The following are custom firmware packages that use the hboot 1.54 (bootloader) from the Google Edition version of the HTC One. Since it is from the Google Edition, the HTC branding has been removed from the bootloader screen. It also has a nice dark look to it rather than the bright white one that is the HTC stock version.
The source thread of that dump is here.
This basically means the latest firmware packages but modified to contain the GE hboot which gives the Dark Bootloader look.
Not compatible with Sprint or Verizon
S-OFF Only!
This is for only M7 UL or M7 U Devices
This mod just uses the hboot file (version 1.54) from the above dump inserted into the newly released firmware versions.
The hboot file is the bootloader of the system and since the hardware functioning of both models is the same, parts of their firmwares are interchangeable.
Since this hboot is coming from a Google Edition there is no red warning text on the bootloader and you don't have to run one of the modified hboot files to remove it.
All these firmware packages are prepared the same. Since we don't want to overwrite our custom recovery or kernel, I have pulled the stock recovery and stock kernel out, so no change to either and no data loss. If a firmware contains a new touchscreen driver that will mandate a update of your custom recovery I will make note and possibly just bundle the firmware with the update recovery (CWM or TWRP). So far the 2 packages that do contain a new touchscreen driver have not required an update to custom recoveries.
The stock radio image for each firmware is left in the package, so if you want to change your firmware version without changing your radio, simply open the firmware zip file and delete the radio.img from the zip before flashing.
Anyone interested in the different partitions of the HTC One to see exactly what is contained in some of these firmware packages look here:
Partition list Info from SneakyGhost. He shared that info here

Here is a screenshot of what the Dark Bootloader looks like. The RADIO and OS versions will match the firmware package. This shows the first version:

These will work as is for most MID's and CID's. You should open the android-info.txt file within the firmware zip and make sure your MID and CID is listed. Get your current MID and CID with this fastboot command:
Code:
fastboot getvar all
If yours is not listed you will need to add your CID or MID to the android-info.txt file inside the zip files I provided. Just extract the file from the zip download and edit one of the entries found in the file to your CID/MID. Save the file and then add it back to the zip. I would delete the existing android-info.txt file from within the zip before re-adding the updated one back.
Instructions for Flashing:
Boot to bootloader:
Code:
adb reboot-bootloader
Reboot RUU mode via fastboot:
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
Flash the firmware:
Code:
fastboot flash zip 3.17.502.3_firmware_darkboot.zip
After it finishes, execute the command again to complete the flash:
Code:
fastboot flash zip 3.17.502.3_firmware_darkboot.zip
Output should look something like this:
Code:
D:\Phone\adt-bundle-windows-x86-20130522\sdk\platform-tools>adb reboot-bootloader

Now you can type reboot you are all set.
Disconnect the cable and go back into the bootloader to see the new dark theme and also notice that when you boot up there is a little lock symbol at the bottom of your splash screen that indicates your bootloader status. If you want the Dark/Inverted splash screen I have shown on my phone it can flashed separately from here.
Just install from recovery.
Here is the Bootloader Status Icon:
Enjoy, but remember - Flash at your own risk. This firmware from the 4.3 dump changes very important bootloader partitions on your phone. Make sure you have working ADB with updated drivers.
*****NOTE - The hboot in these firmware packages contains hboot 1.54 which I understand doesn't work with fastboot commands on Windows 8.1 until you have installed the Intel USB 3.0 drivers. See HERE

No problems with recovery because the Touch drivers are not updated.
Looks like adb not working on 4.3, my device shows offline, not sure why i just flash the 2.24 fw this morning before flashing the GE 4.3

ADB is working fine for me after flashing either of these. I didn't need to update the sdk or anything but maybe you should try. In general the changes made here should not have an affect on ADB.
If you already have 4.3, then you shouldn't be flashing this! Try the 4.3 thread.
Yo dude, thanks for putting together that neat package and thread.
Was gonna drop that stuff in my thread anyway. Just too busy at work these days so hadn't had a chance. Hope you don't mind if I take this or parts of it tomorrow when I update my thread.
Talk to me if that's an issue. I'll leave credits of course.

This happened to me, I ended up re downloading the drivers. Once, I did that I went ahead and continued on to doing the process. Even if it still shows offline, you can boot in to Fastboot. The volume down and power button way.. It'll come back tho, nothing to worry about. This process to 4.3 via RUU, gave me a couple issues at first, but got it working after a bit of playing around. I got my phone to a point that my bootloader wouldn't come up and I had 4 triangle exclamation points on the each 4 corners of my screen... 8)
The 4.2.2 GE RUU brought me back to life tho.
Good Luck!!

I see now. It still shouldn't matter. You should be able to use this package to get the 3.06.1700.10 bootloader files. Unless your on a non GSM One like from Sprint as I believe the partition layout is different for that phone, it should work.

did everything as stated and at the very end it says it's finished total time: 21.347 seconds, however on the phone it looks like its stuck at 99% with the green bar and when i try adb reboot bootloader it just says error device not found...
edit: just unplugged the cable and it went to the black hboot screen and i just held the power button and restarted and everything seems normal, so i think i'm still good lol

just like firmawre flashes, the greenbar won't fill 100%.
you can't adb reboot in ruu mode, you have to fastboot reboot

Big thnx for this. I've been holding off flashing a custom hboot til I saw that blackness. Very nice. It worked like a champ.
Thanks for this!
While I do get the black bootloader screen, for whatever reason, I still get a WHITE splash screen with a black unlock symbol. Weird, wonder what happened...?

Hello, I actually have a T-Mobile version of the HTC One m8 but that community seems dead and I haven't been able to find help to my problem. I am kind of getting desperate so I will tell you what I know. I have done my best to search for solutions and I feel as though I have exhausted almost every possible work around so that is why I look to you guys for help.

The issue is that the phone is in a boot loop status with an unresponsive operating system. Essentially, I cannot successfully maneuver around the file system and adjust/change settings because it is laggy/slow/unresponsive. Hi!
A friend bought a sprint version of A9. We turned it on, set up wifi, inserted sim card, then started some official update (i think it was the standard htc update in settings). The phone rebooted, and voila! no wifi, no mobile data.
When we try to enable wifi we get a "Fail to load driver, reason: Module is not compatible (8)." error. The battery level indicator shows some 3000%+ value all the time, camera does not work.
Event the phone cannot decide what version of os it has. It shows 1.57.651.1 in Settings, but when i boot to the bootloader i get OS-2.18.651.2.
I've been reading the forums for days now trying out various methods to make this phone work again, no success so far.
I've unlocked the bootloader.
So currently:
Code:
*** Software status: Official ***

this indicates, that the firmware is not updated, so i tried the original version:

htc_fastboot flash zip 1.57.651.1 ->

ok, try firmware update then:

Then i tried to install twrp, downloaded the right twrp image and flashed it to recovery, unsuccessful. I think i would need the twrp app for this, witch i later pushed to the phone, just to realize it does not work without an internet connection... Now i have no recovery mode. It just restarts the os. I've tried to flash the recovery_signed.img from the above ruu-s: successful but still does not work.
So what can i do now to get a working phone?
What happens if i try and flash the boot.img and system.img manually from the 1.57.651.1 RUU?
Any help would be apprescated...

You must use htc_fastboot.exe to flash RUU not fastboot.exe . The only ruu version that will work on your phone is 2.16.163.4 check on easy-firmware.com it's there

Okay here is a link to download the rom becuase , i just finish uploading it and its around 4gbs or so.
https://anonfile.com/E1P1E7mdbb/TWRP_zip
Steps to recover
1) First thing you should do is extract the rom, DO NOT FLASH THE ZIP FILE !!! .
2)Delete any old twrp folders in your sd card or phone storage, dont worry it will not affect the recovery itself.
3))Put the twrp folder in your device or sd card, however you can transfer it, its better if its on an sd card(make sure the folder says twrp).
4)Turn off the device and reboot into recovery.
5)Afterwards format the entire phone (Dont use factorey reset, use format data)just make sure you dont delete anything from the sd card.
6) Next go into restore or backup whatever its called and restore the rom from your sdcard, it should automatically detect the folder and if it doesnt try choosing the folder manually.
7) reboot the phone and give it sometime and if doesn't boot up after 20 minutes delete the cache or factory reset.
8) let me know if you got any questions email: [email protected]

HELP! I wasn't able to boot after a seemingly harmless TWRP hard reset(the one where it asks to writ "yes" to confirm), it kept restarting into bootloader mode, so decided to flash the ZIP that you provided in the other thread, as it wasn,t meant for 2PYB20000, i changed my MID to 2PYB10000. It flashed fine, phone turned on, but there were no cellular signals or wifi after reboot, phone doesnt shows it imei in system nor does it shows baseband version.
so far i have tried flashing a proper 2pyb20000 ruu zip, formating the persist partion, then directly rebooting to download mode and reflashing the ruu. but the issue stayed the same.
Please help me solve this issue.

Sort of did that, but flashed the latest sprint stock FW first, so had to do the whole unlocking procedure myself to get it sim unlocked. Then flashed the european latest WWE FW and flashed the Sprint radio on top of it.
Thank a lot for the help man.

Please help. I installed my twrp backup and now the sound, video playback, and the home/fingerprint sensor don't work. I guess it didn't backup right, to begin with. I really don't know. I'm new to this stuff, but its fun when it works. It's really kinda sad when it doesn't. My Mom just gave me this phone because it needed the screen replaced, but was in perfect condition otherwise and I really don't want her to know I wrecked it. I've been looking for days for a download. I pretty much understand the concept of how to make it work if I had the download. I have adb installed and working and the phone is detected.

I don't know what you are trying to do...
Just rename the file to 2PYBIMG, place in a formated fat32 microSD card, then after inserted the card to phone reboot to download mode. It will update it self!
No matter what I do it says the file is corrupt. Am I doing something wrong? I named it 2PYBIMG.zip and added it to my card but it doesn't start when I boot into download mode. I tried flashing it with twrp and it says it's corrupted.

You have TWRP, so bootloader unlocked... then, you need to lock it! You can only do this if you have security off, which is not the case here!
- fastboot oem lock ( this will relock the bootloader );
- fastboot oem rebootRUU ( switch the state to update firmware trough USB );
- fastboot flash zip 2PYBIMG.zip.
You need to verify if you don't have ex: 2PYBIMG.zip ( if that is the case, just select the file press F2 and rename it again to 2PYBIMG ).

Also, your download would not unzip, but I found the file somewhere else and bought it and it unzipped ok so I think your file is corrupted somehow. If anyone needs the file I can upload it sometime, my internet is pretty slow so I'm not sure when. But if someone sees this and needs it let me know. I'm just totally at a loss here with my phone though.

I'm sorry if I offended you. I didn't know it wouldn't open because of that. But is my phone hopeless now?

Well... this is difficult because you don't compreend some basic functions. I recomend that you search purhaps youtube or read some more on some forum. Because I alredy sent the correct file! You only need to do the steps correctly to get back the phone again.
Please, don't repost the same issue on the thread. Just send me a private message, I will respond through there.
