Keeping the display at 1080p at 60hz and then rebooting the phone will wash the screen colours in low brightness. Changing to QHD fix it.
Anyone encountering this bug ?

Hi..
When i'm recording the video i see these black horizontal lines moving upwards which is really annoying. I've been facing this problem from my first video recorded. And the other issue with display is when i open options menu on any white/light colored background(specially during browsing) i notice the screen flickers. This problem disappear on high or very very low brightness.I'm using the device for two months now.Anybody else facing or faced such problems. What is the solution to this?
Me too :-(
Any solution?

Well what i have discovered with the video recording issue seems to be with the fluorescent lighting. I've tested it very well and turning on the tube light (fluorescent lamp) causes the dark rolling lines in video. Now I want to know if this occurs only in few mobiles with any particular bug? Can you guys check this and confirm? Also is this a hardware or software related bug?
And i still don't have any clue about the display flickering on touching the menu and back options area of the screen.
Any help would be of great use to solve this issue.
Regards

Are you using the stock ROM. Did you ever try other ROM's and test if this was a software bug of stock ROM?
To solve screen flickering problem you can go to Settings -> Display, and uncheck "Auto adjust screen power" option. I guess this option works like "dynamic contrast" option in PC monitors, by lowering screen brightness in some scenes. This may save some battery life, but the side effect is screen flickering during some animations, etc.
And I think that issue with fluorescent light occurs on a lot of digital cameras.

Thanks a ton dude.. Disabling that feature feature really did a trick for LCD flicker. Yeah i've seen that black rolling lines in a few other camera videos but when i record videos, they appear so dark and distracting.. Its all the black lines rolling upwards and I have to delete that annoying video immediately. Also I read it has to do with the frequency of lamps in asia etc etc.. Can a few of you guys check this issue and clarify.
There an issue I've been noticing recently. When the screen returns to normal brightness from being dim, there is extreme lag. this also happens when it goes from full brightness to dim. Has anyone else noticed this issue and is there a solution? I was hoping that this wasn't an issue with my phone specifically.
I have my display set to automatically adjust brightness and pretty often the display goes haywire. The lighting I'm in won't change, but the display will suddenly become much brighter or dimmer than it was a moment before.
Is anyone else having this issue, or do I have a dud?
some here. screen brightnes going crazy before and after factory reset
I always use lux (paid) and now I have it on luma (camera source for reading the light). Works perfect!
Yesterday i noticed something strange in my OP7p and i'd like you to check whether something like this occurs in your phones. Issue, which i will describe occurs only when i have 90hz refresh rate set and the low brightness of the screen with the auto adjustment of brightness turned off. The easiest way to see that is on youtube application with a dark theme. When we start a movie on the full screen (horizontally) and watch it for a few seconds, then go back to the vertical position, there is something like weak but visible blink of the screen, or a minimal colours change. It can be noticed in other apps, e.g. on facebook. Seems to me this is a software problem, beacause the same phenomenon doesn't exists when we set 60hz refresh. I would be very grateful if you can check it on your phones and give me a know about it.
I don't usually start videos in full screen mode and never noticed it but yeah definitely does a white flicker.
This is the highest brightness I could get it to do the flicker at.
Thank you for an answer. Personally i am able to see this flicker on a little bit higher screen brightness, but maybe its because im sitting in a dark room now. I was worried cause sometimes i see it during the normal usage of phone, and if only my OnePlus would be affected by this flickering i could still return it or exchange for a new one. It isnt very disturbing however interesting is whats cause of it.

this is usual for EVERY Oled screen and is called jelly effect...
You might want to try the DC dimming option in Settings->Utilities->OnePlus Laboratory.

From what i know jelly effect appears while we scrolling some content and propably that's not what i meant in my first post. Also flicker in my case is only visible on 90hz refresh rate.
I have galaxy s7e as a second phone and that effect doesn't happen there.

Thanks but i tried this option and it didn't do the job well.
My note 20 ultra has vague gray horizontal lines when displaying a gray background at the lowest brightness when running at 120Hz but it disappears at when the brightness increases or when switching to 60hz. Is this normal for AMOLED displays ?
I tried doing it on my unit but everything seems fine. Can you send a photo so we can see what it looks like?
It's prominently visible in a dark room
This is when it's running at 120hz
Same here
They all have it. It's the 120hz mode banding.

Same here have u sorted out this issue!?
I'm having the same trouble with my Samsung S20 Ultra as well. Mine wasn't even dropped or had put pressure on the screen for it to be physically damaged. I did, however, noticed the lines appear after an August security patch update was installed so I'm waiting to see if a new system update would fix the annoying lines. Other than that, the phone's performance (battery and processor wise) doesn't seem to have changed.
