Hi XDA!
I'm Jolan, the developer of Magical Location Clock (MLC - mlc.jolanrensen.nl), an app I've been working on for about a year now.
If you know Tasker you might know me from my ADB Shell and Hotword Plugins, or maybe my Widget Screensaver app (all can be found at my signature).
I think it's time to release MLC!
What is MLC?
MLC is a widget for your homescreen that allows you to see easily and stylishly where your family or friends are, just like the Weasley clock from Harry Potter! The widgets are themed and the themes can be chosen from the default themes or from user themes that can be shared directly or published to themes.mlc.jolanrensen.nl.
More information about the app can be found at the website mlc.jolanrensen.nl, or at the Play Store description which I attached below.
The app is free to use, but if you want access to the huge theme editor, have more than one group at a time or be able to add people to a group using an API, you will need the full version that can be unlocked using a one-time in-app purchase.

Let's add some more screenshots:
To try it out, download the beta using the Google Play Store or XDA Labs.
Let me know what you think! For questions, just leave them below or email me at [email protected]. Please report any bugs, battery drain, tips etc. you find as I can then improve the app for everyone!
Code:

• No ads at the moment!
• Android Q ready
Full version only:
• Have more than one group at a time
• Create and share your own themes using the extensive theme editor where you can customize:
- The background
- The location text (colors, size, custom font etc)
- The people- and group-picture size, frames (colors, size, custom SVGs)
- The hands (colors, size, custom SVGs)
- The shadows
• Add people to a group using an API (aka people with a GPS logging app on an iPhone or other device)
• Wear OS tile/app
• Support the dev :)
I've been working on this app by myself since May 2018 while studying at university. It's been hundreds if not thousands of hours of work and I've learned an immense amount in the process. There probably still are bugs in the app and things that can be improved, so please do not hesitate to tell me what you think!
This app works well with Widget Screensaver made by myself. With it you can display the clocks in a screensaver!
It also works with Wearable Widgets. Using this app you can display a clock on your smartwatch too!

I also still have some promo codes left, so don't hesitate to ask

Hi everyone, I'm now opening up the beta of Magical Location Clock!
Thanks to everyone that tested. Please tell your friends and family about it and design some pretty themes .
I'll release it on XDA Labs as well, as soon as this signature error is solved.

I think you shouldn't extend the app edge to edge for devices on Pie and below

Now could you also make the navbar transparent like what you did with widget screensaver? I know it'd take a bit more time because there are more color variations behind the nav buttons but I think it would be a great aesthetic improvement over the current tinted navbar.

Hi everyone!
I just found out emojis work really well with Magical Location Clock! They appear in the clock, just like any other text and can be used in addition to or as a replacement for location names. Remember that location names are split on the space that's closest to the middle.
When you're on vacation it's of course fun to add your camping as a location to MLC because you won't be home for a while anyways! With the app you can always add, remove or edit locations and everyone in the group will see!

Edit2:
0.104

[APP] Minimal Reader 3.3 - 02/10/2012

Finally out of Beta and available on the Play Store !
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jv.minimalreader
Hey folks!
I've been hard at work these past weeks to take my Minimal Reader Widgets to the next level. I finally reached a milestone of stability, performance and usability, and I just couldn't help but sharing it with you guys.
I'm proud to introduce Minimal Reader 3.0 - Bringing a full Google Reader experience on your Android device with a brand new APP in addition to the widgets!
The App follows the latest ICS Guidelines and is available from Android 2.2 and above. It's clean, fast and simple to use.
There's a new color system that let's you associate a color to a particular feed, so you can easily spot it when scrolling through lists of news.
App and widgets are completely synchronized, so you can both quick read through your daily feeds on a widget and explore more content in the app when you have time.
The app should be pretty straightforward to use, give it a spin, and if you encounter any issues/bugs, please report them in a detailed comment on this thread.
I'm really looking forward to your feedback, and to make it easy for me, please give me your opinion by simply answering these three questions :
1/ what do you like about the app
2/ what do you miss (compared to other news app maybe)
3/ how would you improve it
Here are some screenshots :

gonna test
For me the minimal reader is the best reader/widget. I'm looking forward to test this beta.
First impression: really fast, but I don't have tried the older version (2.6)
What I liked: velocity
What I missed: possiblity to change the mobilizer. Readability Mobilizer is better than the Instapaper One (imho)
Suggestions:
1) after the tap on "mark all as read", the app should refresh the ui to not show again the feed marked as read. If I'm in the "browse" view, under a certain folder, it should prompt me to the upper folder
2) the name of the tabs are too big/long: as you can see from the picture above, the words "reading list (0)" and "favourites (0)" are too close.
I like the look, and feeling a lot. Just like 2.6, but great to have a app with it now
Things I miss: Synchronization interval
Suggestions:
Change the order of my labels, now you would have to add labels 1 by 1 to get the order you want. Would be nice if it could just be added all at once, and be reordered afterwards
Maybe an option to rename the labels in the app (only for the app, so leave the label name as it is in google reader), with the same reason as above poster
Maybe I missed it, but just saw there is no option for adding an individual rss feed. Not a problem for me, but maybe other people still like to add them all manually
This is great stuff guys, exactly the stuff I need to hear to prioritize features.
Keep it coming!
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Look forward to testing this, thanks
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Another suggestion/missing feature:
Refresh on app startup
Suggestion:
Option to hide read labels (unless all are read/show all is selected) So you wont have to scroll through empty labels to get to the ones you havent read yet
Is it possible to add an export favourite news option? Just a simple html list with the title and link of the news, something like that.
Best news reader ever
Going to test. Just downloaded the beta. Will tell you how it works on both CM9 and CM7.
Cheers!!
I'm actually live coding your suggestions right now
Here's my TODO list atm :
From XDA :
----------------
ADD : Reorder colums in manage screen
ADD : hide columns when no more news (option ?)
ADD : Auto refresh in background option
ADD : Refresh on startup option
FROM ME :
----------------
ADD : sync starred from greader as favorites
ADD : white theme
ADD : tutorial with recommended labels
ADD : Tablet UI
This is great. Thanks guys !
Nice
Loved the widget, but now with the app its even better
I used the application for quite sometime.
Device: Motorola Defy (Rooted + Custom ROM)
ROM: White Rabbit v1.5 - Gingerbread 2.3.7
Pros:
Works Fast even on Edge
Really good looking widget with nice features
Design is good to look at. But I feel the 'carbon' theme is kinda distracting. But its just my feeling.
Changes I Would Love:
The tab texts are quite long. Better if they were smaller and space between was larger. (Already given)
The title text of content is a tad big. A smaller text would be better and feel flush with the total design. Previously given menu choice of 'Small' text makes it too small = Ability to choose a proper text size using a slider with numbers (Higher flexibility?)
The space between the contents in the widget could be slightly more.
FORCE CLOSE
The main app FCs every time I press the hard 'menu' button or the 'more' icon on the top-right corner. You should check that for sure.
It again FCs every time I press a feed in the 'Browse' tab under the reading list. FCs every single time.
Will the beta testers be given free licenses?

About the FCs, could you download Sendlog from the play store (free) and send me a log after reproducing both crashes ?

That is the dropbox link for you. I didn't know a better way to send it across. Hope you find it useful. If you can't download, just reply. I'll make sure you are able to.

Just installed the beta and I love it for most part. There are a couple things I don't like though and all of them are cosmetic (not too much of a biggie but I like my homescreens looking good):
1. For the widget, I dislike the new size of the "header". The 3 buttons and the counter (also the new MR button) are quite bigger than on 2.6. Much liked the previous size better.
2. Still concerning the widget, the new button that launches the full reader is a bit unsightly. Even though the icon represents MR, maybe a more subtle icon can be used instead that is more inline with the 3 other header icons (simple, single colored icon). If not, then maybe let us specifically hide only this icon (also allow the counter to be moved to the left most if the icon is hidden).
3. Hope you are still working on making the widget look more sightly when there are no items. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24773750#post24773750
Other than these, I'm pretty content.
Thanks for your hardwork!
Minimal Reader Pro 3.0
Hi Joenrv!!
I heard the latest news by this forum, when I came to see if my eternal "refresh" problem can be solved!
I was very surprised, that a new big update even in beta, but, I was disappointed to know this version only works in 2.2+ android version! Mine is 2.1 and still be for some time!
So please, can you tell me if for my version, no more updates will be released?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Alex, unfortunatly I have no plans on supporting Android 2.1 ... I'm using libraries that work on Android 2.2 and above only ...
But If you're here on this forum, you must know ways to flash a higher version on your phone... I mean what phone today has no custom ROM > 2.2 here on XDA?
Very nice app and widget. I like the clean and simple interface. I was going to suggest white theme (not only for pop-ups), but I see it's already on todo list.
Small remark - can you remove or add option to remove the horizontal padding of the widget - it doesn't expand fully horizontally and visually differs in width compared to other widgets I have (vertically there is no such padding/margin).
Could Minimal Reader use https to connect to google reader? For some reason, I have to use proxy and it only supports https.
Thanks.

[APP][4.0+] FeedEx News Reader

FeedEx News Reader is a light, modern, totally free (no ads) and opensource project which keeps you inform by fetching your websites/blogs and displaying them in a mobile-optimized way. It is based on the "Sparse rss" reader and is able to read RSS/Atom feeds.
It DO NOT synchronizes with any online feed reader, but do you really need feeds synchronization now you always have your phone with you?
Features:
- easily add new feeds thanks to the finders or subscribe to a new one from the browser via the share feature
- offline reading including images
- import/export the feed list from OPML
- retrieve the full text of the feed when the content is truncated
- star your favorite entries
- filter your feed by keywords or regular expressions
- custom widget
Feedly users: you can export your feeds to OPML at this address (cloud.feedly.com/#opml) and then import them into FeedEx News Reader.
Any help would be very appreciated!

Please do not hesitate to tell me what you're thinking of it!

Nice, simple little app. Good stuff!
Here is a link for folk https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.fred.feedex
Thanks for your work.
Thanks, I like this
I like the modern design and the dark theme.
A request ... In the widgets, it would be good if the user could choose the number of lines to display per item of news. To clarify, I'd like to see the main news item in bold at a user defined size along with maybe a line or two (as opted by me) of the news details. The headline alone does not allow me to understand if the item is worth opening. To get an idea of the look of the widget I intend, look at Scrollable news widget
Another thing is ... to keep in line with the latest Gmail, remove the refresh button and let the user pull down to refresh.
Cheers
Hi!
Sorry for the late answer, with the holidays I forgot it
Concerning the widget, I agree there is lot of improvements to do. This is not my priority because I would like to add some features to the application before (search, tablet support), but I'll do it and make FeedEx News Reader better and better, I just need time
Great app, thank you for this. I give you five stars in Play Store. Finally i can get rid of annoying feedly.
I have a question, though: how does exclusion filter work? Tried to apply it to some feed, seems not to work or i can't understand something. Let me explain. I read some russian news site called Mignews. The problem with them is that they don't post sport news in separate feed, and i totally uninterested in sport news. Every sport-related entry has a title starting with 'MIGsport:' and the actual title after it, so i thought i can filter these entries out by entering MIGsport: and checking «Apply to title», but these entries are still there. I am doing something wrong or don't understand the purpose of filtering?
Thanks for the stars I'm glad to see that some people really like FeedEx.
Concerning your issue, I think the filter is working but you have to know that it's effective only on futur news. The already downloaded news are kept, even if they match with the filter.
Can you confirm me that?
Well, I understand. Let me check it for couple of hours and I'll report back.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
Ok, if it's does not work, then there is chances that there is a bug inside FeedEx
I don't think it's a bug, let's wait and see. I set the app to auto-refresh every 30 minutes. What I'm going to do is to compare my timeline in FeedEx with desktop reader and my girlfriend's one. This way I'll know for sure. Will report my results later today.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
OK, tested and filtering works for newly downloaded entries! Thanks a lot!
Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
You're welcome.
I agree it's a little confusing, I should explain this somewhere into the app
Thank you for your application, it is very convenient! Tell me, are there plans to make a list of feeds foldable and add the ability to reduce the font in the "news"? On my Note2 they look very big.
Hi!
Sorry for the late answer
Concerning the possibility to fold the feeds, I was possible before but not today. I remove it to allow to clic on a group and to have more simplicity into the navigation drawer. For my use, the folding feature is still present into the feed edit screen to allow to move them easily into groups.
So I'm sorry but there is currently no plans for adding it again.
And concerning the font size can you post a screenshot or explain where exactly do you find the font too big?
Hi HoloAddict!
Nice program, thanks for your excellent work. By the looks of it, the only developing standalone RSS feed reader with offline mode on the market.
Some feature suggestions for this app:
- would be nice to be able to configure font and font size. I find current font the program uses is a bit inconvenient for my eyes. I would prefer the one used by gReader. But others may like the current font. Would be nice to have it configurable.
- would be nice to have per-channel settings for number of items and item expiration. Would also be nice to be able to prevent unread items from being automatically cleared (but still clear the read ones).
- would be nice to have channel groups collapsing and expanding in the channel list - this would save space in the channel list and optimise it's navigation.
- buttons "Show original text" and "See in browser" in the article reading mode - can you make them smaller or move to the header row? Or at least make this option configurable? For short articles they take half of the screen
- would be nice to have "back" button to return you from article list to channel list, and not quit the program (this might be personal. I just got used to this hierarchy: channel list --> article list --> article).
Apart from that - great app, thanks for your work!
Darsh
Hi!
Thanks for the comments!
Concerning your questions:

You're the second one who tell me this. I personnally prefer the one use by feedex (otherwise I would not have choose it ), I believe it's less tiring. Do other people think as darsh?
- would be nice to have per-channel settings for number of items and item expiration. Would also be nice to be able to prevent unread items from being automatically cleared (but still clear the read ones).

I do not want the first part (to keep it simple), but the second part is interesting, I think I'll implement it.
- would be nice to have channel groups collapsing and expanding in the channel list - this would save space in the channel list and optimise it's navigation.
Click to collapse
It was like this before, but I changed my mind to keep simplicity (code and UI) and allow some actions like clicking on a group. Moreover I used group collapsing especially for feed sorting, not for reading it everyday.
- buttons "Show original text" and "See in browser" in the article reading mode - can you make them smaller or move to the header row? Or at least make this option configurable? For short articles they take half of the screen
Click to collapse
I do not understood this one... Why the size of these buttons is a problem ? They are always at the bottom of the text.
- would be nice to have "back" button to return you from article list to channel list, and not quit the program (this might be personal. I just got used to this hierarchy: channel list --> article list --> article).

You're not the only one to ask me this. I could do it but this is against the android principle of a navigation drawer. Look at the gmail app, the back button doesn't open the drawer. And if I do like you said, I can't quit the app with the back button... Moreover, the back button should do what it's aimed for: going back, not open a menu.
@HoloAddict: Actually, I wanted to ask for same: to place «Retrieve the full text» and «See in browser» buttons side by side. It looks better and more «polished» and takes less place.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
Side by side? I agree it would be better but I'm affraid there won't be enought width on lot of phone to be able to do that...
Nice App
@HoloAddict thanks for this App. I´m using youre feed reader now for a week and it´s really nice. Only thing missing for me atm is to switch filter from exclusion to inclusion because there are some feeds where I would prefer to get only news for filtered terms. :good: :good: :good:

Agnimax, thanks a lot ... was just the kind of widget I was looking for.
Just a couple of things:
a) After I add the cities, there is no way to re-order them. Can you fix that?
b) The widget shown on your screenshot does not work for me ... the "local+world". I place it on an empty home page and yet I get a message "No more room on this Home Screen". This is on an S4 with the Apex launcher.
Thank you

Thanks again.

Great, that's fixed now Hope the re-ordering option comes next.
And then, I'd appreciate it if you can allow for the 4 x 2 widgets to be placed a little more higher. Right now, a small gap is placed between the widget and the notification bar. This gap is less in the 4 x 1 widget.
Some options I'd like (these are just wishes and not really necessary given that your objective has been met) are:
change font size for the different variables.
ability to place multiple hotspots ... press the hour to launch app1, minute to launch app2, etc.
another wish is to incorporate weather.
Thanks a lot
Nice widget with a clean layout. Just what I needed.
Some suggestions:
1. Option to change the background color.
2. Reordering clocks.
3. Option for font size (better if it is for individual clocks)
and keep up the good work.

Hi Buddy,
Thanks a lot.
About the gap we will check and let you know.
Change in font size : This is off-course there in our to-do list. What we are planning is Integrate Alarm and Weather to local+world clock widget. Same time We are working on increasing the font size so the number of cities will be reduced to 2 (for 4x2 widget ). We are also planing for adding more than two cities by dynamically increasing the widget support coz the latest android support support stretching the widget sizes. Our first priority to integrate Alarm feature in App. Then in widget and after that font sizes etc. I will keep you posted with the progress.
Multiple hot-spots : I really didn't make out what exactly is the requirement here. Do you want a different app to be opened on taping various hot-spots in widget ? Please let me know.
Thanks
Agni

Yes ... wanted to launch different apps by touching various hot-spots, but on second thoughts, never mind. Maybe just leave it as it is.

[APP][4.0+] Fenix for Twitter - Preview

Hey guys!
For the last few weeks I have been working on a new app, called Fenix, yet another Twitter client (yes, I know, bad timing...).
The app is not ready yet, but I wanted to share with you an initial preview and get some feedback.
The core features are already implemented, but a lot of work is still needed and a ton of other features will be added.
Here's a summary of what you get right now:
Clickable links in timeline (I've not found another app that does this yet, apart from the official client)
Inline preview of images and youtube videos
Two styles of inline media preview - small and big
The usual dark and light themes
Dedicated tablet layout
Quick access to lists and saved searches from the app left drawer
Optional internal web browser
Multiple accounts support
As I said, the app is not ready, but I'd like to hear your feedback and requests.
You can join this Google+ community to get the latest test version of the app.
Follow this thread or the @fenix_app twitter account for updates.
Enjoy!

I've no idea why you don't have any replies yet but this is a fantastic app I'm going to test it for a bit and will provide better feedback later. First impressions though is that's is a very very good

Trying this out. It looks pretty nice so far, and performance seems good.
An observation: In the dark theme, there's not quite enough contrast between the text and the background. Perhaps make the background a little darker, or the text a little whiter? It may already be completely white, hard to tell.
Great start. Hope to see some more options added soon.

Only thing I've noticed so far is the inability to zoom in the internal browser. This causes a few issues when viewing some pages. I've attached an example.
Still really fantastic work

I want to translate this app to Korean.
Can I Do? ^^

Best Twitter client I've tried for a while, loving the look and feels.
Using this as my client for now, will give you more feedback later.
Great!
A button to go to the top of timeline(mine, others', etc...) should be there...
This is the picture what I said.
sounds good :good:
This is a really nice app, even for a preview release. I like the fact that the app is nice and clean. No problems or bugs with it either. Good job dev

I have been using it all day and have loved it, no one would know that it is a preview release. It's polished, smooth and a joy to glide through the fresh looking timeline. I currently use Falcon & Plume, but this has already become my favourite client. A few things missing to prevent me dumping the other clients, but I'm sure that they will be added as development goes on. Subscribed to thread and looking forward to updates and further development. Good Job!
App looks nice, but is it possible to make for gingerbread?
wow, I´m impressed really great looking app.
My wishes from what I see atm

2. twitlonger support
3. customizable colors for links/usernames
4. options to switch the press/long press behaviour on a tweet
5. once you long press a tweet to expand and see controls, there is no way to collapse it agaim, please add that
6. option for retweet to do it normal or with my reply added to it
7. possibilty to swipe to left and right to switch between items like timeline and mentions
the preview looks very promising, with my wishes above it could really get my default one and I would definitely be happy to review ot
Looks great, way better than other clients. High five man

Welcome to Frost for Facebook!
Notice on Play Store removal
Main web page
Downloads through Github
Frost for Facebook is also available through F-Droid
Frost is a fully themable, fully functional alternative to the official Facebook app.
While being a web wrapper, Frost contains many unique and native features such as:
• True multi user interactions - More than just an option in a settings menu, Frost's account switcher is right in the drawer. You are one tap away from switching accounts, and everything refreshes on the switch so that you can view other accounts instantaneously. Furthermore, the notification service will fetch notifications from all accounts, and will let you know which account has the new notification.
• Better multitasking - Frost contains an overlaying web browser that can be drawn on top of your foreground task. Open links and notifications with a full screen view, then swipe away to get back to your previous task.
• Contextual awareness - Frost integrates additional features via long presses. Need to copy a block of text or share a link? Long press the text. Need to zoom into an image or download it? Long press the image!
• Material Design - Built for lollipop and up, Frost focuses strongly on a beautiful and functional UI, and embraces material transitions and dimensions.
• Complete theme engine - Frost contains very comprehensive themes that customize all components of the app. Frost is also the only app to support transparent themes.
• Fully opened - Nothing speaks for privacy more than being open sourced. Frost is proud to be one of those apps, and can be found on github (Link in the app's about section)
• Fixes the little things - Frost is community driven, and many tweaks are added to address minor inconveniences and give a full native experience, despite being a web app. To list a few:
   • Focusing on a text input will prevent refreshing, so you don't accidentally swipe and lose your progress.
   • Horizontal swipe can be enabled along side the viewpager swipe with a simple long press
   • Automatic bug reports are sent when a crash is detected, so even if you don't contact the devs, you are helping contribute by using the app.
Mandatory permissions used and why:
• Internet, Network State, Wifi State - Frost fetches the pages from Facebook's mobile website. It also needs the network state so as to limit internet usage when you are on a metered network.
• Receive Boot Completed - Frost notifications persist on reboot, and need this permission to be added each time.
• Vibrate - Needed to vibrate phone for notifications; this can be toggled in the settings
• Billing - For purchasing pro and unlocking all of Frost's features
Optional permissions used and why:
(these are only requested when they have to be, and are disabled until then)
• Read/write external storage - Needed to upload photos in a new status and save photos when prompted
• Fine/coarse location - Needed for the check in option if users wish to search for their location
• That's it! No privacy intrusion and no extra demands.
Permissions NOT used and why:
• Wakelock - Frost takes advantage of Android's Job Scheduler, and lets the framework decide when to run background services. Frost therefore doesn't need to constantly run in the background, nor does it force your phone to stay awake.
• Retrieve running apps - Frost has no need to access external apps or see what else is running
• Identity - Frost manages its accounts internally and uses it solely to give you access to your account. We don't depend on other personal information and we don't even save your email.
• Camera - While the camera permission can be added to allow you to directly take photos and upload them, we've decided that it would be best to allow you to do so externally and then share the photo with Frost
* Frost is a third party app and is in no way affiliated with Facebook Inc.*

Frost is primarily distributed through XDA Labs (and no longer through the play store). The app is completely free and open sourced. All that I ask is you rate the app if you like it and give me feedback if there are issues so I can improve it .
Alongside the release builds, there are automatic builds which are generated with each commit. Use this at your own discretion.

Types of posts typically have different classes of attributes. You can use that to your advantage to filter out air you don't want to see. The downside is you are loading a lot of content that you don't actually need.
Is it possible (maybe with a small Substratum theme?) to change the App Opening/ Splash Screen to pure black?

Even though the app itself is fully themable, I wrote it with substratum in mind. Overlays can replace the splash color, which should change the splash screen color.
I can add options in the future to toggle this without other modifications, but they have to be hardcoded and the activity package will need to be switched.

I've talked with the dev of swipe before. If you want my honest opinion, I can't say that Frost is objectively better (right now). My app was made about 4 months ago, and I'm a full time student. Swipe was made well over a year ago, and is now the dev's full time job. We do have different backgrounds, and my background allows me to perhaps better structure my app, but the time difference means that swipe has more features than mine at the current stage. Some features are on my todo list, but it'll take time.
With that said, our apps offer different features. I don't have PIP Videos or Chat heads, but I have a lot of the points mentioned above. Some of them are exclusive to Frost as well. I'd say Swipe did a very good job in being innovative in this field, and I'm sure Frost will become another contender among its competitors.
