Hello everyone,
I purchased a used google pixel from eBay about a month ago, and I have used it happily ever since, until this past saturday. I use my device with 2 bluetooth devices constantly, a medical device (dexcom) that connects every 5 minutes, and a raspberry pi, which is always connected via bluetooth tethering. I had very reliable connections to both devices 24/7, until suddenly I started getting the message: 'Bluetooth keeps stopping.'

whenever this happened, it would turn off bluetooth tethering and then turn off bluetooth altogether. I would try to press the bluetooth icon to turn it back on, but it would aggressively turn it back off again. After several frustrating minutes, it would sometimes go back to normal and work just fine for 2 minutes-8 hours. But this error started appearing more and more often, to the point that my devices became useless, because they were never connected to my phone for a reasonable amount of time (and even then only because I was manually turning bluetooth back on over and over.)
I...
tried changing the dexcom app settings
tried forgetting dexcom device then re-pairing
tried turning off bluetooth tethering
tried turning off the raspberry pi
tried clearing the bluetooth cache
tried clearing bluetooth data
tried restarting the device more times than I can count
nothing at all worked. per the suggestion of one of my developer friends, I ran adb tools on my computer to see what was going on in the HCI bluetooth logs. According to what he said, it looks like it is trying to connect to Bluetooth headset service, failing, crashing, and disconnecting from all bluetooth devices. We decided to eliminate all variables, it would be best to factory reset the device and carefully install only my important medical apps first, then slowly any other apps over a period of days to see if the culprit became obvious.
So I performed a factory reset. I logged into my wifi, then was about to log into google, when...
the same message, popping up constantly, after a factory reset!
at this point I was almost convinced it was a hardware problem, until I heard some others have had the same issue due to their android version. But I have used 9.0 Pie ever since I got the phone, so that still doesn't make sense to me.
Please let me know if you have any solutions, ideas, or suggestions. If you want more screenshots, more information, or anything like that then please ask and I will try to post it. Thank you.
edit: since I am a new user, the image links aren't working. Basically, they both say
'Bluetooth keeps stopping
(i) App info
(x) Close app
(!) Send feedback'
edit 2: I also tried rebooting in safe mode, still getting the same 'bluetooth has stopped' message
I'm having the same exact problem on my daughters phone
Guys, I had this problem, I found the "solution" to the floating bluetooth error message, but I can't activate it since it starts to fail again.
What I did was the following: activate and deactivate the bluetooh from the notification panel, waiting for at least 5 notifications of bluetooth error to come out, then blocked the cell phone for a few minutes and I can use it quietly. By the way, you should not restart it or turn it off or it will fail again.
I was also having the problem. I tried everything. Still not right.
You have to report the issue to LineageOS GitLab issues. Apparently dozens of users are having the bluetooth issue with latest version LineageOS 16.0 but now with older versions.
I'm having the same problem with my Pixel phone as well. Has anyone figured out away to stop the error yet? Is it software that could be fixed by reverting back to an old version of Android. Mine started right after updating to Android 10. Any ROMS that eliminate the problem? I'd be happy with just being able to turn off Bluetooth so that I don't get the error.
Try flashing stock rom again, in case some weird bluetooth driver need to be installed on some hidden partition.

I am looking for something similar to what Hitchhicker is supposed to do, but without the Hitchhiker's problems on WM6. For me, it was completely unreliable, left tons of connection settings behind in the registry etc etc.
All i want is an ability to find a public/open WiFi network with internet access and connect to it in a single tap.
Any ideas ?
I use WeFi- Free and works like charm. Also can start programms after it connected.
I start Palringo (Free multi Messanger)
I read about WeFi here, the reason i never tried it was this:

Same thing as with the previous version.
It scrambled my wifi settings I had to make a hard reset (Asus P535, WM6).

Can you tell me what particular version seems to work on Polaris ?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: i am currently backing up to try the latest version myself, will report here later today
First report about WeFi:
It seems to erase all your normal (WZC) WiFi settings without asking, including the WEP/WPA keys. And KEEP ERASING those every start.
It would not connect to my own home WiFi (secured, WPA2+PSK, AES) despite having correct the key entered in it's dialog.
After manually connecting using the normal utility, while WeFi still running in the background, it "tested" the hostspot, and found it to have internet connectivity. After that, it reported 1 user being connected on that hot spot (me) ! What this means is, it certainly tells some of the hotspot details (SSID) to it's server. The question is, would it also share the key with every other user on the planet ? If it would, this would be completely unacceptable !!!
One positive thing about it, somehow, it managed to reconfigure the WZC on Polaris to connect to any open hotspot available (good for me), even when the program isn't running (no, i didn't forget to shut it's today plugin down). This is probably some registry setting unknown to us. I'll try fishing it out and report.
EDIT: sorry, my mistake, it didn't really reconfigure WZC, it got some processes installed, running at the background, that i missed :-(
Just in case someone may want to know this, the part of WeFi that seems to do the "auto-connect to any open network" thing, but not the internet connectivity probing, is the WeFiSrv.exe, that seems to require Comm.DLL, Engine.dll, Hessian.dll, OpenNETCF.dll, Prot.DLL, Util.dll and Win.dll to run
as well.
EDIT: WeFiSrv.exe seems to be responsible for deleting the existing "normal" WiFi settings too. As well as responsible for eating a big chunk of RAM while running.
EDIT2: same app also responsible for screwing up the settings
Conclusion: unless you are going to connect to unprotected WiFi hotspots ONLY, this program, or any parts of it, isn't really an option.
Any other suggestions ?
I have been using win 6.5 on a kaiser (att tilt) for the last 2 weeks and have been battling problems with Wifi.
The problem is that after a soft reset, when I go to wireless lan settings and click on the "Change Network" button, I don't get a list of wireless networks. Wifi is turned on, and I do have many valid SSIDs nearby to link to.
Image 1) This is the Wlan Setting screen

}
Image 2) This is what I see from "Change Network".
Notice that the tabs along the bottom of the screen are missing
I originally tried using WIFI Monster and a couple other programs to find networks and link. They could show networks but couldn't seem to get an IP address.
Finally I tried assigning a static IP address and *POOF* all the problems went away, even when I went back to getting a DHCP address.
Image 3) This is the screen you get from pressing "Edit" on Image 2
Image 4) I enter an IP address (doesn't matter what it is).
I press "OK" twice.
Image 5) This is now what pressing "Change Network" takes me to
I can now select networks, link, and browse via WiFi.
WIFI Monster and others now work correctly as well.
Image 6) This is the same as Image 2 after setting an static IP and returning to DHCP
Things I've tried to fix the problem
I've tried clearing all wlan settings but a soft reset repeats the problem
I have tried 5 different radios and they all show the same problem so I don't think it's radio related
I've tried 4 different WM 6.5 roms with cores 21232, 21234, and 21812. All seem to have the same problem.
I've used Task manager to look at running EXEs, Services, and Devices before and after fixing the problem, but I see nothing added or removed.
I've spent several hours trying different search variations on these boards looking for similar problems, but either my search skills suck, or no one is describing the problem with the same terms I'm using.
If I can't find a solution to the soft reset issue, it isn't a huge deal because I have a work around, it's just annoying. And I thought others might want to know the work around I'm using.
I finally figured out what was causing the problem.
Sprite Terminator
If I never install Sprite Terminator, or if I uninstall Sprite Terminator, then I never see this problem. I made sure I had the latest version of Sprite Terminator v1.2.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Worked for me as well I had exactly the same problem.Sprite Terminator 1.2.0 Build 186. After returning to DHCP all is working fine!
THANKS!
OK not everything is as it should be. The change to static IP and then back to DHCP will get me fixed only for as long as I do not reset/powerdown the device. After that the procedure has to be repeated to get it working again.
Finally..
Thankyou so much !! I done hard reset my i780 for many times for this problem, patch new wifi driver, and give up to explore registry ..and finally..I can smile again
LOL
COOL i have this same problem and it worked for me, but only one problem e dont have sprite terminator installed, at least i think not.
Anyone noticed with another programs?
At least i can get the wifi working, at least until i do a soft reset ,thank you for sharing
I have a similar problem, only that the Wi-Fi works, but not showing the correct icon on the worksheet in the Home screen .. somebody has the same problem? Ask! Please write directly to the address: [email protected]
Thank...
After the 2.3.2 update, I thought everything was fine. Guess not.
Phone restarted in the middle of a phone call. What the dilly yo
I manually updated to 2.3.2, but never did faced your problem.
I heard some did but before 2.3.2, as I think it shouldve been resolved by it.
Backup and softreset and see, recovery or so.
Happened to me yesterday. Oddly enough, this was the first time it happened, and was AFTER I installed the 2.3.2 update.
This is discussed in other threads already...
The 2.3.2 update does not address the random reboots, or the reboots during calls. Google is still working on a fix for that specific problem.
The problem seems to be really random overall...some people have it frequently, others not all, some rarely. I've only had it twice, and both times only while on 2.3.1.
If you search the forum here, you'll find a thread or two with links to the Google Help Forum topic where romainguy from Google talks about the problem.
EDIT: Apparently they've found the fix, according to this post: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Google+Mobile/thread?tid=1b777a366748b64f&start=194
Expect an OTA in a couple of weeks.
i had it only twice
but that was because i was overloading the poor thing, with trying to do too many things simultaneously
and when it can't cope with how fast i click around stuff, and how many apps i launch and use all at the same time, it just reboots
it's not hard to reproduce
just go like a maniac and start launching apps left and right, and pull up info, make a call, send SMS, browse the web, download stuff, etc, etc
and it'll reboot as soon as it hangs
it's like a SUPER Force Close

LOL!
I'm pretty sure my two reboots weren't under such extreme circumstances...phone just sitting idle for a while, got a phone call, call reboots 5-15 minutes into the middle of the call.
Even so, your experience makes me wonder if just tweaking the memory management on the phone with something like AutoKiller app might help those who are having the issue more often than others. (Note that autokiller is NOT a task killer, it's poorly named. It's a way to tweak the minfree settings on the phone and let the Android built-in system still handle what's killed or not.)

ok... if that's the case, no, i've yet to see the phone reboot on its own
i've had some 30ish min calls and no reboot
P.S. this issue is covered in another topic tagged as [BUG] http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=880497
please continue on the original topic, thx

Hello Guys!
Introduction:
Two Days ago i got my SmartWatch 2 delivered. Im impressed by the design and the handling, and fell instantly in love with it.
But i invested 4 hours yesterday, and today another 6, and tried every workaround i found, and something above that, but nothing worked so far.
Problem:
If the SmartWatch 2 is freshly flashed with the actual Firmware through the Sony-Tool on my laptop, it paires instantly with my Smartphone. Then
it gets an "update" from the Smartwatch 2 App (i only installed that and the Smart connect App from Sony).
And after that it connects one time for a few Seconds (from 5 to 30second; i dont really understand why thats sometimes different), if im lucky it updates the things i changed in the SmartWatch 2 App (Watchface and Background), then disonnects and stays like that.
I can wait for hours (did that too), and it never says "SmartWatch 2 - Connected).
A (not real) workaround:
If i restart the Watch, it connects after the boot, stays connected for the already mentioned 5 to 30 seconds and disconnects.
During the active Connection i can switch Watchfaces and install Programs, if im fast enough. During that period the SmartWatch 2 Apps are also functioning (for example, i got it to show me the weather on the SmartWatch 2).
Whats functioning:
The SmartWatch 2 itself functions as it were alone. The Time is correct and running, i can set Alarms, use the Calculator and so on.
But none of the Apps is working. (logical because they cant function without a connection)
Whats not functioning:
If i unpair both, i cant pair them again. The Smartphone asks for a Pin or Key i cant enter on the SmartWatch 2.
I have to flash the SmartWatch 2 again (a normal reset, or the 15sec-Reset wont help).
And a lasting connection... the main problem...
My Smartphone:
Asus zenfone 6, brand new, Stock JB 4.3, Bluetooth 4
What i did for now:
- did a Complete Wipe and Reset of my zenfone 6
- disconnected and reconnected Bluetooth in different order (First SmartWatch 2, then Smartphone, then the other way around, and so on)
- reflashed and paired with a Samsung Galaxy S5 (Stock KitKat, NFC, Bluetooth 4) - same result
- reflashed and paired with a Acer Liquid S1 Duo (Stock JB 4.2, Bluetooth 3) - same result
Unconventional:
- rooted my Zenfone 6, installed root browser, switched per build.prop from "user" to "eng"
- edited auto_pair_devlist and added "Smart" to "partialnameblacklist", hoping it would help automatically connecting the SmartWatch 2. But it didnt helped, so i switched that back.
Sooooo... maybe im overseeing (is that in any way correct? *g* im not a native speaker...) something very easy... So does any of you got some kind of idea what im missing???
I totally want that Watch to work. I totally want to work it with my zenfone 6. Im guessing it maybe have something to do with the energy Management of Bluetooth in general (because it connects first, its functioning, but then kicks me out).
Or, worse, its because Android switched from "bluez" to "bluedroid"... but isnt there anyone out there with a functioning SmartWatch 2 on Android 4.3?
Or maybe i just have to switch the 4 files out of "system/etc/bluetooth" with the one out of a functioning Smartphone with 4.3 (where someone of you guys could help me with ).
Anyway, thanks in Advance, and here a few Photos/Screenshots for visualizing the Problem.

I also have problems when pairing.
For me the only workaround is to pair the watch directly after restarting the phone to factory settings (dont even run the google welcome assistant!) and then it will pair correctly. after wards you can install all the stuff
I had this problem aswell, for me, it eventually just went away, after t flashed a few roms, not specifically for the watch.
I do have an annoying and weird problem with connecting to Wifi networks since updating to Android 5.0
When mobile data is on, I cannot connect to any wifi network, I only get this symbol

, it does not switch to wifi , instead internet still uses the cellular network.
Only when I turn of mobile data, it does connect to wifi as it should. The weird thing is that this happens in every ROM I have tried, stock 5.0.0, cm12 unofficial, 5.0.1, now 5.0.2, different kernels , same thing.
I never had any problems like this with Android 4.4.4
Go to Settings, Developer Options and see if "Aggressive WiFi to Cellular Handover" is checked. If yes, uncheck it and report back.

I wonder if carrier APN settings could have something to do with it... I don't know enough to help you much... It definitely is a weird problem.
Can you try borrowing a friend's SIM card and see if it works? It would have to be from a different carrier but that's all I can think of...

Thanks for the help, I will try it with a different sim card later, but if this is true, how did it only become a problem since using Android 5.0 and not before?
That, zsajak, astounds me... Although I've seen that lollipop is better at getting automatic APN settings than KitKat was...
I tried it with a different sim card from a friend, who has also a nexus 5 running lollipop where everything is working fine.
Tried his simcard, the same problem on my phone, it does not connect to WiFi as long as mobile data is on.
Damn, man. And his Nexus 5 works fine on your router? I'm at loss...
Yes, connects instantly to WiFi, no problems whatsoever
Hello guys, I would like to ask for help. I have Nexus 7 2013 and all of a sudden since yesterday I am not able to connect to WiFi. I can turn on the WiFi I can see list of networks I can connect but after 3-5 seconds I got disconnected and after that I am not able to connect to that network. I got message "failed to connect to network" My tablet is now unusable..
I searched some tips but none was working. Would you please be able to advise what could have happen? Again with me this happened shortly after Android Lollipop 5.0.1 was applied on tablet.
Also I have tried to start internet over bluetooth - I created bluetooth conenction over my android phone (running 4.1.1) and nexus was not able to connect over bluetooth to my phone to get the internet... both were paired... I have tried with other tablet (running 4.4.4) and it was able to connect
Thank you for all your help.
