Hello ..
I am getting amazing battery life since I got 6.0 .. Before with lollipop I used to get around 5 hours on screen time. Amazingly though I hit 6.30 hours on the first day after update, and this with wireless, mobile data and Bluetooth on. And no data saving and screen on 70% which is amazing.
Good job Motorola
Excellent I would say
Excellent batt life with this new update very impressive how a software help the hardware to accomplish that task.
I replaced my STYLE and got a new one two days back. The old one would be dead even though it has 80%+ battery.
The current one is pretty good compared with the old unit. I got 4+ hours of SOT and I was on 4G and WiFi all the time. Was using it heavily for browsing and chat.

This is not bad at all. What I am saying is after MM update battery life increased about 1.5 hours extra SOT
Perhaps the update fixed something else? Looking at the MM update from L, there appears to be nothing besides Doze, which only works when the device is still and not used. I notice perhaps 15% better battery life if using the device sporadically during the day (medium use for me). With heavier use, I notice zero difference so far.
I was hoping some kernel adjustments were made, but the device spikes with heat about the same. I first thought it was less, but notice the same apps get the device very warm to hot (the GPU is over it's head with 1440p). Standby time is a lot better though, but only a significant improvement if lighter use though the day (so Doze can be a factor).
Usage is relative only to the user though
How do you get such great battery performance? I barely manage to get 3 hours SOT.
When the device is idle there's no drain, i only lose 2-3% overnight. But when the device is active the battery drains very quickly.
Tried a lot of battery saving stuff, greenify, powernap, and so on, but no luck.
I'm on MM stock rooted. Having a lot of apps installed. May this be the culprit?

If 20% brightness or less, all you do is web surf and a little Youtube, with good LTE signal or wifi and VERY little use of apps that force the GPU to push 1440p, you can get five hours. Everything is relative to the user. That's it.
Counting stock apps, I have 395 apps and 5GB free (64GB model). based on MM battery report, I have no apps that are background battery demons.

Are you talking just 1440p video in general or are you talking 1440p games?
I'm lucky if I get 2 hours of SoT. I can't tell if Android Wear is eating my battery or if it's Sprint, despite having a decent signal. Bluetooth and Cell Standby are chewing up the majority of my battery power. I think the network management is trying to shuffle my phone between their three frequencies and while at work, I can only get on the 1900MHz PCS band due to having to use a repeater.

Some games and apps run at 1440p and choke the GPU. They stand out by running very warm to hot and drain the battery more quickly.

Yes the apps do drain battery.
I uninstalled one particular email app that alone would drain 6% daily!
Anyway this time I got is without gaming. Mostly chatting and browsing and a lot of movies (vlc). I think that day I watched not less than 3-4 hours of continuous movies on the phone.
The only thing I did differently than before is removing unnecessary app permissions and notifications. Other than that I have done nothing. Like I said I do not try to save battery because I always have power source near by, but this 6.30 hours SOT i s awesome I tell you.
Based on my little experience with Android some apps will screw up the phone for no reason. First time I got the phone I got around 3 hours SOT with so many unneeded apps, and I did not know which app is draining my battery so I formatted the phone, and started installing apps one by one and watching the battery. And I managed to hit 4-5 hours with lollipop. Now with the update I got this and I was shocked.
Fully back to stock, unrooted, bootlocker relocked.
Upgraded to MM via OTA.
Installed all my apps via Play Store. Until now, i always restored my apps via TiBu, including data/settings.
I'm curious if my battery life will improve.
Will post the outcome, if any
Cheers!
A lot of the time my phone is just sitting on my desk. It used to say I would get around 1-2 days battery life from it sitting there doing nothing. After MM it says there is 8 days left. I have had it unplugged all day and even with some moderate use I am only at 95%. The doze mode really makes a big impact in stand by times!

I think it did do something to the apps. The way you can block apps from getting access to location or other services is pretty impressive. I love that as I hated that apps would have access to everything on my phone and I cannot do anything about it. Now I can and this particular feature made me love Android even more after I switched two months back.
Is there something wrong with me. I only get 2 to 2 1/2 hours battery tops and actually I've tried amplify (paid version), and power nap and they don't seem to help much. I have only got 3 hours once since I got this phone. Is it just AT&T maybe?
I'd like to mention something else. Probably not related at all, but ..
My old MXS was a faulty unit (as I mentioned in my previous post). Once I got a new replacement, I have not yet charged the phone using Turbo Charger. I am charging it with Mi Pad charger (non-turbo). Yes, it took about 2+ hours to go from 30 to 100%.
Old MXS was always charged with turbo charger and I was getting pretty bad SOT and the baterry would drain as fast as it would charge. Does it have to do something with using a normal vs turbo charger?
I stop pretty much all background services and apps not in use. The only active applications are firefox, whatsapp and VLC.
My screen is set to 50% brightness with adaptive brightness ON. Moto X display and attentive display is ON.
Non-root (planning to root soon) and Moto ROM.

Probably yes. But i would charge on non turbo for two weeks so that I get definite data for comparison.

Less than 3 hours is not good bro, really anything below 4 hours is just bad. You better figure out what is draining your battery, or maybe it Is a bad unit?

what difference does it make if it is charged slowly or not??
It should not matter, if the battery is not keeping the power that means it is defective, nothing to do with slow or fast charging.
Hi Guys, I'm considering buying the htc u11 plus, I'm in doubt with the pixel 2 xl and lg v30 (but only by battery) that is to say that the best battery will be my next phone, I am very excited about the battery of the u11 plus for its quantity of milliamperes. But you who use it every day could you tell me how good it is? How many hours of average screen do they have?
One of the best battery life a phone could have. I can go easily 2 days without charging with minimal use.. 1 day + normal use.
It depends on your usage. I get around 3 days and 5-6 hours of SOT with *my* usage patterns. I am a light gamer, but heavy chat on whatsapp, do lot of emails, corporate messaging, videos and monitoring apps etc.
My overall take on the battery life on U11+ for my use case is "Awesome!". Your mileage may vary...
I also think battery life is great, my usage is similar to devsk and can easily get 3 days with WiFi on all day. I could even stretch to 4 on very light usage.
I was expecting more, but still the best battery I have had. 5-6 hours of SOT and I think I'm pretty good at saving battery (no gps, mostly wifi not 4g, low brightness etc...)
I suspect the google xl 2 is similar or slightly better at battery purely down to software optimization. Hopefully HTC can improve over time with software updates
Mine started out horrible and I was very angry about it. I was barely hitting 5 hours SOT over 24 hours with medium brightness. Factory reset, let the phone settle for a week and now I can do 7 hours SOT over 1 day + 100% auto brightness. Can't complain now.
I'm very happy. Over the past week my average is 7h SoT over 48h - this is 50% auto brightness on WiFi and 4g roughly 50/50. This is my normal usage, few calls, lots of WhatsApp, reading emails, viewing IP cams, watching videos etc. No active display, don't think it's useful on LCD.
With a day at home on WiFi I maxed around 8h SoT over a day watching YouTube/Plex which I was disappointed by (thought it could reach 9h), but don't think I could use a phone more than this.. It's not realistic usage.
With light usage I got 3 days standby and around 5h SoT. I'm sure with some optimisation the battery life could be extended further. Should also mention I have the full Google location shebang going.
I've been getting consistently 7h+ sot in a day and a half.
Medium usage, mainly YouTube, Twitch, browsing and texting. Some light gaming, light camera usage, on wifi 90% of the time. 50% auto brightness.
So yeah, in the battery department this is the best phone I've had.
7h 15 min SOT, 23h since last charge, 24%, lte and location services always on, auto brightness; ffox 1h40, camera 16m, yt36m and Messenger which drained battery of my previous phone af (about 15-20% in background) 2% on u11+
There is a battery life thread on one of the forums, might be worth checking that out
I've had 9hrs+ SOT, over two days
It's about as good a battery life as you can expect IMO
I'm really happy, and it was one of the main factors I considered when getting this phone
I must be an extra heavy user because I can't seem to get an entire day from my U11+.
I do have everything synced though plus wifi, bluetooth and nfc on all the time. I use it for internet, youtube, netflix , some gaming and messaging so I suppose it gets pretty well-hammered throughout the day Apart from that it's a fantastic phone.
Yeah, that's pretty heavy usage
On the best days, no NFC or Bluetooth for me, WiFi on
No gaming, butt loads of messaging and calls
Also, I have it on battery saver if I know I'm not going to use it for over an hour, and always battery saver overnight
I'll try switching off NFC because I hardly use it, see if that makes a difference.
Also, it seems obvious but I haven't tried using the battery saver overnight. Makes sense!
Thank you

Depends more so of what you're doing. How long have you had the phone for? I didn't get great battery life until things settled down during the first week. Leaving bluetooth and NFC on shouldn't be the main cause of battery draining but I would say make sure background bluetooth and wifi location scanning is off because that WILL drain a lot more. It is in the location settings menu
This is just my first week with it. I've changed the Bluetooth and WiFi location settings now so thanks for pointing me in the right direction
Changing those location settings has made a big difference - I've gone the whole day and I'm only at 50%. That's excellent. Many thanks for the heads up ?

Hi everyone, i'm having this problem, where i just can't seem to get over 5 hours on screen time. It doesnt matter if im playing full blast games or just checking social networks from time to time, i just can't get it over 5 hours. The battery menu in settings just says that 30-40% battery is used by "mobile network standby" GSam however says that screen is 37%, phone radio 23% and apps 39%. In the apps menu it says that the biggest usage is from Kernel (android os) and android system. The phone is about a month or two old. My friend has a Huawei mate 10 pro, which has just 70 mah more than the u11 plus, but it seems like he is getting so much better battery life. Should my battery really be like this?

I have the same issue, after a hard reset always "mobile network standby" drain a lot my battery, I can't find any solution... Let me know if you resolve!
I noticed battery drain two times after round about 6 weeks. My solution in this case is to wipe cache from recovery, after that the drain was gone everytime. Tried a few other things too, nothing helps as good as the wipe....

Try to download gservicefix app in the play store and follow the instructions.
Also Force stop HTC Function Test under Settings - Apps & Notification - App Info - Show System.
It should help for few days. If the battery drain happened again, do the same thing again. I think it's a firmware bug until HTC updates the software.

Alright, thanks. Did both of these, except the HTC function test, because i don't have it. Will report back in a day or two.
Nothing really changed except for battery drain over night. Had like 14% loss over night, now its down to 4%, still cant get over 5h SOT.

The gservicefix is meant to fix battery standby drain. For SOT, it really depends on your use case. Mate 10 pro SOT is definitely better because it uses OLED display which is more battery friendly and only 1080 resolution (compared to 2k display on U11+). Still, you should get more than 5hrs SOT for moderate use. Try greenify and see if it helps.

I've been using the phone for two weeks now and the battery drain has gotten pretty horrible the past week. I charge the phone up to 100% and leave it off the charger as I go to sleep from 1am - 9am.
I wake up and my phone has 70% battery left with wifi/data off. [Battery drain](https://i.imgur.com/VkAcAqd.jpg) [Google battery drain](https://i.imgur.com/qjxMkN2.jpg)
Does anyone know what I can do? Is there an app with which I can check on what's draining my battery?

You can check which apps is draining the battery.
Just go Setting, then search for "Device Care", then hit "Battery" -> Battery Usage
All S10 phones have a bug that is causing them to not deep sleep when screen is off, causing poor standby performance. This is caused everytime you receive a VoiP call, so after you receive one, just restart the phone. Being caused a proximity sensor bug.
Try off Biscuitby feature

Try to wipe disable Google app and check battery consumption. If problem persists, try to wipe cache from recovery and if necessary do a factory reset, 30% battery drain in a night without network connections is not normal. If all attempts fail better go to Samsung assistance to change the battery
7hrs: 10% when sleep, wifi on. Not good but I think it is not too abnormal. I think, samsung still have a lot of bloatware!
But on screen I thnik is OK: 5-6h mixing, 3000mA battery on a strong SOC, it's normal. My back up Huawei GR5 2017, 3400mA, it is the same time!
This solution was posted on the S10 forum and certainly helped me.
There's a bug that stops the phone from going into a deep sleep mode post making a call (audio/video) on apps like WhatsApp, Skype et al. The solution for the time being is to reboot the phone once before going to bed. I tried a lot of other things but had a ~2% hourly standby drain which reduced to <5% overnight after figuring out this solution. I have both WiFi and Bluetooth on at night.
You may try to play around with the battery saving tweaks in ONE UI but nothing worked as well as this has. Hopefully there'll be a more practical fix to this soon.
Cheers!
Being as this affects voip calls, does this mean wifi calling is affected too? I mean, that's technically voice over IP.

I tried to debug battery drain using Battery Historian. I noticed that the phone does go to Doze mode completely, but for some reason, CPU stays awake. I'm still new to the tool, will try to find out more about why CPU is kept awake all the time.
I get battery drain regardless I make any VoIP call.
Another issue I noticed is PUBG lags horribly on the phone. I tried different combinations of graphics settings, the game was still lagging.
Just tried pubg...hdr +ultra runs ok for me. No lags, maybe sometime stutters for a sec.

For the first launch, the game runs very smoothly, lag starts after that. The more I play, the more lag I get.
Putting the phone on battery saver mode barely drains any juice (Medium Power Saving mode), seems like it's just a software issue and not hardware specific issue.
By the time Samsung releases any fix, we might have to live with this one.

What update? Can you share the info that came with it? My SM-G970U1 is still on Feb. 1, 2019 patch. Although I don't have any problems with battery drain, pulled out two screenshots lately, both over about 12hrs period, one was with cellular radios on and the other just an airplane mode:
It's mostly Exynos people or the Sprint USA models \ service. No one else is having it really.
Got the March update. Exynos version. Battery drain seems a bit better at first glance. But it's not been long since the update. So not completely sure.
Got the phone today and the battery sucks lol and got an update today as well
My Snapdragon S10e never gets less than 4 hours of SoT under the heaviest use (I am constantly messing with settings, installing\closing\uninstalling apps, etc etc)
If I use it "regularly" just browsing Reddit and such, with a normal phone signal, I get 6 to 9 hours every time.
I don't use dark mode until Sunset.
I leave NFC/Bluetooth/Location on at all times.

My smartphone is new. I bought it sealed two weeks ago.
I have had a similar energy consumption with the two s7 I have owned. With a very light usage, with the phone in idle almost the entire time, no wifi and gps activated, I would say that I loose something like 20% a day. It is much higher than other phones I had like the s4 mini or more recently the Redmi Note 4, with something closer to 10% a day (the Redmi Note 4 has a 4000 mAh battery which is higher that the 3000 mAh battery of the s7, but still energy consumption seems to be lower). In general, idle energy consumption seems to be a bit high to me on the s7. But I heard that the pixel 3 for instance also has a standby time that is not impressive. Again, it depends on what is installed on your phone and how you use it.
Maybe some tools like betterbatterystats or something similar can help you to see what wakes up your device if you want to make sure it is not due to any app.
yep mine consumes the same , i think its some hardware issue , i flashed morokernel 7.4 and undervolted , used hidden settings magisk module to turn off wifi watchdog and background scanning , that saves almost nothing ,,
you can even turn off the doze feature and idle drain is the very same between doze and not doze...
the idle drain is just bad .. it will also be the first and last samsung phone ill ever have , back to sony after this one, my amazing z3c (rip) used 0 to 1% per night and gps was 5 times more exact than this samsung ****phone, had perfect pocket mode , what s7 is missing entirely
well at least it has a good screen on battery life , so its not totally unusable phone
buying samsung is like wanting to buy a german car but end up buying an english or french car instead lol ...
edit: just searched for a comparison officially:
16 hours Standby sony zx1 9 % samsung s7 23 %
but if you install swift installer , use dark themed apps , and firefox with darktheme addon for websites the amoled screen on time is impressive , almost the same as idle drain for normal browsing lol

yep mine consumes the same , i think its some hardware issue , i flashed morokernel 7.4 and undervolted , used hidden settings magisk module to turn off wifi watchdog and background scanning , that saves almost nothing ,,
you can even turn off the doze feature and idle drain is the very same between doze and not doze...
the idle drain is just bad .. it will also be the first and last samsung phone ill ever have , back to sony after this one, my amazing z3c (rip) used 0 to 1% per night and gps was 5 times more exact than this samsung ****phone, had perfect pocket mode , what s7 is missing entirely
well at least it has a good screen on battery life , so its not totally unusable phone
buying samsung is like wanting to buy a german car but end up buying an english or french car instead lol ...
edit: just searched for a comparison officially:
16 hours Standby sony zx1 9 % samsung s7 23 %
but if you install swift installer , use dark themed apps , and firefox with darktheme addon for websites the amoled screen on time is impressive , almost the same as idle drain for normal browsing lol

Well yes, some other phones have more impressive idle power consumptions. I also have naptime installed to trigger doze when the screen goes off, but does not change battery life so much. Even ROMs with a very limited number of apps installed lead to a high idle power consumption, so seems like an hardware related problem to me. But I still consider the s7 as a great phone and keep it as my daily driver. It is kind of waterproof, has an excellent camera even in 2019 standards (and there's just one in the back, not dozens), I like the fact that it is a 5 inch phone that can easily fit in my pocket and that I can use with one hand, the design is quite good and polished (subjective), no curved edge and notch that I don't really like (subjective), it has nfc, a jack port, a great amoled display, fingerprint in the front panel. And recent Lineage OS and Lightrom ROMs work quite well. This phone has still a great support after a few years, and I have difficulties to find all the features I like on this phone on any other phone. So charging my phone every 2 days is ok for me
Edit:
- bad signal reception can also increase battery drain
- just came across this link if that can help: https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/how-to/fixed-standby-battery-drain-t3758050

Hi. My SM-G930F consumes a lot in idle. I have tried ROM stock, AOSP ROMs etc ... and it consumes a lot. Today, for example, it has consumed me 6% in 7 hours in idle. Kernel Audiutor tells me that he has been those 7 hours in deep sleep, but it seems a lot ...
Is this normal? In other smartphones I consumed 1-2% ...

its wrong, but theres nothing we can change so stopping worrying is the right call ... 0,9% per hour is the best which is possible on this phone it seems ..
but of course we need to throw this phone in the trash after 2 years becasue the battery will have deteriorated and usage is closer to 2 - 3% per hour (which in effect means it wont wake you many mornings (unless you have 30%+ when you go to sleep) .. while other phones might hold out 4 or 5 years maybe even 6 until the idle drain reaches the treshhold of unsusability ...
thats samsung for you! typical asian scammer company

I upgraded to an S9 in Arpil from an S7. The S7 has no sim card and I get about 3 or 4 days yes the phone is idle most of the time but never got that battery life when it had a sim card.
I am not suggesting you remove your sim card but this does indicate where some of the idle battery consumption goes,
