Brightness control in Video applications (does not seem to work, 1 or 30 is the same) - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Brightness control in Video applications (does not seem to work, 1 or 30 is the same).
I'm testing with nPlayer and MX Player (what I normally use), I'm finding I'm unable to control the brightness from within the video app, while it moves up and down the brightness never changes. One App I'd blame it two, I'm thinking something else is blocking them from adjusting the setting for brightness.
I thought maybe permissions, but that does not seem to be it.
Any idea?

Just tried this on Mx player and you're right ! Very weird. Annoying too . Will look into this.
Noticed on Mx player if you go into settings and have brightness set to minimum it dims to what you set it to but when you go out of settings it defaults to max brightness ! Very weird.

Very annoying, but also glade it is not only me.

[REQ][MOD] YOUTUBE videos set screen to MAX BRIGHTNESS

Would it be possible to modify the Youtube app to where either, when a video begins playing (preferably), or, when the application is opened, the screen will be turned to 100% brightness, or maybe even a custom level. I noticed that when you open the camera it sets the screen to the maximum brightness level, that might be a start, but then again I don't know what's really involved.

Download Tasker from the market. It'll allow you to set up an event to do just this...

Dim screen brightness... permanently?

I currently use screen filter to take the brightness of the NS down to a comfortable viewing level but it has it's limitations. It has to be started manually and certain apps will not play nicely with it. Gmail foe Llewellyn example freezes totally while ever screen filter is working.
I'm looking for a solution to drop the brightness beyond the lowest level allowed by default on the NS and keep it that way.
Is there such an app available?

[Q] TF300T auto brightness in full screen videos

I have had my TF300T for a week and a half now. Whenever i watch movies in full screen, you tube, actual file on my tablet, flash video, or Netflix. the screen seams to adjust its brightness randomly throughout the video. I have ensured that i have auto brightness turned off, and have tried this on all three modes (performance, balanced, power saver). I get the same results in each mode. If i set the brightness high enough there is no auto adjustment of the screen brightness, but this is pretty annoying because i either have to choose between sucking my battery dry or dealing with the brightness randomly changing. Am i the only one having this issue? remember this only happens in full screen videos.

This happens to me too when I'm watching at the lowest brightness point, just raise it a bit and it should be okay. Anyways ASUS need to fix this too.
Thank you for the fast reply. I just wanted to make sure that it was not a defect with my tablet before i go past the return policy. I think i will call Asus and let them know about this issue to get their attention about it.

video playback too dark

hi folks,
I just got an n8010 and I like it alot. only thing thats bothering me is the display brightness during video playback. for normal use its fine and I set it to about 4o%, but for video playback even when set max brightness its still not bright enough. have tried all the usual players. is there a video player that can increase brightness? or a different rom that gives higher maximum brightess? I also have an acer aspire one 725 netbook, and its screen brightness is much better for video playback.
thanks,
gary.
I have the same issue.

its weird. the tablet is capable of being uber bright, yet for video not bright enough. its a shme, its the only thing I dont like about this tablet. thinking of trying a tf700t instead.
Have you made sure that power saving mode is off? It limits screen brightness, and I would guess it tries to do this especially if you are doing something that keeps the screen on for a long time, like watching a video. Also, you should check under the display settings, since there is a setting that tries to optimize the colors for different use cases. It's called screen mode. play with those settings a bit and see if your experience improves any. Finally, make sure auto brightness is off, and then you can manually put the brightness all the way up using the slider in the status bar.
Hope I helped you.
Tried all the options. It has an outdoor mode which is brighter but seems to really wash out the color. Max brightness is a good start as auto bright is never enough to watch something in thus tablet. I'm hoping to find a way to increase the brightness even more tho.

Try using MX Player and slide your finger up at the left edge of the screen while playing. This player's screen brightness is independent to system brightness, and on my device its max brightness seems even brighter.

S8+ and App Brightness

I just got this phone and Eiger if I'm the only one that has this issue. When I try to change brightness per app ( Kindle and video players) it does not change. I can only change brightness via the system slider. On my old phone the brightness would change for Kindle (there is a menu to change brightness) and for MX Player. Is it just me?
I've had to automate brightness changes his automagic but that's not ideal at all. It should work as this phone is newer than my S6 edge plus.
I am on model G955U (Sprint) and the AQEF baseband build (Android 7.0). Any help appreciated. Just to confirm it's common occurrence or if it's something in my setup.

Did you try the video enhancer setting?
This automatically brightens the video on any app you tie it to.

Have tried on and off and tried Auto brightness settings. I haven't seen any other posts with similar issue, but will keep searching. When I get time I will try factory reset but I have tried that before and still only can adjust brightness via the system/notification panel. Kindle brightness still works on my s6 edge plus, so don't think it's software issue. Unfortunately I bought phone on eBay and no return or warranty policy unless factory warranty carries over.
