What are you talking about??
I'm clearly mention about the 10X Zoom Edition high end version NOT the midrange proposal with the Qualcomm 710.

I'll probably go from Nex S Global version to 1+ 7 Pro too. The nex S is a great phone, but I find it very disappointing that the Global Version is still on 8.1, I'm worried how this phone will receive future updates and this is not a problem on OnePlus's side, their developers are a lot closer to the community than Vivo's.

The Oneplus 7 sounds great but the lack of a headphone jack is a let down. Someone on another thread says he's downloading Pie to his Nex right now. If true I'm good with this phone for another year.

Yes oneplus 7 pro seems to be solid upgrade to Nex S.
But again will be missing 3.5 audio jack.
But the main differences is in software between Vivo and Oneplus.
Majority of western world users will prefer Oxygen than Fantouch that's the advantages for oneplus device.

I've heard rumours that ColorOS 6 doesn't allow you to install custom Launchers, could some confirm or drop me an interesting link about what's so wrong with ColorOS before purchasing one?
Also, as I never had Oppo before, should rooting and removing Chinese market apps be easy?
Thanks!

If it's like the Chinese Funtouch version then probably not but there are workarounds for launchers I understand. Don't know about rooting and removing Chinese bloat.
First suggestion would be to wait for the Global model and second is to check the Oppo forums on here and elsewhere.

So... is this video up-to-date then?

I'm asking this because I don't have too much that I ask from Android at all - Nova Launcher + quick-shortcut to turn on LED lamp (e.g. long press on some button) and honestly I would be happy enough

The video looks old because the phone is definitely an old model. What do they say on the Oppo forums.
I long press the volume down button on my Nex. Probably the same for the Oppo. Again, you're asking in the wrong forum.

Marshmallow update...Xiaomi is playing with us!

I bought a Mi4c a few months ago convinced it was a great phone that could replace my Nexus 5 and yes it is a good phone with good specs but I bought it also when Xiaomi announced it would update to Marshmallow. My Nexus 5 was already running under MM so, I thought it would be a matter of a couple of weeks (Xiaomi announced update in Decembre) Today months have passed, many manufacturers like Motorola, Sony and even Samsung have updated some of their models even Moto E...but still nothing for Mi4c. Xiaomi makes good phones and I thought it was better than others cheap Chineses makers. It wants to be compared to Apple but it lacks support and compromise to existing customers. I probably had placed my expectations too high. Am I the only one? Next time I will buy a Nexus again.
Xiaomi uses Miui rom. There is no mutch different between MM based miui and Lollipop based miui.
Miui have most features of MM has already.

thats right! because of that i have no stress to get MM.
sMIUI runs great for me and have many many features!
IMO, they have too many devices to support. Just look at this table:

Many vendors only support their devices for 1 year, some 2, but here you can see Mi2S which is almost 3 years old and is still a supported device. I don't think Xiaomi has big enough development team to maintain all of those devices to match current base Android version. Moreover, they're advertising MIUI, which should have the similar experience between supported devices regardless the base Android version. 3 devices are already out with MM (still beta?), just wait for Mi4c turn. What features do you need from MM anyway?
"What features do you need from MM anyway?" My thoughts exactly.
Looking at the new features of MM, the ones that are interesting are the memory manager, per-app permissions and battery management. These are all things MIUI has built in already. Which probably also makes it that much harder to integrate into a new MIUI version.
Most of the other changes are cosmetic and most likely would not be reflected in MIUI anyway, when the MM update does come out.
or you can install TS CM13 - built by TS team or TS broken OS. They are 6.0 MM and pretty stable now. Great team with great supports and speed.
Sent from my Mi-4c using Tapatalk
The only real feature M offers over L is SD card as internal storage. Since Mi4c has no external storage you aren't missing anything. MIUI already does a Doze feature killing everything in the background.
Doze, per app permission and memory management are thé most wanted feature un MM.
MIUI is good and I don't criticize his developping team very active. I am only mad at Xiaomi marketing team making announcements and not complying.

Like a few of us mentioned so far, those features have been built into MIUI for a long time already. So rejoice, you have your most wanted features
On a serious note, it's probably reasonable to assume the MM rollout will follow the release of the new flagship, the Mi 5. Which I think is like a day or two away. You can bet that'll be released with the latest MIUI iteration of android.

Please provide at least 1 quote from Xiaomi officials that said Mi4c will get MM soon.
And no.. gizchina "xiaomi mm devices updates schedule" is not official.
i use Broken that is 6.0 and it works perfectly...
if u want 6.0 that bad get it...
Smartlock is there but it is not working at all... That would be nice to have it, dont know if under Android 6 or 7, or actual 5.1...

i believe it's a matter of time before the mi4c reveives marshmallow... but judging from xiaomi history mm won't come anytime soon... i'd estimate (personally) early autumn the soonest......
Am I the only one that think Xiaomi won't update Mi4c to MM?

I guess so. Since Mi 3/4/5/Note get it, there's no reason to skip Mi 4C/4S/Note Pro/any other still supported devices. However, they seem to be in a discussion now, for supporting newer Android base with locked bootloader or stay with older one with unlocked bootloader.
Why shouldn't it get MM? The Mi4S just got released and should therefore get it, which is very similar to the Mi4C.
Maybe they will update Mi4c straight forward to "N" just like Mi4 which jumped lollipop to MM.

I think so far HUAWEI is still busy with EMUI4.1 (Android 6) on Honor 8 according to their Chinese EMUI forum... There will be an option in future if you want to be a beta tester.
You should be able to across flash the p9 image onto the honor 8. The SOC is the same. I have the honor 5c and have flashed the p9 lite ROM onto it

They are the same. Kirin 950 is an underclocked version of Kirin 955. Apart from that everything same but don't expect P9 ROMs to work on Honor 8. There are many differences in Hardware such as Leica dual camera setup on P9 is different from the setup in Honor 8. That's only one difference to name. Both devices are completely different and you should not attempt to crossflash firmwares between them.
Leica has nothing to do with lens. They just signed on post-processing algo(on SW side) and Huaweii got a marketing name next to its lens.
Looking at details of cameras on P9 & H8 they are pretty much the same.
Manufacturer of lenses in P9 is Sunny Optical.
In practice it's tough to tell how much of difference that second sensor makes to pictures without being able to disable it entirely, just as it's difficult to tell exactly how much involvement Leica has had beyond slapping its logo on the back of the phone. Indeed, the camera sensor on the P9 is in fact made by Sunny Optical, a Chinese smartphone camera manufacturer—Leica merely certified the module.
Click to collapse
Huawei later provided additional information, saying the P9's camera module had been certified by Leica but the German company had not been involved in development or production of the optics.

You will see no mention of the P9 or Huawei on Leica's website, not even in the Press Releases which again suggests this was a licensing deal and not a co-opreration or partnership of any kind.

So aside from downclocked CPU i think rest is pretty much the same. But that is to be verified by complete breakdown of phone...if there is any posted online.
The P9 has a dedicated monochrome mode, three colour profiles and RAW support from within the native app.

Currently Huawei is working on pushing EMUI 4.1 to maximum number of devices including VoLTE update. Once that is completed, hopefully they will start working in EMUI 5. Beta Testing for EMUI 5 starts somewhere around DEC 2016 in UK. Last year Honor 7 got started Beta testing invitation by December. Hopefully Honor 8 will having the same timeline or even before.
Stay tuned to https://club.hihonor.com/ for Beta Testing update for your region.

It's the same camera hardware. One RGB, one B&W. Just no Leica branding and some features left out.
The hardware inside is going to be identical, bar the screen and SoC. The H8 is otherwise the dual SIM version of the 4GB RAM P9, encased in glass.

The version 5.0 of the HiSuite software update was available and I installed it a two or three days ago and the Engrish release notes said something about "Support for upcoming 5.0" which I assumed was referring to EMUI. I'll have to look through the image files in the install directory to see if any look new/different, but the app itself still looks the same.
Honor is committed to providing the best possible experience for our customers. From this year, we are making a commitment to provide customers with access to new features (at least once every three months during the first 12 months) for up to 24 months following each product launch. Honor Magic Hands-on Review : It Every Bit Works Like MAGIC!

During my visit to China for Honor’s 3rd anniversary carnival, I got a chance to witness the launch of Honor Magic on 16th December, 2016 and lay my hands on the device for a quick review. Without beating around the bush, here’s what you need to know about Honor Magic:
{

Operating System- Magic runs on Android 6.0 with Honor Magic Live software out of the box and is completely different than EMUI but feels much lighter and smoother for sure. Huawei developers must have re-structured everything in the backend for a fresh look, design, smoothness and performance.
Hardware- It is powered by Kirin 950 CPU processor, coupled with 4GB RAM for better performance and multitasking with 64 GB of internal memory. I opened all the apps but did not feel any lag or delay while doing so (Thanks to one of the support staff over there who helped me changing the language to English so that I could use and navigate across the settings).
Display- The 5.09-inch device has a screen resolution of 2K (yes, you read it right, not 720P or 1080P. But way better!) and a 3D glass structure to give more strength and look to the device. Screen pixels look extremely real, vivid, sharp and crystal clear.
Look and feel- It looks extremely premium in hand with completely re-structured design and a glossy finish. It looks awesome from any given angle and perfectly nestles into your palm for its decent size and the friendly bezel design. I felt comfy holding the glossy phone without any trouble or fear of the phone slipping off my hand.
Battery- It is powered by a 2900 mAH battery with Huawei’s Magic Power Fast-charging technology which could charge the phone up to 70% in just 20 minutes.
Camera- It has 12 MP dual cameras with RGB+Monochrome support which is capable of taking good pictures even in low light. I took a couple of shots and selfies too.
Connectivity - It supports the latest Wi-Fi bands and Bluetooth 4.2 and micro USB 2.0. Type C charging port helps in quick charging.
Pricing- It is available on Vmall.com, tmall.com, JD.com and suning.com at 3699 RMB, roughly around 36,200 INR.
Please share your thoughts on the same.
Two quick ones:
Is the "3D glass" anything more than the Curves & Edges ?
And when on English language, are there significant UI features or apps that are still locked to Chinese language ? This is of concern for those who get the phone from China. Im familiar with what to expect on EMUI but since this is a new UI im not sure if they have got everything compatible with the English language as of yet.

1- similar to Honor 8 but additionally on Edges as well.
2- When changed the lnguage to English, we were able to navigate across the UI but still there are apps locked with Chinese contents so thats a worry here if someone get it from China but on their global release, this will be different for sure.

Hi, I need an help to choose my next phone.
My current phone is a xiaomi mi5s, very good phone but the software is a little buggy, with the new miui often only one of the 2 big cores are working and the phone lags.
The oneplus have good reputation for the software but I never tried one.
Here in uk at the moment the oneplus is the most expensive of the three:
Oneplus 6 469£
Mi mix 2s 387£
Mi 8 422£
All of them are 6bg ram and 64 rom.
Both the xiaomi are cheaper but oneplus maybe has better software.
I think the mi8 has better hardware but I don't like the big notch that hide the notifications, the mi mix 2s is the cheaper but i don't like the front camera quality and the oneplus is a little too expensive on the official website

I chose Oneplus 6 because of English/Western OS support. I tried to get Mix 2S for the longest time, but people who actually got it complained about numerous bugs and incompatibilities with Google. I don't know anything about Mi 8.
Tell me where do you find the mi 8 for that price? The oneplus is cheaper than the xiaomi mi 8, despite the launch price. But what if they are not selling at the launch price...
sorry for my English
Why not Vivo Nex ??
This phone has features that oneplus6 should have !!
Shame on Oneplus !!

Yes that's what I was thinking, the miui is a good rom but some models doesn't receive the support that they deserve, my mi5s is left with a bugged rom and they release updates for the older model mi5.

Today's price is even less, 405£.
But you need to add about 17£ for the shipping if you are in UK.
Where did you find the oneplus at better price?
I cannot find better price than the oneplus official website

I was considering getting xiaomi as well, but I decided to get one plus in the end as it has much better software development and OOS is a lot better than MiUI in my opinion.

Will it be in the same price range?
What about software support for Europe?

oneplus6 is already expensive AF, it is almost $1000 Canadian pesos. Vivo nex shouldnot much more expensive, but still all of this phone ugly and do not have maximum performance as they should. At least the top model should have maximum available for manufactures.

Yes but they ship from China so you need to pay import duty and vat, I'm looking on something that ships from Europe.
I never bought from grossoshop, I discovered this Web site from some phone reviews on youtube and is it says that there are no import duty to pay so I suppose they ship from Europe.

Actually they are very close, on the selfie camera oneplus has eis stabilization but on mi 8 there is less noise at low light.
Rear camera picture same quality, video 4k 60fps oneplus is good, 30 fps is rubbish (no details), 30fps on mi 8 is good but no support for 60fps, I like the wider field of view in the videos on mi8. Audio OK on oneplus, rubbish on mi8.

No I wish... Just comparing stats and what all I can find out online

Vivo Fantouch 9.0 debut: Add dark mode, new icon, screen fingerprint effect, much mor

Well well Vivo just introduced major upgrade to its own Android skin.
https://sparrowsnews.com/2019/03/20...new-icon-screen-fingerprint-effect-much-more/
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BNxz9t6tmI
Funtouch 9 apparently comes with 72 new features, 55 optimizations of different details, 263 UI improvements, as well as a simpler and more beautiful interface, and a smarter and friendlier user experience - at least according to vivo.

Well this is something Vivo has to answer.
They need desperately bring new re design UI to Nex S as was their No 1 flagship that sold not only in mainland China but internationaly.
Only then will gain respect from user base aspect by strongly support their previous flagship on software matter.
Or else Vivo will loose many current and future customers and will not buy future smartphone by them.
Personal talking no matter what Vivo do I'm going to purchase OP7 day one if all the rumors come true(4000 battery, pup up camera and no redicules notch or holls)
I prefer Oxygen no matter how Fantouch will evolve.
I'm user who like a lot of customization and oneplus will deliver without any compromises.

Do I see the dark mode and AOD notifications from external applications? This is what I expect!
I sorry for my English, I use Google Translate.
probably nex won't get funtouch 9.0, vivo is too lazy lol

It will for sure
Some of the changes Fantouch 9 bring is the center position of the clock at home screen as well drastic redesign of control center.

That's the answer to your question guys. And I am delighted since the time we wait well deserved I think (translate google)
Well apperantly Nex S owner got the device with Fantouch 4 while being young and until getting Fantouch 9 they'll be much much older [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Unfortunately as I can see this details review the native dark mode with Fantouch 9 it's useless as its light gray so no any impact to battery life and looks horrible.
Vivo should had add very dark gray or total black option even better.

I've got the feeling first Vivo introduced successor of Nex S and then will bring it to last year flagship

Vivo is launching its new Origin OS on November 18 in China. The new Android skin is said to replace Vivo's current Funtouch OS. ... The Chinese smartphone manufacturer will select a limited number of users who will get to try the latest Vivo Android custom skin on the scheduled date.
