App to Temporarily Pause Specific App Notifications for specific time - General Questions and Answers

I have searched and searched and cannot find a way to do this, so hoping someone has the same issue.
I have a home security app (Blink) that notifies whenever it captures video. I want it to do this.
But, we have builders in at the moment - I need the security cameras to stay on, but I get notifications all day.
I can disable the notifications entirely i know, but I forget to turn them back on.
Is there any app / tasker / similar way I can create something which will pause this app notifcations for say, 3 hours?
Thanks

Well, you answered your own question. An app like the Tasker app should be able to do what you want.
Or simply use your calender app to set reminders to turn on/off notifications for that app.

So how would I do that?
I know how to take action from a trigger say (i.e. plugging in my phone), and I know how I'd turn on DnD
but i'm not sure:
a) how I would say, create an icon to do this on my home screen
b) Turn off the notification status of a specific app
c) then ensure it came back after x amount of time
Thanks

Mute everything but the ringtone at night?

For some reason my wife doesn't like my headboard buzzing & chiming all night long whenever I receive an E-mail. As I only have a cell & no land line I need my phone to ring during the night if I get a call, but want to mute everything else. For now I disabled E-mail notifications, but that's a pain to turn on and off ever morning/night.
On my old Windows Mobile AT&T Fuze I just set Active Sync to only sync during the daytime, so that effectively muted it at night.
Anybody have any thoughts?
I'm interested in this too. Actually it'd be nice to turn everything but ringtone and email off for me, as I get work emails overnight while I'm on call that need to wake me up. But gmail, facebook, google talk, etc - it'd be nice if there was a mass silencer for those.
Turn off data at night maybe? Might be some app to turn off data during dif times?
Go to the market place and search for an app called "Setting Profiles Full" by "probeez". This type of app is exactly why I did not go with the iPhone. It will do exactly what you want, I'm using it for that and more.

I downloaded the light version and its not working for me. I set it so at a specified time it is to turn on a profile and its not even doing that. Any advice?
Profile App / Widget pro is working for me. The only part that would be a problem would be keeping emails notification while silencing messages. Maybe a 3rd party email app would do it.

Could I turn-off phone automatically?
Turn off requires root privileges. We plan to add them both, but for now no power off is not an available action

I would like to use the triggers
- disconnect from specific wifi network
and
- leave location (fence)
Now you can only trigger on a network or a location (I'm guessing on connecting or entering, it's not really clear in the software)
I'm assuming they'll be added in the near future?

Remove Ads?
Just installed the app, I'd heard about it yesterday and just didn't get around to installing it. Like the look and everything so far. Question: I hate ads, is there a plan to do a Pro version or within the app pay to remove the ads on the bottom?
I've got no issues with paying for a good app and I think this is definitely a good app, but ads drive me crazy and I'll just uninstall any app rather than use it that doesn't give me an option to get rid of them.
Thanks in advance for any reply! Great work otherwise!

We are going to add an in app purchase to remove the ads in the near future. We wanted to provide the app for free yet cover some little costs like github hosting and developer accounts. I know they can be an eye sore at the bottom, but ideally you only need to see them once or twice. After we are set up you shouldn't need to come back into the app for much.

It would be nice if you could make use of Activity Recognition. If "Driving", then disable Wi-Fi. Is this possible? Maybe in a feature version?

We've started playing with activity recognition. We just want to make sure its stable, accurate, and battery safe before implementing it.

Would like to see the option to use secure settings as an action. Great app. Thanks!
Great app with good User freindly UI unlike Tasker which is too confusing.
Just 2 issues,
1-Why there is no Ringer Volume option in Action ? it seem it is basic thing one would like to do lower the volume of ringer at home and higher outside. I see all other volume option except Ringer.
2- I want to set a location base Triger but the map never load i only get the white page,i see GPS icon kick in my status bar for 2 sec and then disappear but no map loaded,. When I open Google map app it is working perfectly. any idea what is the issue ?

Hey thanks for trying the app. Call volume is the ringer volume.
Do you have network connectivity? I'm not sure why it wouldn't show the map. Unless it was not connected to the internet or the apk was signed with a different cert.

Thanks for the quick reply, You should rename the Call volume to Ringer Volume is people will get confuse. Because Call volume is some thing else it is the volume that is during a call.
I do have the internet, I am at home with WIFI also the google map app is loading normaly. I will check if it is not xprivacy which blocked something it shouldnt

Did you save the Location Trigger? Is there one listed in the Profile'sTrigger list? Is your GPS enabled? How about WiFi and Cell Location? If your device can not get a lock on your location there is no way for it to fire. Once a Location Trigger is saved we should handle the rest.

Stop screen waking up on notification?

Am I going crazy, or is there no way to stop notifications from waking the screen? Everytime I get any sort of notification, my screen wakes up to display the notification on the lock screen, and then goes back to sleep a second later. I would like to turn this off and it drains battery.

I've noticed this happens to me when I receive an SMS, but nothing else. I don't think this is the default behaviour. Do you have an app installed that maybe does this? LightFlow?
Well I did install Snaplock for a hot second but I've since uninstalled it. Maybe it changed some setting somewhere that I can't find?
Any help for this? It's driving me crazy.

I have tried to find a solution for this, but I haven't been able to. I am guessing it is just unconfigurable behaviour of the Samsung messaging app.
Yep. I installed 8sms and Textra. Both allow you to disable the screen wake. Decided on 8sms for the long haul.
Help
Ok, so I am also irritated by the same issue with the screen waking up every time I get a text. My phone is usually in my pocket, and by trying to take it out to see the text, my camera or dial screen is opened cause I touched it while the screen was on. I have tried downloading Textra, Handcent, and 8sms to use instead, but in every one of those, when I try to send a photo, it fails, and I have dug through all the settings in those apps as well. I can send them on the stock messaging app just fine.
Has anyone found out how to turn the screen wake up off yet, or what am I missing on the other apps that is preventing pictures to send?
The other thing that is bothering me is that in the stock messaging app, it is displaying a call back # on every text I receive. Is there a way to turn this off?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,
-Nick
I'm also trying to find the solution to this. G920I with Vodafone Australia.
Did anyone find a resolution to this issue? My phone turns on with every notification, not just sms.
I don't have my phone on me, but check settings > lockscreen and security > Show information or
settings > lockscreen and security > other security settings > notification access
I disabled all lock screen notifications and the screen still turns on randomly. I thought it may have been facebook so I disabled notifications then uninstalled the app with no luck. This problem is very annoying to say the least, when I go for a run I take my phone to stream music etc and can end up taking a few hundred pics of my pocket; lol.
Yeah I've this problem too, samsung didn't include the option to disable it :\
Are you saying there is no way to stop the screen from coming on?
Doesn't look like you can disable it, sadly. Nothing stock in touchwiz that gives that functionality. Or am I wrong? I just searched the entire settings on my phone..

another annoyed user, looking for a solution
The inability to prevent the wake-up is annoying not only because of the instant battery usage, but because when the phone is in pocket it then causes all kinds of mispresses which lead to unintended app openings, changes, and screen staying on much longer. Samsung needs to provide option to disable screen wake on notification.
Samsung we have f#%$*ng RGB LED for notification!

I remember asking about this in a thread a long time. Ago. Good news, (if the other suggested fixes aren't working), I know how to fix this. First, you have to be rooted (naturally). 2nd, install another text app, I just use google's Messenger text app, nice and basic and I like it. Open that app and let it set itself as default or do it manually in settings. That step might not be necessary, but should do it just in case or possibly be left with no text app by accident. Finally, go to system > priv-app > SecMms_Delight-Open > Copy the app which is our stock messaging app and it has the screen wake function built in and paste it somewhere else like a backup folder in the priv-app directory so you know where it goes back to. Delete the app inside the SecMms-Delight-Open directory and reboot. You'll notice the yellow stock messaging app is gone from desktop and app drawer and now when you get a text, no screen wake! :good:
This annoyed me quite a bit because for a living I deliver catering orders and each time I get an order, it sends a text to let me know to check the browser for order info. So I was getting like 12 to 20 texts a day in addition to all the normal texts from friends and family. It was waking a lot!
I wish the build my edge came on was rootable. Sad face for sure. No root, no downgrade, no happy.

[Q] Newbie help with sound issue

Hi everyone, and thanks in advance if you can help. I need my phone to be silent during daytime meetings and at night. I've installed an app which should take care of this. However I still get sound notifications. I'm assuming it's the "interruptions" feature over riding the app as I see the star icon displayed. Is there anything I can do to stop this? It's really annoying me. Thank you so much for your assistance.

Hit the volume button one so the sounds mode dialogue pops up onto your screen. You'll see three options, All, Priority, and None. Select None.

Hello Heisenberg and thank you for getting back to me. I've seen the option you describe, but I wanted something that would work with my calendar and automatically mute during events - plus at night time and then revert back to normal. Every time the app I'm using modifies the sound profiles, the star icon appears and lets notifications through. I think I'd prefer to disable "interruptions" and use the app full time as it's far more efficient and versatile. Do you know if it's possible? Sadly, I can't find a way to make the phone work in the way I want it to - do you have any other thoughts please?

I don't understand why you need an app. I just use profiles and adjust the sound mode manually, it's easy enough.

Ah - I tried that and couldn't find a way to make it happen using my location, an app will do it all automatically during the day based on my calendar and also at night. Am I missing something here?? Forgive me if I sound dim but I'm getting very fed up having to constantly mess around with the phone settings because it seems to override the app settings. What happened to "quiet hours"??

Stock Oreo - disable persistent background app notification?

Postponing it 2 hours at a time is better than nothing, but this is kind of a stupid one to be permanent. I *know* Macrodroid is running in the background... I told it to.

Exactly my experience too, if you haven't used tasker before it's pretty unclear.
This is the most ****ing annoying thing I have see in awhile. Is there a way for me to roll back to 7.1.2 on Verizon or get rid of this notification for good?
For the sake of battery life and the future of Android , instead of wasting time disable the notification , please take time to request the app developer update their app.
Google making this move to warn user which app consume your battery in the background. And the bad written app must be the target to blame , not Google.

Ironic, though, to see that GMail shows this notification. Just wanted to point that out. Not doubting that they'll release an update to address this.
I have to start the task after reboot again, then everything works. Also never used tasker before.

Certain apps are meant to run full time such as openvpn. This notification is just dumb
I use pie controls so that notification is always there for me as well. I found a root and non root way of disabling it, here on xda. Root way didn't work for me and I'm too lazy to set up tasker. I'm already used to hitting the 2 hour sleep on it. Plus it never shows an actual icon in the status bar.
It's not ideal, but you can also change that notification to low priority to push it lower in the notification shade.

I have a two step Tasker task, borrowed from another user. One tap and it is snoozed for years not just two hours.
