A good gallery alternative? - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

I'm looking for a gallery to use as the stock one is terrible in my opinion. And it got even worse after the last update - no control over the albums. No options at all and ugly, scattered interface.
I tried google photos but it's not better... Tried a couple more from PlayStore which were also bad... I'm coming from LG and their gallery is amazing, but I couldn't run the .apk on OP6.
So, I'm curious to know if someone else here thinks the same and have found a better gallery app to use?

Nothing beats Google Photos app.

Glad it's working well for you, but as I said, it is not what I look for. I need more customizability

I have been using App Simple Gallery for the last few months. It serves my purpose, may be worth looking into that. It has a free version, try that first.

Dude All you need is Google photos!!! It makes your life so much easy

Okay, worth giving it a try, thanks

I have been using Quick Pic for years and Google Photo to backup to cloud. Quick Pic is simple a fun to use.

QuickPic was sold and now dirty from useless options. I prefer Simple Gallery - IMO best old QuickPic clone.

(REQ) Gallery alternative

Is there an alternative to 3d gallery for aosp? I have lots of pictures and 3d gallery takes way to long to load. I looked on the market and couldn't find one. Thanks in advance.

Search for gallery 2d, its really the only alternative.
Regards,
Tee Jay
Wow. OK well thank you. I can't believe we only have 2 options to view pictures. I would think there would be tons of them! But I guess the coding is still a little new so I'm hoping some day that will improve

OK I found one that works well with aosp. But I can't upload it because I'm mobile. If anyone is interested hit me up and I'll get it to you.

Here you go, straight from jaybobs vanilla build.
2D gallery and camera hacked to open 2d gallery instead of 3d.
If you want to use this you'll have to do:
Code:
adb remount
adb shell
adb pull /system/app/camera.apk*
adb pull /system/app/gallery3d.apk*
then
adb push camera.apk /system/app/camera.apk*
adb push gallery.apk /system/app/gallery.apk*
then
adb reboot recovery
The * = corresponding file names, I may be slightly incorrect. Im downloading the files now and will upload shortly.
Also to mention, you could simply delete the stock camera and gallery with a file explorer that has root (ala root explorer) but you NEED to push the new files over. Wouldnt hurt to do a fix apk uid mismatches afterwards either, which is why I added the code to reboot to recovery.
Edit: If adb is foreign to you just pm me
Edit Edit: Not that it matters now, but I used the pull command in the code above instead of remove.

to be honest i dont think its because the coding is still new, i think its because the gallery 3d looks like the first thing google didnt simply throw together to make an interface. Since they put time into it, it looks nice and is very usable contrast this with the music player for example and it seems obvious why everyone and their uncle has an alternate one, it simply looks cheap while functional it isnt very classy looking
thats just my .02 cents on it anyway

Agreed.
The 2d gallery is a little bland as well (whats up with the goldish color???) but I actually like the layout of it better myself.

oh i agree, i like the 2d gallery better myself infact i will prolly edit and reflash aospMod with those included for myself very soon potentially with my theme built into it.
in this respect this is where i think senseUI is superior their camera and gallery apps are awesome, i just wish in order to use them i didnt have to get the rest of their bloatware that i never use to go with it

Camera and Gallery were nice, and the fb pictures were so easy... when you didnt end up with triples and everybody from your friends list on your phone...
I like Sense, but I like Vanilla more.
I will say I'd rather have Sense than TouchWiz or Blur.

i really just want motorola to stop with blur, they finally have their phones to a point where they dont break or lock up or power cycle constantly (heres looking at you every nextel they have ever made), and then they ruin it with that stupid software they use

You can try JustPictures! from the market - free. It's not great, but alright.
I use "Large Image Viewer (AppBrain Link)" sometimes as an alternative.
Otherwise I just stick with 3D Gallery seeing as it doesn't give me too many problems.
Even though I have easily over 30 directories (including sub directories that load on the main screen) each with 10+ images, some with over 100. All different sizes ranging from theme/icons for ninja/metamorph to full blown wallpapers @ 1920x1200pix
I hated this problem. In fact, because of it, i just spent $13 on a class 10 micro sd card at newegg.com and voila! problem solved (yes the hero is capable of writing/reading at class 10 speeds)

Yup! When i first got my class 10 it took a few minutes to cache everything but now all my pics load in under 15 secs (and i have over 700 pics) before this, i had a sorry class 2 card that took AGES to load, even when chached. Thank god those days are over

That's the exact same thing I ripped out of Jaybob's build and attached above.
I just also attached the camera that links to 2d gallery instead of 3d for those that want to use it permanently.

I find the built in gallery very slow and obnoxious. What can I replace it with?

What are my options?
picture folder, it's lightweight, looks pretty good, and is free on market =)
edit: or atleast it used to be, can't seem to find it now :S
Seems like it's called QuickPic now. (can't post link cos new user)
Im assuming you have Gallery3D if you have a recent android verion, I would just replace it with the old gallery 2D app. I did on my HTC magic and it runs very well on a slow processer and it works well. or you can download a third party app, but i personally never have so ya.

Nice recommendation. Been looking for a good gallery replacement. Seems to work well. Is there a way to link to it from the last-shot-taken picture preview in the camera?

I've installed it, but can't find a way to exclude all of my album art.
There's also Picturen Lite, which is my favorite gallery app so far.

[APP] Extensive Notes

So I've actually had this in the market for a few months now but never actually posted here. This was one of the first apps I created and it just sort of grew and got an assortment of features. So if anyone wants to give it a go here is the market link:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.flufflydelusions.app.extensive_notes&feature=search_result
If anyone finds this app too complex, do try my other app I've developed to address this issue. It has nearly all the same features though very easy to use. Here is the xda link:
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/classic-notes-lite-for-android/
I like this; "So many features, it's bordering on insanity."
This was the first app to make the App of the Week feature on my site. It's still one of my favorite apps I've ever used. Definitely the best notepad I've ever seen!

Awesome! I never knew about that. You should check out my other note app I am working on. Many people thought this app was too complex or the UI to difficult so I am making an app that is feature rich yet simple to use. Here is the link to the thread:

LOL, well hope you like it
Was the first app I bought for my new Galaxy SII. Crazy amount of features.
+1 for sync! PLEEEEEEASE!!!!
Edit: Nevermind.
Love this POWERFUL app. But love to have the following changes in the upcoming version.
1. Memorize the settings selection in Extra. E.g. "from" and "to" language for Google Translate, Currency converter.
2. Sorted list for Currency. (e.g. ANG > BHD > VEF ...etc). It's quite hard to find the currency I am looking for the current implementation.
Just downloaded it, very nice app, seems to have LOADS of functionality.
Thank you very much
Glad you guys like it. Yes still lots of work to do with it
Just downloaded this. looks awesome, will be testing it today

[Q] App Suggestions

Hey guys!
I've finally taken the plunge and done the whole ordeal to my HTC One S, installed a new rom and all. Not that i haven't done it before though.
I really enjoy that i have the freedom to choose my own apps now, that i haven't really got any bloat anymore. But on the other hand it's proven to
be a challenge to find fitting apps to fill in the gaps.
Can anyone recommend a good facebook client? i'm currently using flipster, and honestly it's decent. but i'd like something more in line with the material guidelines. there's no way i'm returning to the official facebook client.
and how about a camera app? i've searched everywhere, and it seems borderline impossible to find a camera that's lightweight, is capable of taking photos with a 16:9 aspect ratio and not be a total mess.
So what do you guys use?
Thanks in advance!

Yeah, i gave that a go, it just wasn't very pleasant. Very barebones and rough. But thanks for the suggestion!

[Q] Camera app alternatives?

Hello everyone!
My question is rather simple, which applications do you use as an alternative to the stock camera app?
I would like to hear opinions of people who have tried more of them and decided in the end for something else than stock.
Maybe also list pros and cons for each.
Thank you very much for your help!

We use stock, so...why do you what to change it anyway?
It' s very good.
Thank you for your reply. Personally, for me it's the interface where I need to go into Settings for any adjustment. Moreover, HDR is limited only to 8MP. And more choice when it comes to scene modes would be nice.

In PlayStore you'll find some alternatives.
Some are paid apps, but just read the Description and the Reviews, to make up your mind.

Thank you for trying to help, however what I'm interested in are experiences of people with different apps. For example, I was recommended Manual Camera app which turned out to be quite useless without the new API being supported by this phone.
I use Camera FV-5 and like it best...tried some others (stock, a better camera, google camera) and for editing i like pics art...

I search for another camera app too. The stock camera app doesn't include effect for high res photo (8MP or more). Also, it doesn't produce vivid color like Samsung/LG G3 stock camera app. Up until now, i use Camera360 in its easy mode.
Very usefull, and i think its better in some aspect (like saturation and effect).
But i'm still looking for the best app.
Try Snap cam. I use it all the time. It takes great shots
