Anyone using any third party apps yet to do more with the AMOLED around active display like on moto or Samsung

This. And double tap to wake / sleep . . Nova launcher takes administrator settings and won't let the phone wake without a pattern then smh

All the applications i have found seem to do this. You have to make the application a device administrator for it to work but because the application is controlling the lock, the fingerprint doesnt work and it forces you to enter the pattern. I am coming from a moto and really miss the breathing notifications.

I use this at night but I don't really want the screen on all day, if this had a "breathing" function it would be nice. Hoping google releases an update to change the ambient display.

That's what I'm asking. There are a bunch of apps meant for this. Trying to see what people have success with

Using Notific Pro without administrator permissions, only enabled notification access on the overview screen of the app. Works pretty well for me...

Always on display not working!

I've waisted too much time trying to figure out why the [email protected]*k my AOD display stopped working. It was working fine for a week but all the sudden it stopped. I've tried everything I can think of and now I'm hoping someone here knows a fix or has suggestions? I don't have any screen control apps installed, no Bixby remap, AOD is set to on etc. Ideas?

I actually pulled an update that I was putting off but I haven't tried wiping and stating fresh yet. I guess that's my last resort

Start fresh is always the best option for things like that. AOD isn't hardware related it's software. Something broke somewhere or somehow

I am in the same boat..!
AOD just stop working. (Stock Rom, no root etc)
I basically tried everything.
Clearing AOD, data, cache.
No luck.
I even resetted device settings.
No luck.
I suspect something/app "broke" AOD.
I can set AOD etc, but it just
not working.!
I also notice that device /display /screen saver
is not working.( if you set /enable it)
Factory reset is my very last option.
If i cannot pinpoint culprit app or maybe an update
that "broke" AOD,
i guess I'll be wasting my
time to Factory reset.. just for AOD to "break " again?
once i re install my +- 200 apps. etc.

See if the proximity sensor is incorrectly detecting something.
AOD will not turn on if the proximity sensor is engaged, and even if it turns on it will turn itself off if the proximity sensor is triggered for a few seconds.
Use any app on the Playstore.

This. I'm in the same boat bro, Screensaver isn't working either. I'm sorry your having this issue also but I'm glad I'm not alone lol. If you find something out please let me know!

However device proximity sensor is
working fine.!!
I have Gravity Screen app and stock Smart wake
working 100%... uses proximity sensor.
Also no apps of mine is disabled, so it couldn't be
a knock on effect. etc.
Luckily i use AOD occasionally, but since its not
working now, it's irritating me big time.!!

That is very odd.
I'll try to replicate and report back if anything comes up.

Mine has went out on me twice. I've had to do a hard reset twice. Really really irritating!

Has there been any luck with a solution? I'm also having same issue.

I went in my notification panels and Always on Display is somehow turned off. I re-enabled it and it was fine

I'm having the same issue on my S7 Edge. Tried pretty much everything, even installing several different firmwares (7.0 official non rooted) and no signal of AoD or Nightwatch. Altough, if I use a 3rd AoD app it works flawlessly.
All sensors are ok, phone is running smooth all the time....
I've spoke to Samsung technical support in Live Chat and they say that this is a software issue that is about to be solved by Samsung in the next SW update. But honestly, even trying different firmwares, factory resetting the phone, AoD working in 3rd party apps, and still no signal of default AoD makes me wonder if this might be an hardware issue... Just don't know what because as far as I know AoD is SW only (right?).
I have a couple of friends with updated S7 and S7 Edges and all of them have the AoD running smooth.
If anyone finds a solution for this please just share it

I have the solution
Download the app "NOUGAT QUICK SETTINGS " and grant the ADB permissions on usb debugg. Then you activate the ambient display tile and turn it on in the Quick settings bar. Do it and you aod will back.

Here is the solution
Easy and quick
1. Go to SETTING
2. And then go to "Lock Screen and Security"
3. Click "Always On Display"
4. Turn "Show always"
Done.

Same issue on mine since few days, it's note 8.
I even put the original Samsung theme back, still no luck

Isn't there another setting for unlocking it automatically if you turn on the screen within x seconds after locking? Post it on Razerzone.com in the insider community section, a csr rep will see it.

Its set by default to lock automatically after pressing the power button

Did you check your Smart Lock settings (in Security)? That's usually the culprit. Make sure On-body detection, Trusted places, Trusted devices are disabled, then try again and let us know

I haven't even touched the smart unlock but on body detection is on if you put your phone down on a table and double tap the screen it still does it

Sorry, so when all of them are off it still won't lock?
I usually find on-body detection very unreliable anyway. I personally wouldn't recommend keeping that on.

Have you timed it and see how long it takes to lock by itself? Is it still doing it?
I would probably get ahold of a csr too, it is a fairly significant bug(if that's what it is) though I can't say I've seen any other reports in all the reviews...

I usually find on -body detection very pain full anyway. But i'm also not sure also little confuse.

Anyone having this issue? I've yet to see it happen...

Is it possible that in Nova launcher you have double tap in gestures and inputs set to screen lock?

It's been happening to me occasionally also. If I go into settings and turn it off and back on it starts working again. But then I have to do it all over again within an hour.

Yep, that's similar to what I'm experiencing. Are you using the setting in gestures, or the setting in display > ambient display?

I'm on the TMobile 7 Pro, have an update to 9.5.5.

Neither Double Tap to Wake... Nor Single Tap to Show in Ambient Display.. Not any other Quick Gestures like Draw O for Camera and all.. Nothing is Working... Is there a fault with the device or Software Update??

Simple answer for now, try factory reset, no ideal but then we can try something else

Hope not having any issues with on screen /off screen gesture as I'm using quite offen every day and really one of my favorite feature.
On Vivo smartphone I'm having one year now it's working brilliantly so far, hope OP the same excellent results as Vivo.
It would be totally frustrating if had any kind issues with 7 Pro gestures.

That's not good for a brand new phone out of box...

I'm having the same problem. Clearing the cache in recovery does nothing. I think it may be related to ambient light. Screen off gestures seem to work much better in well lit areas.

I've not had any issues at all since Tuesday when I got the device. Try booting into the recovery and wiping the cache. Could save you some trouble?

A factory reset resolved it for me.

i am facing same problems as you have been nothing works double tap to wake and single tap to show as well as draw patterns for apps nothing works. i have tried wiping cache and factory reseted it too once. i think its a software issue i hope they fix it soon

People apparently can not read. The OP just said factory reset worked just fine and people still keep saying the same things. SMMFH So unless you tried factory reset... no point in continuing to frakin post

So I have had OP7P Since Wednesday and I started to notice these problems about 6 hours in. Problems occurred prior to accepting the Out of Box update, after the update, after a factory reset. Restarting/Shut Down does not resolve the problem.
Lose of functionality are;
Double Tap to Wake
Ambient Display/Single Tap to Wake/New Notification
Gestures
Coming from the OP6T the solution previously that worked was to;
Settings->Apps->See All Apps->Menu (Shows System Apps)->Ambient Display->Storage->Clear Cache->Restart Phone
This solved the problem for about several hours. Going back into display setting and toggling Double Tap to Wake a couple of times sometimes restored functionality.
I have noticed that if my phone is in my pocket for some time and when I pull it out it won't respond. It feels like it has to think about whether it is still in my pocket or not. The times that it stopped working I've had to set my phone on a table or flat surface for about a minute or 2 and then pick it up. Thats when things will function as intended.
I have so far factory reset twice already and while it does solve it then and there the issue will arise again.

As for me it was working without any problem since the day I bought the phone but 9.5.9 broke it. Now I cannot make it work. I've tried xXX rom as well as Smurf Kernel and both didn't help.
Reverting back to 9.5.8 solved the problem... waiting for 9.5.9 FIX.

Ambient Display with weather Android Beta 10

I noticed the other day I had a notification at the bottom of the screen right above the finger print sensor. It was a weather notification, typically I only see it in the morning and then it disappears. Anyone know how to keep it enabled or how it is enabled.

I don't know. I am on the beta version of android 10 and was hoping if someone on here knew about this. I was on DP5 before but I never saw this on the ambient screen so I am assuming it has to do with the Android 10 beta.
So if anyone knows please chime in.

It a new feature added in the dp5. Settings>Display>Ambient Display>Smart Display

I'm not saying your right or wrong, but I did look there before posting and it said nothing about weather. It only states >media and calendar<

It's seems to be hit and miss...it has a mind of its own and works whenever it feels like...

mine working usually early morning. without any settings

I just saw mine earlier now it's gone.

I just saw this as well. Early this morning before I went to work. Immediately jumped online to see how it happened. Now it's gone. Seems so dumb that I couldn't just have this all the time.
Edit: By the way, I'm on the regular OnePlus 7, not the Pro. Dont think it matters, but wanted to point it out.

I'm not on beta and also OP 7. So it def works, just dont know how. It happened for me this morning, then went away.

I'm on stable 10 on oneplus 6 and noticed the same this morning. Googled and found this thread. Bizarre that it only shows in the morning and has no setting.
