Yes the "U" radio usually is not as great as the T-Mobile one as people were using the last released T-Mobile radio for Marshmallow from the "APK1" update since on Marshmallow the T-Mobile one was better than "U" version.
Has anyone tried the Nougat T-Mobile radio on this Android 7.0 update?
Flashed all 4, wifi calling, everything works great!
Flashed over to U firmware from TMO firmware and this is seriously so much smoother than the TMO firmware. Anyone been able to achieve root. I rooted but just kept rebooting every few minutes or so.
What is so different about the U version as opposed to the T-Mobile version? U stands for what exactly?

I went back through my settings and I do have wifi calling with the tmobile bootloader and t mobile radio. I was just looking for the wifi calling quick toggle which isn't there. They did include a mobile date toggle though.

I noticed that I can't install some of the s8 .apks like always on display, messages, weather widget to name a few. I was able to install the s8 TW launcher... it's weird.
basically if you are familiar with the differences between the MM U firmware and MM t mobile firmware, it's the same story here. NO video calling, no carrier bloatware, no VOLTE.

Why wouldn't VOLTE work? I did some searching and see conflicting reports of VOLTE working and not working; i thought only Verizon had issues with VOLTE not working on the U firmware? T-Mobile does too?

to go to twrp, you need to connect phone to charger or to computer through USB and hold Power On + Volume Up keys, after a while you will see counting 10 sec, just keep holding and when counting ends, hold it a little bit then stop holding. it should boot to twrp

Sorry to be a pain but maybe things are getting a little lost in translation.
So Just to be clear answer Yes or No.
1. When you were on Oreo (Beta) you could use SPFlashtool still?
2. You Flashed back to Nougat firmware using SPFlashtool after been on Oreo?
If this is true then it's Happy Days.
Yes ! 3 day ago i flashed the nougat 7.1.1 with spflashtool and i was on oreo official update

Well that's great news and you have been most helpful.
I will try do a Oreo version of TWRP as most mediatek devices require the boot and recovery kernel versions to match so the Nougat TWRP would most probably not boot anyway regardless the status of bootloader locked/unlocked.
By the way which Download Agent for SPFlashTool did you use and what is your SPFlashTool version just in case I or anyone else get's stuck.
Sorry i not a home now but i will send you the version and download agent .. ?

I am going out in a few moments but I will prepare everything and supply instructions tomorrow morning (UK Time) via PM.
If it all works for you I will release it for everyone.
I take it you still have SPFlashTool working so could you possibly do a backup of the Official oreo /system and /boot using SPFlashTool then upload to a good cloud storage with no add's like one drive, gdrive, mega, amazon, etc, etc all in your own time of course.
This beta oreo has lots of logging going on so I assume most of it should be turned off in the official oreo. :fingers-crossed:
I sended i private message to u
@bigrammy i will try it when i get official oreo update. tnx for root

Is the camera working fine after installing the Chinese variant rom?
Guys, i have successfully flashed this ROM using MiFlash Tool, but keep in mind that its a china ROM so there were no Play store, Gmail, No Photos app, and also Portrait mode on rear camera lagging a lot, so i would suggest you guys, dont waste your time to flash this rom, and wait for the OTA, there is no drastic changes in this ROM, looks same like how our device was,
its recommended do not flash this ROM, unless you are a developer, its Purely Chinese ROM, you can select language to English but also you will have to side-load all the GApps, dual 4G also not working
