Stable ROM Recommended - Xiaomi Mi 4C

Hello,
I have installed xiaomi eu ROM (android 7 and MIUI 9.5) for some months.
In last weeks I got a lot of CPU consumption draining my batt quickly, probably caused by an app. I have test different apps, however none of them show %cpu by process/app. I have read Google don't "let hardware access" for these data from version 6 and that is the reason. Is it like that? With root, would be the same result?
Now, I have done a software reset but I am thinking about test some new ROM (without MIUI), what will be the best recommended ROM nowadays for stability and performance: Lineage OS, AEX... and what version?
I dont mind Android version, I prefer stability, performance, battery optimized and without MIUI.
Thanks

I would say go with Lineage OS, it has regular updates, it's super stable, no problems with it, everything works and it's fast.
Also if battery life is priority then try going without gapps.

I used XOSP for a years with snapdragon mod camera and this is quite stable for my libra (2gb-16gb rom)

los 16.0 by wjxxbsh

Since our phone is no longer maintained i've decided to build lineage 14.1 for myself.
I'll do it once or twice a month when there are updates.
If anyone need it check here :

Because lineageos said so.

I tried to build both lineage 15.1 and 16 for this phone, but it fails.
I must be doing something wrong but i have no idea what.
Not worth the trouble in my opinion.
I m just fine with Android 7.1

Our devices is dead??? No more rom support?

Hi, since Xiaomi decided to depreciate rom support for our mi4c, everyday i try to find a replacement firmware. But here is what i found: official lineage removed mi4c since april, last rom is 0209 because they no longer support 14.1 version. AICP lastest version is 2702, no longer update. There're many unofficial roms on 4pda, but all of them now have their support ended because the devs move to new devices. There's only Mokee that support nightly 9.0 and release 8.1 version everyday and monthly. I try to find something like "mi4c treble" but no hope, the repository is created but empty, not like mi4 that has unofficial treble support. Maybe i need to buy a new phone? But my phone is still in good condition with no problem so far... :crying::crying::crying:
Yeah, sad but true. I also gave up on new rom, so i still use the 15.1 LineageOS one (20180810). Good rom, no problems here, but wouldnt mind some security updates.
The phone works nicely though and apart from battery lasting a day, i dont see any problems. I guess we will have to move to new phone if we want to see some updates rom.
I resized device partition table in order to support android treble.
I will make custom recovery image which is support android treble.
Maybe our device is ready to support android treble by then
added
I made treble-enabled recovery image now and it works well.
I will release the solution soon.

Is that the one without vibration support?
https://gitlab.e.foundation/e/wiki/en/wikis/device/libra/install
it's a fork of LineageOS, still being updated
haven't tested it yet
This is update of lineage-16.0.

/e/ is a fork of lineage and based on lineage 14.1 for our phone, with microg pre installed. They use a different default launcher, bliss
It works well and is easy to tweak if we dont like the launcher or default apps.
Anyway since our phone is no longer maintained i've decided to build lineage 14.1 for myself.

Mokee have a good android 9 ROM, been using it for months and no issues:
https://download.mokeedev.com/libra.html
Also WJXXBSH recently published new Lineage 16 and even 17! https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=299149
I have not tried it yet, but at least WJXXBSH is keeping our device live.
how about lineage 16 from havoic 3.1 (https://sourceforge.net/projects/havoc-os/files/libra/)
At least it work fine for me on mi4c

Android 10 ROMS for our beloved P2?--- A Discussion.

Does anyone know any developer who would be willing to make android-10 ROMS for our P2 or is Pie the last update for this awesome phone?

Hopefully not as the developers said that as long as they have this phone working they'll keep the development going. :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
Well, I hope there will be future development for this phone too. I'm using one for more than 2 years, and battery still rocks, it sure lasts more than any flagship !
as far as i can tell, mike is working on lineage os 17.
so at least one android 10 rom might be coming soon

Yea bro same, more than 2.5 years and still i get SOT of 6-7 hours.
Whenever i think of buying a new phone, i look at my p2 and i stop. Its still so smooth cuz of the ROMS and charges under 1 hour and 15 minutes.
This phone is the best purchase i ever had. So i want development to keep going on, atleast for 1 more iteration of Android. Then i'll maybe buy Redmi K20 pro next year cuz it'll also have good development in future.
@Erazor84 that's good news brother. But I'll wait for AOSP xtended Android-10 (if it ever comes)
Bcuz i used their Oreo build and now using pie, and i found them the best among all of'em.

My guess would be at least 2 more ROMs :fingers-crossed: one from @VladSor and second from @Fullbustah as they are consistent with porting/ developing the ROMs such as Havoc, Syberia, Bootleggers and POSP for P2.
But of course, we need a reliable vendor upgrade first.

Generic System Image (GSI) is pure untouched Android released by Google for treble enabled phones with a designated vendor partition.
Semi GSI (SGSI) is a customized GSI with features and name of a custom ROM and it can also be installed on treble enabled phones with a designated vendor partition.

The following url https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p2/development/rom-aosip-derpfest-t3981193 will give You access on this forum to the thread concerning AOSiP-10-DerpFest-Alpha-kuntao-20191009.zip which is the first alpha version of the first Android 10 custom rom dedicated to the Lenovo P2.
If You are interested in testing this Android 10 rom, just follow the installation instructions given on the first page of the thread.
If I well understood, I think that someone, maybe mikeioannina ?, should now be working on a Android 10 rom LineageOS 17. If this is the case, all we can do is to be patient.
You will note that from now on we must say Android 10 instead of Q as asked by Google. So, next year, the next version of Android will be Android 11 and not R.

Hello I've tried all of the versions on my KUNTAO, at the beggining very laggy now better, there are some ROMS which you can use w/out a problem if you can live w/out some of the features like the FP GESTURES OR AA CONNECTIVITY.
HAVOC 3.0 (NOT THE TREBLE VERSION) to me is the best option till this post furthermore I don't know.
CHHERS
So, We are half a year further from the last post in this thread, any news on the stability and performance of the android 10 rom's? Im right now on Crdroid Pie ROM and except fingerprint kicking the bucket everything is working flawlessly. Any stable and well performing 10 rom's out there, or should we wait a little longer?

The Most Stable Rom Experience for XT1642

Hello everyone,
I have been Moto G4 Plus XT1642 user for more than 3 years. It has always had ghost screen problem but that doesn't bother me much since I am not a heavy phone user. I remember that my phone was working fine with no problems when I first bought it with original rom. Later I remember that I used Lineageos for this phone model(athene) for a while. At that time Lineageos releases was hit or miss because of the some bugs from that particular release. However it was mostly stable releases.
I used Lineageos till the offical support ended(end of 2018). However latest releases was not stable for me because of the random crashes and reboots.
Because I was unsatisfied with latest Lineageos releases I started to look roms on this forum. I used unofficial Lineageos 14.1, 15.1, ArrowOS 9 and official Motorola's Android 8.1. All these roms had the same problem for me. Random reboot out of nowhere. Some also had notifications bugs etc.
What I want from a phone is basic phone functions, maps and whatsapp and browsing ability in case of emergency and no Google spyware running in the background eating my ram and data plan. So I don't use Google Apps Suite. I recently remembered that I was using Lineageos 14.1 without any issue beginning of 2018. So I searched on the internet and found a release named: lineage-14.1-20180122-nightly-athene-signed.zip
I installed this with Team Win Recovery Project. Again I skipped Google Apps Suite. I manually download apks from apkmirror and install my apps. Since starting to use this version of Lineageos I have not had a single reboot or crash. That is why I wanted to share here with you guys, for people like little requirements from a phone like me but want a stable phone that doesn't reboot when you receive an important call.
You can download the rom here (It seems like I can't post links because I have just registered to post this):
Go to anonfile dot com and add N6MeteP4nb to the end of the url
or here:
Go to gofile dot io and add ?c=vdDl9p to the end of the url.

For me, the best is Oreo at the link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/stock-rom-npjs25-93-14-4-march-1-t3608138
I am looking for a very stable ROM as a daily driver for some older person that will be using Moto G4+.
I tried stock Nougat and Oreo but there was too much Google bloatware and it looks like Lineage OS runs better (at least for me).
I tried also Lineage OS 15.1 but it have some problems with SELinux. I tried most recent LOS 14.1 build with December security patch and it looks the best for me. Unfortunately it probably won't get any further security updates...
Is there any other alternatives for LOS 14.1, that will be stable and up to date and also simple and hassle-free for an older user?

Hi, do you consider that the LOS 14.1 build you tried is stable? What about the battery life?
I'm in the same situation as you are, I need the phone working for an older person, and stock 8.1 is a bit choppy and doesn't have the best battery life.
When I used the phone, I remember that stock Nougat worked great, but since downgrading is dangerous, i'm leaning to switch stock Oreo to LOS 14.1 (Nougat).
Thanks in advance.

Hi I find that ROM faster and more smoother than stock Oreo. I couldn't check if this LOS 14.1 is stable and bug free in every daily actions, but for now it looks very good and I didn't find any problems. Probably I will stay with this ROM as long as devs bring us updates LOS 15.1 looks a little bit heavier than previous version, at least for me.

[Discussion] Suggestions for Stable ROM for Whyred

Dear Fellow Whyred Users,
I am opening this thread to discuss and get views from you in terms of a Stable & Least Buggy ROM (+ kernel) for Whyred 4GB/64GB device
It is more like an on-going discussion so that all can refer to and ask/share queries/comments/feedback and hence putting in this forum and not in Q&A.
Now to allow focussed discussion sharing some baseline requirements
1) By stable means - no random reboots, no crashes, should be good for daily use with Google Apps, GCam etc
2) Least Buggy - may be some small bugs here and there but should be known in advance (if see that these days for all Custom ROM bugs list is blank even when there are few known bugs reported & hence clearly known)
3) It's OK if the ROM is not having the latest security patches (ideally should be updated) but the key requirement is having balanced (battery backup & performance)
Now, yes Custom ROM offers lot of benefits and it is a boon to come out of MIUI trap as well as allows us to experiment and experience new features. But then it does break a few things here and there and also brings uncertainties.
So, for this thread, ok to even share experiences with MIUI (obviously modded one with all ads/****s removed) as well as the whole plethora of Custom ROM.
Request fellow users to share their experience with at least the following details:
ROM Name & Build Date:
Custom kernel Name & Build Date (if any):
Using Since:
Bugs if any:
Concerns if any:
Overall experience:
Reserved 1
Example for sharing your experience of ROM , pls quote this thread and edit !
PS: Mine is not a recommendation as not happy
ROM Name & Build Date: Xiaomi.eu Stable 10.3.4 (Android 9)
Custom kernel Name & Build Date (if any): Agni Kernel v8.7 Stable EAS
Using Since: May 2020
Bugs if any: None observed
Concerns if any: Lately phone seems very slow, performance below par. Reboot/clean cache helps for few days but again same problem
Overall experience: xiaomi.eu has been a good ROM for last 1.5 years, but with latest build seems to be an issue. Will try fresh format once, else change

I was recommended to use PixelExperience which was the first and only custom ROM I have flashed so far since unlocking the bootloader (I only acquired the phone last month). I went with the Pie version of the ROM,
PixelExperience_whyred-9.0-20191211-2037-OFFICIAL
Stock kernel (the one that came with the ROM), no random reboots, no problems, no issues whatsoever.
I might one day or some day flash Omni / Paranoid since I'm a big fan of both and have used them over the years. Maybe you could try those?

Bugs: None
Concerns if Any: Well u cannont Run WCC2 Game if its downloaded from another website (other than play store)
Overall Exp.: I've been using Eu ROM Since january 2020 and i haven't seen that much stable ROM till now. Even the MIUI 12 Beta builds are not that stable (They have high RAM Usage). I will strongly recommend this ROM For the best MIUI 11 Exp.

Custom Kernel Name & Build Date: Stock Kernel (perf 4.4.153-perf+)

Concerns if Any: None so far, in nearly 1 year time.
Overall Exp: This has always been my go to ROM, when I want the perfect balance between performance and battery backup (seen last 8 hours of SoT and 40 hours of standby on it)
-- 1 -- One of the biggest reason why I never switched to MIUI 11, was because it was basically MIUI 10 with some extra tidbits that I could live without. The extra animations and updates just made the whole thing slower and consumed more RAM. For me, MIUI 10 last beta does the job perfectly. Good battery life and spare RAM (1.4-1.5 / 3.0 GB).
MIUI 12 has some major animation issues and spare RAM drops to 0.9-1.1 / 3.0 GB; would not advice anyone to update to that version. Waiting for RevOS [MIUI 12 Android 10 port] to get a bit more stable, might switch to that; as they seemed to have a good RAM management.
-- 2 -- I tried out Havoc, Pixel, Lineage and Corvus. Out of all the 4 ROMs; I'd say Corvus is pretty good. Havoc is nice and refined, but in terms of features, Corvus is the better one. But, what stops me from switch to custom roms is the battery life and slight heating issues. It might be due to kernels, but compared to MIUI 10's 5-6% battery consuption, custom roms eat up around 14-15%. Plus, during idle load, MIUI 10 drops down to as low as 32 C while lowest I seen on Corvus was around 35-36 C. They might have gotten better. Might need to test them out again before I can give a final say on it.
-- 3 -- After using MIUI, you get used to few sweet features it offers. Few of them were the volume panel, per app network settings, the app auto start control toggle and lastly the recent app menu. Paranoid Android did a wonderful job of bringing the first 2 feature to custom stock roms; sadly the other two features still remain unavailble. Hopefully someone will be able to create those.

Thanks @Renz1er for the detailed feedback, very helpful.
Few questions if you may answer:
1) Did you try any subsequent build of Xiaomi.eu MIUI 10 betas and still found this best? Or you never tried any further MIUI 10 or MIUI 11 because of info about extra RAM consumption?
Reason for asking because fellow user @Sidgup1998 suggested Xiaomi.Eu Beta 20.3.26 (MIUI 11) and so checking.
2) Further, you mention RevOS and so checking if you tried any other MIUI Mods like MiRoom etc?
I also googled and found one Official RevOS - tried anytime? ROS-MIUI_RedmiNote5_20.2.26_v11-9.zip
The problem (probably biggest) I've faced with Corvus Os is the mobile data connection. Sometimes if u disconnect and then reconnect, it won't connect until u restart/ Change network type 4g/3g/2g (I used this method).
Otherwise Best Aosp Rom is Corvus as it has my favourite One Plus Navbar Option

I tried out almost every single beta build and stable build for MIUI 10, and this one particular seems to hit the sweet spot. In terms of features offered from MIUI, performance and stability.
For MIUI 11, I just tried few earlier beta builds and some one of the stable builds. They were stable, but like I said, the ram usage and a bit more system animations kept me away.
For MIUI 12, I tried the very first beta build and the last beta build, both had bugs and issues.
-- 2 --Tried Xiaomi.EU Android 10 Port, Masik X Android 10 Port and RevOS Anroid 10 Port. All 3 of them are more of less very similar, just RevOS has bit more free space because it removes a few of MIUI system apps and a bit more free RAM compared to official Android 9 MIUI 12.
But the main issues with these ports are higher temperature, battery backup being a bit worse and the camera libs might not be whyred's so might see a bit degradation in quality.

I tried out almost every single beta build and stable build for MIUI 10, and this one particular seems to hit the sweet spot. In terms of features offered from MIUI, performance and stability.

Thanks for the detailed revert. Clearly noted cons of going with MIUI 11 and MIUI 12
Now, coming back to MIUI 10, what I gather is that xiaomi.eu beta 9.9.3 is essentially last best of MIUI 10 and then the next weekly beta takes to
MIUI 11
Basis same, I tried searching a bit and came across two further ROMs : Mi-Room and Revolution OS
They both having beta builds, my guess based on same last MIUI 10 weekly beta, the release time is closeby to xiaomi.eu (beta 9.9.3)
xiaomi.eu_multi_HMNote5Pro_9.9.3_v10-9.zip 2019-09-05
Mi-Room RedmiNote5_MIUI_9.9.3_MiRoom_9.0.zip 2019-09-06
ROS-MIUI_RedmiNote5_9.9.21_v10-9.zip 2019-09-11
So, was wondering if worth trying anyone of them?
Also nowhere I see any comparison of Mi-Room vs Xiaomi.eu vs RevolutionOS. Do you have any insights here?
I will suggest Pixel experience plus ROM
Build : June 13
Have been using it from last two days and it's pretty stable
I'm getting 7+ hours of SOT
Play Store is certified so no need to install magisk
Video recording is not working with included Mi Camera but you can resolve it by installing Google Camera
I'm Using Google camera 7.3
Omfg guys ... Can you find more unsupported and buggy ROMs??? ?
Did someone try official LOS 17.1 ???
Almost bug free some minors bugs but ROM is rock solid and you'll get weekly OTA.
Some pixlesh*t buggy ROM is not what my grany can use as sound is crapy as hell and others bugs (WIFI, 4g, volte, etc). I tried many of them except MIUI crapware, adware, etc ROMS.
And I always come back to LOS ROMs official or unofficial.
But on the end, decision is up to you.
Good luck and stay safe.
I've tried LOS, the main concern is the constant Signal Drops which ultimately lead to poor signal reception.
I am having these issues in the latest build ( 29/6)
That's why I always come back to MiUi

Khmm, in almost every of yours posts on XDA forum you have always some weird problems and no one else have and can't be reproduce.... Last quote is from MIUI ROM thread.
You are clearly doing something wrong. What firmware do you have? Did you clean install ROM ( advanced wipe -> system, data, cache, dalvik, internal storage)?
Is your persist partition OK?
How is your changing fingerprint going? (under LOS 17.1 thread is your answer):good:
You can PM me and I'll try to help you to narrow down your problem. As I said official LOS 17.1 is the most stable ROM at the moment.
Note to all:
Try to avoiding gapps cr*pware. Use FLOSS stores like f-droid and if you still can't live without google spyware apps use Aurora Store (aka google store but its open source) from XDA lab apps store.
And I'm sorry for this off topic post .
Good luck and stay safe.
@drnightshadow my Eu problem was solved as the new feature implemented by Miui 12 was unknown (they by default changed the imei, simcard response to blank response) and many people were facing the problem
This was a common problem but people didn't knew how to describe

Thanks mate for feedback. Can you share more details about AEX - which build, android version? Any bugs/issues observed etc?
Not so recent, but the best and most stable for me. Did try almost every whyred ROM from xda , and from other forums also. I always end up getting back to this one, specially when you like MIUI experience. Details attached.

Question Which rom are you using for op9 ?

Hi, which rom are you using for oneplus 9?
Unfortunately, the rom support for this model is very bad and many developers have stopped developing roms for op9. I'm looking for a rom that can get continuous updates. Best regards
JaguarOs for Android 11
NamelessOs for Android !2
These two roms are getting regular monthly updates and both are great.
try gsi

For Op 9 and 9 pro finish
"Evolution X" I love the customization it has. Which is why I haven't updated to 12 yet lol. I will sometime. Love the rom though
Personally, DerpOS, which has both OP9/Pro support. Make sure to check out the pro XDA forums, as you'll be able to find many new ROMs outside of just on here.
I used to run EvoX, which is a very good A12 ROM, but when compared to others, isn't updated as much (I believe it's still on the Feb patch). I haven't heard much of when it's planned to be updated, as it's still migrating between maintainers at the moment.
A12.1 builds for the OP9 are limited unfortunately, as LineageOS 19, at the time of writing, is the only "official" one I know of, which you're able to do if you're happy flashing GAPPs.
However, many ROMs have A12.1 working in testing, though not officially released yet. Hopefully you'll see them pop up within the next few weeks, once they've passed their maintainer's QA checks, though I can't speak on their behalf (they'll be ready when they're ready). I'd personally be comfortable in flashing either one of these, as their developers seem very dedicated to supporting the device into the future:
StagOS, DerpOS, DotOS
StagOS in particular is also the only ROM I know of that are working on OOSCam. It seems their progress is coming along well, but you won't find it in any of their public builds as of yet.
As mentioned by a couple of people earlier, though I'd love to recommend Nameless as it's a fantastic ROM, it isn't being maintained at the moment. CrDroid for the Op9, though on paper is maintained, hasn't been updated for a while and the developer has been somewhat MIA. Love to see either come back though.
Personally, I'm still undecided. I saw that someone had problems with the Evox and with the derp very draining of battery. I would be tempted for StageOs ... but I'm still on oxygen 11.2.10.10 even if my device offered me the update to Android 12 C47. However if I do it I cannot flash rom!

Personally haven't had any issues with derp, though I did notice evox had a few weird bugs with material you in the latest update. To each their own, I suppose! OOS11 is still quite good, although I really do like the theaming in a12.
I have flashed all the roms possible. Stag and Evo are pretty gnarly, but I keep it stock OS rooted on 10AA because for some Reason, PuBG is not as smooth on any roms as it is on Oxygen, plus its like the Read-Ahead is way better. Everything Renders in much faster. Like its almost already all there. The Roms arent like that.
I kinda wish someone would make a Gaming Specific rom.
Bone-Dry nothing to it.

Thanks for this. I am so fed up with the bugs on OOS 12 and the app performance throttling. I have been holding off on unlocking the bootloader but I just can't deal with the issues anymore. Would be nice to see what this device can actually do... Sometimes it feels slower than my LG G8 with an 855...
I am waiting for official Pixel Experience so still OOS 12 for me
has anybody here tried lineageos on oneplus 9?
Anyone tested nameless rom?

Hi! Nameless to my knowledge isn't being maintained anymore. It was a good ROM, but don't expect to get any updates like 12.1 13 etc.

I realize! I'm relatively sure it's not being maintained though since then, and support for it has been dropped.
