I do realize I need to get both the stock recovery and kernel back in order to install a OTA update and that's easy but in my case, I'd have to disable Xposed (or it's modules), revert back stock navbar with Softkeyz and even get stock GPU binaries and uninstall/disable ViPER audio fx?
Excuse my ignorance but I am a first timer on this position - also if this could be asked on a thread, I'd ask for a moderator to move it (I ran a search but would like a personal answer on this one).
Bump, can anyone give me a solid answer?
Guys?.. (spam is unintentional, it's a simple question)
If you deleted apps or did mods to your build.props download your firmware from http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=14, you can find your firmware in "Settings" "About" "System Version" once you see it find the same version in the link i gave you and download it. Extract it to your folder that has fastboot and mfastboot and just flash the system.img, NOTE: to this while in bootloader mode. Example: mfastboot flash system system.img If you have other mods such as modifying systemui then find someone to upload stock ui so you can replace. If you don't know how to revert back to stock kernel in the same zip firmware you downloaded move the boot.img into your fastboot and mfastboot folder and open command window here and type in fastboot flash boot boot.img. This will give you stock kernel as well.

Thanks.
I see but I didn't remove or modded anything, only the stuff mentioned above. Just wondering if I'd have to flash the firmware again.

Just to be safe just flash the system.img and the stock recovery and boot.img and you should be good to go. I have a moto X and all i flashed was stock recovery, system.img and disabled xposed and was able to flash my 4.4.3 ota via stock recovery.
Please help
I have a gionee pioneer p3 and I got it stucked in a boot loop while trying to install a custom font after rooting it with no custom recovery tool installed. I downloaded the phone's stock firmware from needrom but discovered the firmware for gionee p3 on that site is corrupt as I couldn't extract the zip file to my desktop. I downloaded a custom rom and after flashing it using SP flash tool, my phone won't even boot anymore, the phone just remains dead like there's no battery in it. But when I connect to sp flash tool, it recognises my phone so I think its a firmware issue or a problem with the bootloader. I want to know if its possible to copy the firmware from a working gionee p3 and use it to flash my bricked phone, if it is, please I need guide on how to do this cos I really want my phone back to its stock rom. If not, any other solution will be much appreciated. I need my phone up and running again please help.
As you mentioned, the ROM you downloaded earlier might be corrupted. Since flash tool recognizes your phone, i think you should try to download a new firmware and try to flash it via flash tool.

Thats my problem, i cant find the firmware anywere else as every other site still links me to the same file i downloaded earlier which is corrupt. That is why i want to know if its possible to copy the firmware from a working phone and use it to flash the dead phone or if i can be taught how tocreate a scatter file for one of the custom roms i have, i'l be grateful. Getting the firmware is my biggest problem. Thanks for your time and help.

You need to flash the apropriate KitKat Bootloader for your Phone through Odin. By apropriate I mean 4.4.4 Bootloader for SM-N915P. You can search Google or download your Firmware from sammobile.com or sth. Then in Odin > BL > select your downloaded Bootloader and after it's done you can flash any KitKat firmware or ROM from recovery.
Hope it helps

Hello, Thanks for this information. I have the 4.4.4 Firmware for SM-915P downloaded but when flashing with Odin i normally use AP or PDA to flash, i never thought of using BL(bootloader) to flash the firmware. I'm gonna try using your suggested method once i get back home and i would post a reply back to you. I truly appreciate it.

NO YOU SHOULDNT. Dude you gotta flash the BOOTLOADER FIRST or it's NOT GOING TO WORK. Open your firmware with WINRAR or sth like that, find the bootloader, boot.img or sth flash through BL and THEN flash firmware through AP / PDA. You had it right all along, but you need to flash KITKAT Bootloader first

Hello again, I tried exactly what you told me to do but still says failed. I downloaded stock kitkat (4.4.4) Firmware, then in Odin > BL > and selected the 4.4.4 firmware. I've attached a picture.
But if you're just talking about just only SM-915P "bootloader" file for kitkat and not the actual full firmware, then it is not present on sammobile.com or on any place with google search. The only bootloader file i found was for the international version (SM-915F) http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-edge/development/n915f-kitkat4-4-4bootloader-tar-unlock-t3063928http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...15f-kitkat4-4-4bootloader-tar-unlock-t3063928, even XDA website don't have the bootloader for SM-915P. :crying:
I've been trying for weeks, trust me. And i feel like i've reached a dead end and stuck with lollipop OS that i don't like.

Yes, i opened the firmware with WINRAR and no bootloader file present. I downloaded it from sammobile.com. Even after extraction no boot.img present in the file. Picture below.
You gotta go deeper...

The firmware file you've opened with winrar contains ANOTHER COMPRESSED FILE (the actual firware that's going to be flashed). You have to go deeper. Double-Click on that file ('blabla'.tar.md5). wait a while until you can see its contents in winrar and THERE YOU WILL FIND (among others):
* aboot.mbn
* NON-HLOS.bin
* rpm.mbn
* sbl1.mbn
* sdi.mbn
* tz.mbn
Extract all of the above files >
compress them in a .tar file using 7zip or another program >
flash ONLY THIS FILE through Odin | BL >
when its done flash firmware through AP / PDA
p.s. : If you cannot flash the .zip firmware then extract and flash the .tar.md5 file inside. AFTER you've flashed the bootloader

I was so impatient that i opened up a new thread on how to extract a file with winrar. I feel so stupid now. I should have waited for a reply from you first. I guess we still learn everyday. I appreciate the time and effort you're putting in this thread to walk me through. I'm forever grateful and thank you so much. I will do exactly what you mentioned and post a reply afterwards on the result. Thanks again.

yes you are...
inside the .tar file you created there is a folder that contains the actual files to be flashed. That's wrong. Don't compress a folder, just the files

Do you have any suggestions? Or can you link me to a kitkat bootloader i can download, like the one you use for yourself. I don't know if this is a Sprint note edge issue because all other variants of the note edge seems to downgrade back to kitkat.
Lollipop just have too many issues like the one you also posted about the phone heating up badly, that happens to my note edge too. Battery draining like no tomorrow, it's just ridiculous.
I just wanna go back to kitkat.
Thanks again.
okay so my Samsung tab3 lite was rooted but I did something and now it is stuck in CWM-based Recovery v6.0.4.8 and I have the basic android ROM downloaded on my computer and not sure how to fix this problem Is it possible for me to put the ROM on my sd card then install zip on my tablet? I have tired odin but it can never find my ROM
Any help would be amazing!
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. You are on the right track to Odin the stock firmware to get your device working again. But you need the stock firmware, not a rom zip. If you've downloaded the stock firmware it does download in a zip format but you need to extract that so you end up with a .tar.md5 file. Use that in Odin. Also see this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-3. It's the forum for the tab 3 and does have some information for the lite version.

Have you extracted the firmware zip? Use winrar or 7-zip. You need to use a .tar.md5 file in Odin. That's what you'll get if you extract the stock firmware .zip. Use that in the PDA or AP slot in Odin, depending on what version of Odin you're using. See this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...08-2013-odin-3-09-odin-1-85-versions-t2189539

I got the md5 file and got it in odin and clicked start and then a couple minutes later it said failed and now my tablet only says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & Try again" so I went to kies and went to Emergency Firmware Recovery tab under tools but it can not find my device
OK, XDA Assist is a forum to point you in the right direction and not to solve your issue. So I'd ask here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-3/help. But use the usb ports in the back of your computer, 2.0 and not 3.0, and try different usb cables. Odin can be finicky.
Where can I find vbmeta image of installed stock rom???
there is only one version of vbmeta.img for each device, so id just go look for the stock firmware zip and unpack it if you need that file
give this a read, it might help
