My device doesn't have the latest version but it's always showing installed latest version.
Help me sir.
It's showing...
The lasted update have already been installed.
Current version: J600GXU3ARL1/J600GODM3ARK4/J600GDXU3ARj8
Security patch level: 1 December 2018
But the latest firmware is(by 'phone info' apk):

Info:
Firmware's CSC code: INS
Active CSC code: BNG
Available CSC: BNG,INS,NPL,SLK,BKD
You can visit fw.updato.com and check the latest firmware for your device .The latest update is showing Android Pie for SM-J600G released on 18th April in India. You can download the firmware from there and install using Odin.
Further , you can follow this guide to install the latest firmware https://www.xda-developers.com/update-firmware-any-samsung-phone/
Make sure you backup all your data before trying to install the firmware. Also, make sure you download the correct firmware according to your device model number and region
Thank you. I downloaded the firmware for BNG Bangladesh region(Activated CSC) which is pointed by phone info apk. But the firmware CSC is INS(India). Can I try it or which firmware should I try between BNG and INS?

Hello and thanks for looking at this thread! I am a longtime Android user and have recently switched from Note 4 to S7. The Note 4 was DBT so I had no doubts about flashing and before that I had a Nexus 4 that was a breeze to update via fastboot or TWRP.
I got my phone from a carrier Vip Mobile in Serbia (CSC TOP). Since the latest software update is from August, I would like to switch it to BTU in order to get all the security patches and prepare the phone to get Nougat in a timely fashion.
Here is detailed FW info:
Model SM-G930F
Model name Galaxy S7
Country Serbia (VIP)
Version Android 6.0.1
Changelist 8888212
Build date Tue, 09 Aug 2016 09:46:20 +0000
Security Patch Level 2016-08-01
Product code TOP
PDA G930FXXU1BPH6
CSC G930FTOP1BPH1
I have a couple of questions to experienced users:
1. Is it enough to just flash bl, cp, ap and csc? From what I read, there is no more need for pit files since they are incorporated into CSC. For older models like S6 Edge I had to use a pit file to switch from carrier to DBT fw.
2. If I decide not to use OTA later, am I right in understanding that I can just flash the AP file and keep my CSC and Data? The reason I'm asking is that on the Note 4, there were sometimes radio problems if you flashed the ap without the corresponding bootloader and radio.
3. Were there any feature and stability updates between August and December that you noticed or were they just security patches?
Any input from people that are experienced with Odin or switching regions is higly appreciated. I am sorry for the long post but I would like to give all the pertinent information to best understand the process. Thank you all in advanced and happy holidays!
If you are about to change the CSC you should do it the following way:
Download and flash the new firmware. Put AP, BL, CP and CSC (not home_CSC) in appropriate places in Odin. Do not change the default settings in Odin. The CSC contains the pit file needed to partition the memory right. Always flash all the files, do not flash only one file and you are more unlikely to run into problems. If you in the future want to flash an update with the same csc as already is on the phone, you can then use the home_csc and this way you will be able to keep all data and it will be just like an OTA update.
After the flash boot into recovery (vol+, home, power) and then delete cache partition and after that wipe data/factory reset. Then reboot. This is important as this step will set the csc to the new default csc of the newly flashed firmware. Unfortunately, there is no way to choose csc if it is a multi-csc firmware, it will set the default csc for this multi-csc. I think that the BTU is a single csc firmware so in this case you are good and the phone will pick up updates OTA for the BTU in the future.
I changed the csc of my S7 and before I had made the last steps into recovery my phone did not have a csc at all as I checked with Phone Info. The csc fields were simply empty and I would not have been sent any OTA updates after this. I got this important step from Greenman at the SamMoble forum.
Thank you for the great guide! I guess I will then wait a bit for Nougat to start rolling out. Based on Note experience I would like to do a factory reset at that point anyway because of the major changes.

DBT region receives firmware with OXM multi-CSC, which also includes TPH CSC (Portugal), so there should not be any issues.
Flash
I loaded the .tar files into Odin.
Auto Reboot is checked.
F.Reset Time is checked.
Everything else is unchecked.
After my phone boots into download mode do i have to press anything on it or i just press start on Odin ?
The only phone that i have flashed was my Galaxy S in 2010 and i haven't done anything like this before.
If I do this, will I receive ota updates in the future?

Use HOME_CSC not CSC, however, if there would be any issue during the upgrade, the storage would show only 16GB and you would have to do a factory reset anyway. If you are going to try to do the upgrade, I strongly recommend backing up your data.

Yes, the firmware for any regions included within OXM multi-CSC is the same.
For variant G950FD i neeed to use this same firm, right?
EDIT: i did this method and works fine. But the baseband was not to be CRB7? My phone says baseband G950FXXU1CRAP and the compilation number said R16NW.GF50FXXU1CRB7. Does its good?

Yes, that's right. Samsung did not update modem firmware or CSC package. Only bootloader and AP (system) were updated.
I flashed Oreo CRB7 final build from Germany and everything is great. But notifications for viber doesnt work as supposed. When i snooze them for only 15 minutes they never appear again and even after 2 hours when i open viber app i have new messages for which i didnt get notification neither sound and stays like that. But when i restart phone everything becomes normal untill i snooze some notification again. I did clean install, clear cash twice and factory reset the phone before Oreo.
Followed the instructions from this site step by step (it was flashing with extracting .lz4 extensions). Help?

I have a SM-G920F that is network unlocked (as far as I can tell...). I updated it to the latest stock firmware available at the time and since then I have had Lineage 14.1 installed which I regularly update (along with OpenGApps). The Baseband version is G920FXXU5ERA5 which I think was installed as part of the stock firmware?
I noticed a couple of days ago that there is a newer stock firmware which I think has a newer baseband - although I am a bit confused as to what the baseband actually is (modem firmware?). I think the latest for my S6 is G920FXXU6ERF5 from June 2018 although there seems to be firmware from September 2018 for the Vodafone varient?
Is it possible to install the latest Baseband independantly of the whole stock firmware? Is there a .zip available for this?
Download and run this;

When you open the program, type the values given here;
Model: SM-G920F
Region: XFA (it has the newest baseband firmware right now)
Auto: Selected
Manual: Unselected
Binary Nature: Selected
Check CRC32: Selected
Decrypt automatically: Selected
When you write and select options given above, press "Check Update" and then press "Download" to download factory firmware for your device.
Once the download has been finished, extract the zip file that you've downloaded via SamFirm.
After unzip it, download and run this Odin (even if you have another one);
https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3804544&d=1467772303
When you open it, press CP and select file which starts with CP from downloaded (from Samfirm) and extacted zip folder.
Other sections (AP, CSC, etc) should be empty.
When you set the CP file to Odin, connect your phone in download mode.
After that, press Start. When Odin done the installation, phone will restart. When it is restarted, disconnect the cable.

Thank you for the very detailed reply.
Will this break anything?
My device I think is region UK BTU so is there any difference in the baseband firmware for XFA region devices (South Africa I think?).
Obviously I don't want to break anything or trip anything that will cause something to stop working - i.e. SafetyNet
Thanks
Andy

I guess this post aims to "flash via Odin" only. With that being said:
Have you followed this guide mentioned at the post to flash your phone?
Did you enable the "USB debugging" in "Developer options" menu?

You don't have to update via OTA, you can do a Google search for firmware updates for your model number then download any available updates for your specific model number then flash thr update(s) via Odin.
