IMEI Unknown, even flashing EFS backup won't help - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hello there, when I decided that I wanted to change my ROM from the TGP ROM to my old backuped Resurrection Remix ROM I've saw that my IMEI code was unknown. I have made couple of TWRP backups of my EFS partition, but restoring it from there won't help. When I installed the TGP ROM, I also installed through the Aroma installer the new Modem and Bootloader. Could've that been the problem. Should I stay away from the ROM since it used the old Modem/Bootloader?

First thing you need to do is get your imei back or the phone is useless. Flash current stock and hope for the best.
I have never experienced this problem and I've flashed hundreds of devices. When I flash a new rom I flash as is off the developer and leave aroma options at default. Once the rom is working then I mod afterwards

I had also similar problem
I had lost my emei and baseband
I'm sure this guide will save your time and also give your imei number back

Error Status 7 (device name doesn't match) in Custom Rec when trying to install zips

Hello! Recently purchased a used (but like new) S Relay off of Ebay. It came with 4.1.2 already installed.
Basically let me tell you a brief backstory: I started off by installing Custom Recovery (CWM PhilZ 6.07) using ODIN and backing a NANDroid Backup. Then flashed KitKat CM 11 from CWM (wanted to try it out but didn't like it more than Jellybean). So I restored my backup via custom recovery.
Then I tried unlocking the sim network from T-mobile so I can use this phone when I travel abroad (using the method in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2255892 ). But apparently I found this doesn't work except on the stock Ice Cream Sandwich rom. So I flashed the LH1 stock rom using ODIN. Then I did the unlock method and it appeared successful. (it recognized an AT&T sim I have without asking for an unlock code)
So long story short, I used the custom recovery again to restore to my stock version of 4.1.2 Jellybean. But my baseband version is still LH1. I want to update it to UVMA2. I tried using a zip to update it from LH1 to UVMA2. But it always fails and aborts. It gives me Error Status 7. Which from google apparently means the device name doesn't match the one on the zip package.
I also try installing other minor packages. Which all incur the same error 7. So I'm not really sure if I'm just a really stupid beginner. Or if I've messed something up when I went to Kitkat and back. Or perhaps when I downgraded to 4.0 to unlock the network....
I tried using this ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2302599 ) guide to fix the packages by removing the initial device name check. Yet it still fails/aborts before trying to install.
Any help or insights for this beginner would be greatly appreciated, thank you
Edit: The device name should be "apexqtmo" apparently...
Was able to flash to UVBMC5 baseband. Is that perhaps the latest version? It appears to be one of the most recent from google.

Why is my custom kernel being lost after flashing a new rom?

Hi all. I'm a bit of a noob who just really started digging into custom roms and rooting this month. A friend helped me root Lollipop when I first got this phone and I've been putting off updating to marshmallow for 6 months, but learned how over the past weekend and I'm loving it! Small problem, though, and I don't know if it's even a real one, but here it is. After all is said and done flashing the XstreStoLite 3.3.1 rom and Aroma add on pack, everything works fine, but the arter97 kernel is no longer listed as the active kernel, even though in XstreStoLite's settings when presented with the overwrite kernel option I always selected No. Is there a reason this is happening? Can I just reflash the kernel now, and is it safe to do so without brick in the phone? Does this rom or any other necessary apps/root features require the custom kernel? Thanks! This was my process in getting my phone up and running:
Factory reset
Flash stock 6.0.1 with Odin
Flash arter97 recovery with Odin
Recovery mode to flash arter97 kernel and superSU
Flash XstreStoLite in recovery, factory reset
Flash aroma addon
Additional random question I had: at what point, if any, should I be flashing the custom bootloader and modem, and does a factory reset/cache wipe delete those or is it one and done? Thank you!
The bootloader and modem flashing is needed if you want to move from 5.x lollipop to 6.x marshmallow.
If you are allready on 6.x there is no need.
If you lost your custom kernel you can reflash it in twrp and after wipe cache/dalvik cache.
If you flash the corect version of kernel the is no problem of softbrick.
Flash a 6.x kernel on a 6.x rom

Trying to find the ROM I used from last year

Hi Guys,
I had a 6.0.1 MM custom ROM (found here in the ROM section) installed on my Galaxy S7 SM-930F last year. I made a TWRP backup prior to upgrading to Nougat however stupid me I have forgotten a folder to manually back up when I was on MM. I've tried to downgrade and restore using TWRP to no avail.. it would say the restore is complete and stay stuck on the Samsung logo. My nanadroid backup ends with G930FXXU1APGH so I searching the ROM section of XDA forum to see if I can go back to what I installed as it appears I have no record of the ROM I downloaded here so I can restore the backup successfully. The backup I am trying to restore is from TWRP 3.0.0 and I am now using a 3.1.1
My questions are:
1.) Do I need to be on the same exact build number of Marshmallow for the TWRP restore to work? (I've tried older/newer TWRP/different build # for Marshmallow)
2.) Is there a best way to find out which custom rom I installed last year (search function?)? All I know is that my backup ends with G930FXXU1APGH so that build # is the only lead I have to search through the forum
3.) Restoring the backup always leads to a stuck Samsung logo. I've tried different TWRP, rooted and gone to Nougat/MM and restoring from there, cleared data/factory settings/cache etc. Any other suggestions?
Thank you for your help.

There is an Option in Aroma Installer of TGP Rom
"Make EFS Backup"
