S8+ slow charging after update - General Questions and Answers

Hello!
Has anyone had or solved a similar problem?
After the Android 9.0 / Samsung One 1.0 update in March, both of my phones as well as my girlfriend's phone (all of them are s8 series) have started having problems with the USB cable connection. Sometimes I have to re-plug it multiple times for it to start charging normally (a bit less than 2hrs to full if nearly empty), otherwise it will offer something like 6-7 hrs of charging time.
The problem is clearly software-based and does not lie in the output or cable, since we have three chargers and all of them cause the same problem in every output either in work or in home. Also, I noticed that hard rebooting seemed to give some help for a while but now the problem is raising its head again.
Causing my head to explode!
Thanks for help!

The more accurate the information, the better chance of a solution being found quickly. Please post if you have experienced this problem on a US GSM (XT1034) or Brazil GSM (XT1033); also stating if it's a 8GB or 16GB version.
Affected Models:
XT1032: EU/Global GSM - 8GB/16GB
XT1033: Brazil Dual-Sim - 8GB/16GB
XT1034: US/Global GSM - 8GB/16GB
[All Variants apparently]
This issue occurs on both Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) and 4.4.2 (KitKat).

I would suggest making the answers more precise, like change the PC chatrging one to "When you disconnected the phone from PC". As I remember noone reported having it drop to 1% WHILE connected, only on disconnecting or later on the desk without cable.

Chose last option - battery suddenly dropped to 1% the moment I pulled USB cable out of PC. I wonder if it could be PC-related, because during over a month I own the device, this never happened either on my home or work PC, both are double-boots W7/Linux and I usually connect to them couple of times each day. The only time it happened was on my friend's PC to which I connected only this one instance and sadly I won't have oppurtunity to come back to any soon to try to reproduce. I only remember it was some windows, probably 7, maybe even Vista - ask no more, it was New Year's Eve !
Got mine's two days ago, no problems.
I had such issue using Brazil GSM (XT1033)
Ok, today I got that problem, my telephone was at 15% and when I plugged the USB it drops to 1%.
I don't know what was that but I'll never connect USB while using the phone, never!

Unfortunately, avoiding USB will not protect you; it can happen even when the phone is not connected. The poll and the main thread support this. USB will often trigger it however.

Crap, man.
Is this a hardware problem?

Unknown at this time. Hopefully Motorola or someone here can figure out the cause. I suggest you contact Motorola Support (webchat) reporting the problem.
Maybe it was a mistake to put the first option in this poll. Just because someone hasn't had this happen, doesn't mean it won't. As far as I can tell, all models, from all regions are susceptible.
In the beginning I had similar probleme couple of times. When phone was disconnected, had 80-90% and after reboot it dropped to about 30-40%. After recharging all was fine again.

Moto G has a non-removable battery.
Can anyone trigger this issue in a reliable manner or encounters it a lot? Most forums seem to say that it only happens once and then never again.
I have had this happen several times, usually only when connected to a PC. On both 3.4 and 4.4.2.
I've posted in the other thread theorising that the trigger might be voltage / current, but the poll so far suggests many people have experienced this issue even when not charging.
Three devices (Tesco, Amazon UK, Amazon UK.) hasn't come across it yet.
Happened when I disabled usb debugging while the device was connected to the laptop. 4.4.2 DE (originally UK)
Can anyone try to reproduce it?
This has happened twice to me within the past 3 days using the stock Canadian 4.3 firmware. No issues so far with the 4.4.2 OTA.

Using the official USB cable provides with the phone and my Windows 8.1 laptop, I was not able to reproduce your results, sorry :\
The battery seems to just do it randomly when it feels like it. Though I've only had this happen when charging via wall charger.

[Completed] NEXUS 6 Charging Slowly & Not detected by PC. Motorola of no Help!

I have problem with my Nexus 6 (no warranty) from last two months. Phone is on 7.0
One night I noticed my phone says it is charging over USB when connected to the quick charger so it is charging very slowly (more than 8 hours from 0-100%).
I was using the Motorola Charger when it start to do only USB charge. I tried different "regular" chargers and multiple USB cords. All yield the same results. So it seems to be some faulty hardware but I don't know which part.
Also i noticed that PC has stopped recognize it when it's connected - it only show USB charging. I don't have option to set connection to MTP (alternative I found it in developer options - same result)
Already tried:
-different chargers
-different usb cables
-factory reset on marshmallow
-downloaded Nougat on phone
I sent it to 2 different repair centers of Motorola in India.
1 changed the port and still the problem persisted.
The other one was a more advanced service center. They took the phone for around 2 months and then they told me there is some hardware problem and it would cost around 60% of the device cost to repair the problem. (It is equal to Rs. 30000 which is more than even the price of a brand new OnePlus 3)
On asking the problem, they just kept telling there is some Hardware problem which they couldn't explain but they knew this would repair the device.
Now I'm a student. Somehow i bought a Nexus 6 that too when its prices were at peak (Rs. 48999) with my parents help.
I use it as my only primary gear. Now it takes around 7 hours to fully charge if kept on Airplane mode and that too without using it.
Its just a waste i am keeping because i cannot afford the repair and even cannot but a new Phone.
Choosing Motorola sucked! (I still trust Google and love it)
I saw TK using Nexus 6. I was much excited. I saw all his videos. It was fun but now even he has dumped the device.
Now i just keep on trying my luck on Giveaways by XDA expecting to get a device.
(I was too excited when they had a Pixel Giveaway by Rhinoshield but unfortunately i didn't win)
All my hope is XDA Giveaways coz i can only trust them.
If you find any solution to this problem please do reply here or mail me.
It would be of great help.

S8+ (SM-G955U1) Few different questions.

I thought about posting this on the newbie post but since there is more than one question, and some of this isn't really for newbies I thought i'd just make a new thread.
So i've had this phone for a few years now. I'm on Consumer Cellular with a TMobile sim card and it's been working fairly good lately. I am wondering if anyone has had the "automatic disabling 'caller id and spam protection' on reboot" bug fixed by the latest security update for the phone for them? As for me it still does it, so curious to know if it was fixed yet for anyone in the US.
Also lately I have been starting to think about possibly replacing the battery on the phone, I haven't noticed a significant power capacity decrease on the phone yet but since I'm a bit paranoid and never seem to let my phone get to less than 50% before charging it I'm sure if I had a power graph of when I first got the phone vs now it would probably show some kind of capacity loss. I know there are a few good places that can sell you a battery and a toolkit along with a new waterproofing seal and have a step by step video of how to do it and since I do have some electrical troubleshooting background I figure it won't be too difficult. But today I saw some guy inside the back of a galaxy s8 and he was using metal tweezers in there and all my old electronics training was just screaming "NOOOOO" LOL so I'm wondering what anyone who knows more about current electronics with this phone; their opinion of doing this is? Bear in mind he also still had the battery inserted in the phone. LOL.
Also I have a question about the specifications of fast charging vs slow charging are for this phone? I can't seem to find any consistent information about what this phones software considers fast vs slow charging as far as available power, and I've noticed I never seem to see the fast charging notification when I have it hooked up to a USB 3.0 port on my computer; and depending on how you interpret the information I've been able to find about what the available power is for a USB 3.0 port, depending on the item connected to it, it could be anywhere from 300 to 900mA available apparently from what I'm seeing but I may be misinterpreting the information I am seeing. Right now the only judge I have other than seeing the "Fast Charging" indicator is I have Ampere and it says that while hooked up to my USB 3.0 port and with most apps off as in not showing in recent apps in that form of standby mode, I am seeing it at anywhere from 330 to 380mA when I activate the screen until it recalculates and goes back down to about 330mA. Also I do know my MB has at least USB 3.1 firstgen from the MB specs. I'm not sure if it's drivers that limit it above that or if it's the actual chipset itself.
Thanks for any info about these questions.

J7 Not reading battery accurately

Hello.
It's my very second post on XDA Forums, so If I'm posting this on a wrong section, please tell me so I can correct/move it to the correct area.
I've been using a J7 (SM G-J700H), that my mom left me when she switched to a newer one, for experimental purposes (monitoring, hacking, rooting, etc).
But I've encountered an issue with the battery: it's not reading it properly, like, whenever I see my phone it is F.E. at 70%, but after rebooting the phone 2 or 3 minutes after the first reading, it drops to 25%, and if I do another reboot It drops down/ goes up to another % far higher/lower than the previous one.
So, I thought maybe the battery was dying (the cellphone has ages of use, but still works and looks fine, like new) and then changed it for a new Samsung original one, but got the same problem.
A good thing to add to this mess is that the battery life of the phone, when charged to 100%*, is correct: it stays on for a day and a half or two (no SIM, just WiFi and stand-by operations).
* = I make sure that it gets charged by connecting it to the power-line for hours xD
So I'm wondering what's causing this reading issues?
What I've done so far to try and fix this was (and obviously failed to):
Factory-Resetting the phone (even flashed the Stock firmware again, thus it was already flashed)
Samsung's battery calibration code
Rooting the phone for further HW analysis.
Checking Temperature (it's normal both on battery or CPU).
Just to avoid questions: I have a small homemade Electronics lab at home, so doing some repairings is not an issue for me.
I have some experience with SMD reflow/soldering, so If it has anything to do with the hardware, just tell me what to do and I'll be able to do so.
By the other hand, if it is a software issue, feel welcome to advice me too because I'm a software technician, so I would catch up with everything you say.
Thank you all who reply to this post in advantage.

Question Android Auto (Wired) Black Screen

Good Day Amazing People!
I have recently switched from samsung note 8 to s22u.
My wired android auto on pioneer DMH-Z5150BT worked like charm with note 8, even my partner's s8+ and s20u.
But when I connect s22u it goes into black screen.
I have tried quality connecting cables but no luck.
Please help me fix the problem.
Thanks In Advance!
tried different versions of AA apk?
Sounds like you got a duffer like me.
Finally got my preorder ... is AA bad for everyone else?!
Holy smokes... Android Auto is driving me crazy nuts on this S22 Ultra. Tried the offical cable from my Note9, and two expensive aftermarket ones and all 3 display a laggy, mess. Trying to use Waze and Android Auto as a whole is unbearable on...
forum.xda-developers.com
If you leave it on black screen for approx 10-15mins it will get to install, but then it'll be less than 1 fps and unusable. So much so, I've been tethering to my note9 which works brilliantly even after 4 years of service.
I've tried about 6 different cables so far, but none seem to work. im getting a $40 3.1usb c-a cable over the weekend to try that as a final straw.
Your suggestions and comments are highly appreciated!
When the data cable is plugged in it won't start until updated. I followed the instructions it goes to black screen.
Both my phone and stereo system is on warranty, I am unable to identify the issue.
Please advice if anyone have a FIX!
I had to use the factory cable along with an adapter, usb-a to c, to get my phone to work with AA. There are still occasional hiccups, but they are few and far between.
I've seen so many report similar AA issues, I recall the reply from samsung was that the phone was not compatible with the Pioneer device and was suggested that they reach out to Pioneer to update or something of that sort.
try previous versions of AA from apkpure\apkmirror
Mine worked with a Highlander / JBL factory head unit, but not on my truck with a Pioneer. I don’t think it’s a cable issue since there’s enough bandwidth to play YouTube videos on the pioneer using Pioneer’s goofy web link app using whatever cable.
I had strange issues with AA with my 2019 Honda Pilot. AA with pixel 6 won't work except with the cable that came with older pixel phones. Note 10, Note 20 Ultra as well as S22 Ultra all either disconnect or don't recognize the phone with the same cable. They work fine when a cheap thin cable.
I have no issues with my S22 Ultra connecting to my Hyundai Santa Fe. It had been a while since I connected it since I have built in navigation and was surprised by the update to the interface. Need to play around with it some more, but it is much more functional than before.
S22 is known to have AA issues with several headunit including Pioneer. Blank black screen.
..good nows guys
android auto have updated today with version 7.7.121904 which has fixed the black screen issue with my pioneer head unit.
But I am not able to locate google maps or waze.
Is anyone facing the issue?
Thanks in advance!
Updated here, still 1 fps.

So, it looks like the AA v7.7 beta fixes the black screen issue on some Pioneer head units, but at the same time, causes the same issue on other Pioneer units where there was no problem with the non-beta. I have a Pioneer AVH-3400NEX in one car and a Pioneer DMH-W4660NEX in another car.
The 3400NEX gives me a black screen with the non-beta version(although you can still hear audio, etc). The beta fixes the issue completely.
The 4660NEX works perfectly with the non-beta (v7.5.62...), but when I install the v7.7 beta, I get black screen on the 4660NEX(but audio works) . . .
Any thoughts on this?
Edit: By the way, AA works perfectly on both head units when connected with my old S10 running non-beta AA.
