Automatic brightness - Google Pixel 3 Questions & Answers

Hey,
So my first pixel 3 got rmad due to the bottom speaker dieing and i received a new one. But this pixels automatic brightness keeps doing weird stuff turning dark sometimes out of its own. So I turned it off, but the phone keeps turning it back on again. Causing the screen to go automatically go dark again.
Any help?

annoying auto dim at night

I'm having an annoying problem where the screen is too dim to read comfortably at night. I started thinking that there was something about the settings that was refusing to remember my brightness setting, but then I realized that it only happens at night. If I wake up the watch it is set to a brightness of 1 which I find hard to read. I go into the settings using double-double tap and set the brightness back up, but it will immediately reset it to 1 the next time the watch wakes up.
Is there any way to turn off this "automatic night time dim mode"?
I don't think the Gear 2 has an automatic dimming mode, at least I've never heard of it. Maybe reset your watch and start over again, or it could be defective.

Click to collapse
In fact my biggest gripe is the lack of a light sensor controlling brightness. I roll over at night and am blinded when the motion turns it on.
You're right, it has persisted through today as well. Grrr... I'll try a reset...

[Q] Screen dims during call

Not sure if this is an OPO issue or an Android one in general. Don't remember it happening to previous phones...
When I make a call, about 90% of the time, it'll dim the screen. Now, I'm not talking about it using the proximity sensor to turn the screen off. That is a good thing, and I approve. But when I'm finished with the call, most of the time, it's dropped the screen's brightness down to the minimum level. And there it will stay until I manually turn the brightness back up.
Is there any way to prevent the phone from doing this?

After updating to Oreo, the automatic brightness of the screen does not work properly

I have XZ Premium dual sim CE1.
Screen brightness automatic.
Brightness changes under the ambient light, but the brightness bar does not move.
It stands 2/5 in length.
When I manually change the brightness of the bar, it will move where I touch my finger and stay there.
After a clever change of brightness, the machine stops working.
Automatic brightness does not work.
I have to enter settings, turn off auto brightness and turn it back on. Then it starts to work but the strap is in place at 2/5 length as in the beginning.
Prior to upgrading, the slider bar moved along with the automatic brightness change. After updating it is always in place.
I upgraded my phone and then repaired the software via Xperia Companion. It did not change anything. The issue still exists.
Several friends have the same problem.
Applies single and dual sim.
Please if you have similar help then fix it.
Reporting an error with the RGBC sensor has resulted.
Sony has promised to fix the bug.
Now I need to report an error with the backlight of the screen.
The thread to report a bug with brightness is here:

I have this problem too, mostly when it is dark the brightness keeps changing from dim to bright back and forth until I just disabled adaptive brightness. I'm pretty sure I had this problem before the update but it wasn't nearly as bad, mine is typically stuck on the lowest brightness.
Report a bug in Sony forum and help fix it.
Have Auto-Brightness problem in Nougat.
It turns dark and stays there, manual setting works without any problem

[Solved] Blue Light Filter Stuck On

Last night, I was doing some reading on my phone, and I followed Google Play Books recommendation to turn on the blue light filter.
I finished reading, and immediately turned off my phone. This morning I turned the phone back and and saw the blue light filter still active, which I expected. I went into settings and turned it off.
In settings it says the blue light filter is off, however it definitely isn't. I tried turning it back on again and it applied another filter over the preexisting one. I tried restarting the phone but it's still the same.
I am running stock Android 8.0.0.
Any help is appreciated.
Solution: It was caused by Google Play Books night light setting. Apparently it effects your entire phone. Go into a book, and tap on formatting settings. Then click nightlight and turn it off.

P40 Pro Whatsapp notifications too fast & weird screen brightness

1. When using Whatsapp Web, every time I get a message my phone screen turns on. This happens even if I'm talking to the person in question. Uses battery for nothing. Is there a way to get this to either delay a few seconds so it would notice the message has been seen and wouldn't activate screen OR straight up notice Web is in use and not notificate?
2. There's a slight change in brightness when going from bright to dark pages. No auto brightness or anything is on. Any idea how to turn this off?
