at extremely slow framerates, and looks extremely blurry.
Is there any fix available in form of e.g. a magisk patch?
The reason for a separate thread being the fact that I suspect this not to be a rom-specific issue.
Thank you in advance!
EDIT: meant back camera, not front
also some additional context: it only seems to happen in low light environments, which may or may not point at sensor issues in low light.

For some extra context, it only seems to do this in dark environments (I flashed the rom late at night). During the day the camera feed is buttery smooth. Perhaps some sensor issues?
also, turns out I made a small mistake in my OP. I meant the back camera.
Don't use the GoCamera but the Google Camera BSG8.1 with the config

Honestly, this does not fix my experiences with tiktok, whatsapp, snapchat, instagram etc.
