Hi. I have a Canadian Galaxy S7 (SM-G930W8) and I'm looking for recommendations on the best and most stable custom roms running Android Pie, or Oreo. Preferably Pie.
I'd also prefer roms that are based on Samsung's software as I'm not a big fan of AOSP based roms, like LineageOS for example.
I've heard of BlackDiamond and that seems like a great rom and I'd love to install it but apparently it has issues with Gear connection so I can't. I have a Gear S3 that I use everyday so functioning Gear connectivity is a must.
Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

I was just wondering if anyone found a good (and stable) rom for the SGS3 to Work with Gear S2?
I have been very happy with Wanam Lite for many years (JB4.3) - running great (smooth and very stable - AND with radio working)!
...but it would not work with the gear app, and thus a no go to use with my gear s2.
My phone is now updated with the Blekota Note 4 Kite ROM v.5.2 final (Kitkat4.4.4), and everything work ok, incl. the gear app,
however the phone is "extreeeeemely" slow. Can anything be done about this? ...
Anyone have better experience with other roms that run better on the SGS3 (ie. faster).
Better Bluetooth battery performance could also be a nice thing... anyone?
Hello,
today I got a new Samsung Galaxy S7 (Exynos).
Since today I always had a Galaxy S2 with Cyanogenmod installed. I never ever used the original Samsung ROM.
Sadly there is no Cyanogenmod for Galaxy S7.
I am looking for a ROM with these features:
- as much AOSP/Cyanogenmod like as possible, I don't need touchwiz, I'm fine with e.g. NovaLauncher (*but I heard there are battery drain issues on S7??*)
- no preinstalled apps, no google play store, a really "clean" android (of course camera, sensors etc should work)
- possibility to encrypt device, root, xprivacy
- a nice dark theme
1) Is there a ROM that suits my needs?
2) Or should I take the newest official ROM and debloat it with the tutorials here on the board.
Thank you for your suggestions! There are so many ROMs here, it is hard to choose.

1: No. There are no AOSP/CM roms for the S7 due to lack of sources for the kernel. The best you can do is to run some "custom" touchwiz rom where most samsung apps (such as dialer, contacts, clock etc) have been removed and replaced with their google counterparts, but in the end of the day, it's still a touchwiz rom.
2: Since the last phone you owned was the S2, I suggest you give stock touchwiz a real chance, a lot has changed since the S2 stock days so who knows, you might get used to it. The Android 7.0 Beta rom is quite good looking and quite fast, not stock android fast but still pretty good. Give it a shot and see how you feel about it.
Hi guys
I used to use Cyanogenmod. Recently I've been looking to put my Samsung Galaxy S6 SM-920F on Cyanogenmod 13.
I'm not totally set on Cyanogenmod but I would really like to try out some 3rd party ROMs. Anyone know any that are close to functional on android 6. I've been looking around and the versions I've found of cyanogenmod have a list of missing features. The other ROMs I've found are on Android 5.1.1.
I'm not concerned if theres a few things missing on the features list.
Any thoughts guys, what are you guys using.
I used to stick with the Cyanogenmod ROMs as well until I got my 920F.
I've played with a few of them, but I'm currently showing the CarHDRom some love along with the Twisted Kernel V10.
The Pixel ROM is also worth a look.
I'm no expert but I know what I like.
~Thanks for that. I'd seen carHD but th elink I found was on android 5.1 I'll take a look at all of them
Hello,
Been reading the ROM forums for the past two days and i can't decide myself on which ROM would fit best my cousin's Galaxy J7 2016 (SM-J710FN) daily driver.
She would love to have dark mode along with Android 9 stock emojis. Edge Lighting Notifications would be a nice bonus too.
Which custom ROM would you guys suggest ? Possibly one running Android 9 and that is kind of stable for the most parts, i understand there is no perfect Pie port.
Thanks a lot for your help. :good:
I currently have an S7 flat with the stock samsung oreo rom, no root or other customizations. Upon its launch, it was on par if not faster than my iphone 6s. Now, the S7 is quit abit slower in gaming and overall performance vs the 6s.
I wonder if thats due to outdated software/OS, as i understand the S7 is by default running TouchWizz? The playstore says Samsung oneUI though.
Anyway, to the question, will installing a custom rom like Lineageos or any other rom improve general gaming and app performance, or will it not make a huge difference?
I have already done a factory reset, disable apps (bloat) etc.

There might be custom roms with better performance for some usage.
But you may have to check/test several roms to find the one that matches your needs best.
Here you can find some custom roms for your device:
Samsung Galaxy S7 (Exynos) ROMs, Kernels, Recoveri
Galaxy S7 ROMs, how to root, kernels, apps, downloads, and mods. (Exynos)
forum.xda-developers.com
Best to create a backup of important data on your phone. Just in case...

The launcher Samsung changed the name to One UI but you're still running Samsung Experience not Touchwhiz.
