Notifications still vibrating and showing sensitive content after being disabled - Google Pixel 3 Questions & Answers

I recently went from OG Pixel on Nougat rooted with Magisk v16.1 to Pixel 3 on Pie rooted with Magisk v19.2
I am having trouble making my phone not vibrate upon receiving notifications from Messages, WhatsApp, KakaoTalk, and Gmail. Within the application, I have gone into settings and turned off vibrate. KakaoTalk and Gmail would not vibrate if my phone is set to ring, while Messages and WhatsApp would vibrate intermittently when set to ring.
My notifications is set to show sensitive content through the system settings. However, Messages still shows sensitive content, even though I have set the notifications to hide sensitive content under the "Other notification" tab.

I'm having a similar issue on stock 3 (nova launcher). Set Messages and Whatsapp to silent and to only vibrate, yet the phone changes the settings back to Make sound & pop on screen by itself. It's been super annoying and going on for a few days already. It does it both for individual and group messages, which makes the phone make sounds constantly ...
I haven't tried uninstall reinstalls yet, here looking for info ... how's this even a problem I don't understand. Notification settings just don't stick, changes back to default I guess ...

Not exactly the same issue, but for the past week or so I've noticed mine vibrating at night when I have it in DND mode. I'm fairly sure it didn't do that before.

Is it charging? If so, it could be that full charge vibration is on.

It is charging, but this is vibrating with notifications.

I see.

Were you able to figure out a fix to this by any chance? My Pixel 2 XL on Android 10 and Magisk 20.3 keeps resetting the sensitive notifications setting to on.

I don't get any app notifications on the lock screen of my 6X.

Just got it the other day, installed all the latest updates. Everything is working fine but do not see any notifications at all on the lock screen, the notification LED doesn't blink either. I have 'Do Not Disturb' enabled, not sure if it is the problem. The notifications in the settings are enabled. What am I doing wrong?
Do not disturb mode prevent notifications regarding calls and messages to prompt up except from contacts that you white listed. It'll silence any kinds of notifications too, so if you don't see notifications on lock screen (and relative led light) it's normal.
Please try disabling do not disturb mode and check if the issue persists.

Is the behavior of DnD on Honor devices different from DnD on Nexus devices? Because I've used DnD on both Samsung and Nexus devices, stock & custom and it would show ALL the notifications but without any kind of sound or vibrations. Only display badges/icons on the lock screen and pulsing LED. If DnD is disabled then yes the message tones ring and the phone vibrates. How can I make the same happen here?
Solved it. Seems like it was an issue with the theme, changed to another one from the Themes app and now it works as expected, meaning only notifications on the lock screen without sound or vibrations.
I'd never thought about that as cause of the issue. Good

S9/WhatsApp notifications

Took delivery of my S9 yesterday, my 1st foray into the world of android. Is there anyway to disable pop-up previews and just have a badge number to notify you when you have a WhatsApp message?. I have some fairly active WhatsApp groups and if I'm browsing the web, watching youtube, etc, basically doing anything on the phone at all its constantly previewing WhatsApp messages, toggling pop-ups off doesn't work, 2 minutes later they default back to on. If it can't be done its an absolute disaster, I can't believe anyone puts up with this - makes the phone almost un-usable. HELP!
Thanks in advance, Justin

I am having exactly the same problem with my S9+. and it is infuriating me! I have opened support cases with Whatsapp and Samsung regarding this because it is not normal functionality. On previous Android phones (LG G5, LG G6, Nexus 6p) i have been able to hide pop ups and keep the notifications as per normal, with the S9 its either everything on or turn off completely.
I have found a temporary workaround but it means all your notifications will be silent. You may be able to play around with the settings to get something that works for you!
Here is what i have done:
Go into Whatsapp > Settings > Notifications
Conversation Tones - Box unchecked
Notification Tone - Silent
Vibrate - Off
Popup Notification - No Popup
Now go to the home screen and go
Settings > Notifications > WhatsApp > Message Notifications
Importance - High
Sound - Silent
Vibrate - Off
App Icon Badges - On
On lock Screen - Hide Content
Finally make sure you have Edge Lighting Disabled
Settings > Display > Edge Screen > Edge Lighting Off
I hope that a fix for this is rolled out soon because its ruining my experience of my first Samsung.

Thanks so much for the reply, I've resorted to simply blocking the notifications entirely as whatever I change seems to magically revert back to what I can only assume is the default setting. Makes me almost certain its system/app bug opposed to operator error.
How something as rudemental as this makes it through BETA is almost beyond comprehension, such a shame. I can't believe that none of the top review and tech guys on YouTube haven't noticed this either.
As I mentioned in the OP this is my first android experience, how quick are things like this usually cleaned up? praying its resolved quickly!
I have the same issue it's becoming too annoying
Me too having the same issue.. with S9 Plus
Is there anyway we can hide the icon of whats app but phone should vibrate?
S20 WhatsApp notifications
And so here we are, 2 years on from the original WhatsApp notification issue on the s9, I'm sat here about the throw my brand new S20 against the wall for similar reasons.
My issue is, I can't seem to switch off the vibrate alert, whatever combination of settings I use I can't mute the vibrate without turning the whole phone to silent. I managed to sort it on the s9 with a random combination of settings that included having the alert set to high priority (for some reason), that option doesn't seem available these days. What an absolute farce. If anyone has managed to figure a work around, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Can't turn off Whatsapp vibrate!!

Hi all,
I had an S8+ and Whatsapp was set to show the badge if there was a message or group message only (no vibrate or sound) and worked flawlessly. I got an S10 about a month ago, and I have set it to silent + no vibrate (both in Whatsapp notifications and on system settings) but it keeps vibrating when I get a message. The system settings keep reverting back to 'sound and vibrate' every couple days so I keep changing it to 'silent + no vibrate'. But even when it's set to this, it still vibrates!!
It really annoys me, as I only want my phone to vibrate for calls, messages and emails, not Whatsapp.
Any ideas how to fix this? I've uninstalled and reinstalled Whatsapp and it didn't fix it. I've done all software updates as well.
Go to Settings - Apps Notifications - Whatsapp, Block Notifications.

HI James, I still want an icon at the top of my screen when I have a message - I just don't want the sound or vibration.
Hi, any ideas?
There are three different settings for vibration in whatsapp: Messages, Groups and Calls. Have you tried disabling all of them?
Hi! Have you found a solution? I have the same problem on Note 9 and this drives me crazy.
Same for s20 fe that's a shame. It drives me crazy.

Question Watch not getting messaging notifications

So my watch is paired with a Xiaomi Poco F2 Pro, and whenever I get a notification like an email it appears on the watch instantly and works perfectly, but stuff like WhatsApp, Signal or SMS just never appears, like it never even detected it.
I enabled all apps in Galaxy Wear app on my phone and triple checked if those apps are enabled and made sure none of the other options would affect the ability to receive notifications, I tried using the watch with MUIU Optimization on the phone turned on and off and it doesn't make a difference. I have the latest software update for the watch.
Does anyone have any guesses as to why this is happening and maybe how to fix it? Thanks.
Check your settings under notifications in the wearable app to make sure they're enabled. Also make sure your messaging apps are set to alert on your phone. I get that you probably already did this but other than that, there's not too many places to check.
I did everything, the apps are enabled and they show up on phone as expected, the problem is that on the Wear app the notifications from messaging don't even show up on "recent notifications" which I don't see why that would happen. Thank you for the suggestion.

I've had similar issues I've dealt with this in the past. If all notifications work except for social notifications it's always a setting issue. Good luck.
You have "Show Notifications Even When Phone In Use" and " show with details" on?
Also you don't have an app that is intercepting your social notifications?
Also your social notifications are set to "Alert" on your phone? Not silent?

I have "Show notifications even when phone in use" and "Show with details" on. I shouldn't have anything intercepting my social notifications, I also turned on "Show notifications and content" before I had it set to "Show only notification without content". I set social apps to alert on my phone, they still do not show up as recent notification in the Wear app or appear on the watch.
And I'm almost positive it's something on my phone because when I try with my roommates to connect to the watch the notifications actually work and he has a Xiaomi Mi Note 10, I checked his settings with mine and they're identical so I'm not sure what's the issue, there may be something with my MUIU (MUIU Version 12.5.4.0 Global, Android 11)?

Which apps specifically are giving you issues? ALL notifications with a reply action? If so, I would verify that your Conversation notifications are configured correctly
Okay I semi fixed it somehow, here how it got semi fixed, not sure if all steps are needed but that's what I did:
I turned on MUIU optimization, then turned it off which reset all pernissions, went to the Wearable app and the Galaxy Watch 4 plugin and gave them all permission, went to the notification access settings, disabled everything besides the Galaxy Watch4 Plugin then disabled and enable the plugin and notification appeared on my watch.
The problem is that they work immediately after enabling notification access but 30 seconds after and I don't get them anymore and I'm back to the previous problem. Now this is a problem with MUIU which I don't know how to fix, I guess it doesn't want to remember that I gave the app notification access. If someone knows how fix this last step I would be really grateful.

Yes all apps with a reply action, as written in the reply above I did find a way to semi fix it, I was even able to reply to those notification, but the MUIU notification access issue still persists. Searching on the internet didn't give me any meaningful results.
I factory reset my phone, set all the settings the same way and it works..
Disappointment.

You can be too disappointed if it now works, right?

OOS 12 upgrade- all app notifications turned off by default?

So I upgraded to OOS12, i did a factory wipe as well to start fresh. Noticed odd stuff, like I wasn't getting text message notifications, they were coming in but notifications were set only to show up in the status bar not notify me. Then weird stuff like my alarm didn't wake me up this morning- the clock app was set not to notify me at all!
I found the manage notifications, almost all apps were set to off. A few odd ones were on, Facebook was on, "My Files" was on...is there some reason why this is? I know there's a big push now to not have so many notifications on our phones...but it's very frustrating as I actually use my phone for work and productivity, and most of my notifications are important. I'd rather have them all on and turn off the ones that are annoying, but I don't see a setting?
