'App Shortcuts' Widget Issues - Samsung Gear S2

Greetings!
I know I am a bit late to the party, but I only just decided to get a Gear S2 to give this whole smart watch thing a try.
For the most part, I am excited and pretty happy with it.
I do have one problem, though and would appreciate some assistance.
I have enabled the 'App Shortcuts' widget, and edited it with my chosen apps. However, every so often the individual apps (icons) I have selected on the widget change, to other apps. This happens at least a couple of times a day, leaving me having to constantly edit the widget and put back my own apps (icons).
Is there perhaps something I am doing wrong?
Thanks!

[Q] Disable icons from automatically adding to home screen

Alright guys, I have to ask because this is driving me crazy. Is it new to honeycomb or is it an asus add-on that put an icon on the home screen for everything downloaded from the Android Market (Amazon Appstore doesn't do it). I have used ASUS, Launcher Pro, and ADW as my launchers, and they all do it. I keep my default launcher home clean only to be plagued with messages every time I install an app saying "No Room Available On Homescreen" because unwillingly, android is still adding them to each launcher's homescreen even when they're not running.
I've force-closed each while not in use and tested, and they still add. Its driving me crazy, how do I make it stop?
ALso, does anyone else find "Refresh failed" messaging popping up randomly?
In the Market navigate to "my apps" then hit the menu butto in the top right. There should be an option there to add shortcut for new apps, just uncheck it and presto no more annoying shortcuts. As for the refresh, yep I get it every once in a while when my weather tries to update. Haven't figured that one out yet, although I read a thread somewhere that had that fixed. Don't quote me on that as I have been busy with my Evo 3D the last few days and haven't kept up here.
Ohhh man thank you so much. I'd gone through the menu in Market before, but didn't think they'd change it up under my apps!
No worries, glad to help

[Q] Getting widgets to agree with launchers (Nova Prime & S-planner)

I was wondering if there was a way to get all widgets to be availible on an non-stock launcher. I am using the Nova Prime launcher, and widgets for Samsung's S-Planner are not showing up in the list of available widgets. Anybody know a way to get full access to all my widgets, on this launcher (I don't have any plans to switch to another launcher)?
(The device is unrooted, if that's relevant.)
If you figure anything out please feel free to share, I've been trying to get my ****ing swidgets to work with now for a long time
Sent from my GT-N8010 using xda app-developers app
I believe they only work on the touchwiz launcher, even if you have touchwiz installed.

I guess our best bet, is for all of us to keep messaging Samsung, until they recognize that enough people want this capability, that they should work at getting it to happen. Another, that comes to mind, is to seek out a ROM, that could allow that compatibility.
For immediate purposes, I imagine that some app developer(s) have discovered this royal pain of incompatibility, and was smart enough to realize that:
A) Very few people actually keep the launcher on their devices as stock
B) Samsung is undisputed as the current most popular Android-device manufacturer, with the highest number of users & sales,
So they released what would pretty much be a clone of these Samsung apps, but with more universal compatibility to other apps. I will browse the market when I have the time. I will, and ask that other users do as well, post the best/most similar/user-friendly/useful/blah of these finding.
otherwise, we may have to set the stupid touchwiz as our default (if we prefer and wish to regularly utilize Samsung's S-planner & other launcher-picky S-widgets) and have the touchwiz default homepages remain relatively uncluttered, except for these widgets, obviously. Then put in an app icon to switch to the launcher you actually prefer most.
OR
I just did a search in the google app market for "launcher switcher". There seems to be a semi-decent number of apps to help make it easy to toggle between the use of 2+ different launchers. Again, no time for me to test them out at the moment. Will also try to report back with anything promising... this is getting to be an annoying obstacle. lol.
If, like me, you mostly just want to be able to be able to keep on top of your S-planner to-do's, & don't have a great need for that apps menu that pops out of the side when you take out your S-pen, then change the s-pen settings, so that S-planner appears whenever the pen is detached.
I just remembered I could change it. for me this is GREAT because I never used that pen-apps popup. Also, I have really bad A.D.D., alongside O.C.D. . The result is that I constantly do ocd things, like put a lot of time into making detailed lists of things to do for the day, and set a stopwatch counter to track how long a task takes me to finish, but then I Always get distracted to the point, that All the time i put into countless overboard ocd attempts to keep on top of things, become completely worthless, because I have great difficulty keeping up any platform consistently. I feel like Sisyphus, rolling the giant bolder up the hill, and having it always roll back down. Anyways, on my Note tablet, I use the S-Pen more often than I use my finger, so for me, This works well.

I guess we all are to some extent or we wouldn't be on this forum reading things like this...

Samsung My Places alternative

I honestly hate Samsung's launcher, but I've been stuck with it since I got my Note 5 because well, it was the only one that supports Samsung's nifty My Places feature, which auto mutes my phone when I get to school and unmutes it when I leave. It's a really handy widget on the home screen that also happens to have next-to-no noticeable impact on battery life.
On the Note 5, Samsung's TW launcher was the ONLY launcher that supports it, not so on the S7. Nova can see and add it to home now, and so can a variety of other launchers. However, Nova drains way too much battery in idle in my experience, so my other alternative is Google Now. But GNow launcher CAN'T SEE the widget for some strange reason beyond me, so i can't add it to home screen. Now i would like to find an alternative to this service that works great and sips battery. Anyone got suggestions?
Maybe IFTTT?
Nice suggestion, but pretty much overkill for me, I don't automate the sending of messages or reminders, or if I want I do so from within my messaging or reminder app. The My Places was simple, elegant and effective for displaying appropriate 'most used' shortcuts in it's panel, based on location. I could go to Sams Club and have my Grocery List app, my messaging app and the Sams Club Scan & Go app apppear on my home screen and then go away after I left that location and be replaced with my "out and about" app and settings choices, then when I reached home - another group plus settings controls apply. So damned handy to have what I needed, where and when I needed it. Nice going to the theater and not having to bother with turning off a ringer etc. As I arrive at the location, it has already been done.
Any luck?
Curious if you've found a replacement yet?

OMG these icons...

Okay... Please forgive me folks, but this is driving me bat**** crazy. I've looked everywhere in the settings where it "made sense" to look for this setting, but nothing... How do I turn off these stupid number indicators?
You could change launchers, that's what I did on my wife's phone since she didn't like TouchWiz and the launcher controlled the badges. You could install Package Disabler Pro and disable the BadgeProvider App in system apps. I tried that from the app settings on the phone and it's grayed out on her phone.
Have you tried holding down on the app and clearing badges then turning off notifications for that app? Of course you'd get no notifications for that app at all. It was so easy on my S9 since it has a badge SETTING BTW, BadgeProvider is a system app and only shows up if you view system apps also.

Lol good grief... I've never owned a Samsung phone (since the advent of Android, anyhow).. . This is part of the TouchWiz thing I hear bandied about in the forums? . I see. This explains why I see this term mentioned A LOT. I think I'll look in to custom roms now, because bump the hell out of this, lol! I've never liked methods, like freezing apps in Titanium Backup. I'd just as soon they not be around whatsoever! Thanks for the info.
Of course, I used to be quite fond of Nova Launcher, so maybe I'll try that first. Either way, big thanks. :good:

Yep, I've been a Nova user since the beginning but also take a look at Microsoft Launcher. I actually use that more now and it gives you many of the same options. LOL, the first thing I do on any of my Samsung tablets or phones is replace TouchWiz.

Question Homescreen folder sort issues

Hey guys. Trying to stock with one ui instead of nova this time around.
The home page folders are giving me fits though.
Not only does it not look like they can auto arrange alphabetically, but they also don't leave manual arrangement alone.
Example:
I make my first 4 app icons:
Facebook, messenger messages,email.
There are other apps in the folder as well.
I turn on the next day, open the folder, and the first 4 all icons are Facebook, Reddit, Newsbreak, and Twitter!
(And none of those new apps were used, and all are in deep sleep state.)
Does anyone know if this rearrange mechanic can be disabled, or if there is a one ui home add on to add alphabetical sorting to honescreen folders??
Yeah! I'm still seeing this odd sort behavior after the March update.
I'm sure those companies pay Samsung good money to arrange their apps first! I've tried to like OneUI and have patiently tried to work with it but I always end up going back to Nova.

Yeah, I've been rocking nova for years now. I'll try to stick the misbehaving apps in their own folder and let them duke it out.
Nova Launcher is my personal favorite as Samsung's launcher is clunky and slow. If you really want to customize Samsung's launcher download Good Lock and Home Up module from the Galaxy Store.
Yup, already have good lock and home up....but they don't address the folder sorting issue.
I'm finding one ui smoother on the s22 ultra, which why I switched back to it from nova once I set it up.
