Failed rooting stuck at Samsung logo have I bricked my device? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hey there,
So I am evaluating some devices and app for work. I am in the UK. The devices being looked at are "sm-g888f" they are a modified version of the S7 Active for public services.
I tried to root the device by following these instructions - https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/development/recovery-official-twrp-herolte-t3333770
I got to step 8 where the instructions fail. The guide says; "If you don't see then TWRP boot splash try again from step 6" No matter how many times I repeat those steps I do not get into a TWRP boot splash. Booting up the phone just gets me the Samsung logo. I cant even turn off the device without removing the battery.
When looking back over the instructions more clearly I notice download link in the guide https://twrp.me/samsung/samsunggalaxys7.html seems to be only for models SM-G930F, SM-G930FD, SM-G930X, SM-G930W8, SM-G930K and SM-G930L, SM-G930S. So I guess what I have done is flash an incompatible version of TWRP which is causing the issue. However I cant find a version of TWRP that seems to be compatible for my model. I then thought I could at least get the phone working again by flashing the stock ROM but there is nothing for my model on https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
I have two questions:
Is my device rootable at all (I am suspecting not now)?
Can I fix the device somehow I am guessing to do some someone would have to know where I can get a copy of firmware that would work for my device?

If your device is in fact G888F which is a really obscure device, and based on S7 active then the cpu is Qualcomm which means you will need to follow the guide to root a Qualcomm device. These chips are particularly difficult to root. My best guess is any firmware for the S7 Active would work on this device.

Can you still get into download mode? If so you can flash stock firmware via Odin which will remove TWRP and probably let you boot normally again.

It is a G888F yes. Ok that sounds promising however the problem I am having now is actually finding the correct guides/firmware. I feel like am being a bit stupid because that should be the easy bit but I cant find these at least were I am looking. For example I have searched sammobileDOTcom/firmwares/ for SM-G891A and S7 active but get no results (I do get results for an S8 active though), searching through the xda forums I found this thread "https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-active/how-to/g891a-android-n-offical-odin-package-t3581042" but the files shared there do not seem to work. Are finding the correct rooting guide and firmware easy for you? Can you share them or advise me on a better way or place to search? Sorry about asking such a basic question.

And just to add the firmware files for an s7 active model that I can find (like this one here https://mega.nz/#!4FBSEYRA!3Sepq2lGz0Y-hINa3eT0i_Ota918zLqSntMrbu8CQAw) all fail when flashing giving the error

I am not sure why it is attempting to re-partition in options I have only checked "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time"

Actives were only built for the AT&T network it was a device exclusive to them only. The only firmware that may work on it is G891A. It's on Sammobile. Then you would need to flash with a copy of Odin 13 (which is posted on this forum) which ignores device mismatch when you flash.

[Completed] Cant get S3 to get past Samsung Galaxy S3 screen after update.

Hello! My S3 is having trouble after a recent update. I cant find any information on this, but I cant find what the most recent firmware is, nor what the firmware I should try to flash to it is. I tried flashing sammobile's firmware to it (I747) but I get the error <ID:0/004> FAIL! (Auth). If there is anything you need, let me know! I gotta get it back up and running soon! Ahhh!

I see you have made several threads on the same thing in the correct area. Please see the one that is still open.
This is all this section is for, to guide you to the correct section.
As an FYI it seems you need to flash the same stock firmware as the bootloader you have. AT&T has locked bootloaders.

NAND write error - same ol' story

Hi all,
I was asked to look at a Galaxy Note 10.1 GT-N8000 by a colleague. It had been upgraded to 4.4.2, all was fine for a few days until it crashed. It's now in a bootloop spinning on the Samsung screen.
I can access Download mode, but no recovery.
Download screen says:
ODIN MODE
Product Name: GT-N8000
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Official
RP SWREV: A2
I've tried multiple versions of Odin, multiple official firmwares and multiple recoverys (custom/stock). Generally I get a NAND write Start.. FAILED message for most things. One bootloader file gave me "invalid magic string", and by manually packing files to .tar.md5 format, I can get a blue download bar appear on the tablet but nothing ever happens.
Heimdall is able to read the pit file from the device, but not flash anything (unable to confirm end of file transfer)
This seems to either be failed eMMC, or the bootloader is locked and I just haven't hit the correct software yet. I've been on this for days and don't seem to be getting anywhere.. Where do I go from here? And am I correct in thinking that I cannot access ADB from download mode; the device would need to boot to enable USB debugging?
Thanks in advance.
See PIT files flashing .

Hi JJEgan,
Forgot to include that in my original post.
I've tried a few PIT files with no success. It fails at re-partitioning with Odin, and fails to transfer the pit with Heimdall.
Cheers

I've been facing the same thing these days. I was able to install a STOCK ROM here that worked. Well, it's a 4.0.4 android version and it's not recognizing my SIM card, hahaha but it worked until I figure out how to get back to my Gnabo rom OR any other one that can work properly and be rooted after. I can't tell that the same rom i used will work for you cause of the region, but If you would like to try, I can post here and you can flash it and see what happens. Although there is PIT files for 4.0.4 that might me suitable for the rom I've used. =D

What were your symptoms? worth a shot. Thanks.
I have a problem on /efs stuff, well so far I wasn't able to solve it, but as I said, the only rom that was able to be installed was the 4.0.4.
That is the rom i've used.

HELP! (Note 5 stuck on boot logo without option to go into factory reset)

So as a curious kid I wanted to root my Note 5. I had done so with my old S5, and I saw there was a root out for it. Little did I know that when I tried flashing the root in Odin, it would fail and give me a message that "Kernel is not Sendroid Enforcing".
I said whoops, and looked up on the internet how to fix this issue. Turns out, that I cannot go into a factory restore, and when I try to flash the original firmware from SamMobile, it won't work. I can only go to the download menu. When I try to flash the original firmware it says this:
<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..
<OSM> Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..
<OSM> Please wait..
<OSM> Checking MD5 finished Sucessfully..

Yes it was specific for t-mobile. Also, this is the video I was using to try and root my phone before this happened:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epLA2EjGXTg
I do realize I most likely tried to flash the files for an older version of Android Marshmallow, but when I try to follow the updated video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2w0Hvgmk7I
And do the power button to home to volume up, it just hangs at the Note 5 logo, and doesn't do anything. I can't go into recovery, and I can only go into download.

if you dont see your phone connected you probbaly need samsung usb drivers, and by build i mean your correct phone. Each carrier has a different version of firmware so you need to use the correct 1

Where is the latest stock firmware for the Galaxy J7 Perx (SM-J727P)?

Before I begin, I'll just say that this is my first time posting anything on the XDA forums, so if I'm doing something wrong please let me know.
I got a Samsung Galaxy J7 Perx about a month back, and I've been loving it. I've rooted it since, and it was working great until I installed an OTA update not thinking about it.
The phone screwed up and won't work, it says an error has occurred while updating the device software, and that I need to use the Emergency recovery function on Smart Switch. The problem with that is because I rooted my phone Smart Switch won't recognize it.
The next thing I tried was flashing stock firmware with Odin3, booting the phone into download mode (which I can still do) and flashing the latest firmware on Sam mobile. But it failed saying
<ID:0/004> FAIL! (Auth)
<ID:0/004>
<ID:0/004> Complete(Write) operation failed.
and the screen saying sw rev check FAIL : system fused 2 > binary 1 in red text.
I've searched around quite a lot, and the general consensus was to get the latest firmware because the boot loader was blocking it or something. I know that the firmware I tried to get it to ended in ADJ3 (I think) and I was wondering if anyone had that firmware. I'm using the Virgin Mobile variant if that makes a difference.
I really need my phone for work, so if anyone has the firmware (or better yet, a solution to the problem) anything will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Im having the exact same problem except im on boost mobile can anyone help?

SM-G930A went into boot recovery loop. Attempts to reload stock firmware fail.

One week ago (April 8, 2020) I noticed that my Galaxy S7 AT&T phone had suddenly gone to the AT&T Blue Ball logo screen. I assumed that it had just rebooted itself. Some time later I noticed that it had the solid blue light and a black screen. Just pressing the power button did nothing. Not absolutely sure what I did from that point, but eventually the phone went into a "recovery boot loop".
After much searching, decided to go down the road of reinstalling stock firmware using Odin. So far, all attempts end in failure. I have tried different versions of Odin and various versions of firmware. I only ever updated the firmware when automatically prompted by the phone. Not absolutely sure when the last update took place, and I am not sure of what version was running on the phone when it failed. I have also found it frustrating to try to understand the versioning of the stock firmware, and what versio I should be attempting to install.
I'll start with the phone error from one of my last attempts.

I have already replaced the phone, so at this point I would still like to attempt to boot the phone without losing everything. So to start with, can anybody point me in a direction that will get me there.
If my only option to get this phone to boot is to "wipe it out", then information on doing that would be appreciated.
I am new to this forum, but I was dealing with the exact same issue yesterday. I was able to fix it using this website:
(since I am a new member I cannot post links, so I replaced dots with !)
www!sammobile!com/samsung/galaxy-s7-edge/firmware/SM-G935W8/BMC/
I paid them $7, otherwise, the download would not work. (Maybe you have a different sub-model. This is the model of my phone)
I used the Odin link this website provides, and now my phone boots

Hi there
When you get a failure of this type it could really be many different things, ( i think the auto update has gone wrong) the only way out of it is to reset the device as you have attempted via Odin. This will obviously wipe the device, which is why you should always back up data on whatever device you use on a regular basis.
Anyway AT&T changed the firmware code for their devices just to confuse people even more, it's now G930U not G930A, so here's the firmware you need to flash with Odin HERE
I know it's a slow download but if you learn to use "SamFirm Tool" you can downlaod any Samsung firmware much faster.
Also, yes the error is as you figured out, newer bootloader on device than you are trying to flash. Any queries let me know.

Sammobile is useful but very slow and i would never pay for speed when a free tool is available on this forum which gets the firmware direct from samsung servers at speed
Here, i'll even share it with you for FREE.
Send me an easter egg!

Thanks for the link!
I could not download any image using this link. Is there any tutorial on how to use this? I agree that paying $7 is not ideal, but at least it worked
