You sure about it being encrypted? I mean maybe I was seeing things but I'm sure I found many files that were readable plain text. Then again maybe only a portion is encrypted... I didn't look that long either so...

Unfortunately the only model that can be unlocked right now is the European one and version 10z still doesn't exist (maybe a typo?)
Any chans u have the 10k unmodified boot?
Could you do a system dump of the V40? I see you did the vendor for the V40.

I don't have the v40. The vendor is from autoprime.

First of all, thank you heaps LameMonster82, you are an absolute champion!!. I was searching for hours to find a kdz file for G710EM10p and your posting was the only one I found. For some reason the "thaks" buttob isn't visible to me.. maybe because I'm a new member.
I thought I could be helpful by listing the different KDZ files which are in your google drive folder so other people can find them while searching through google like I was.
In the above link from LameMonster82 there are following KDZ files for the LM-G710EM (European) variant of the LG G7 :
G710EM10b
G710EM10f
G710EM10k
G710EM10p
For the LG V40:
V405UA10c
V405UA10l
To install the KDZ file follow the guide here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g7-thinq/how-to/guide-how-to-flash-stock-firmware-lock-t3820888
Thanks again
I am having problem downloading G710EM10p kdz file, is there perhaps an alternative download link?

Download manages to get to 1 GB and then it drastically slows down and eventually fails. Via a download manager the farthest I got was 1,5 GB: although the download manager continued to download (it downloaded ~5 GB of data), the file was only 1,5 GB.

Doesn't seem to be something from me. Maybe Google's server are acting up or youre using your phone to download it. If you're using a phone it will sometimes do that. Try downloading another file and if not find a 10p version here: https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-lmg710em-firmwares/#tab=firmwares
I managed to download it! It went fine this time, I did not change anything on my side.
Thanks!
Btw, what is system_b.image? I cannot find anything of it on my phone.

It's the system partition but it's empty because when you install an update the system copies there. A/B support
Is it possible to extract any of the system apk files from the image without it being flashed?

Of course. You just need a 7Zip or WinRAR to open the image and fish it out

Actually, I have unpacked G7's kdz and there's 4.4 GB system_b image. When I mount it, I see bunch of odex and vdex files. I can't see where are those in my phone.

Odex and vdex files? Never heard of them. The image should still have a size but filled with 0.

I personally don't know but you can ask in the dedicated OP8 forum: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-8

If you're speaking of the vendor specific device drivers then those all are contained in vendor.img you mentioned.
How to extract them is shown in this video:

i checked TheMuppets github page and looked at the blobs for the OnePlus 7/7T and i saw similarities between what i had extracted from the vendor.img using 7zip, but there seems to be a lot more data in the vendor img i extracted (1GB) than what is on the github page. i feel like i have no choice but to go ahead with what i have got, and hope it works..
i checked out the video you linked in full and the way he does it is with vendor file extract shell scripts through adb. he admits that because its not for the same specific phone (or something similar) not all files will be included but that it'll be close. i want to ensure the phone is going to work completely so i have taken that video and what im going to do is match my extracted vendor.img files to the content on the phone, and find a way to adb pull everything to see if i can find exact similarity. then hopefully i can move forward with inputting the kernal and getting a beautiful build. if i cannot adb pull everything then i will tediously go through the directories.
i withhold giving advice to other people until my own success can be measured, but i dont seem like the only individual to have issues and i will report instructions and the level of success if and when reached. thank you for your help!

okay so i obtained a root adb instance, and i copied the vendor folder on there and everything else for the sake of learning that was pullable. i came across 2 vendor folders, /vendor, and /system/vendor. They both were the same size, but much, much bigger than the vendor.img i pulled from a system update. i want to double check, should i use the vendor files that were on my phone versus the OTA update vendor.img extraction?

/vendor is vendor.img and the size discrepancy is normal. The IMG can be quite a bit larger than the actual data itself. I would use the ones that you pull from the device. Make sure you look at the other GitHub mentioned because there may be files outside of /vendor that are required for the system to work.

I would look for the script extract_files.sh. Is that what you are using or are you trying to pull them one by one?

try renaming the file to a different extension. like zip, mp3, or mp4 etc. it can be possible that the file extension is not correctly set by the creator.

Only have mbn file for flash, need xml and patch file

Hello,
I found a mbn file for the Pixel 4a over here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/flashed-pixel-4a-with-pixel-5-image-by-mistake.4267097/.
My Pixel is hard bricked so I'm trying to revive it. I'm using QFIL. However, I apparently need an additional xml file and a patch file for it to work. I can't seem to find that. Can someone help?

I can give you an example of what the xml file looks like, but don't have the specific one for a 4a. Additionally, you don't need a patch file, if qfil insists there has to be one, just create valid xml and put nothing else in it, and call it patch xml.
I'm curious though, when u put the device in edl mode and connect with qfil and use the mbn file to access it, can you get to partition manager and do something like 'read data' to backup a partition?
If u can't do that, then no xml can help you.
cheers
