request developers to port g7,g6,g8 v30 rom for our v20. - LG V20 Guides, News, & Discussion

i rquest developers to please port g7,g6,g8 v30 rom for our v20.my variant is h990n dual sim.not much development nor porting has been done to this great device it is better than g5/g6.but lack of development support.

I think this kind of post is silly, but in this case it gave me the opportunity to mention something potentially interesting.
There was another dev working on G5 previously, he said that the LG "G7 Fit" would be a great device to make a port from, because
it uses the SD821 (basically the same as g5,g6,v20). The difference is it has much newer LG framework, PIE (probably by now, or soon)
and maybe some other desirable stuff.
Since it's SD821 it will be easy/easier/possible..? to port. IDK, if I could I would try, but I know next to nothing about that stuff.
That was a while ago, 'G7 Fit' didn't have any KDZ available then so he couldn't get the files he needed. They are available now though.
Oh, and this "request" doesn't belong in this subforum I believe.

You are probably right about the thread but first here I want to ask for bounty if you had a look to the kdz. I have not looked but I assume bounty has a bit at least. I told him what you said before and this is what he said.

The latest one (Oreo): Q850EM 10g

Or the purpose was just to show he was exited? Oh well, good to know it was useful info

I have that kdz already but i cant extract it with any available tool tried almost everything any suggestion?
Also @Vortell asker mentioned rom port not mod cause bountyman has made a mod for v20 based on v30 https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/development/rom-h-rom-g7-port-v1-0-t3855169that's what a rom port looks like not most of the things broken....if you get what i mean!

Both @runningnak3d and Astrako has modified kdztools to extract the newer kdz's. Look at their github.
I wonder if not S.A.L.T. can do it too.

I will try to pull that KDZ down when I can, and I will update the extractor.

Okay, this just got exciting.

Ok I will try my best to make a mod not rom as I suck at rom making but do have a idea which is to extract files from the rom for the g5 that is ported from g7 so I will force flash it and try to boot then go to twrp and then extract most of the system files to be able to successfully make a mod then flash it on my phone and see if it works hooray! in theory it should
Edit: If I dont boot it will not show me system files (Its ok even if it crashes)

Also wondering if this one will work on EU-based phones, since the blur roms keeps crashing on my G1 (locale errors).

Did you receive this OTA or did you just find the link somewhere? This theoretically should be the same version that is on the Cliq already. We already have a dump from a retail Cliq device and it is incorporated into the S-Blur ROM.

I did learn a better way to do dumps now (that keeps symlinks etc)..but yeah my blur dump was the same as this update.

If you give us a logcat of the issue in the proper thread, we can probably fix it for you. Make sure you follow the proper error reporting format.
We have already had this dump (thanks thedude! You've been a great help) and the s-blur 1.07 incorporates these updates.
i thought we had the pre-release dump, not the official. i must have missed that in my search. ive been waiting for one to build on.... thanks

All the other blur rom's were based on prerelease dumps, but the 1.07.1 in my thread is not.
this isn't an update.zip to be flashed to your phone btw.
It's a SHX file...old school motorola firmware. The modmymoto guys are working on it...and I'm trying out some stuff to see what I can actually do to modify the file.

i just jumped on a friends computer to download this (since i can never access rapidshare through tmo) and saw your post.... Thread bookmarked, please follow up when theres some progress on this. im dying for some official blurness to work with since the only dump ive got is a pre-release with drizzy stains.
My girl just bought a CLIQ and i gota say its pretty cool and the facebook app is 10 times better than the one in Eclair. Its not like a normal face book app there is an app named accounts and you put your email for your facebook account in it and you can have wigets for status updates messages ect. I still cant understand why there is not a single facebook app out right now that can send and recieve messages. Hopfully somone can get the facebook/accounts app from the cliq and deodex it to run on the G1

The source code that was released is not the complete source code. They aren't going to give out their proprietary components. The only source code they released were parts that contained GPL code. Check out the code tree and you'll see what I mean

When i plug it into the USB on my PC it comes up with a new device "Motorola Flash Interface" I don't know if this is significant to anybody?

[Resolved] [Q] Help with MT6589 based devices

Hi,
I thought this was not yet possible to port Cyanogenmod on Dual Sim devices, at least not properly, but then I saw this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2246874
It gave me a real hope for the generic MT6589 device I am currently using.
I am new to all of this, so I hope I don't bother everyone.
Also, my device uses obviously different hardware, but uses the same processor, so I managed to install the above ROM and got it working but without any screen display.
In other words, it was working, and I could see everything as far as the installation wizzard was concerned, so I thought I was fine, but then when I was done and it rebooted, I could not see anything on the display anymore, but the phone was still working working.
So I am assuming some obvious hardware drivers differences, and that the old drivers were still working till I restarted?
Is there a way to modify the rom to make it work?
What files would I need to pull from my device to add/replace in the posted ROM to make it worlk, if that is possible?
Or does cynanogenmod have to compile with the files of my device to work, even though the processor bit had already been done?
If so, I have no problem in trying to compile cyanogenmod from scratch, but I will still get the dual SIM problem, and I thought this has been fixed in this ROM.
So what modifications would need to be done to incorporate the DUAL SIM issue, and make it work, or has this already been resolved upstream?
Is there a github or such of the modifications and alterations that were done to Cyanogenmod for this posted ROM in order to get it working?
I am willing to use those files and port it to my device, but without these modifications, I will not be able to do anything, even though the kernel sources for MT6589 are openly available now.
Sorry for asking this question here, but I tried to reply to the original post and it did not let me.
Is it okay to ask this here?
If not, please excuse me, and if you can forward me to the right place.
Thanks and regards

I can see that, but I think with some patience I can do it.
Also, I have been using Linux for years now, and it seems I just need to figure out how things are laid out in Android.
And once I get used to that, then things become easier.
I am assuming that the linux kernel needs to be compiled with the specific drivers related to my hardware, right?
However, that would still not take into account:
- The changes made in Android/Cyanogenmod that take into account Dual SIM functionality
- How Cyanogenmod is actually laid-out, such as are changes done directly to stock android, or applied as patches?
I was thinking of the following:
1) Checking for the difference between stock Android and Cyanogenmod, and save aside the diff changes to make a patch file.
2) Then hope to find the sources of the stock android that has already been modified to work with MT6589, since these devices obviously use Android on them with some modifications
3) Then apply the patch made in (1) on these sources
Thus, I also need one important question answered:
If I were to download the sources for Cyanogenmod (which I already did), are the patches to the stock Android already applied, or are they placed in a separate folder, and applied on compilation?
I have this feeling that the above patches will probably not work out, because there will probably be extra functions, code that the patch will not be able to take into account, and will have some type of non-working or broken system, until I figure out what is missing.
I might get it to boot to a certain point (most probably shell like), and it would stop there.
Well, in either case, after writing all this down, I started to visualize more the hard part you are talking about, and this would require good knowledge of Android Code and structure.
Thus, if anyone can give me the required Cyanogenmod sources that have already been modified to work on an MT6589, or the diff patches between the normal and modified Cynogenmod, then that would be amazing.
Then I will have to only figure out at that point the propriety files I need to pull from the device, and specific vendor modifications.
Of course, I am just speculating, as this depends on how Android/Cyanogenmod is structured, and I could be completely off the mark, and have no idea what I am talking about.
Thanks

SM-G389F Marshmallow Port to SM-G388F

SM-G389F Marshmallow Port for SM-G388F
Hello Everyone,
So we all know that the SM-G389F has Marshmallow as it's OS,
But when we look on the side of the SM-G388F, we still have Lollipop as it's OS, So I decided to port the OS version of the SM-G389F to the SM-G388F while configuring it to be compatible with it's hardware!
I might need some help....
But we can start by Converting the Firmware Download to a Zip for the Custom Recovery to flash it
(Link to Download)
Thanks for Tuning in,
I will keep you all Updated soon! :fingers-crossed:
Hello Everyone,
I've wasted plenty of time trying to extract the SM-G389F Marshmallow Firmware but it was all for nothing. So now I am asking you all who own this device to flash the ROM link above using odin (https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-xcover3/SM-G389F/BTU/download/G389FXXS1APK1/114774/) and then creating a backup via TWRP including the system.img and the boot.img and sending it to me via Dropbox, Google Drive...
Anyway I would like to forgive myself for failing to do this operation without owning the phone because of the md5 protection, but now I will be leaving this part in your hands
Thanks in Advice,
Diamond26
For all intents and purposes consider the two devices as completely separate/different. First of all the got completely different SoC's (not revisions but completely different brands of SoC's). I started try to compile LineageOS (my sources are up on github), but I was facing completely obscure or unheard of errors that where difficult to fix and the amount of free time I have has changed so I more or less have stopped doing that for the time being.
I will be writing up all the info I know off the device but that task has gotten away from me at the moment due to computer problems.

Please re-read my initial post in this thread, it's not possible. Your dealing with two different types of SoC's, so what your proposing is not possible, compiling from stock Android sources is (if you can fix every compile error)

Do what ever you want, you can still mess around a lot, you just can't transplant files from the value edition to the Normal edition.
There is some cool mods you can do if you modify system apks.

Hi! Has anyone tried to flash a GSI rom on Xiaomi 13? If yes how does it work?
Thanks in advance
Currently there is no GSI working on this model AFAIK. Wait for device specific ports instead.

Have you tried any of these? Does it works on Xiaomi 13? Thank you in advance
Nope, I don't install gsi rom on my devices.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 1/2 ARM64(V9) - X86.
GSI on Xiaomi 12 Pro
after testing several Treble GSis, I finally found CherishOS. Most of them are not booting, or other issues (no mobile data, only calling, settings are crashing,....). Save your time and choose CherishOS. How I flashed it: 1. clean flash...

They may have others with less bugs or updates.

As written above, do research on devices with the same soc, One plus, Samsung etc.
There are surely some with little or no bug.

Thank you!
I am using Project elixir for almost 2 weeks now. So far so good.
I suggest you dont flash it but instead usi it via DSU. Autobrightness is not working, fingerprint too. There are gcam ports wich are also compatible with our device. Battery life is better than miui. Even adding a card to google wallet works fine, until a reboot.

Sorry but what do you mean with "use it via DSU"? What does DSU mean? Is there a tutorial for it? Thank you in advance!

You shouldve just used google to understand better. But basically its a subsystem method wich was implemented to allow a/b partition devices to be able to run gsis' for testing purposes, without the need of flashing and deleting the original os. Think of it as dualboot for android. The only thing is that if you're using it via dev settings, you dont have the choice of selecting what to boot, but your device will directly download google's official gsi (wich is not very functional and its ugly).
Thats why you just need to download the DSU Sideloader app from PlayStore. The app will do everything with a gsi of your choice if you follow the instructions.
The only thing wich is mandatory is that the BL of your device must be unlocked in order to use dsu.
There are videos on YT showing this. If you want to try the gsi I mentioned, download it from their website.

No problem, I dont mind explaining, but there are pretty detailed articles, wich may enlighten you better than I can do it. Anyways, if/when you try it you'll really understand how much MIUI is ruining the experience of that pretty device. I was thinking about selling it 3 days after i got it, only because of that deprecated UI with stupid restrictions. I'm really glad i searched and tried stuff. Good luck!

Hi, sorry if I bother you, I've just tried with project elixir GSI using DSU sideloader, but I don't know why when I restart by clicking on notification it doesn't even boot on my GSI... I've installed the sideloader as root installation... I don't know why it's not working...
