Does AdAway works in OOS 9.5.5? - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi, first of all, sorry for my bad english.
I just updated my 7Pro and rooted it, and installed the last AdAway release from XDA. The problem is, they didn't block any of the ads from Chrome or any other app like 9gag.
Has anyone tried to use any adblocker for this version of OOS?
Thanks!

yes here is a magisk module of the app i made so if you don't like it just uninstall module
download
u need to make sure you force close chrome and reboot after you updated adaway

Thanks for the quick replay, but I finally found a solution. I had to enable the "Systemless host" in Magisk options.
Thanks for you help anyway

Dang, you have a Magisk module for everything. You should start a thread with them all listed. I'm sure people would appreciate it.

My modules

I rooted OnePlus 7 Pro and wanted to make OTA update. But as a newbie I didn't turn off fingerprint lock before reboot. OP 7 Pro just froze after reboot on PIN screen and turned off to stock recovery. I could only make a hard reset. After that my OP 7 Pro turned on. I make one more time root process - fastboot boot twrp.img > in TWRP Install Recovery Ramdisk from twrp.img > Flash Magisk.zip. But now Adaway doesn't work and I tried everything - granted root access, permission to write in memory, in adaway systemless option turn on same in Magisk. Can you please help me? Uninstall and install adaway didn't help me. Everything looks good but advertises are still display.

Make Super Mario Run work on Rooted Android Devices

This is a starter thread for getting Nintendo's latest Android app (which has finally come from iOS over three months later), Super Mario Run, to work on Android devices that have been rooted and possibly have no Google Play Store installed. Developers, please contribute your findings!
It worked with root but I got an error when I finished the tutorial. Then I saved my game with a Nintendo account and I cleared game data. I've used magisk hide with this game and I can play again

After you've installed Magisk you just need to go to the Settings in the Magisk Manager APP and enable Magiskhide and then you should See a new tab for Magisk hide in the Manager APP and just select the Apps you want to hide root.
(Sorry for my Bad English)

So do I flash via twrp the zip in the magisk post?
I use magisk to hide mario but when i pass the tutorial send error 804 5100 and have to delete the Account:.xml located in /data/data/com.nintendo.zara/sharedfolder and then log in with my account so brings my save but i complete 1 course and the same error again and have to do it all over again, does anybody find a solution for this?
Is magisk a supersu replacement or can I just install alongside? It also says it requires 5.x so no 4.4?

Don't think magisk works with cm12 on Amzn Fire Phone bc bootloader isn't actually unlocked. They should limit SafetyNet to Leaderboards - pretty sure that's what all the fuss is about. Fine, Nintendont take my money!
Magisk Manager won't install Magisk on my rooted S7 Edge. I've read that it's not compatible with Samsung devices right now, don't know if that's true. How else can I make Super Mario Run work?
suhide give me bootloop with lineos so I will try magisk

Yes, You can use it alongside with SuperSU.

Rooted Nexus 5 running Cataclysm 6.0.1
Miitomo was patched using a special security bypasser made for it, and also with XPosed and RootCloak. Is there a similar method for those who seem to have issues using Magisk?
I myself haven't tried Magisk. I'll see how it works on my Galaxy S7. :fingers-crossed:
Xda, please merge this thread with the other thread that I made. I accidentally made a duplicate.
I do not have Google Play services installed, and it seems to need it.
I'm currently running Magisk with Magisk Hide on and RootCloak as well and it keeps erroring out. Currently the only workaround I've found is deleting the deviceAccount xml file in the app prefs folder. I have a feeling it has something to do with xposed or safetynet that's causing it to fail. I enjoy the game enough that I wouldn't mind buying it, but not if Nintendo is going to lock users out like this.

Is there any way to completely disable the Zen feature?

I plan on rooting my OnePlus 7 Pro when I get it.
I really don't want to have anyone turn Zen mode on (I don't plan on using it at all). It's pretty stupid that OnePlus didn't require authentication before entering Zen Mode (so you'd have to authenticate before Zen actually locks your phone down). Since they didn't do that, did anyone make a mod (magisk or otherwise) which completely nukes the feature?
i'll make one if u want to try it out
I'd love to, although I won't be receiving the 7 Pro for another week probably, I gotta get it forwarded from the US.
I really want that thing disabled. Ideally in a Magisk module or just generally something that won't break SafetyNet (because I use Google Pay)
no prob i'll get it ready
Thank you! I'd recommend making a post on the mods section and linking it here, rather than just giving me the zip, so that everyone could enjoy preventing their friends from bricking their phones!
Plus, if it's a Magisk mod, we can just use the built in applock to secure Magisk, and BAM! Phone secured!

I will also send u a link in PM just in case this thread gets lost by the time u get ur phone.

you could use pm disable/uninstall to remove applications on current user setup.

you need an app like "app inspector" or "package name viewer" something that can get you the full name of the folder of the apk.
once you do that
in windows adb with usb debugging on
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.whatever.whatever
and then to enable again
adb shell pm enable <package_to_enable>
deleted
I did that using adb, but instead of disable i uninstalled it.
I just froze it in TiBackup
Same here, Froze it with TB...
I tried to do it through termux with magisk module debloater(termux emulator) but couldn't find it looked through all sections but it's not in there any ideas?

K-Klock. I use xXx no limits magisk rom that has an option to install it. Works great for centering, adding date, changing font. Bunch of stuff you can do with it. You do need to open the app first and configure your settings, build the apk within K Manager then open substratum and install.
If you are not aware, I always get the best results by building and installing, reboot, then enable.

Looks right. I just had it installed with the xXx-nolimits profile.
Xposed and gravitybox is all you need and is the most reliable, fool proof method to get what you are requesting for clock, date, clock format, and clock locations. Plus I'm sure you will find other options useful as well. I use it for the clock, lock screen shortcuts, and to remove that god awe full blur that OP implemented on Android 10's lock screen music background art.

Thanks will have a look at Gravity box. Is it beta version that works?
What exactly does Ed posed do and do I flash them via Magisk.
Tried Kclock and loaded it up via substratum. Then tried simple thing like put clock in status bar in the middle and no joy. Also no option to have date on status bar. Unless I'm missing something?

EdXposed is the xposed framework for Android 10 (maybe earlier too) it is installable through magisk. Which is kinda like magisk, you can download and use different modules. Use the 4.5.5 version I linked.
GravityBox is a module for EdXposed. Install it through EdXposed Manager. Only working version for A10 is the one I link. Beta 10.0.5.
So you have to go into K-Manager first before substratum. Select all your desired options, then hit the bottom right floating button. Now you have to go to substratum and install it.

Looking for the best magisk modules+recommended rooted apps

Hello guys. I make my phone rooted yesterday and i really want to improve my phone, make it change(some fingerpring and etc) and really want better battery.
Can you please help me guys?
I just can tell what i used and satisfied:
Magisk and TWRP you use already.
Viper4Audio for better audio quality if you have good headset
I changed the Kernel to Kirisakura or Arter97 (still testing which is better)
For the look i use Renovate ICE v14 (on telegram channel)
And for bloatware i use xXx No Limit v12 (and in the prop file i manually choose what i need or not / Viper4Audio and Youtube Vanced included), but you can find 2 other scripts if you need just de-bloatware (dont remember the names but you can find here), and for anti-ad i use Energizer Pro (faster than ADFly)

First of all thanks for the comment.
Ive got viperFX, this is good version?
What is bloatware if i can ask?
With Renovate you can costumise what you want? Can you send me download link please?
About adblock, i searched for it in magisk but found something else, Energised protection. Its the same or should i download something else?
One more thing. I want app systemizer to delete administrator apps but i cant download it. I also cant download xposed and etc... Why?
ViperFX is good, the newest version is 2.7 but if you have 2.5 is the same good just 2.7 is better view (material theme)
Bloatware is what you want to remove. Its come with pre-installed app with your phone (ROM), for example facebook already installed by default.
xXx No limit ROM, have a custom file called build.prop. its a text file, if you want to install, you have to install via Magisk (can be remove anytime), and you can modify the build.prop before.
What you need, what you dont need. and put the xXx ROM file and the build.prop file in the xXx directory of your internal card. Dont worry, its not a "real" rom, it will leave your OxygenOS, just add/remove extras. Same way working the Renovate. Install via Magisk, can be removed anytime. Magisk is mostly for optical tuning, like change the font or color of statusbar etc. You can see both's features in the link.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...agisk-rom-xxx-nolimits-7-0-speed-ram-t3933927
https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...vate-ice-oxygenos-tweaks-stables-svn-t3934356
For NoLimit have newer version you can find it in OP8 topic, and RenovateIce have newer also, you can find in their Telegram channel.
this is the AD Blocker: https://energized.pro/ - you need a terminal emulator like Termux from google play.
the most popular script is Blu but the most blocked AD site is in Xtreme (slower of course but still fast). This can be download from Magisk repository (yes, energised protection)
About better battery, change the kernel to Kernel to Arter97 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7/oneplus-7-7-pro-7t-7t-pro-cross-device-kernel-development/arter97-kernel-oneplus-7-t3952578) from TWRP (it will recognise you have magisk, so nothing to do after install).
I want app systemizer to delete administrator apps but i cant download it. I also cant download xposed and etc... Why?
You can find MANY apps need root for delete system apps, but i recommend to use script, because you can recover if you make mistake.
For me the XPosed had problem (Actually the Riru -both - YAHFA and Sandhook) on my phone. So i cant tell.
I hope i could helped you.

Effect of Uninstalling Magisk

My phone is rooted with Magisk after installing TWRP recovery and it's working fine except banking apps which do not run due to rooted phone
I don't use functions of rooted phone so much, only in extracting whatsapp keys to backup my whatsapp chats etc
1) Can I uninstall/unroot Magisk anytime and reinstall/root again smoothly whenever the need arises?
2) Does installing/uninstalling root wipe data?
3) I saw following para in https://magiskmanager.com/uninstall-magisk
Your phone will be rebooted automatically. Don’t worry it is normal
That’s it! You have successfully uninstalled Magisk from your phone.
This process will completely delete all the files from your phone, and you don’t need to worry about anything.

What's meaning of "This process will completely delete all the files from your phone" here?
Thanks & regards,
Maria.
AFAIK any tampering of a phone's Stock ROM can get detectected by banking / payment apps - if they want to. IMO the very only method to remove all traces of modifcations applied to phone's Stock ROM is to re-flash phone's Stock what in turn causes the loss of all user data stored on phone.
1) Can I uninstall/unroot Magisk anytime and reinstall/root again smoothly whenever the need arises?
Yes.
2) Does installing/uninstalling root wipe data?
No. As long as you're not locking/unlocking your bootloader, you should be fine. Always a good idea to back up your data and system bacakup since you have TWRP anyway.
3) I saw following para in https://magiskmanager.com/uninstall-magisk
I believe this is reffering to all the MAgisk data only.

My dear, I install and uninstall Magisk all the time. Legitimately speaking, never once did it wipe my data ever. Unless you unlock or relock your bootloader, you will be completely fine.

My advise is, Incase you feel your modules will be erased, just take a screenshot of ur magisk Modules. Screenshot which you can use to later download the exact same modules. Or u can keep magisk module downloaded before hand. Now if magisk is not working, magisk Modules will not show for you.
If magisk is not working, you don't need to uninstall it. Just go to recovery and reflash the magisk.zip or magisk.apk. both will work, bcos that is how it is. Magisk.apk can be directly flashed from recovery menu. Once you reinstall magisk from recovery and it should start working. If after reboot, it is still not working, then just install magisk.apk while you are in android. (Not in recovery, but normal mode) and then open it and see what it says.
If I can help, I will surely. Let me know how it goes. Usually no data is erased. Don't worry. Magisk Modules or magisk, don't effect the system. U can also download magisk uninstaller.zip if you want to completely uninstall magisk.

The best, and only official place to download magisk from is GitHub. At least I think. And well there is one another website I download it from, it's not malware, but I will provide you with the GitHub link itself.
For Magisk v23.0 (One with MagiskHide)(This release also has online module repo, where you can download extra supported modules for your device from online repo of magisk)
https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases/download/v23.0/Magisk-v23.0.apk
For Magisk v25.2 (It does not have MagiskHide, but this is much more better, and there are more effective ways to hide root using Zygisk (new feature in Magisk v24 onwards I believe) (This one does not have Online Repo for Magisk modules, it was also removed in a previous version of Magisk, and you can use Fox's Magisk Modules manager if you want to access and download magisk Modules for any of the future releases for Magisk) If you want the link for Magisk v25.2 then here it is:
https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases/download/v25.2/Magisk-v25.2.apk
Just if u face any difficulty in flashing the apk file in recovery, just rename it to magisk v23/v25.2 (whichever u choose, I kinda recommend using the latest version) and rename it into . Zip. And if u plan on going with v25.2 and want to access the latest online repo and some of their own Magisk modules, then here is the link for the latest version of Fox's Magisk Modules manager:
Release 0.6.1 - Maintenance Update · Fox2Code/FoxMagiskModuleManager
Add Androidacy test-mode fix to non test-mode Update Brazilian translations by @DanGLES3
github.com
I am currently using the latest Magisk v25.2 on my phone, and currently running on the latest version of Fox's Magisk Modules manager as well. And also, using the method for hiding root that I mentioned before, I am completely successful in covering my root, and my safety net is passed. Completely Passed. Play store or any other app I don't want it detecting root, does not detect root. So we all good if you want to flash the latest update of Magisk.

Alright your preference is your own, but maybe hear me out, v23 will soon become outdated, as in some magisk Modules will stop working for it. And the magisk hide, according to the founder of Magisk @topjohnwu, he said that magisk hide is become really ineffective in blocking root, or stopping apps from detecting root. If you want a more powerful version of Magisk hide, update to v25.2 and I will show you how to activate it step by step. It's not built-in, rather it is a new module. So yeah.
Alright and about your question; if you don't find the app in your phone, in your apps drawer, just open file explorer, go to the location where u have kept the magisk.zip file or magisk.apk file. If u have the apk file then just install it once more, from android while in normal mode. If you have the zip file, then just rename to .APK and install it same like above. Then open magisk to continue (mostly after proper install, magisk will reboot your phone once more). Any steps you are stuck in, pls sent me a screenshot, so that I can help.

Hey, I see, okay use magisk uninstaller to completely remove v23 first, and then flash v25.2 afterwards.
From what I researched, it seems u can easily uninstall magisk by renaming magisk v25.2.apk (the file we downloaded) rename it into uninstall.zip
And then reboot to recovery, flash it from recovery to completely uninstall magisk v23. (Make a copy of the file before renaming into uninstall.zip.) that way we can flash v25.2.apk /v25.2.zip directly.
Hope everything works for you.

Just Flash that, in order to uninstall Magisk from your device. And then, install the latest Magisk v25.2
