help my ZENFONE 5Q!!!! - General Questions and Answers

so here the story. first i want to use custom rom. I wiped the system and flash the custom rom(via sd card). there many error in the log(cant mount /data, cant mount /storage and error 255). then i wiped all partition. the /data and /storage is solved but the error 255 is not solved. then i read some thread. it say i need to use unofficial twrp that support 64 to install this kind of zip. then i flashed it via twrp.it has 2 option to flash it on boot or recovery. first i chose the recovery. then i flash it again and chose boot. i reebot the phone and it bring me to fastboot mode. i try to press - and power it bring me to fastboot. i try to + and power it bring me to fastboot. and booting the phone will bring to fastboot mode too. then i try to flash twrp from pc. but my pc cant read my phone in fastboot mode via minimal adb and fastboot. Now my phone is useless. SOMEONE HELPPPPP MEEEEE PLEASEEEEEE!!!!!

Hold the Power button and Vol- button in till it stops flashing then let go of the power button for sec and press again then wait a few secends and the bootloader should show up. Now you should be able to use the toolkit again first thing you want to do is flash TWRP recovery and then use it again to flash the boot.img from the rom you want to use then reboot into recovery and you should be able to mount SD now, copy over the rom then factory reset and wipe system and then install rom.
Oh ,CWM recovery isn't support mount USB

You'd better using TWRP recovery,it's prefect..
if you can't mount usb or sdcard then the only fix that doesn't involve using linux hackery is to read this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...OW-TO] Fix soft brick & error mounting sdcard
you need to go back to stock recovery wipe sdcard everything your gonna lose everything and then after you successfully get control of sdcard you flash new recovery use twrp (I wouldn't trust cwm if I was paid to) and that's the fix. happy hacking

I think he cant mount SD is because CWM cant do it but TWRP can.
I've been there more than I like to admit..it's what made me vow never to buy htc
again

If you use cwm recovery, not twrp, then it's normal that you can't mount your sdcard onto your PC over USB. This is not a problem, as long as you can mount your sdcard onto your root filesystem. You can still adb push/pull files to/from the device. If not, you have the 'unmountable sdcard' and you should follow the sticky in Q&A on this issue.
However, it is scary that you can not get into bootloader/fastboot mode. This means you can't change recoveries and, depending on your hboot, change boot images and radios.
Try unplugging the device before you boot into bootloader using the vol-down key. If you have it plugged in, cwm will boot into recovery as soon as you power down.

I must agree with many of the posts here.
Go into fastboot usb, and flash the latest TWRP recovery instead of clockwork mod.
After having gone TWRP, I dont look back. You have many more features than in clockwork, including a USB mount of the internal sd card. You can also use adb tools in twrp too.
After mounting your sdcard, you can then transfer a rom over and then install using twrp too.
If your sd card is corrupted (ie will not mount, cannot access, etc), then you may need to flash the stock recovery and then in the bootloader redo a factory reset. There is a thread about this somewhere, as the stock recovery can reformat your sd card partition if its corrupted or wont mount with other custom recoverys.

I have a Motog 1040 tx.
I have unlocked the boot loader through Motorola's website
I have SuperSU installed. I have verified using an app the phone is rooted.
This my problem installing clockword mod...
When I go through the commands in terminal manager. It says recovery. IMG not found.
I've downloaded clockwordmod recovery peregrine for my phone model and renamed
it recovery.IMG and placed it in the sdcard memory card root.
I've tried placing flash image in my sdcard root as well and used that method as well.
Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? The sd card is listed as sdcard1 on my device. I've also noticed that there is an emulated sdcard listed.
You can flash recovery in fastboot mode by using the command fastboot flash recovery nameoffile.img
How do I go about doing that?
Make sure the phone is not connected to a USB cable. Press and hold both volume buttons, press and hold power for a few seconds, release all buttons and you should be in fastboot mode.
What do I do once in fastboot mode? Where do I enter the command and where do I place the recovery.img
Have a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2577043
I need confirmation that you've placed adb and fastboot in the platform tools folder?
Fastboot doesn't work in command prompt. Is this due to windows 8.1 64 bit...?
Fastboot and mfastboot should work in Win7 by installing drivers.
Win8 is a little trickier: http://forums.team-nocturnal.com/index.php/topic/1362-how-to-adb-fastboot-in-windows-xp-7-81-10/
OK... So I got fastboot working. I flashed clockwordmod recovery peregrine....I flashed clockwordmod mod recovery no touch.... I've flashed twrp...... Successfully.....they're the right version for my phone. Even though I've sucesssfully flashed .... My recovery is still stock. What am I doing wrong if it is saying I've successfully flashed the recovery IMG though it doesn't change?
Very good

After it flashes successfully, disconnect the USB cable, and boot into recovery using the volume buttons.

Awesome it worked. Here's my other issue now though. Because I edited a file and inputted a string incorrectly in the root folder I had to install my stock ROM. Since reinstalling the stock ROM I have next to no memory left on my device. When I used mfastboot I did not clearvuser data so I wouldn't loose everything on my phone. What can I do about this. Will installing the custom ROM for my device clear this up?
I don't think a custom ROM is going to help you get back your memory.
Install Titanium backup. Backup your apps and data, do a full wipe of data, cache, and Dalvik and check memory usage. If that doesn't help, do a full wipe of everything, install the ROM, and restore from your Titanium backup. Just make sure to save your titanium backup folder to your PC before doing the full system wipe.

Bootloop After trying to flash TWRP 2.8.7.1

I used adb to install TWRP onto my Nexus 5. Now it is in a bootloop, and TWRP does not seem to be able to mount anything. When it reboots it looks like it automatically goes to the TWRP where it says it is running OpenRecoveryScript but it is unable to mount anything. I tried a boot start to Recovery and it worked but when i tried a factory reset it says the same thing.
Any help would be great.

Xiaomi Mi4c stuck at MI.com screen

Hi all,
I've received my Xiaomi Mi4c today and tried to install CM 12.1 from here :
http://www.teamsuperluminal.org/mi4c-cyanogenmod-12-1/
I think I've bricked my device, because when I tried to install the new ROM it failed, with an error that there is no OS install, are you sure you want to reboot and now I've got a device that doesn't boot or start...
I think it can connect to the PC but I don't have drivers for it... even if I have is there a way I can restore it to MIUI default ROM?
Please help..
Edit: I've deleted the ROM I had on the SD, so I ahve access to TW Recovery but I don't have anything on the phone... is there a way I can copy a file over and flash it again?
In twrp, go to mount tab and then mount your storage while connected to your PC and transfer the ROM over
Hi ermacwins,
Thx for helping!
I couldn't mount my external SD card, however I've sideloaded a stock MIUI ROM on the device. When I try to flash it I receive the following error:
zip signature verification failed 1
When I untick the zip verification it just fails.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

You have the following possibilties:
Download a fastboot rom and flash it with MiFlash tool through your PC.
Or download a Rom from Xiaomi.eu or sMIUI (you can also use CM12.1 or MoKee). Put it in your phones storage and flash it in TWRP. But before you flash it, wipe cache, dalvik, data and system. Then flash it. If you get an error, just reboot again to TWRP and flash it a second time, but this time without wipes.
You see, you can easily recover your phone

Press volume down + power for 4-5 seconds it will force reboot to fastboot mode then u can flash chinese stable rom and try again you must have kept the fastboot package by side so that if anything goes wrong you can get back to working stock rom

Power off your device, then press POWER + VOLUME DOWN button together until you see the fastboot logo
Connect the device to a pc with (fastboot/adb drivers installed)
Download a TWRP recovery for the device and boot it with the following command:
Code:
fastboot boot mi4c_recovery.img
Then you will be able to wipe/flash new roms using the recovery.
well after many hours, i found the only working solution to be by adb sideload (thanks god i had twrp recovery, otherwise my phone would be completely dead). i flashed a smiui rom and all is fine. thanks for the help anyway. btw miphone tool is useless, couldn't get it to work.
can you say step by step with the adb sideload? my phone is enter in fastboot mod but not in recovery, when i keep volum up and power is starting to flash mi.com over and over again. I tried to flash Version: 6.2.25 (MIUI7) please help

twrp or CWM saying cant mount any partition TF300T

hELLO,
I tried installing twp and cwm versions from xda/twrp.me/cwm website for T300T and flashed them successfully from FASTBOOT but after I boot into recovery and then, when I try to wipe data/ factory reset, do anything in twrp or CWM, I get error "unable to mount /system /cache/ and every other partition, so I can not flash anything, can not mount any partition or sdcard or emmc or anything and can not copy flash files into tablet from PC while in TWRP CWM or external SDcard. I already enabled USB debugging and everything else in tablet settings but I am unable to mount anything or format anything from TWRP or CWM.
TWRP shows internal memory as 00mb :S
HOw to get pass that error "unable to mount" ??
how to mount so that I can flash custom roms/

If your fastboot still works, please try Kang TWRP 2.8.7.2 from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/transformer-tf300t/development/recovery-twrp-t3046479.
if the other recovery does not work, you would probably need to reflash stock rom from the asus website, this is due to recovery not being able to identify the partitions without a full boot, if you wiped it from bootloader the whole partition table is messed up and you want to reflash that by using the stock rom. If you need any help on that just pm me.
I have the exact same problem. Not sure about fastboot as so far it has not installed anything. I have twrp 2.5.0.0 .... adb does function and have actually installed KK 6.0 and works fine, but on restart it is back to recovery and no OS.Any help appreciated.
using fastboot all I get is waiting on device and a blinkng cursor.
How can I get Kang twrp on the tf300 with adb commands?
Sorry to sort of hi-jack the OP thread, but my problem is very similar. Here is where I am now tablet sitting at Starting fastboot usb download protocol ... 3 icons with RCK blinking. I ran the following From my sdk platform tools folder.
adb reboot bootloader
it was followed by;
" daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037"
"daemon started successfully"
I then ran the following:
fastboot -i 0x0b05 flash recovery twrp_tf300t_kang_2.8.7.2.img
it was followed by:
sending 'recovery' (7126 kb)...
followed by a white blinking cursor and it just sits there,
Same results if I run it all the same except substituting the blob file instead of the img file.any ideas?
Many Thanks
Many Thanks, go out to gs-crash-24-7 as well to the forums here at XDA, I now have my tf 300 back up and running on the stock JB 4.2.1 rom. Still isn't recognizing my Micro SD card, but that is a problem I think should be easier to solve.
Again, many thanks all.
Took forever to get it to be recognized as a fastboot device with windows 10, but once that happened ( I won't lie, I erased everything many times) well that and me switching to a little 3 ft cord (after so many attemps at adb>fastboot flash staging blob) it is going for now.
Good advice below if your TF300T seems bricked.
