Netflix HD - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

When will the HD be enabled for Oneplus 7 and 7 pro ? Because it is so crap right now

It’s already enabled.

Did you unlock the bootloader? If so, you lose Google Widevine L1 DRM (goes to L3), and Netflix is limited to 480p.

Really? and that could be reversed? Like blocking again the bootloader?

Do you not need to pay Netflix extra for the best resolution ?
I got the cheap plan.

I bought the phone few days ago from carrier, untouched, unrooted, and I have the HD Netflix subscription. My Friend bought the p30 pro and she has the same exact problem. Maybe it's rolling out slower depending the country ? (I'm from France)
[Edit] oh quality is just fine now ! Sorry for bothering you all !

Basic plan is only SD.
Standard plan is HD.
Premium has HD and UHD, but mobile only supports HD at a maximum.
This is according to the following website: https://www.digitaltrends.com/movies/netflix-cost-pricing-plan-breakdown/

There is a thread started, asking that question. But it doesn't look like anyone has answered that specifically.

Maybe just a hiccup with your WiFi or cell data connection? Netflix will lower the resolution accordingly to data speed.

I've had hdr Netflix on mine since launch. U.S. here and have premium subscription.

Relocking your bootloader will revert you back to DRM security level L1 from L3. Netflix also certifies mobile devices and the HD for mobile islimited to 720p and not 1080p. You will only get Full HD and UHD on TVs and PCs
On this size screen, 720p should be more then fine.

Yep it's still not 1080p. That article is misinformed. Netflix locks mobile to 720p. I read it somewhere that linked that info from Netflix, now, I can't remember where. The point is you likely won't tell the difference on this side screen anyway. It's why there is mobile, PC and TV versions of the Netflix app

"We spoke to a representative from Netflix about this and were told that resolution varies based on encoding, with some titles in certain encodings not available at higher resolutions (specifically, this pertains to VP9 encoded content). The performance of such videos is not representative of the rest of Netflix's catalog or capabilities, which offers up to 1080p on capable devices, including the OnePlus 7 Pro."

I must have bad eyes. I'm looking at my rooted 6T and this stream looks full HD to me.

[Q] No HD option for bought movies in Play Store?

Hi everyone!
I have a TF700T running stock with only root and a locked bootloader.
I was able to buy a few movies in HD quality in the play store but there is no HD button when trying to play. If I choose a free episode from some tv show in the play store however then there is an HD option!? I'm guessing these are DRM issues? Free items play in HD, bought ones don't.
Like I said, still LOCKED with only ROOT. Unrooting with OTA rootkeeper doesn't resolve the issue.
I have been searching the net alot lately but haven't found any answer yet which might explain this.
Any help please?? This is driving me crazy!
Thanks in advance!
There are films in the Play Store?
"Sorry! Movies on Google Play is not available in your country yet."
Right. F*ck you too, Google.
Anyway, pro-piracy arguments aside, from what I can tell buying it in HD automatically plays it in HD. It'll revert to SD on a non-HD device, but play in on a HD-device, it plays in HD. Free videos have a HD option because you don't pick SD or HD seperatelly.
http://support.google.com/googleplay/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2528768&&p=movies_hd&rd=1
Seems fairly obvious.
I know that the "missing" HD button is an issue on unlocked devices (due to DRM issues), but from what I've read, rooted devices should be able to play them in HD...
Very strange... Being that you are still locked and the fact that you said that you purchased the HD version, I would contact Google and see what they say - you should be able to view purchased HD programs in HD!
Please let us know what you find out...
Personally, I've given up on using the Play store for videos since Google won't let me view them in HD (since I'm unlocked). There are alternatives out there, so Google won't be getting my $$ because of this! I did spend a great deal of time trying to make it work, but in the end I figured screw them if they don't want my money!

I have bought movies, books, magazines, music and apps through the US and UK store. I use a VPN (freehostedvpn.com) because obviously there is no full play store in Belgium yet. It works great! Even managed to get a Nexus 4.

I guess I'll do that. I ordered a microsd card yesterday so I can get back to ICS. See if that changes anything. If it wasn't for these DRM issues I would have unlocked the damned thing ages ago! But even locked I can't watch my HD bought content in HD!! But with free HD content there is a HD button!??
Anybody else on Jelly Bean locked with root or no root who is able to play movies or tv shows in HD from Google Play?
Still waiting for the micro sd...
Does any know if the hd option is there when still locked and on ICS?
I have received my sd card and succesfully rollbacked to ICS.
I am now running .30 ICS. I am not rooted and the bootloader is still locked.
However playing HD movies I bought in the play movies store will still not give me the HD option in the lower left corner. Free hd tv show episodes will give me that option. I have no clue why this is happening?
I am also sure I am not the only one on these forums with a locked Infinity with HD movie content from the Play Store.
Can someone please check and tell me if I am the only one with this problem or not? I'm sure I'm not the only one with google play movies?
Thanks!

Yes, I only buy HD versions. And when I play a free tv show episode with HD option enabled it plays in HD quality but when playing bought HD movies there is no HD button and the quality is really horrible!! So i'm guessing that would be SD.
If there was no HD button but the movies would still play in HD than that would be ok. But I'm stuck with the terrible SD quality...

Actually, he says right in his post that he isn't even rooted - completely stock, unrooted and locked bootloader - makes no sense that HD videos wouldn't work - I would definitely be contacting Google - that's BS...

Who Gets 1080p YouTube?

I have a theory that only Android phones running 4.4.2 get 1080p YouTube playback. My OnePlus One is on 4.4.2 and it has it. My M8 had it on 4.4.2, but it went away with the 4.4.3 update (Sense version and GPE). What are you Nexus owners getting?
More particularly, are those of you on the L preview getting 1080p?
Thanks!

I did read that when it was first posted a month ago
However, after numerous trials and errors, I have narrowed it down to just Android 4.4.2.
My M8 is right now a developer edition, and for both versions of 4.4.2 I had 1080p YouTube. After updating to 4.4.3 yesterday, the functionality immediately disappeared.
Same thing happened when my M8 was RUUed on GPE. 4.4.2 I had 1080p, but it disappeared for 4.4.3 and 4.4.4.
On the OnePlus One, I had it on 4.4.2 CM11S, and (IIRC), it disappeared in the 4.4.4 nightly that I tried out.
That's why I'm asking Nexus 5 owners if they've noticed anything different, being as if Google would give any phone new features it would be the Nexus 5.

I use a Nexus 5 with Android 4.4.3 and I can choose every resolution between 144p and 1080p. I live in Germany, maybe that's an important information too, as the resolutions that are available seem to be server depended.
I get 1080p YouTube on 5.0.1
Could it be down to manufacturers (htc, Samsung etc) drivers not being implemented properly in the updates?
I'm making that assumption on it being hardware that is used to show the 1080p image, as in the GPU, Screen or the CPU dealing with it.
I get 1080p on this model the B1-730HD, the B1-730 has no 1080p, we do know the screens are different with people flashing the HD ROM on non-HD, everything seems ok until it has to display anything, simply corrupted.
If they've, say, implemented a generic screen driver you'd lose 1080p in my opinion.
As far as I know to date, updates to 4.4.x from 4.2.x are still capable of 1080p.

Everyone gets 1080p now if your device supports it. If not, then update your YouTube app or your device is simply an older one which can't handle it.

My previous post wasn't directed at you. it was a statement since people bumped this old thread saying their 1080p device gets 1080p, but Google has completed the rollout and everyone should have the option if applicable.
Attempting to play 1080p on a non-capable device (screen and/or hardware) has been mentioned in another thread before I think, and yeah it just causes issues.

Tell you what then, instead of only offering the obvious (and seeing as nobody else has put anything to the contrary of it being fixed!) try a link or anything else that doesn't just sound like a 12 year old because that 'statement' was as informative as a Party Political Broadcast - only idiots believe the hype they spew out....
A device had issues with an (here's the important bit ) Update, then something doesn't work, simply stating to update the device (which if what they do, as you say, would cause the problem!! Duh!) is about as much use as an ashtray on a motorcycle! :banghead:

MK808B Plus Review - Quadcore & H265 for under $50

Hi all,
I'm love Kodi and am interested in running it on Android devices due to their economical price and low power requirements. I purchased the MK808B Plus from Geekbuying and thought I'd share a review of the device with you. Let me know what you all think.
It's available at hometheatrelife.com/mk808b-plus-review/
It covers benchmarks, physical and user interface reviews and lots of photos. I’ve also posted an unboxing video on my YouTube channel.
I'm pretty impressed with the MK808B Plus with its excellent media support and capability for some light gaming. It's pretty cool to have a quadcore processor and H.265 support for under $50. have a Let me know if there is anything else you would like me to test/other benchmarks below and I'll update the review on my site.
Hi Michael, I´ve been watching your reviews on your blog. I´ve you tried the Fire TV Stick? how is it compared to the MK808B Plus? aside the quality of the hardware...
I've want to get a hold of one at some point so keep posted
They arrived and Christian Troy is doing the hell of a work on it?! He has released FIRST initial CM12 and a fully working CM11!! 30 $ little beast! But.. what a support!

Hi, I currently have a MK808B Plus in the mail from China. I do have a Fire TV Stick and while I cannot directly compare I have read a lot of MK808B reviews and videos and would gladly answer any questions you have about the Fire TV Stick.
I have unfortunately found that Netflix will play only at standard definition on this device.

What type of TV do you have? Is it with built in wi-f or wi-fi ready?
If it has DLNA in it you can simply use the Lumia Play to app from Microsoft.
Here is an example video:

Ok as far as i've been able to find on Google you will probably need these things:
1. USB Wireless LAN Adapter WIS09ABGN - Samsung recommends this for your type of TV (But you must double check it's compatibility again).
2. The settings this guy made into his TV service menu to enable the DLNA/USB option. - You can scroll down to the comments where one guy says that he managed to make this work on his Samsung UE32C6000
At the end if everything went well, you will be able to stream your photos, music and videos through the Microsoft Play to app.
Tell me what you've done.
Thanx cevi,
using this wifi adapter I'd be limited on using my Lumia with my TV, that isn't my purpose...
Indeed, I'd play my video on every TV, that's why I'm wondering if the EzCast (or other Miracast devices) works properly with my Lumia 1020.

Well considering that the ezcast app from the store works on almost every windows phone device i think that you shouldn't have any problem using it on the Lumia 1020.
Check this video from the guys explaining the process.

Seeing the comments below the app in the store i think that you might have problems with streaming with the 1020. Maybe the best would be to try to contact the developers of the app so they can confirm its compatibility with the 1020.

I don't think Lumia 1020 has wireless miracast enabled.

Question Anyone know how to get FullHD streaming on Rakuten Viki?

Downloaded it off apkmirror, everything looks grainy (probably 480p widescreen).
Afaik it's NOT a widevine DRM app though?
"Global" rom, 2021 version off aliexpress
PS Apk was something called a DPI version, was this the wrong one?
Or maybe it's badly compressed 720p... but it definitely ain't full HD
