[Q] Rooting my android

hi Experts,
i tried to find the answer from the forum, took me hours but no answer. That is why I am posting this thread.I want to root my HTC G1.But I don't want to use custom roms.On iphone when I jailbreaked my phone i did not go for another rom ,i used the same that came with it.My question is if I root my android device ,do I really need to install a new rom or I can use the same that came with it but will gain some power of having root.
sincerely,
ml
You don't need to but why not use a rom that has more features than stock.
Thanks for reply.I want to but afraid of make the device too slow.i can still remember when I upgraded ios 3.0.2 to ios4 on my iphone ,it was quiet annoying to use.I just want to root to move my apps to the sd card.
Installing a custom rom, normally, doesn't make your phone goes slow... but it gives it a HUGE boost and add features!!! And Android is not Ios 4...

Need help installing ROMs

Hello everyone,
sometime last year i tried installing a custom ROM on my Mi Mix 3 and it didn't work, so being a beginner having no knowledge with that kind of stuff i just gave up.
I'm here hoping someone could guide me step by step with download links on how to properly do everything to get a custom ROM running on the phone
I'm currently running MIUI 11.0.3.0 (QEECNXM) on a chinese Mi Mix 3.

OnePlus Stable Rom Recommendation

I have an old OnePlus One that still works, and I'd like to repurpose it for a child. Which stable ROM do you guys recommend? I see a Lineage 18 out there with Android 11 for the OnePlus. My only requirement is that I'm able to get updated Google apps so I can install Family Link. It currently has the old stock OS. It's been a long time since I've messed with TWRP or flashing a ROM on a phone (like 7 years). I remember some of the basics but I need some real hand holding to remember how to get through the whole process. I found https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/bacon/install which seems to be pretty helpful.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
